There's no excuse for us not to be in for isak this summer. He's player that straight away improves the first 11. The money should also be there as we've spent little the last few windows. If we have another summer where we've to wait on player sales to buy say an Isak you can forget about it. Look what happened with Bellingham. We didn't have the money but when a few were sold we could spend 110 million on caicedo. Pursue isak and work on moving nunez etc on.
If we do not recruit well this summer or improve on the first 11, i hope the fans put significant pressure on Hughes and company.

How do you suggest fans put pressure on Hughes, Batman7?
31 Mar 2025 14:36:32
Well said Batman totally agree mate.
31 Mar 2025 15:27:28
Sell Nunez buy Isak. It’s not complicated. Jota too if needs be.

Bellingham was NEVER interested in a move to Liverpool - we could have had £500 Million in the transfer kitty, still wouldn't have happened.
Regarding ISAK - let's say he doesn't want to move to us either, will that still be Hughes fault?

Batman - Look what happened with Bellingham. We didn't have the money but when a few were sold we could spend 110 million on caicedo.
You are missing the main point in your appraisal, which is that the Bellendingham cash was spent on the greatest MF rebuild in the history of the game, and whilst Caicedo is good, Id rather have our 4 ANY DAY.
Re Isak, Id rather have Cunha and Etikite, who combined would cost the same as Isak and look to be more robust.

There's absolutely no chance we, or anyone for that matter sign Isak.
Richest owners in the world, a long contract, first trophy in 70 years, most likely champions league football and I assume they'll heavily invest this summer.
I'd be amazed if anyone manages to get him out, unless he starts refusing to play and that, which again I'd be amazed at.

200 million € asking price says otherwise.
31 Mar 2025 17:13:20
Johnny_Bellwhiff makes a pertinent point. Isak is a great player and if we had a stable squad with only the need for one player then sign him for £130m. The reality is we need to strengthen a number of positions for a variety of reasons' One Isak or two £65m players?
If you make a list of players yo feel will 100% still be at LFC next season it is not very long. we need to spend wisely and let Slot sprinkle his coaching magic again next year.
31 Mar 2025 18:13:06
I would agree if a striker was the only position we needed to buy for but we also need a right back, left back, central defender, midfielder and possibly another forward. There is no way we are spending £120-£150 million on one player.
31 Mar 2025 18:31:05
Gyorkes buyout is 87m. Could get him and another for price of Isak.
31 Mar 2025 18:41:33
Have a feeling we might go for Benjamin Sesko, we have good dealings with Leipzig with Konate and Szoboszlai.
31 Mar 2025 18:48:59
Would love to see how a front 3 of Gakpo - Cunha - Salah fares next season though. Mika Biereth is a rising star but I don't know much of him to speak of transfer. Would be nice to see the look on Artetas face, if he tears it up in the Prem though.
31 Mar 2025 19:28:15
We need isak, but at the same time if he’s signed would we address other issues? I’d doubt it due to the finances.
We need a centre back and right back if Trent goes as well as a left back.
Midfield I think could be squeezed another year if slot would use endo more but he seems hesitant.
Isak would take us another level, if nobody else left. But it doesn’t look to be the case at the moment. I still want to believe there’s another positive twist to these contracts though.

Good question @rome, it used to be pitchforks and torches for the peasants, nowadays I believe it’s hate and death threats on social media, can’t say we haven’t evolved. This post should be read as a feeble attempt at black humor, I don’t encourage hate speech and death threats.

I love the idea that we have a transfer kitty, it’s so sweet.
31 Mar 2025 21:15:03
I don’t watch enough of Newcastle to know if Isak can play in a team that has loads of possession and against whom teams drop deep and get behind the ball.
I’ve only seen him play v us and because of the way we play he has more room.
Not saying he won’t suit us-but maybe he may not fit in easily to the way we play.
No-one was crying out for us to buy a CF from Hoffenheim but that player became the glue for our front three.
It’s not always the “obvious” signing that improves the starting 11.
31 Mar 2025 21:30:02
I love the idea that we need a full rebuild to address the glaring weaknesses of a squad that 12pts clear WDW.
If we improve too much more everyone else should just pack up and go home.
31 Mar 2025 21:47:33
Batman7, and what if Isak is not interested in coming to us or even leaving Nwcastle or Newcastle refusing to sell cos well, they don't need to? Do we kidnap him?
If his asking price is 150m then, good luck with that cos we have a lot of holes to fill. And if the Big Two leave then, you can forget Isak completely cos we will have even more holes to fill.
01 Apr 2025 00:41:20
Isak is title number 21.
01 Apr 2025 11:18:24
I assume Isak will be playing RB, LCB, LB, DM, RM and CF then?
01 Apr 2025 18:12:43
Holy cosmos batman!
