A few weeks ago people were over the moon with the transfer window, FSG actually spent money and the players we brought in all world class etc. A few weeks later we are top of the league, the performances have been not the best but neither has anyone elses, if they had been we wouldn't be sitting 2 points clear at the top of the most difficult league in world football.
We lose 2 games and all of a sudden the players are not good enough, Slot is not good enough, were a mess etc etc, Liverpool's mantra is you never walk alone?
We've had a small wobble, but things will come good over the coming weeks. we have had an international break that never helps, players need to bed in and adapt to not only a new league but a new country!

Exactly. I’ve just watched Arsenal stumble over the line at home to Olympiacos and City draw away at Monaco. It’s not just Liverpool that don’t look convincing right now.

There is actually a thing called the adaptation process. No one knows how long it will take but it will happen. Unless it doesn't happen and players do actually hit the ground running.
Some players actually don't adapt but are allowed an extended adaption period even though they don't play and don't score because their team wins the League.

This is a bit disingenuous making out like it’s just because we lost two games. We have played poorly in every game so far this season, many fans have commented on how the team and individuals have looked poor. We’re in October now and that trend is still prevalent. We got very lucky in a number of games regarding late goals and other things, and now that luck is turning and the form starts to show. It’s no time for panic, but it’s hardly a time to be all la-de-da cheery and happy when we’re playing like utter trash and have been all season. The tactics are odd, the players look dysfunctional, and we have a run of really tough games ahead. I think both the trepidation of the fans, and the criticism of the fans, is completely justified.

Which one of the games we won with late goals this season were we"lucky"to win? was it lucky solely because the goals came late because in the games vs Bournemouth, Newcastle, Arsenal, Everton and Burnley i would have thought over the 90 odd mins we were the better side. Just like Palace weren't lucky to beat us last week just because their winner came late. We hadn't been playing brilliant football but i don't think we were lucky to win ANY of those games we simply kept going right to the final whistle.

A team doesn't score late in 5 games in a row being lucky. It takes a great team to stay in the game until the last minute mentally and to believe that they can win any game of football even if things don't look to be going their way. The pundits were saying after Arsenal's late win at Newcastle how that was a massively significant moment, because winning a game in those moments gives everyone the belief that they can seize 3 points from a game even up to the dying moments of a game. I very much agree with that assessment, and teams playing us know that as long as there is time in the clock there is a chance that we can turn a loss into a draw and a draw into a win. That is the mentality of champions, not luck.
Also this spin that we have been playing poorly all season is nonsensical in my opinion. Yes we have not been at our fluid, instinctive best, that's to be expected with so many new players. We are still trying to find the balance between freedom and position, defence and attack. But I think it would be a lie to say that we haven't played some great stuff in spells in virtually every game. The first half against Everton we were superb for about 90% of 45 minutes, most of the first half against Bournemouth, first half against Atletico, even the first 15-20 minutes against Gala I thought we looked good moving through the lines until we conceded a penalty that was never a penalty.
True, we haven't seen 90 minutes of sustained and focussed brilliance, but it's early in the season with many new players. But this nonsense about us being generally poor every game and somehow nicking late wins without deserving them, I can't agree with. That sounds too much like noise from opposition fans and ragebait pundits who don't watch our games.

Not sure its because we've lost 2 games that fans aren't happy. its the performances n some players have looked very poor individually. we all hope n know we can play much better than we have . we also know that new players take time to settle in . but I agree that the more into the season the better we will play . then the confidence will come back.

just got to work through this period and get the team up to speed.
Of all the issues my main concerns are what is happening with the defensive line. It's a bit worrying for me that we had three fit fullbacks (incl Gomez here) and Slot went for Dom. it that rotation, trust or what? We need stability at the back and I don't think playing Dom at RB, as amazing as he can be, is helping the defensive line build their chemistry.
I'd also be playing Robbo at LB too. nothing against Kerkez at all, but just think he needs to bide his time just like Robbo did.

I do worry though that Slot not sticking to a settled team week in week out. Keeps chopping and changing unnecessarily. He needs to work out who are the subs and who is the best 11 this will help create familiarity.

I would much rather us having our bad spell early on rather than later on, it will take time to get the fluidity right but when it does I expect us to fly. We have a lot of new players learning where each other is or will be for the pass and that cohesion comes with time together in training as well as on the pitch. With the amount of games we have had last few weeks I'm guessing it hasn't left much time for proper training time other than keeping fitness levels up, but no real hard tactical training. It will come good once everyone gels just hope we are still within touching distance when we do. I didn't expect us to be so high at this stage with the amount of changes so it's an added bonus.
