Seen videos and images of the Everton and Liverpool fans clashing outside the ground ?. so disappointed by this as we're traditionally known as the friendly derby but obviously them days are long gone sadly. these kids need a wake up call and give their heads a wobble it's pathetic. I always remember my old man telling me years ago that when Liverpool didn't have a game fans would try and go watch Everton game just for the enjoyment and support for our city. Sorry to put this on here just it's such a shame the way things have gone. ynwa ?.
{Ed025's Note - we have been discussing this lately Hmasson, those halcyon days are long dead and buried im afraid mate..

Standard behaviour of this generation in general I'm afraid! Only need to look at social media to see the hate and anger in these people! Glad I'm of a older generation from this one.
{Ed025's Note - yeah me too mate, this world has turned very nasty im afraid..

Where exactly was the trouble Hmasson please mate?
03 Apr 2025 21:44:57
I didn't see anything. I've never seen so many police wagons, so surprised that there was. As long as no one innocent got caught up in it.

Sorry mate wasn’t trying to imply it didn’t happen. I take my son to games so want to make sure I avoid said areas that’s all.

I believe you, hmasson2. Very sad. But, like I say, so long as people who weren't looking for it didn't get caught up in it.

It must have been removed as there’s no content online about this. Is this fake news?

In my experience this current generation is much more aware and forgiving than my generation (I’m in my late 40’s) .
My generation was much more aware and forgiving than my parent’s generation.
My parent’s generation was much more aware and forgiving than my grandparent’s generation.
I think things are getting much better.
Just my experience though. Maybe yours are different.

The world is passing through troublous times. The young people of today think of nothing but themselves. They have no reverence for parents or old age. They are impatient of all restraint. They talk as if they knew everything, and what passes for wisdom with us is foolishness with them. As for the girls, they are forward, immodest and unladylike in speech, behavior and dress. "

Football fans are a reflection of society in general.
Have to completely disagree with Footyfan.
The world is more divided than ever in my memory (we’re of similar ages) .
This is because for decades people have preached the politics of division and now it’s coming to fruition.
{Ed025's Note - im with you Ron..

A sense of perspective, in relation to football violence, today. It's nothing compared to the 80s, thank gawd. Those were darkest days of football in this country.
04 Apr 2025 09:14:27
I agree to some degree Ron.
I see a lot of what you say in the media (both social and mainstream), there’s a lot of hate out there from behind a keyboard.
However, when people are face to face I see a lot more tolerance and understanding of differences than when I was growing up. And much more than my parents or grandparents have/ had.
I think it’s easier to hate a group rather than an individual.
I think it’s the same with football. Fans of one club will spout vile hate at fans of another in a stadium or on social media, but some of their closest friends will probably be fans of those same clubs who they would wish no harm to in any way.
That’s what I’ve seen anyway. Just my view.

I’ve seen the line ‘this generation’ a few times these past few days when discussing fan behaviour here and I think it’s a tad unfair, large swathes of the fans behaving poorly are 40+. It’s grown men acting appallingly.

I don't get to many away games, but my understanding from those who go to all away matches is that the lads who go "looking for trouble" following us, are around 16 years old, which is worrying.

Started in earnest with Attila the Hen and her self help view of the world - destroyed the mines and the communities built around thx mining areas and smashed the welfare state. Everyone for themselves and stuff the poor sods who had nobody to look out for them. She was a brilliant politician but I disagreed with everything the evil witch said. The country - from my distant perspective - is still paying the price.
