Why is there such a dislike of the owners and the lack of transfer business and all the things that go in between?
1: Top of the League
2: Best Centre Back, Best Attacker and Best right back in the league, (probably in world football) .
3: The Club have stated that deals are not done yet but they are a priority
4: Liverpool has always tried to (and maybe this time it's working) keep business private
5: Transfers do not make the club, results do
6: Media nowadays does anything for the clicks and transfer rumours are nothing more than 2+2=£70m if you spin it right.
7: We need a left back in the summer (or sooner)

I think it's because society has become addicted to instant gratification. It's a slow burner to watch a player already at the club grow into an extremely good player. I personally am really enjoying seeing players like Konate, Gravenberch, Szoboszlai and Gakpo come of age and finally nail down starting positions. They could all be key players for us for years to come. We've spent a lot of money in recent years and now we're seeing the benefit to giving those new guys time to settle.
There really isn't a lot of players out there who can improve our team. We could probably do with a better first choice Striker and a better first choice Left back, but Jota/ Nunez/ Diaz and Robbo/ Tsimikas/ Gomez are all still good players so we're not desperate. I do agree with people that a signing in either of these two positions in this window would strengthen our chances of success, but it doesn't guarantee it anymore than sticking with what we've got does.
Nowadays, people (including me) just constantly want an immediate dopamine hit. I blame the invention and ascension of the microwave and the mobile phone.

Allred, if all you re going to do is come on here and speak with ironclad logic, then you need to leave sir.
We have no room for your kind.
Now back to my military style coup of Melwood guys.
I figure we'll meet up breakfast. We wear name tags, have a little buffet/ networking session. Few teamwork exercises.
Then we'll hit the hardware shop for weapons. I'm going to go with a hoe so when I kill someone I can say "shouldn't have spent your time with all those hoes" Classic.
We will pose as food delivery to enter the building via food delivery trucks. Some healthy food logos on the trucks will fool them. Footballers. Healthy food. Makes sense. Go on through boys.
Barry in Louth, you re on pointat doors to building. Keep watch and make the sound of a screaming giraffe if you see the po po arriving.
On the advice of Becker we'll "accidently" hit the ladies showers first looking for Hughes/ Ward.
Afterwards we charge around looking for them. No stopping for autographs lads. Eyes on the prize.
Once they are murdered and our demands are met by FSG, I suspect in a few weeks after, once the news of the horrific and violent event that just unfolded has died down in the media, we are there negotiating a deal for Gyorkeres and the new group DOFs.
That or in prison. But the only way I see that happening is if Barry fails to scream like a giraffe in time.

Spot on mk. I also think since covid everyone is that little bit angrier. And rightly so- it was a terrible time but I’d like to think its only become habit to be less tolerant of things we disagree with. On top of getting real good at arguing in front of a screen. I’m hoping as we collectively get over the trauma of covid- we can show a little more rationale, a little more kindness and patience. Doesn’t help though with clickbait media doing their best to rouse up that rage because it sells better. For the record, I like darwin, I think all three will sign with us, and I think the owners are decent enough. I won’t be devastated if we don’t sign anyone. However, if I have anything critical to say, I’d just like grav vvd and salah to get a few more rests.

Because we should have won more than 1 pl under Klopp but he didn't get the backing when we were on top just like what will happen with Slot. Their not very good owners.
28 Jan 2025 13:07:32
AllRed and MKS -
Because we know our pain areas very well and we end up buying a goal keeper which was the least of issue.
Need to appreciate Kelleher that he has taken it positively and has been a good backup whenever called up.
I still don't understand the Marma signing.

