A post from shughes55 says about fans' concern over TAA passing ability not being available to the team if he leaves and we can get a midfielder who can do the same, along with the runs forward.
Who are those midfielders though? Is there anyone with that passing range - KDB aside - in the middle of the park?
Alonso and Gerrard were our last ones; Molby before them.
Who can do that and would offer the team other facets?

You cannot replace Trent's passing ability because it doesn't exist elsewhere.
We'll have to add more variety into our passing elsewhere.

Sorry not been around for a bit. Struggling with what’s going on in the world right now and football isn’t providing the relaxing space it used to.
These types of players (TAA, KdB, Gerrard, Alonso, Molby and I would add Pirlo) are generational. They are not commonplace and pretty irreplaceable.
Sadly, they are also often under appreciated by many during their playing days and it is only when we look back on their careers we go “wow” what a player.

PSG have Hakimi at RB who wouldn't hold a candle to Trents passing ability. They still manage to be fairly creative.

@FM, it’s the nature of the game - teams either play a certain way and bring in players to fit the style of play or adapt the way they play to make the best use of the squad they have (or mostly there is an element of both) . We’ll miss TAA (if he actually goes now that the Liverpool gangsta fraternity have ‘had a word’ ?) but the team will adapt. Like I have said, I can’t wait for the transfer window to see who the club thinks is surplus to requirements and who they want to bring in as replacements and then see how we play next season.

St Etienne. Trent doesn't fit in that list of players you put up there esp since they're midfilders. yeah Trent can pass a ball but is not a top defender as they were all top midfilders who could pas n do a lot of other things.

We’d need 2 midfielders. A creative 10 and a deeper midfielder who progresses the ball the to attacking players. Szoboszlai and Gravenberch are great but they don’t offer those things enough. Trent leaving means we need to reshuffle the team. Endo and Elliott out for something like Wharton and Wirtz/ Cherki would be good.
