I've been looking through potential striker targets, and I can't see any that would be realistic - with a price tag below 70 million. The only one is Liam Delap. After that, they all require us to fork out 9 digits. But we don't seem to be interested in Delap, do we Ed?
{Ed001's Note - not that I am aware of and doubt he would be cheap either. City's buyback clause only applies if they want him. Everyone else will have to pay up.}
29 Apr 2025 17:36:45
Delap ain't good enuff for us and for what we're trying to be and where were trying to go so I ain't "paying up" for that guy, personally.
29 Apr 2025 18:14:09
Where did £70m come from?
We’ve spent more on Darwin so I don’t see that as a barrier.
Cunha is less than £70m.
Delap would be money down the drain.

Don't be tight, Oli.
Get your piggy bank emptied for us.

I read Oshimen has a 60m release clause, I think that was on Sky somewhere I read that. I imagine wages would be high for him though.
29 Apr 2025 18:48:10
Well going off your £70m. Add onto that whatever we get for Nunez and Kelleher, go get Isak ???♂️.
29 Apr 2025 18:54:29
Osimhen just seems like too much of a knob. Open dissent towards his manager at Napoli, throwing away a year of his career in Turkey because of stupid wage demands. Feels like he’d fail the dickhead test.
{Ed001's Note - the dissent was because the club made a racist tweet about him.}
29 Apr 2025 18:57:50
Read that too Frode and think as Ron said, Cunha clause is about £60m something too - don't think the wage expectations are as high as previously reported though
I'd love Isak tbh but if you were to get those two for the same sort of amount you'd think that would be more prudent.
29 Apr 2025 19:22:37
Ed001 who do you think we might push for mate in the striker department or anyone you know of interest please?
{Ed001's Note - not yet mate, can we not just enjoy the moment?}
29 Apr 2025 19:36:59
I’d go for Issak or Oshimen.
29 Apr 2025 19:55:07
Here’s an idea why don’t we find the next gyokeres or Isak ourselves?
{Ed001's Note - that is exactly what Hughes was appointed to do, to find hidden gems, rather than big names.}
29 Apr 2025 20:59:23
If other teams can find gems surely we should be able to find a few. We know slot can coach and improve players so it's about time we save ourselves millions by unearthing some hidden talents.
29 Apr 2025 21:36:21
I can see the forward signing being a hidden gem this year.
29 Apr 2025 21:41:09
Have you forgotten about the gems we have found recently, RedScarface?
29 Apr 2025 21:47:14
We saved millions in the last two windows and some people were quite perturbed by it.
If you look at Bournemouth they seem to have uncovered quite a few gems in the last couple of years - Kerkez, Huijsen, Zabarnyi, Semenyo etc - be great to get the guy on board who signed them up, or perhaps the next crop of potential talent.
29 Apr 2025 22:01:00
WDW . saved millions? . you mean we haven't spent . big difference.
29 Apr 2025 22:15:16
No way WDW, what a bold idea. But maybe our supporters would prefer it if we snapped up these players once they became a PL success, you know, just so we can get super excited about how many big millions they cost?
29 Apr 2025 22:16:51
I don't think Hughes signed Huijsen, WDW.
I reckon he was at Liverpool when Huijsen signed for Bournemouth.
Hughes certainly helped Liverpool find a gem in Arne Slot though.
29 Apr 2025 22:32:13
I'm certain ed2 found arne slot and hughes jumped on the bandwagon.
29 Apr 2025 22:50:32
And now they’re going to believe us! Champions!
29 Apr 2025 23:51:02
You're certain about that, are you, RedScarface?
Ed002 informed us about Liverpool's interest in Slot.
30 Apr 2025 00:50:52
ed1 - totally agree, let's enjoy the moment. Trophy lift on the 26th (our time) and then we can look ahead to next season.
In saying that, I'm kind of dreading the next few games and a potential drop in our team's performance levels lol.
