I think we're going to hear a little bit more on Isak tomorrow ?.
09 Aug 2025 01:11:00
Howe's comments were quite telling today. Basically said that they've gone passed the point where they can just tell Isak to shut up and play for them.
Wissa may be on his way so it's a question of whether they will sanction a sale with only 1 forward through the door or do they wait for a 2nd.
Whatever happens, Newcastle have had a stinker of a summer as they've been rejected 8 times by players they thought they were going to sign. All that after winning a trophy and getting in the CL.

By this time next week he'll be a Liverpool player.

I feel sorry for the fans - they have always been great fans, supporting the team through thick or thin and they thought their ship had landed when Staveley and PIF ride into town. They seemed to be building something last season and now they can’t keep their star CF or seem to bring in as good a replacement.
Contrast that with United - Cunha, Mbueno and Sesko @£200m with the Glazers and Ineos somehow keeping with PSR despite not winning anything last year, losing out on £100m CL revenue, the stadium falling to bits an Ratcliffe sacking a considerable percentage of the backroom staff and getting rid of the ‘free lunches’ (as we’ve been told, there’s no such thing) .
I’d have no problem whatsoever with Newcastle finishing runners up behind us in the PL and United getting relegated.

Wdw I think united have decided to ignore psr this season with the view of worrying about it when they get back into Europe. I am surprised about how poorly Newcastle have handled the transfer season but I suppose it underlines why ed2 thought so highly of their old dof.

I don’t think Newcastle have handled the transfer season badly at all. They’ve tried to sign numerous forwards and their star forward has been unsettled by Liverpool and now wants to move. Pretty sure it wasn’t in their plans to replace Isak and other forwards have chose other teams. Not much more they can do, except maybe keep Isak for another season under duress ?♂️.

The striker (s) they eventually sign could well be better in the PL than Sesko. And the money could pay for two no. 9s who produce as many goal involvements as Isak was doing on his own. We don’t know. Wissa, Kolo Muani and Aghehowa are no slouches.

It's v disappointing for Newcastle as a team and the fans as it looked as they building v nicely last season. They had best striker in prem and there midfield 3 as good as any midfield 3in league in imo.
Unfortunately it happens as we know with torres, suarez and countinho to name but 3. Our best player in team or close to it wanting out to join a team that futher on in the process and better chance of winning things. better wage also. V hard for a 'non traditional ' powerhouse to move up ladder with psr nowadays.

I know Newcastle have missed out on quite a few targets, but if we can get Isak and they can get Wissa and Jackson to go with Elanga, Gordon, Murphy, Bruno, Tonali and Barnes / I think they’ve done pretty well.

PSR restrictions my arse. You can’t just expect to jump from fighting relegation a few years ago, to winning the league.
You know the rules, they are what they are.
Newcastle are doing okay, it’s heading in a good direction. they're on the journey towards where they all want to be.
It’ll take a few years, all this blame culture, demanding instant success, nobody is allowed to take a player off us. I don’t know who they think they are, they’re a tiny tiny club that’s growing. Enjoy the ride and stop throwing all your toys out the pram blaming everything, Villa are in the same boat but they seem to be enjoying the journey and not crying on the internet/ radio every 2 minutes.

They have a spectacularly efficient midfield. They’ll always be hard to compete with because of that.
09 Aug 2025 09:42:07
I don't feel sorry for Newcastle fans. Their best player wants to go to the League title holders and they are competing in the transfer markets with us and other clubs that won League titles. They will have to move onto other targets.
United fans have supported their team through thick and thin, as well. Look at their crowds when they were relegated. However much we want United to fail, we can't deny that it is a huge club with a massive following.

Newcastle are having to deal with what the big clubs have had to deal with for years. Keegan, Rush, macmanaman, owen, suarez, torres, macherano, Trent and almost Gerrard all were got at to leave LFC we had to grin and bare it so Newcastle if they want to be one of the big boys they best get used to this it is part of the game and i mean no disrespect to Newcastle football club. YNWA.
