Seeing a debate on the rumours page about which to cash in on, Nunez or jota.
For me sell jota and it's not even difficult decision. He's barely fit for more than 3/ 4 games without being injured (or playing his online fifa tournament) . Great finishing but not top level at linking up or making the correct pass.
Darwin whilst not getting any luck whatsoever with his finishing. Works his absolute b**locks off for the shirt. And has better link up with the team. Has a bit or origi/ kuyt about him he's great of the bench for clutch moments.
Buy a new forward and give danns more minutes.
Just how I see things lads.

I personally can't see either being sold this window (wouldn't be surprised to see both go in the summer) so I'm going to get behind both when they play.
In our last 2 league games Jota came off the bench to rescue us from defeat against Forrest and Nunez came off the bench to win us the game at Brentford.
Well done both as we could be potentially 5 points worse off and Forrest 2 points closer.

I disagree, if it’s up to me, it would be Nunez or jota. Nunez does work his arse off but give him 50 clear chances on goal and he’ll score 5. Give jota 50 chances on goal and he’ll score probably 35.

I mean if I'm being honest I would say we could probably upgrade on both.
But its not going to happen in January so let's hope Jota can stay fit for a few months and push us over the line.

Challenge for Jota that those 50 chances would be over a whole season due to his availability.

Chaosengine - Jota's current problem is give him 50 chances on goal and he'll be injured by the 10th.
The cruel truth is that whilst I like both players and would love to be talking about them scoring 30 a season each, Jota when fit is only just about good enough. Although lethal in the box, he's too patchy in the build up and his fitness remains a big concern. He'll struggle to score 20+ a season cos he just won't be fit regularly enough. I think he's managed it once in his career.
Nunez was just about good enough last season when he was averaging a goal or assist every 95 minutes or so. He's dropped off a lot this season. Whilst he does work hard, his work is often ineffectual. He'll struggle to score 20+ a season because he panics when in on goal, and has now taken to trying way to hard to the point that he's not in the right place to score often enough. He's usually a bit better in the build up than Jota (but he can also be just as wayward at times) and at least he's consistently available.
tl;dr - We could do better than both.
I really hope I end up being wrong about this and Jota doesn't get injured again, whilst Nunez bangs in 15 or 20 between now and the end of the season, but I don't think I will be.

I don’t trust Hughes yet enough to be selling one of our centre forwards. Can he even get the replacements in?
24 Jan 2025 17:43:58
There was a rumour circulating that the injury Jota sustained against Chelsea was a punctured lung and the recovery could be all season.
He has come back in and then seems to go out with little to no explanation.
Slot has always been very cryptic about the injury and in his press conference this week when asked he was a little stumped for a few seconds and said he’s overdone a muscle and that was it.

Nunez' poor finishing is down to two and a half seasons of bad luck?
He must be due a long run of good luck then and maybe Jota is going to be luckier with injuries, too.

Jota = better at finishing. With both feet and his head too. Better at staying onside.
Better dribbler. Much less likely to get suspended for being an idiot. Better at Fifa.
Nunez = Better at running about. Better at staying fit. Better at waving his arms at the crowd to make them cheer louder. Faster. Better at passing to salah.

I’d listen to offers for both and wouldn’t be thinking about either / or.
25 Jan 2025 00:04:32
I'd move them both on. Could replace them with one durable 20 goal a season striker and we'd be ahead.

I think you could make a case for Jota being a sort of Origi - not much game time but scores some crucial goals at the right time. I’d take the money for Nunez - hopefully some daft Spanish club offers an acceptable amount. I’d bring in a frontman worth the name who can score and not fall to bits if someone gives him a nasty look and I’d bring Danns into the squad for next season as the primary back-up for the new signing and Jota getting his name embroidered on one of the find seats.
25 Jan 2025 04:06:21
I don’t think we necessarily need 6 senior forwards anyway, especially considering you only get half a season out of Jota. I’d be open to selling both and spending the money on Isak. Danns as backup.
25 Jan 2025 15:42:44
Yeah I agree, Jota out before Nunez any day of the week. I also hope we can see more of Danns, if he doesn't get minutes with us I'd like to think he can go out on loan until the end of the season, ideally to a team in this league but I'd prefer him to stay here and get his chance.
