Hi all, whilst I am excited by the prospect of having Isak in the team I have growing concerns around his whole attitude towards getting out of Newcastle. Yes he may well of notified NUFC of his desire to leave however he signed a long contract and is handsomely rewarded for his services. Pushing for a move is one thing but going on strike and throwing your toys out of the pram is another, he should (in my opinion) at the very least behave like a professional!
If Real Madrid come knocking in 2-years and he treats us the same way, imagine the meltdown on this sight. I hope his actions are not being blown out of proportion and we don't end up with a poisonous individual in our squad.
{Ed025's Note - i said the same a few weeks ago Tosh..

We were happy enough to take Virgil weren’t we? I can’t see any difference ?♂️.

If we got c£150m and plenty of notice like Newcastle have had (they’ve known for ages) we would probably be ok with it.
Personally I’ll just enjoy each game as it comes and not get too worried about things out of my control.

Look, we're all reading the same reports, and it isn't a good look for the player or the team.
However, if the reports are to be believed, the narrative that is emerging is that Isak was promised a pay rise up from his £120k to a higher figure last summer.
It didn't materialise due to PSR and then Staveley left causing another void (not dissimilar to Trent's situation, except that Isak had a few years to run) .
As a result of not being compensated to (what he believes) is his worth, he told Newcastle 24/ 25 would be his final season and he would like to leave.
Conflicting reports that Newcastle accepted this at the time, who knows?
He then advised the team of his intention to leave in May.
Then the whole media show took over - are the Saudi's driving the narrative in the media? Don't know.
So, in my mind it's not as clearcut as Countinho's back or Suarez's bite, it appears to be a bit different.
I guess from my PoV, I have some sympathy for the player, and let's see what happens when he joins.
I am very excited to get an elite striker in, and if we follow up with Guehi, YLFP and Fofana, wow, my mind will be blown! Never thought I would see us spend close to £500m in one window, even if we are recovering (probably) around £300m of that in sales.

But Tosh, if he did come to us and in 2 years Real Madrid came knocking and he told us he wanted to leave we would firstly sit down and talk to him, offer him what we can give him to stay and if he still wanted to leave we would negotiate the best price we could with Real Madrid and sell him.
This whole saga has been brought on by Newcastle trying to hold onto a player who doesn’t want to be there.
I get that he signed a contract and I’ve heard people say that in the real world if you refuse to go to work there are consequences etc etc but in reality if you tell your boss you want to leave your job they don’t hold you to ransom and say you can’t leave.
Isak has an opportunity that he doesn’t want to miss for his career and his family, you can understand him doing all he can to make it happen. The animosity and drama has all been caused by Newcastle’s stubbornness and refusal to just move on.

Looks like ed25 is believing the Newcastle PR train? Nobody knows what's really gone on or promised.
{Ed001's Note - if a year's notice isn't enough, then I am not sure what more the lad can do.}

You can't worry about the future, who would have predicted the Trent situation?
From a positive perspective VVD basically did the same as Isak and looks at his loyalty to us.
Just got to enjoy the players whilst they're here.

I'm with you ed01 I was replying to ed25, he is giving comments like merse and gabby, which to be fair who would want to be in the same bracket.

Gykores did the exact same thing like 2 weeks ago. Nobody gave a flying duck. Wissa is doing the exact same thing as we speak. Nobody gives.
The only reason it’s mainstream news is because the Champions are involved.
All this will be resolved soon and the Newcastle Media meltdown will have been for absolutely nothing.

Have we not just been through the exact same situation with Diaz? He wanted a bigger contract, we said no, he wanted to explore more lucrative options, so we let him, then once the player asked to leave, we dealt with the club and got the best deal we could.
Newcastles value of the player vs the amount he is being renumerated don't marry up.
It's also not Isaks fault that Newcastle are so poorly run that they can't sign a suitable replacement.
If he's not happy at the club, how else is he supposed to conduct himself?
{Ed025's Note - how about he just fulfill,s the lucrative contract he signed with Newcastle Redman?, then at the end of said contract he can do as he wishes, dont lets make out like this is modern day slavery mate..

That’s ridiculous Ed25. What if he’s miserable at Newcastle? What if he doesn’t get on with the manager? Or some of the players?
What if, and I’m going off something that Rome1977 told me earlier, he’s had so many break ins at his home that his family don’t feel safe and want to move away?
The point is there are a miriad of reasons why a player might want to leave a club so for the club to hold a player against their will is just wrong. They can try to persuade him to stay with bigger contracts, a new house in a different area etc etc but if he still wants to go just sell him. They will get very highly remunerated for him, let’s not make out like Newcastle are being so hard done by here.
This is people’s lives and they should be allowed to make their own choices about where they want to work and live.
{Ed025's Note - thats the trouble with people today Robbo, he was not moaning when he signed the bloody contract for squillions of pounds was he?, then along come Liverpool to tap him up and offer more squillions and now it appears that he is the victim ffs, seen it all mate in this snow flake society and when Trent done a similar thing he was the devil incarnate, tell me this my friend....what is the friggin use of contracts if you can terminate them when you want?..
12 Aug 2025 21:46:39
Sorry ED25, have you seen his contract or privvy to what they promised him, maybe he signed it knowing Newcastle would get a big fee, promiding they would let him leave? Just another take.
{Ed025's Note - all ifs and buts John, he is under contract to Newcastle mate and for me that should be the end of the story, call back in 3 years when the contract is up and we can discuss things..

As Ed25 says it is all abit off nowdays with how players engineer a move. Unfortunately now its part and parcel of football. We was all giving Trent pelters when we knew what he was doing but then are all happy now with isak, so i guess its swings and round abouts really. Happens to every club i think as everyone knows the only club susceptible are Real Madrid.
