Genuine question: Name better owners than FSG.
answers such as "anyone who would spend money" will be deemed as stupid so save yourself the time.
I'm interested in hearing about present owners of other clubs, or potential new owners who are either doing a better job elsewhere or you think would do a better job with us.
IMO I can't think of any.

From a fans point of view? Man City? Not only have they pumped money into the team but believe the surrounding area? I think I’m right in saying that ?♂️.
{Ed025's Note - if they have pumped money into the surrounding area it will be as an investment Irish, just like Sir Jim RATcliffe is doing at united then getting the government to regenerate the area to maximize their profit, these money men are not soft you know mate there is a method in their madness..

I live in Manchester and I also spent 7 years working at the City ground - they have invested heavily in the area, but as 025 has stated its all been with an ROI in mind. 90% of the "regeneration" has been expanding the stadium, academy, fan zones and they are part owners of the new COOP arena (which is fkn class btw) - They have created more jobs for sure but only in a way that benefits them.
Also we are talking about the same owners who have put the club in a position they are facing 115 charges - Id take FSG everyday of the week mate (I know they are guilty, proving it is another story though)
{Ed025's Note - none of them are in it for the love of the sport or respective teams CH its all about maximizing profit mate, most of them dont even like football..

I was thinking the same the other day. No owners are perfect and ours are very much guilty of that. But this business is sports, you can’t achieve perfection. (Without cheating)
I very much remember the last owners and I have a feeling some have very short memories.
We are self sustaining, the stadiums been upgraded, the training facilities have been upgraded, and we’ve seen success on and off the pitch and have been on an upwards trajectory from day 1 of FSGs ownership. There’s been mistakes sure but I can’t think of any that have done better.

That is the sad reality of it Ed. Long gone are the days where owners are in it for the love of the game, with a genuine interest to grow the club to be the best it can be. It's now all how much the owners can make from owning clubs now. On FSG, I'll give them credit for at least not leeching money off the club, unlike the Glazers.
{Ed025's Note - i think your owners are decent Drac, they dont overspend and are very frugal at times but a lot better than some out there mate..

I don't have an issue with our owners, I don't feel we have a need to have a problem with them. Overall they have done what's right for the club, that's enough for me. Mistakes happen, silly choices and what not but overall I'm happy - it could be much worse.

Yeh Mikey but FSG or anyone else shouldn't be lauded simply because they are better than Hicks and gillette.
20 Mar 2025 16:17:08
FSG are who they are and what they are: Investors and they do "Investors" stuff. They make good choices. They make bad choices. I take the good with the bad and move on.

They are good owners, but equally it often feels like we have outgrown them in some aspects.
We have been slow to react to opportunities at times and that can set us back. Mike Gordon's hiatus plus the tension between Edwards/ Ward and Klopp probably didn't help provide the clarity needed for being decisive.
I suspect FSG felt the same when they instructed the banks to kick the tires on potential interest.
Since then the multi-club multi-owner models and what will be the constant bending of associated parties rules has opened the door to the likes of Saudi/ Qatar/ UAE investing in football clubs indirectly.
As Ed002 said, FSG are partnering with Saudi PIF already on the golf and likely talking to them about other things. They have brought in Edwards to expand the football portfolio to more clubs and if I recall they are also setting up some academies in Saudi too.
Don't be surprised to see Liverpool and/ or FSG ownership change by stealth over years without a classic public sale.

FSG are good and steady owners that have brought success to the club in their time. I would like to see sometimes a little more ambition in terms of player recruitment as I feel they are conservative.
20 Mar 2025 17:02:23
I really don't believe FSG are the ones to blame for player recruitment Hessle. The funds were available last summer - The problem was Hughes who couldn't handle getting the job done.
20 Mar 2025 17:48:05
It is about financial ROI of course, but there’s also other factors and drivers behind state backed investment and oligarch investment. It’s ROI but not in the same way FSG are looking at it.
20 Mar 2025 20:52:15
It could be worse we could be owned by the Chelsea owners….
20 Mar 2025 21:22:48
@florian
If you read my post I give a list of reasons why they are good owners, I didn’t just say they are better than the last lot.
21 Mar 2025 00:41:25
Decent owners but an extra signing or so a season and we could have won a lot more and they should have recognised that.
21 Mar 2025 05:35:17
If not FSG then who?
21 Mar 2025 08:31:05
Signing players guarantees you nothing. In theory it improves your chances, but United have spent close to a billion (? ) to be mid table mediocrity.
21 Mar 2025 14:27:49
Bang on the money ED - I got to know the exec board quite well - They bought City as an advertising vehicle to raise the profile of their country. If Etihad wanted to be a headline sponsor for the Champs League, Premiership etc they would have spent billions per annum, Buying City and pumping a few quid in has given them free advertising opportunities globally off the back off how many countries watch the prem and champs league etc.
Plus they now own an appreciating asset as opposed to just blowing cash on advertising, ooh and a bit of PR spin about how they have regenerated the local area (aka bought the land for chips off the council who couldn't afford to do anything with it).
