Well done Harvey, Jarrel and Tyler!

Doubly for Harvey given he won player of the tournament too.

I really am torn on what we should do with him!

28 Jun 2025 23:10:25
I would really like to see Harvey stay and get more opportunities
His attitude and love for the club is exactly what a squad needs during a long season.

28 Jun 2025 23:15:26
Zed, you've caught the common malady called MOTD Fever. Go to bed early and take an aspirin. you'll want to sell Elliott in the morning. ?

Seriously speaking, having bought Wirtz and actively looking for another midfielder, where is the space in the squad? One of Elliot or Jones, have to make way. I wouldn't favor these two ahead of Szoboszlai or Mac Allister.

28 Jun 2025 23:30:02
Really would like to give him a loan rather than immediately selling. Would probably need to sign a contract extension first though with only 2 years on his deal.

Salah will be off in 2 years, there aren’t that many top quality left footed wingers about, certainly none that come close to Salah. I don’t see why Harvey can’t replace him in a few years if he continues to develop, rather than gambling on someone random who could cost a fair bit of money and still flop.

Bernardo Silva joined City at 23, and was their first choice Right Wing for the most part ever since (sometimes playing midfield but mainly on the right) . Harvey is a similar profile, you don’t need to be lightning quick to play there if you have pace in other positions. We could easily tweak the system and have the likes of Frimpong, a fast striker, Szobo etc brining the pace and running in behind.

So loan him out for a year, worst thing that’ll happen is he doesn’t kick on and we sell him for 5-10m less than we could get this summer, but too soon to give up on him now.

28 Jun 2025 23:34:58
Not at all Aray. I’ve always been on the fence about Harvey. Wirtz now plays in his best position (as he isn’t fast enough to understudy Salah on the wing.

One posted said a few days ago whether Elliot could now understudy Salah with Frimpong providing the overlapping pace?

He is a special player, I’d love to have him around our squad and able to carve a niche for himself. But also deserves to become all he can be as a footballer, so I guess the decision is ultimately his.

I’d be made up if he stayed because that would mean that he and Slot found a role for him.

28 Jun 2025 23:44:31
As I said below I’m with DK97.

29 Jun 2025 00:04:53
Antony looked like the best player in the world in the u-21 world cup then the olympics with the Brazil u-23. let's sign him up because of that too!

29 Jun 2025 00:24:12
I am massively torn on Elliot. My heart says keep him, my head says let him go. He can cover RW, 10 and Macca's role and the more advanced CM.
But can we afford to not accept a £30M plus offer for someone that's not going to be in the first 11?
Well if he inserted a bit back for Quansah (? ) we almost certainly will for Elliot.

29 Jun 2025 00:35:04
I don't deny Elliott's talent at all, Zed. The question is still space in the squad and whose minutes he takes away. Or as you put it, which role does he play? Wirtz will mop up whatever little game time Elliott could have taken this coming season. And Jones seems to be above Elliott in Slot's pecking order. It's a hard choice, but it's a good place to be, for the club. Maybe he can return under a buy back if he does exceptionally well elsewhere, and a midfielder or two are moved on from our current squad? I don't see any other way out. It'd be scandalous if the club kept him to play only in the Carabao and FA Cups.

29 Jun 2025 00:49:37
So different to the premier league.
I trust Slot’s judgement.

29 Jun 2025 07:06:03
In an ideal world, he’s another I’d sell with a buy back clause.

For him to hit his potential he needs games, and a season or two at someone like Brighton would do him the world of good.

But from a financial perspective the money in the bank would be huge, and if we can add a buy back, we limit the risk. Plus with him being a Liverpool fan, I think he’d always keep the door open to us.

I just don’t think we can turn down 40m (if that’s the figure) and give the lad a couple of starts a season.

29 Jun 2025 07:12:25
Elliot’s had a great tournament but he was playing against players 22 and under in an under 21 contest.

Unfortunately it’s different parameters in the premier league.

I’d be more than happy to see him stay and play more but I just don’t see why this tournament would change Slots mind when he saw him every day in training last season.

29 Jun 2025 07:26:54
A hugely talented technician but not good enough for LFC due to mobility, or limitation of that. I watched him outpaced numerous times at the tournament and, let’s face it, the U21 is like the championship compared to the prem. Harvey would be a great and regularly playing addition to a mid to lower table prem side and be a star man in a top half championship side. His attitude yes no one can doubt and ultimate pro.

29 Jun 2025 09:28:32
Don’t bite my head off but….

Harvey only has 45mins in him of the stsndard required to be challenging for major honours

His game does drop off over the course of 90mins if he’s a starter. You can’t carry that if you expect to challenge for honours.

29 Jun 2025 10:11:25
Harvey is a really good squad player. The question is whether that’s the best for him or what he wants.

29 Jun 2025 10:17:13
I understand the level and age of the players at the U21 Euros but its not as if Harveys 29 playing in it, he's also just a young footballer still learning who will get better and is younger than the likes of McAtee and Anderson. One thing i will say is i don't think i can name any other club around where one of the young players would get POTT at the Euros and still be sold. Most would be shouting from the rooftops about what a future star they have. If Harvey is sold it has to be after all avenues to sell Nunez, Chiesa nd Jota have been exhausted first. Even through the middle as a false nine the kid would do better than Jota did last season.

29 Jun 2025 10:25:52
I thought Harvey looked more dangerous than Szobo against low block teams. I also feel he didn’t get enough game time last season compared to Jones who is an inferior player for me. I’d keep him as a squad player but that may not suit him and with Wirtz coming that may limit opportunities further. Shame really.

29 Jun 2025 10:55:31
Elliott is the same age as Wirtz.

29 Jun 2025 11:24:17
Elliot’s quality has never been in question. But if Slot won’t Use him then he should be sold
Elliot, Endo, Chiesa, Nunez, Quansah, Morton…

We all know he doesn’t rate them so they’ll have to Go regardless of what we think.

29 Jun 2025 12:31:43
Exactly Rigsby, and has part of that absolutely massive record breaking fee we've paid for Wirtz not been paid in view of his huge potential and expectation of him continuing to improve with age? Because on where he is now, as incredible as Wirtz is i would not have paid £116m for a No.10 with 10 Bundesliga goals last season.

29 Jun 2025 16:03:32
What if Salah or Wirtz get injured next season and we’ve sold Elliot? Where does that leave us? It’s a squad game. We need to keep our best players.

{Ed077's Note - Elliot will probably be injured by that time ? Keeping a more injury prone player to backup a player who rarely even gets subbed off, let alone injured, is quite ridiculous, For the said player too. For his own career Harvey needs a move. He won't get his couple of games every International break anymore either

29 Jun 2025 17:24:19
Elliott is not one of our best players.
