Hi all
What are people's thoughts on fowlers comments saying that he thinks 2 out of the 3 players who's contracts are up have already signed?
20 Jan 2025 12:03:00
It's pure speculation, I don't think he has any links with the club. It'd be nice to announce all 3 together, like I definitely get the appeal of it from a PR/ Marketing perspective, but I find it hard to believe they'd actually keep renewals quiet considering the amount of noise it has generated.

I'd hope he's right!

Fake news - if two had signed no wouldn’t be running to the press every week.
Also if two had signed and I was the club I would release that info to put pressure on the third to sign.
At this point though who cares - if they all go they all go. Let’s just make sure we win the league.

Robbie also made some silly outdated comments live on TV recently about unemployed scousers. Whilst he was a great player he’s not the best pundit. That said he may know something, and this is his way of sharing it.

I hope he's right.

Bobbyalan5, I think nothing off what anyone says about this cos you really cannot trust whoever makes these comments as to what they know or don't know. I'm patient.
We will all be here and find out soon enough.

I’d like to Think he’d know.
20 Jan 2025 12:47:10
I haven't a clue but his reasons for not releasing a statement make sense.
And Salah has gone quiet recently, hasn't he? Or maybe I've just not read anything recently about it.
20 Jan 2025 13:18:20
Salah hasn’t been man of the match recently so no post match interviews to answer questions on his contract.
20 Jan 2025 13:28:18
I think rigsby salah has gone quiet recently because he hasn't won any mom awards, that's where he was getting asked the question most of the time.
20 Jan 2025 13:54:35
Who really knows mate, I don't think he knows more than we do to be honest. If 2 of the three had signed a new deal I think they'd be announcing it almost immediately.
20 Jan 2025 14:06:14
He's not claiming to be in the know, he's openly saying that it's just a feeling that he has.
I'm not hopeful but it would be great if he's right! He at least knows how things work inside a club like Liverpool (although I suspect it's very different there now compared to when he was a player) .
20 Jan 2025 14:27:38
Maybe he agreed to a new contract since he was last asked.
If he is being asked the question but wants to keep it quiet, what is he supposed to say?
20 Jan 2025 14:28:33
Why do you think that, Salah?
Wouldn't that just turn up the heat on the one that hasn't signed?
20 Jan 2025 15:19:03
The delay in announcing does suggest that one is not yet agreed - I suspect it is Trent but only based on rumours.
It would be wrong to announce 2/ 3 in either scenario:
1) 1 hasn't agreed and has said they are leaving - would put the price up on any replacements trying to be lined up (for example, if it was Trent, then doing a pre-contract with Kimmich - just an example)
2) As Rigsby said, puts undue pressure.
At the end of the day, it would appease us fans, but not make any difference (other than possibly negative as above) to the team, which is the most important bit (albeit it is frustrating for us! )
20 Jan 2025 15:23:53
Who cares if it turns the heat up on the one who hasn’t signed. Good if it did.
20 Jan 2025 15:24:04
Who knows of it'd turn up the heat, Rigsby. Point of the matter is each of the three are completely separate so if one were to sign I'd expect the club to announce it same goes for the others. They'll either sign or they won't, what they going to do announce two has signed at the end of the season because they signed now and one walks?
20 Jan 2025 16:29:51
The longer the silence goes on feeds the impression that maybe all 3 are off and the club won't want to release that news until nearer the end of the season for fear of the fallout wrecking the title chances.
20 Jan 2025 16:52:39
markp08, it might be those involved that care about turning the heat up.
If it was TAA, for example, he or the club might not want it airing just because you and some other fans want to know. They are contracted until the end of the season so why do you need to know now?
The club and all three players seem happy enough and decisions won't be made based on the individual preferences.
Salah, that's possible. A statement could be seen as a distraction. I don't know. It could be being kept in-house. Negotiations could be ongoing for one one of them. Who knows?
20 Jan 2025 17:48:30
Announce all 3 before a huge game. Give the fans and players a boost.
If they had signed, would the rest of the squad know?
