We're going to win the league! And now you're going to believe us!

Honestly some of our fans need to lighten up. Who cares if we don't romp home to win every game? This is how the Prem always was before Man City broke 115 rules. It's about time we got back to a proper competitive league where it isn't just Klopp and Pep gunning for 92-100pts most seasons.

{Ed025's Note - i dont think its been very competitive at all MK, Liverpool have walked it mate..

Agreed MK, City and to a lesser extent us have skewed what a title race looks like over the last 5 years or so.

I have been dying for us to be involved in a normal race, and the fact we have come out on top is a rather large cherry on top!

I think winning league stuttering over the line is a good thing. If we hammering teams and playing really good stuff people would say we don't need any additions to squad like what a lot of people said in Jan. That was a big mistake that cost us, thankfully hasn't cost us in league which most important competition. We have some glaring issues and great credit needs to go to players/ management for being so far ahead in league with these issues.

Totally agreed with that mate another league title soon to add to the collection so what's to moan about. But it's just so frustrating to watch this bare minimum approach to the managers tactics, the second half yesterday was pathetic. I couldn't tell if the players were bringing the crowd down or the other way around.

I think you're wrong ed025, sure city and arsenal have dropped away but every team in the prem can cause an upset now, united even two or three years ago could still comfortably end in the top 6 despite being absolute rubbish, now a team as good as Bournemouth is sitting 10th, and as bad as west ham have been this year you would not have seen a player half as good as paqueta drifting through a press of multiple players and charging/ hitting passes through the lines playing for a team in 16th a few years ago.

City dropping off is not just because they have problems, it's also because their problems coupled with the much tighter margins against better coaches and better players in the prem means that they get punished for not fixing their problems quickly than before. Arsenal may have injury problems but they also have a negative coach whose tactics may not correspond to an environment that is changing more broadly in football.

All things considered, folks can't simply say that arsenal have had injuries and city have had rodri out and leave it at that, the competition has improved massively and we no longer see any one team steamrolling everybody else or expecting to win long strings of games comfortably anymore.

{Ed025's Note - I suppose there are a couple of ways of looking at it PB, there is no wrong or right mate it just about opinions..

It’s hard to get up for it in the crowd when you’re watching your most attacking players on the pitch turn back and play it to the full backs and centre backs to start more slow build up.

Sounds like a moan but it’s not. Love the fact we’re likely to win the league but just feels a little that modern day football players are being over coached.

Not just us but lots of teams we’re seeing the most talented attacking players on the pitch probably having half the touches of the ball that Keepers, centre half’s and full backs are having.

Roberto De Zerbi's legacy on the Premier League. We have Virgil taking goal kicks by passing 3 yards to Alisson and we have Ibou putting getting caught putting his foot on the ball.

De Zerbi was only here for 2 years!

It's certainly not helping the crowd sustain the atmosphere at Anfield.

To be fair jk our build up was quite exquisite to watch at times in the first half, and it doesn't have to be ponderous and deliberate, in the first half we switched gears in a split second when we moved through the lines, the passing was slick and coordinated going to feet. We looked fresh, we looked prepared, but most importantly we looked like we knew what we were doing.

In the second half we saw us at our worst, doing things we have been caught doing at times lately, hitting the ball into spaces where nobody was, making constant errors of judgment in defence, it just looked like a completely different team (and to be fair to a degree it was thanks to slot making so many changes. in all honesty I wonder whether playing endo at right back would have been a better idea than bringing in quansah, he was quite disastrous after coming on) .

It's times like these that you wonder whether slot's approach of scoring and then going down a few gears really makes that much sense, Salah was terrorizing his full back and we should have forced the issue trying to pummel west ham while they were struggling, score another goal or two and then we can start to turn down the heat, klopp style.

Ed025 you can’t take anything away from Liverpool though mate as saying the rest have been rubbish makes it sound like that’s the only reason Liverpool are likely to win it? We can finish the season on 94 points this season. It can’t be just because the rest have been rubbish?

{Ed025's Note - it can you know SRM, the usual suspects have been very poor mate, City have fell off a cliff, Arsenal are...well arsenal, chelsea never ever got going and United are an absolute disgrace, not that you dont deserve it because you do you have been better than the rest this season, its just that the rest were not good enough to give you a run for your money even though you have not been outstanding i would say..

14 Apr 2025 14:14:13
Lack of a top quality defensive mid like a peak level Fabinho is causing more inconsistent performances within the 90 minutes than we’re used to.

I’ve no problem sometimes going in front and holding it to conserve energy, even though I’d prefer Klopp style football, but we haven’t got the personnel to do that and it showed yesterday. I hope Arne adapts next season and either addresses that, or ideally goes back to a full press and attacking fullbacks which is great to watch.

14 Apr 2025 14:19:41
Pat I think some of the build up play in the first half was good and some of it was very reserved safety first keep possession.

I wouldn’t use the word exquisite but that’s the beauty of football. We all see things differently. Just because on of us thought it was and the other didn’t it doesn’t mean one of us is right or wrong.

14 Apr 2025 16:36:31
Christ Ed025 imagine if we reach 94 points through not being outstanding mate. It’s got to be the way Liverpool are measured and judged mate. I’m ok holiday at moment in Portugal and a manc asked me last night if I think we have had successful season, he said I know you will win the league but would you class that as successful. I mean Jesus F Christ it reeks of BS.

{Ed025's Note - i watch every Liverpool game SRM and i have to say you have been very good at times but have gained points even when you have not been at your best, some will say thats the sign of a great side and it is but having no real threat all season smells of a poor standard league as well imo mate..

14 Apr 2025 18:04:54
Ed025.heard you say this a few times about the league not being competitive just because Citeh have had a bad season . who has been the main competitors to them over the last 10 seasons, only Liverpool . Chelsea, Man united, Spurs have all been mediocre in that time, even Arsenal have only had 3 decent seasons, won one FA cup BTW. so it's been like this for a while but the likes of Bournemouth, Brighton etc are taking points of everyone this year esp. I think we deserve a lot more credit for what we've done.

{Ed025's Note - i do give you credit Strom you have been well ahead of the pack mate but if im honest its been a bit boring for the neutrals i would say, the standard of the others has really dropped and that is why the lesser lights are getting results against the so called better teams, just my opinion though..

14 Apr 2025 19:10:00
I remember when West Ham had di Canio.

14 Apr 2025 19:25:06
Ed025, while the top teams aren't performing, the likes of Brighton, Bournemouth etc have got good teams who can n have give anybody a game, they all go at Citeh now, whereas a few years ago they'd just sit back in hope . but if you look at some of the teams down there . wolves, west ham Fulham have all got some really good players n managers . I think it's competitive across the board .

{Ed025's Note - it is more competitive Strom but thats not because they have got stronger mate its because the top teams have regressed imo...all except Liverpool who have stayed about the same i would say..

15 Apr 2025 04:26:16
I don't see how you can deny that those teams have got much better ed, part of that has to do with the massive amounts of money in the league but also because of good recruitment with that money and good appointments with smart young coaches. Meanwhile the likes of city have stood still and thought it was enough to win. I dare say that spurs, as many injuries that they have had and as perplexing as Ange's setup has been sometimes, would have finished within the top 8 two years ago and united would finished 5th or 6th.

{Ed025's Note - i look at it like this PB, liverpool have been good this season yet imo have not been as good as they have in previous years but they have walked this league, that tells me that the others have been below par and thats why the other top teams are dropping points to the lesser lights, just my opinion though mate..
