I'm find our inactivity in this window, and some of the past ones concerning and short sighted.
If we do end up with say two of the current players in contract discussions leaving, being mo, trent or virg.
Factor into this we need to be looking at signing a successor to robbo.
We could be looking at three player that we're considered top tier footballers at their peak leaving rather big holes in the squad.
If we don't want the quality of the first eleven to drop, we are probably looking at a minimum £250 million pounds worth of signings to replace these guys.
Not to mention other positions that we supposedly want to be making changes to, I get the feeling slot doesn't see a future for nunez and may want a new center forward, as jotas injury record is seeing him miss a lot of game time.
I realy hope we don't end up in a pickle over this, anyone else see this also?
Just my thoughts.

It’s all a load of guesswork and speculation Snoots. We could sign 6 players and all of them flop (see Brendan Rodgers reign) and end up mid table.
We could sign no one and academy players step up to be the class of 2025 and we dominate for the ne
Who knows?
One thing I can rely on is no matter what happens I will support whoever wears the red shirt with passion and pride. Hopefully we’ll pick up some silverware along the way.

I think only 1 will stay an that’s vvd not cos the other don’t want too but the money will go to him
Salah trent an Nunez I think will be the major departures and I dread to think how the time will look next season with everyone spending.

Concerning perhaps but not yet coup concerning.
At some point he will have to make transfer moves and we all see how he gets on when he does. Proof will be in the pudding as they say.
But for now, we re in many competitions with a chance of winning them.
Bournemouth the next big one. If we can pull off a win in that one, that would absolutely heap pressure on arsenal playing the day after against City. Big big game. Looking forward to it.
The champs league is a nice easy going starter but Bournemouth is the BIG one this week. Really has that final feel. And I like that.

Mane, Mo, Bobby, Robbo, Gravenberch, Alexis, Ibou etc. We have signed mid / cheaper priced players and turned them into worldies on a number of occasions and can continue to do so.
We don't need to be spending large fee's to find great players unless its Virgil/ Ali level.
Would anyone rather have Caicedo than Alexis, Grav, Dom and Endo? seriously?

I'm not bothered about making a signing in Jan. I'd rather use that money as signing on fees for the 3 out of contract players.
That might help get them over the line and allow us to pay more reasonable wages (even if the signing on fees is spread over their contract).
Then we can look at additions in the summer and perhaps sell a few too.
27 Jan 2025 21:54:16
If there’s an opportunity to bring in a replacement for any of those three this window, and that relies on any of them definitely going, then yeah take it. But if not then there’s time to bring someone in summer.

The Liverpool way, used to be
Get on Top
Invest in better players
Stay on Top
The Liverpool way now is
Get on Top
Dont invest in better players
Let teams overtake us.
27 Jan 2025 23:00:10
First we need to concentrate on the first part of that statement. Getting to the top.
28 Jan 2025 00:29:47
For the last 10 years before klopp the Liverpool way was
Buy lots of players. Stay mid tier. Win the occasional cup thanks to Gerrard.
28 Jan 2025 00:45:24
Langland - so no one really overtook us since we won the league.
28 Jan 2025 00:55:00
Yeah look at all those teams overtaking us ?
No point in having an academy if you’re not going to use any of those players.

10 years ago is a fair distance to go back. I’m not sure what point Nevada is trying to make ?. I mean it’s pretty clear that if you don’t invest then eventually you will go backwards. Unless you want to go back 30 odd years and quote The Man Utd kids ?♂️. We’ve had one great manager and hopefully Slot is another, still going to need help in the transfer market tho. That’s reality.

We have invested. To say we don't invest, especially in players, is untrue.
Other teams, like Chelsea and City, have invested massively to get on top but we are also quick to criticise them.
We can't just expect to get on top and stay there because other clubs want to do it, too. What we do mightn't be good enough but that applies to everyone else.
We do it better than the majority of other clubs but if you expect to be on top and stay there all the time you are setting yourself up for perpetual disappointment.
It's supposed to be enjoyable! ?.

Spot on, Ron Keague.
28 Jan 2025 11:26:12
I think the important thing is yeah, look clubs will invest to improve their teams but this does not necessarily mean huge transfer fees every time.
Investment into the academy for example helps developing youth players who will help the team.
In terms of transfers, look we are all a bit frustrated that we have not moved quickly at times. I'm sure many of us believed Klopp certainly should have been backed better but the most important thing to remember is not just signing loads of players - like Chelsea and Utd - but identifying the right player that will improve the team. By all means, spend and get that guy, but bringing in the wrong player (s) can see a team go backwards.
Right now, I'd like to see the club sort out these contracts first and foremost.

We must have the best academy in the history of football.
