It's pretty funny how Hughes has been public enemy number 1 all season and now suddenly everyone can't praise him enough.
Also Julian ward is technical director and deals with contract renewals.
Hughes deals with incoming and outgoing transfers.

If he played any part in those deals, then he deserves some credit. But like you said, it's Ward's responsibility, why isn't he getting credit?
If Hughes steps up this summer, then he absolutely deserves all the praise - no question about it. Personally, I don’t think he’s the right man for the job, and nothing so far has convinced me otherwise. But I genuinely hope I’m proven wrong.
We’ll know a lot more by the end of the summer, how things shape up, what direction we're heading in, and whether he’s really up to it.

Slot thanked everyone for the contracts except Ward.
Crazy that the Head Coach doesn’t even know the chain of command.

Just wondering out of interest then Salah, if Hughes isn’t the right man for the job as you suggest then who is? Answers on a postcard please.
17 Apr 2025 15:01:23
No clue who is right for the job, Jaydee but luckily I’m not the one getting paid to know, am I? Just calling it how I see it. Maybe Hughes turns out to be a genius, but right now there's nothing to back that up.
But since you’re asking - what exactly has he done so far that’s convinced you he’s the answer?

He's getting the praise from everyone because everyone was slating him for the contracts the past few months. We as fans have no idea who or what is in charge of the contracts so we criticise and praise the wrong person.

The Liverpool account seem to believe Wards job is
Ward will be “overseeing player development across FSG’s football operations, ” which will eventually include a second club once the right target has been found and acquired.
The former sporting director’s responsibilities also include “oversight of Liverpool’s academy, FSG’s loan department, group wide elite player development strategies and the establishment of FSG’s new football innovation department. ”.

Just like a lot of other stuff on this page posters don’t mind jumping on the bus even if they have no clue what said person is meant to be doing. Shocker.

I’d prefer an old school manager to a coach and dof.
17 Apr 2025 16:51:47
It would seem that Ward has no dealing with contract renewals, so if it is Hughes he deserves the credit. Also, for the umpteenth time, Hughes played a part in the appointment of Slot. That be the case, he deserves praise. I reserve judgement on him till the end of the summer, regards to transfers. Those slating him have gone quiet. I'm sure there'll be someone else coming along for them to have a pop at. Come September it may be me, but till then.

I really wish we all didn’t know the names of the people who ran the club “behind the scenes”!
As a kid, all I knew was the squad, the manager, the assistant and maybe the owner…. life was so much easier!
It seems that today, we all need someone to blame or point a finger at. It’s not just staff members we look to blame, my 10 year old knows most referees names as soon as they come on the tv and I doubt he is on his own with that.
17 Apr 2025 18:48:12
Hughes will be judged fully at the end of next season. So far, he is opening myind that he may in fact know what he is doing. I am going to reserve my judgement for a later date. I truly hope he makes it fully to my good books and I don't need to round up the garden tool boys. You know who you are.
17 Apr 2025 18:59:06
Two things can be right at the same time, people can praise him for his work on getting the two boys to sign new contracts but people can also be annoyed at the poor transfer windows we had in the summer and January this year.
17 Apr 2025 21:06:18
Hughes gets slaughtered about contracts for a year. Two contracts signed and hughes doesn't look after contracts, Ward does. couldn't make it up??.
17 Apr 2025 21:38:39
He has done absolutely nothing only waste money on a couple of signings we didn't need. Wouldn't have anything to do with virg and Mo signing new contracts. And anyway they already wanted to stay at the club. So far Hughes has robbed a living at liverpool.
18 Apr 2025 00:11:02
Nobody has any idea what Hughes’s job actually is or what remit he’s been given. This thread just proves that!
So how anyone can say he’s not the right man for the job and has been robbing a living when they have no idea what he’s being asked to do is beyond me.
As long as the team are winning I couldn’t give a toss and if Hughes is to blame for us being 13pts clear with 6 games to go then I can live with that.
18 Apr 2025 00:43:24
Deliberating who did this and that and who deserves which praise is like judging wine tasting contest without tasting the wine.
18 Apr 2025 01:11:07
If Hughes wrongly got all the criticism it’s only fair he wrongly gets the praise haha.
18 Apr 2025 03:26:07
Davey, I have the tool at the ready mate!
18 Apr 2025 07:07:37
Make sure you don't grab the wrong tool, Salah ;)
18 Apr 2025 07:59:10
Hughes hasn’t filled me or most fans with confidence and seems way out of his depth. Perception doesn’t necessarily mean reality of course.
