Can I ask ed 01 do you think we still win the league this season if klopp had stayed? Same transfers but klopp in charge
I would say no especially with linders as assistant, we would have crumbled around feb and let arsenal back into it.
{Ed001's Note - that is such a tough question. It wouldn't have been the same transfers as Edwards would not be back and wouldn't have brought his mates in, if Klopp was still here. The collapse last season might not have happened if Klopp had stayed as the players wouldn't have put so much into every game trying to win for him. Things would be so different. But I do think it would have been tougher with Klopp, as Pep would not have been so lax in the summer and would have bought to compete. On that basis, probably not. I don't see Arsenal as the threat, not while they have Arteta, he is not a winner, he is an oddball.}}

Not really. Klopp had burned out and ran out of ideas.
Grav was looking out of place and we were questioning why did we buy him in the first place as no one knew what his role was.
Maybe Endo / Eliott would have played more and we would have been in the race to CL position. maybe?

Interesting your opinion on arteta ed1, u don't rate him particularly highly?
{Ed001's Note - no. Spent huge amounts of money and still sits second every year. The guy is the Spanish Brendan Rodgers - does stupid things trying to be clever.}
24 Apr 2025 10:34:09
Hear what you say, Ed, but they could conceivably win the Champions League.
{Ed001's Note - yes cups they can win, but it is a league title that shows winners from losers. Cups can be won by flukes, you don't get enough points over 38 games by luck alone.}

Interesting one Ed on Arteta. I talked with a lot of Arsenal fans who convinced that Arteta will come good. Some even convinced that he is in the group of elite managers in world football right now.
If you could list your top 5 manager in the EPL right now, who would you put in your list Ed? Would Arteta be in it?
24 Apr 2025 10:40:11
Ed01, you took the words re: Arteta being the Spanish BR right out of my keyboard. All the things Arteta says or does reminds me of BR esp. in the season we definitely should have won the title. The arrogance with which he speaks is out of this world. Like BR, Arteta takes responsibility for absolutely nothing and takes all the credit for things going well. Arsenal are welcome to that smug mug, IMO and I hope they keep him. Man's approaching a billion spent on transfers and he still acts like he's Ancelotti or Jose. Get out of here, man.
As for Klopp, I fully agree with you cos there are too many if's and maybes and you are right, Pep would not have been relaxed and pushed their squad revamp off another year with Klopp around cos we all know he does not respect Arteta and Arsenal BUT he fears Klopp and LFC like the plague.

{Ed001's Note - Arteta? God no. Pep, Slot, Iraola, Emery and Nuno. Then there are people like Frank still ahead of Arteta. You can't spend so much money and win so little in so long and still be considered a top manager.}

I wasn’t hating on klopp either he was what we needed when he came, passion and aggression but slot has also been what we’ve needed now we have evolved, calmness and a measured approach especially against lesser teams rather than gung ho, that Norwich game springs to mind when I think of klopp.

Klopp’s a legend and Arne is about to become a legend in my eyes. Managers who’ve ‘won the big ones’. Champions domestically or Champions of Europe = legend.
24 Apr 2025 12:47:34
He has spent a fair wedge of. cash has Arteta.
24 Apr 2025 14:13:43
That makes Arteta a "potential" legend in your eyes then, Ron. Not agreeing or disagreeing with you.
24 Apr 2025 12:10:36
Love that opinion on Arteta Ed
He gets an absolute free ride from what appears to be a mainly “London based” press.
How long can he keep getting away with “trust the process” and not win a title or add to his one cup win?
He has spent an absolute fortune and arguably should have done way more with the depth of squad and players at his disposal.

Everything in life has an expiry date. And I think Klopp's time with LFC was over regardless of the reasons; being burn out, lack of energy, tactically unable to progress further or many others. I don't think he felt he could go any further with this group of players with the tactical strategies he knew how to use.
However my utmost respect and admiration for Klopp is unquestioned. He pulled us out from misery and he's up there with Shankly and Paisley for me. (Benitez doesn't strike the same chord for me, for some reason.
Slot has shown what he can do with "somebody else's players". The 19 other teams have had a season to play him, study his tactical choices and see how he likes to play football, and he soon has to make his player choices after the summer. Then they'll come gunning for him and we'll see what he's really made of.
24 Apr 2025 12:45:51
Ed, please excuse me if it's been asked before - do you rate Marco Silva?
{Ed001's Note - I forgot about him, another above Arteta for me. He is inconsistent, needs the right backroom, but he gets his team playing attractive football and decent results. Just needs the right defensive coaches to help him, as his teams can otherwise be a bit disorganised at the back.}
24 Apr 2025 13:38:10
Would love to hear more about him being an oddball Ed. I can't stand the guy and can't put my finger on why.
{Ed001's Note - all the strange stuff he does for team meetings. Like that bizarre thing with the pickpockets at their club dinner, which was supposedly to teach them to always be aware, but that's just nonsense. Then there was the time they were getting battered in the first half, so at half time he cooked a chicken and ate it in the dressing room, all without saying a word. Unsurprisingly they lost. He is just trying to be really clever, but actually isn't a very clever person, so it just ends up being odd or stupid.}
24 Apr 2025 14:28:55
ED001, good shout on Unai Emery. the most overlooked manager when plaudits are given out. won plenty of trophies and turned Villa into a very capable side . I thought he was on to a no win situation at Arsenal, they loved Wenger n wanted a Wenger mark2.
24 Apr 2025 15:09:54
Ed001 I’ve just had to google that half time chicken story as I’d never heard it before.
Absolutely brilliant.
{Ed001's Note - he is clearly clinically insane if he thought that would motivate his players.}
24 Apr 2025 15:39:16
Spanish Brendan is about right.
If he isn't running away with the league by Christmas next season, he'll be a goner.
24 Apr 2025 16:26:01
Lol Ed1, I didn't know the chicken story either, that's hilarious ?. What an absolute tool, he always has been though hasn't he, one of them for me - he will never take Arsenal to the next level. One day they'll see that.
24 Apr 2025 16:45:23
Remember when he took training before he faced us a few years back amd had speakers blasting out YNWA to try and mimic Anfield so the players would be used to it.
We thumped them 4-0.
Whats your opinion on Glasner Ed? Had a fairly poor start but really turned it around and looking likely to have their best Prem Finish. Had some success before Palace as well.
{Ed001's Note - I like the look of Glasner, takes time to get going but seems to have done very well with Palace. He would also be above Arteta for me.}
24 Apr 2025 16:48:14
The question on everyone's lips is the same; what spice level was on the chicken? Plain-ish, Lemon and herb, Mild, Medium or Hot!
24 Apr 2025 17:12:40
Eating a roast chicken in the dressing room ? he definitely got this from pep! Gone are the days of adidas preds hitting a player in the face, now they just have to suffer watching him eat a full roast chicken in 15mins. if it would’ve been a slab of rump steak they would’ve won that game ? class!

Hi Rome, couldn’t care less about Arsenal’s legends I’m talking about LFC legends and that’s my criteria for managers.
Having said that, if Arteta wins the Champions league, I’m sure Arsenal fans will consider him a legend.
24 Apr 2025 19:17:26
Fair play, Ron. It's a sound barometer for Liverpool legends.
