Delighted for Trent. He's handled this whole tricky situation with dignity, and it is clear how much he wants to deliver another title before heading on. He's achieved so much for us: he may just want a new challenge. Like Souness moving to Samporia.

Theres no tricky situation. He's chosen to leave us in his prime to go to Madrid. When he goes, he's gone. That team needs serious investment. Too many dead performances but the quaulty or lack of upfront is really eye opening now. Salahs been poor for several games now for his standard but what have the others offered? Imagine if arsenal were a lot closer. We need two attackers, lb and possibly 2 midfielders. Sobosli does not offer enough either. There's a good few areas we can improve.

Could not agree more mate. Wonderful player and bloke in my opinion. Couldn’t be happier for him, he’s leaving of course, but in the end so what, every player does. 100 goal involvements in 350 games for a right back, absolutely sensational. We may not see his like again for a very long time. Except we have Connor, that’s the bar lad…. gulp. Yet somehow I think he might just get there and that’s the brilliance of being us right now.

Souness was slowing down when he moved to Sampdoria.

Trent has 3 goals and 6 assists in the PL this season. Bra.
20 Apr 2025 19:05:28
Bradley can better that.
20 Apr 2025 19:05:48
Didn’t souness move because he didn’t like being dropped?
20 Apr 2025 19:15:49
I would imagine if Arsenal were a lot closer then you might see a more focused Liverpool. The team has played really well for most of the season, they are now trying to coast to the finish line.

The Souness comparison couldn’t be more wrong if you tried. Souness moved on at the end of his career and we got a very good fee for him. Arnold is in his prime and he’s going for nothing. I don’t wish him well if he leaves. If he stays, great, if he goes then I hope it goes badly.

I couldn’t care less about Trent, I only want players who want to play for the club and I gather he doesn’t, otherwise he’d be more definitive in his answers. He’ll keep quiet until the end of the season to avoid any adverse reactions and then give us some rubbish letter. It’s also nothing like Souness leaving for Sampdoria.
20 Apr 2025 19:38:16
That is a very jaundiced and bitter view. In view off that I hope you have a terrible nights sleep.

The team one win away from winning the Premiership at Easter needs serious investment.
Can't quite get my head around that one.

VV, that’s awfully mean-spirited. Trent has played around the same amount of games Souness played for us. He wants an easier league, and one which helps his international chances. Good luck to the lad - he is a class act (on and off the pitch), and I wish him well.

Agree Irish and VV.

@Batman, what’s the point in imagining Arsenal being a lot closer to us? They aren’t and the reason they aren’t is because the team you are slagging off have only lost 2 out of 33 league games this season, have scored more goals than anybody else in the league, have the 2nd lowest number of goals conceded in the leagues and have the best goal difference in the league.
20 Apr 2025 20:10:01
Posters still think Trent might stay n treating him like a brother going off to war or something stupid like that. he's gone but for no fee. an absolute disgrace .

TAA going off without the club getting a fee, is more on the club's management, than on TAA. They knew the expiry date of the contract the day it was signed. They had easily 2 years to take care of the issue. But couldn't. End of story.

Souness never left to play in another league he left because his wife inherited millions and would be taxed heavily on her money .
