I've been wanting slot gone ever since Forest beat us 3-0. So it is disappointing to see so many reports he's staying next season. Is there a chance he will have learned a lot from this season and be able to get it right next season? Surley he won't try these same tactics next season and realise we need to get back to playing faster, pressing and playing with more intensity! Here's hoping anyway.

01 May 2026 20:12:41
No, he believes all the bs bout us being unlucky and the fact they back him will just play into his narcissistic personality and he will try to prove he was right all along bout his training methods and treatment of the squad he had. If they renew his contract, things will get worse. It's never a narcissist's fault things go wrong.

01 May 2026 20:44:02
I doubt it very much. I do not expect him to change his approach. You can tell from the way he talks that he genuinely believes bad luck and injuries are the main reasons we've been poor.

I can see us improving because Wirtz will have settled, Isak is back, and we will bring in a winger or 2 to improve deliveries. Of course, Slot fanboys will give Arne the credit anyway.

01 May 2026 21:02:25
How dare them LFC fan Slot fanboys give the manager credit if things improve.

01 May 2026 21:14:04
Slot fanboys? Grow up. I've wanted Slot sacked since the PSV game but if he's going to be here next season I'll back him because I want Liverpool to do well. People like you divide the fanbase because you want to be proven right.

01 May 2026 21:39:02
If Liverpool do happen to improve next season, then, of course, Slot would be credited for it. Only an idiot would suggest otherwise.

01 May 2026 21:36:51
Narcissistic personality? Jesus get a grip of yourself man. Another poster who knows Slot personally ?

01 May 2026 22:08:49
Irish, it beggars belief some of the guff posters come out with. It's tiresome.

01 May 2026 22:54:27
What I don't get is fans thinking we are going to splash the cash like last year and buy 3 or 4 players. Ps, I detest Slot from Game week 3 last season.

01 May 2026 23:12:53
So if things only improve because of factors outside of Slot's control and he continues to play terrible football, doesn't change tactics and the players are still unfit, he should get the credit?? ? As I said, fanboys.

01 May 2026 23:21:39
What exactly is a fanboy, Chewy?

01 May 2026 23:37:29
So by that logic, Klopp only won the league and Champions League because Liverpool signed Salah, Van Dijk and Alisson, things outside his control, so he doesn't deserve any credit for those achievements?

01 May 2026 23:40:53
That's it, John, get in there early.

01 May 2026 23:43:18
That's a lot of ifs, Chew. And what would constitute as a factor outside of Slot's control? I'm guessing if things are going good, almost everything, but absolutely nothing if we're struggling, it's all on him. ?

01 May 2026 23:34:29
I'm not defending Slot by any means. Expectations were not met. I think it has been the combination of injuries, Wirtz not settling, loss of form from Salah, VVD, Mecca. The loss of Jota, Konates father. The switch in tactics. I will support the manager whoever it is until they aren't.

When I said show the man some grace, it doesn't mean feel sorry for him. How bout we stop with the name calling and complaining about the manager 24/7.

I love this site, read it daily. Appreciate all the Ed's.

02 May 2026 00:26:15
My point is very clear, that Slot has to evidently improve things to regain respect, he's been saved this year by individual quality in spite of ineffective tactics and below par conditioning. If you disagree with any of that, then you're definitely looking at things through Slot tinted glasses.

02 May 2026 00:30:22
Aenie, don't try and twist things mate, it's a feeble attempt, the situations are not comparable. Klopp's tactics were hugely effective, he was a great man-manager, he had the squad unbelievably fit, we were renowned for our conditioning and our mentality. Slot is the complete opposite of all of that.

02 May 2026 01:24:43
When we beat United we move into 3rd place in the PL. Staggering but true.

After 34 games, you tend to be where you deserve to be.

I'm keen to see a different coach with more emphasis on attack and what we do, rather than fixating on what the opposition might want to do, but, despite most people's incessant misgivings, not everything is wrong with the club and team.

02 May 2026 01:35:36
This is like having a conversation with Martin Keown.

02 May 2026 05:54:17
If Slot is in charge next year, there will be no improvement. There are no extenuating circumstances this year, except that Slot is out of his depth, and although he's watched his tactics fail for 9 months, he won't change.

He's also mismanaged the team so badly, we're run off the pitch every game and are too tired to see out 90 min. On top of that, he's driven out every veteran we have, so there will be no leaders next year, which means he'll have even more of an influence on the team and fail harder than he did this year.

I believe the only thing that has saved us this year is the individual brilliance of our players and the abysmal form of teams around us in the league this year. There's no way the league is as bad next year, and Slot will continue to fail if he stays.

I fail to believe that will happen because it's too ridiculous to believe he deserves more time.

02 May 2026 07:43:25
If Slot is the manager next season, I will back him 100% even tho I would've replaced him. But he will have to change for that backing to continue, we need a more aggressive team with more energy in our play for starters. We need to be able to win a tackle and we need players who are prepared to go and win a tackle and put in the hard yards.

Slot has proved he can be a top manager, u don't almost stroll to a Prem league title without being good, but I think he has taken his eye off the ball, probably won it too easy+ family not moving over are the reasons I think he did.
If the club is going to give him a chance I think fans should do as well, but he has to improve big time.

02 May 2026 08:00:02
You would hope so, our shortcomings are obvious on highlight reels let alone from the sideline every match.
The league is there for the taking next season with the right signings and approach.

02 May 2026 09:05:47
We need 3/4 players that is a reality.

02 May 2026 11:00:14
The man has had the whole season to improve and change, and he has deliberately chosen not to do so. Hence, based on that evidence, what makes people think he will change next season?

Also, if people think the higher ups will demand he change next season, then what was stopping them from doing so earlier in the season when we lost 9 out of 12?

I can keep going, but I'll leave it there.

02 May 2026 11:06:45
If the club are prepared to give him another chance next season, then so am I. Thanks for the responses and different views on it! Maybe he's going to get another chance because he's been saying to the board he will change his approach. Fair enough to him if he thought the reason we struggled at the end of last season was because we tired and needed to take a different approach. But now he must realise that was the wrong thing to do, and he needs to go back to the things that won us the league. Tbf to him, everyone talks about the money he has spent, but we lost a lot of players, some of which were very important, and we didn't really replace them.

One of the best rb and lw in the world left and didn't get replaced. We have been in far worse situations than this in the past. 4th in the league does mean we don't actually have to improve that much next season to be back challenging. Ever who is in charge next season will need our support from the 1st minute, so if it's Slot, let's just get them chants belting out at Anfield again including his name.

02 May 2026 11:09:00
Must be talking to yourself, so Arnie.