Great piece, Davey, count me in!
28 Jan 2025 14:33:33
Davey, assuming you're in the UK, it's far too early to be smoking the good stuff!
28 Jan 2025 15:03:08
Nomid is right. The anxiety and frustration is borne from previous seasons.
Although, if any other club had three of their best four players out of contract in a few months, their fans would also be up in arms.
Perspective works both ways.
28 Jan 2025 15:14:34
Dave that is the funniest thing I have read in a while ?.
28 Jan 2025 15:15:02
Irish MK. And I'm not on anything.
My doctors say I just have a few screws loose. I think that means I'm a genius.
28 Jan 2025 15:27:52
Davey, the giraffe ruse has had it's time - the po po are on to that. Barry needs to make a sound like a mating komodo dragon. That'll throw them.
MK, instant gratification was the unintended consequence of Napster - those guys have a lot to answer for, taking away the joy of polishing your vinyl or CD before enjoying the toons.
28 Jan 2025 15:46:51
Excellent idea Zed. It's that kind of innovation that has given me the honor of promoting you to my second in command.
Of course, to pull off the mating komodo dragon, Barry is going to need a partner. Personally I think Leek is our guy.
28 Jan 2025 16:07:49
Perspective works in only two ways?
I didn't realise.
{Ed001's Note - that depends on your perspective too.}
28 Jan 2025 17:39:18
Surely if you get too much perspe (x) ctive you end up as a plastic fan, Ed001?
Leek is a great idea, Davey. If they struggle with the Komodo Dragon, he could always break out the 'Leek shriek' as a backup.
Should the rest of us also tool up with garden implements? I'm always one to call a spade a spade, but they might tell us to fork off?
28 Jan 2025 18:09:49
Lol Zed and Davey ??.
28 Jan 2025 18:11:32
I'm throwing the trowel in, Zed.
28 Jan 2025 18:52:34
The vivid and dramatic imagination of some on here, particularly when it comes to violent crime, has convinced me that some of you have clearly done some time. ?.
28 Jan 2025 20:09:19
Excellent suggestions. Then it's settled lads.
Zed whacks him with a spade
Rigsby throws a trowel at him.
Salah stabs him with the pitch fork
And I finish him off with the hoe
Zed: "let's call a spade a spade. You re not up to this role"
Rigsby: "this is for throwing the trowel in on the Zubimendi deal. "
Salah: "you know you forking deserve this"
Davey: "shouldn't have spent all your time with those hoes"
As we stand over his dead body feeling a bit flat and deflated and tired after the violent act. Coming to terms with what I hope is all our first murder.
Rigsby: "Why did you say the hoes thing Davey. Is there some controversy we don't know about"
Davey: "I don't know. I had a hoe. Was all I could think of. "
Salah: "Cruel last words to shout at him Davey without having any evidence. At least our words a some apt double meaning. "
Zed: "come to think about this, I regret this. He seemed like a good family man. Bar the showers and getting Virgil's autograph this has been a very bad day. "
*Dead silence. The air filled with regret. A sombre moment where you can here a pin drop. The four of us barely breathing, let alone mutter any word.
The silence broken by two mating komodo dragons.
SCATTER!

Spot on, MKS. For me, it's as if you are not allowed to say what the owners have factually done right and have factually done wrong all in the same conversation. It's as if it has to be black or white (or Shirts v Skins) with the if you say what they have gotten actually right, your are "FSG in" and if you do the opposite factually, or are "FSG out".
It is literally okay to say we need signings while at the same time, it is okay to say we we have done well with the work we did do as that is starting to bear fruit now. And regarding dwelling on the perceived mistakes of the past, that is a choice. The past can't hurt me anymore cos I choose not to dwell on it.
I am like you, I am enjoying all the good work the recruiting team have done over the pasts 2/ 3 years come to fruition with the players (and youngsters) you mentioned and even tho we could have done more here or there, that don't mean automatic success and the example clubs are there to prove this. And I've not seen any club sign any blockbuster player that would move the needle so what have we missed out on exactly?
I just try to be optimistic and support the team esp. with how well they have been playing so far and hope for the best. I ain't doing y head in over things I can't control esp. with all the clickbait nonsense out there that people feed on when it suits their narrative, FSG In or Out.
