You need an attacking midfielder or no 10 scoring 15 to 20 goals a season if we want to challenge on all fronts. We WERE lucky with the fall of from arsenal but especially man city. We know that areas that need addressed but midfield can certainly be improved. Sorry but sobosli can fight for his place. Having a great engine isn't enough especially for his price tag and hype.
25 Apr 2025 22:23:08
Yeah we need the best goal difference in the league by an extra 15-20.
25 Apr 2025 22:35:54
We could finish with 94 pts, City at their absolute best only managed a few pts more. Luck hasn't come into it, we have been the best team by some way.
25 Apr 2025 22:49:08
Lucky? We have 79 points from 33 games, or 2.39 points per game.
Last season: Man City won the league with 2.39 points per game (91)
22/ 23: Man City won the league with 2.34 points per game (89)
21/ 22: Man City won the league with 2.45 points per game (93)
20/ 21: Man City won the league with 2.26 points per game (86)
We keep that rate up and it seems were about on par with the champions over the last 4 seasons.

@Batman, we WEREN’T lucky. Irrespective of what everybody else did or don’t do we still had to play well enough week in, week out to win games. We’ve lost 2 out of 33 games, the least number of games lost in the league. We have 6 more wins than anybody else in the league, we have the highest number of goals scored, the second best goal conceded and the best goal difference in the league. Saying we are lucky is simply factually incorrect.
We need better players (we always need better players), that isn’t in doubt and we need our manager to have learned lessons after his first season in the PL. the club management need to take the lessons learned in dropping the ball - certainly from a PR perspective if nothing else.
We are far from perfect but the squad and club seems to be on an upward trajectory. Who was it said ‘the harder I worked the luckier I seemed to get’.
The club is in a good place because it deserves to be not because anybody else didn’t live up to expectations.
Soap box down, brings on the Spuds and let’s make it 20.
{Ed025's Note - its only 2 not 20 WDW, dont you know football never started until 1992 mate with the introduction if the Premier League.. :)

Seeing rumours of Palmer. Of course utter nonsense but I would love him at Anfield. What a player to take us up a level irrespective of his recent dip in form.
26 Apr 2025 06:24:56
What's the point of moaning about future title prospects if you can't enjoy the title this year? Why do you even bother supporting the reds? Internet and social media has ruined us.
26 Apr 2025 07:17:09
Which 10 scores 15-20 goals a season in this league anyway? Cole Palmer? He has 14 goals (14 all comps) but he is also by far their main source of goals this year and I don't think anybody would say he has had a better season than our Dom overall. Morgan Rogers has 8 goals (14 all comps), odegaard has 2 (5 all comps), gibbs-white 5, Maddison 9 (11 all comps) . Szoboszlai has 5 (7 all comps) . I would suggest based on the evidence that the figure you came up with is pretty damn unrealistic all things considered.
26 Apr 2025 07:22:08
Nah. We are at where we are right now not because of luck. I hate the narrative that the league is bad hence we are on top. If the other top teams are bad this season, and we are not, what's wrong to just admit that we are the better team this season? isn't that simple? Why need to twist it around by saying stuffs like this?
26 Apr 2025 07:23:43
Ed25. Which premier league would that be? Haven’t there been like 10 different iterations in the last 30+ years?
{Ed025's Note - its all about money since SKY got involved Phil, dont get me wrong i like the amount of televised games but people tend to forget the history before then mate...like when Everton were the top dogs.. :)
26 Apr 2025 07:40:28
Do me a favour Batman and list out the no 10’s in world have managed 15-20 goals this season?
Will be interesting to see if they play for Inter or Barcelona or PSG as they’re the only teams who are challenging on all fronts this season.
Dani Olmo has 10 goals this season (1 of those in the champs league so not helping out much there with his goals) . Sure, he’s missed a fair amount of games but still, if you score 90% of your goals in the league, that one player is hardly impacting you challenging on all fronts with his goals as you say? They’re also challenging on all front in spite of not having the illustrious 15-20 goal CAM
Hakan Calhanoglu at Inter has 10 goals (he’s their highest scoring midfielder this season) .
PSG highest scoring midfielder is Vitinha with 7
So none of the clubs who are challenging on all fronts are as a result of a 15-20 goal CAM
Bayern’s Musiala hits your criteria of having scored 18 goals so far this season. Are they challenging on more front than Liverpool managed to? NOPE!
Bellingham is close and may well do it by the end of the season as he currently has 13 goals in all comps. It’s likely the best they can hope for is a Copa Del Rey this season unfortunately…
The season we nearly won the quad under Klopp, remind who our 15-20 goal CAM was that season?
Liverpool are forth in goals scored all comps across Europe this year and the only team above us in that list with a 15-20 goal CAM is Bayern.
26 Apr 2025 07:58:13
It's really funny to me how everyone can claim it's the weakest league ever yet at the same time no other teams are capable of putting championship winning form together except us despite the opposition being 'easy'
26 Apr 2025 08:14:57
From a chances created point of view Szob is the 4th highest in our squad (Salah, Diaz Trent) in the PL with around 2 chances a game.
The only difference between a chance created and an assist is the finish.
Salah and Trent are seen as our play makers but Szobs chances created aren’t far off the two. It’s just Mo’s assists are way higher but Trent and Szob can’t affect the persons finishing they are setting up.
26 Apr 2025 09:28:34
Nobody gets lucky over 38 games. You also don't go 13 points clear in the Prem through luck.
Whoever wins the league has to earn it, often with a slice of luck thrown in.
It's amazing that Liverpool fans try to denigrate what has been an incredible first season for Arne Slot.
26 Apr 2025 09:32:53
The lucky tag being labelled at us due to arsenal’s and city’s drop off is a nonsense. Everybody has the same opponents to play and we have done far better against those. If you look at the league table from last season, barring city, arsenal, united and spurs, nearly every other league position/ team will finish with higher points totals (obviously not including the bottom three in this) . So, as the bulk of the league has got stronger, we have maintained our level against these better teams. We’ve had a great season, deserve it, so let’s enjoy it without compromise!
Cheers.
26 Apr 2025 09:45:27
With Szob I genuinely believe if we sign another midfielder his levels will increase. Like Henderson and Wijnaldum when we got Naby Keita.
The 2 in midfield just know they are are miles above Jones, Elliot and Morton. So you don’t really have that threat of losing your place if you have a few games below par
Slot doesn’t really fancy Elliot so if we end up replacing him for a player he will actually use, the levels of Szob and Mac will rise even further imo.
26 Apr 2025 10:08:31
Troll harder troll.
26 Apr 2025 10:18:34
here we go lol this is giving me trauma of fans harping on forever that we need a 20-goal / season striker lol
blah blah blah for me.
whatever it takes to win titles.
We didn't miss out on the other cups due to not having a #10 score 15-20 goals this year.
FFS we don't even play with a #10.
26 Apr 2025 10:55:49
So you think szoboszlai is playing within himself because he feels comfortable and doesn't need to try as hard? Really? This is the same lad who runs himself into the ground every time he takes to the pitch?
Or could it be because he has so much work to do in our system off the ball that his output on the ball might suffer? Or that the way he is asked to play his role might have something to do with it? Maybe if we tweak our pressing structure so that he has a bit less to do, and figure out how to deploy the attack on our right hand side more clearly with him, mo and Conor, we will see a different szoboszlai next year?
This is a team still taking shape and szoboszlai is still new to the role he's playing under slot. I'm pretty certain he will continue to develop in tandem with slot's evolving structure and as the pieces of that structure fall into place.

