I’d like to know people’s opinions on szobo. I believe he has all the tools to be a Gerard light, but instead he’s just not living up to the player I know he can be.
Is this me expecting too much form what I’ve seen in a Hungary shirt or is this a fair opinion?
The man can strike a ball but he never does it?

Positives: Lots of energy, good at pressing. Negatives: Runs around a lot but hardly wins a duel / tackle which is very odd. Lacks quality in passing and decision making is poor. Refuses to shoot when in good positions.
Our midfield needs improving and Endo must have really done something against Slot to not get more game time in this midfield.

We paid 60m for an athlete. He can't pass od shoot and takes the easy out all of the time. Could easily be upgraded.

ArAy1969, indeed. Szobo is so rubbish to the point that we struggle when he doesn't play. He is either that important to the team or we are such a crap team who btw, is about to walk the league. It clearly can't be both.

He’s just not a ten. That simple really - great player to have in the middle of the park but doesn’t have the creativity to play 10 and unlock a defence.

Agree, has the making of a top midfielder if he toughens up and wins tackles and pulls the trigger more.

Exactly, Brummy. Szobo is not a 10. He simply never was whether at RB Salzburg or at RB Leipzig. He is your typical no. 8 with immense technical ability and engine that can go both ways and press high.
He is our most advanced mid who joins the attack and fills the hole in the false 9 when the CF drops deep BUT that does not suddenly make him Phillipe Coutinho wo was a true old school no. 10. I have NO idea how one can say that cos Szobo is playing in the "10", he should be creative, have an eye for a pass the way Coutinho had whereas they are diff. players fulfilling diff. roles.

I think without him on the pitch tonight Everton score a goal.
He is absolutely immense at tracking back, pressing and he is not bad on the ball either. The sprint back tracking of Beto on one of the breaks was absolutely incredible. Forced Harrison into a bad pass. And before you say, it's not just work rate. It's world class work rate. He is the absolute best in the world at working hard on the pitch. No one comes close.
Hands down, 60 million incredibly well spent. I'd spend double that easy.

Runs himself into the ground and a tidy player but he doesn’t offer even close to enough in terms of creativity could end up in one of the deeper roles to make room for a more traditional number 10.

It’s amazing on here sometimes he was brilliant not long ago on here when he was scoring and he has a quiet game and he’s sh*t.