Semibythesea3, Greggers, Flash, Faithworks etc. I am really starting to believe that we have active trolls within our midst on this site. Cos that is the only way one can explain how an LFC "fan" could say that LFC (or any other team) can essentially fluke a league title. I expect such bitter rubbish from a sore loser rival fan, not from a certified LFC fan.
26 Apr 2025 13:14:13
You forgot to mention me Oli : (.
26 Apr 2025 13:25:26
I agree with you Oli that some Liverpool fans are certifiable.
26 Apr 2025 15:28:18
Luck over 38 games? What are the statistical probabilities of that? Practically zero and everyone knows it, despite the loud whinging.
You don't like the style of play? Understandable. You don't like the coach or some of the players? Understandable. You don't like the owners because they run LFC like a responsible fiscal subsidiary? Understandable. But don't say we won because of luck.
We will win because we are the best, this season. This is both the beginning and end of the story. Go ahead and have your opinion by all means, but sprinkle a healthy amount of realism into what you're dishing out to everyone.
26 Apr 2025 18:13:28
What exactly is ‘competing on all fronts’?
If you are somehow expecting us to win every trophy every season then I’m afraid you are in for a life of disappointment.
The league is by far the most important and any team that is capable of winning the league is capable of competing in all of the other competitions as well. The problem is that the other completions are knock out cup competitions and so the best team doesn’t always win them. You need a lot of luck.
The best team wins the league, you don’t win the league with luck. You win the league by being consistently the best team over a 9 month period.
We have been the best team over the last 9 months which proves that we are capable of competing on all fronts. The fact that we haven’t won all 4 is just the way football works, it has no bearing on whether we are capable of challenging for all 4. We are.
As for a 15-20 goal a season 10? It would be easier to find a unicorn in your garden.
26 Apr 2025 11:41:02
@25, to be fair, we are probably in a group of about 10 or so people on the forum who can remember far enough back to the days when Everton were challenging for stuff.
{Ed025's Note - but those days are coming back WDW...and you can take that to the bank mate.. :)
26 Apr 2025 12:05:38
@25, I was working down in Portsmouth in the days when Sky started with the footy. I used to go to a pub in Southsea with a gang of lads who supported different teams to watch the ‘Monday Night Live’ game and it was the end of the era of football as a game. All they ever talked about on Sky, before the match, at half time and after the march was how much more exciting the next week’s match was going to be. They weren’t actually interested in football, they were interested in making money from football.
{Ed025's Note - absolutely right WDW and its still like that today mate, teams are playing too many games and some of them only a couple of days apart to appease the paymasters at SKY and other servers, its all about money and greed now ..
27 Apr 2025 08:09:42
Where abouts in Portsmouth WDW and can you remember the pubs name? Apologies if it sounds like the third degree but genuinely interested
I’ve done about 10 years worth of work in Portsmouth. Last stint only ended there in Feb.
