Just shows you how heavily we have relied on Salah producing the goods year in year out, last season he more or less won us the title, and with all the changes this season, who's bright idea was to say.. ya know what I think il play Salah further away from the goal n isolate him, if he was played in the right way he would have got 20+ goals this season.

Another subject what does my box in is Gravenberch, he excelled last year in a sitting position in front of the back 4, now he is playing like he was under Klopp, absolutely useless, play him back werr he was or get rid, n get rid of whoever thought he was worth £280K a week ffs.

He did not win us the title, come on. He had the season of his life, but Slot also gave him the platform to shine and built the team around maximising his efficiency. We also won a lot of games because of tactical shifts and tweaks he made in game, and we all thought we were seeing the makings of an elite tactical mind. Let's not rewrite history just because this season has turned out terribly. There's no guarantee he could have scored 20+ goals this year, there were games where he was still the fulcrum of our attack and we were getting the ball to him early, he just didn't manage to do anything with it.

I agree that the decision to play Grav as a sort of 6/8 without him doing the job of either of those positions well has been nothing short of bizarre. I do really think that losing Trent has been huge for us, I've been saying that all season. Not sure why we thought we could go forward this season without somebody who could progress the ball from deep and get us up the pitch early.

That's the thing, PB... He was praised because of his tweaks last season. It was sensational to be honest.

What is strange, and so difficult to understand, is why he has completely abandoned everything he did last season. Completely changed tactics, persistently played players out of position (and not just because of injuries), throw in the mini holidays, so much time away from training, internal fights amongst everyone, and, it's no wonder everything has gone for a ball of s***.

This happened on his watch, his decisions, so he has to be held accountable.

Yet the stories (whether true or not) all say he is staying to oversee the rebuild that is now coming... If they are true then it ranks as incompetence by the club.

PB, if he never had the season of his life as you say, we would have finished 3rd or 4th n of course it was guaranteed he would score 20+ goals, he has done it for the last 9 years, you say Slot gave him the platform, the platform was already there when Klopp was his manager, but he still had to execute it, which he did with ease every single season.

As for Trent, yea he was very good with the ball but I thought he was a very average defender, always thought he was a liability.

In my opinion, Salah did win us the league last season.
His form was certainly the difference.
I think there's no such thing as a one-man team, but Diego was the closest.

Some stats, with the last one quite hard to believe.

Trent and Salah played together for 8 seasons.

They played 318 matches together across all competitions.

Trent provided 13 assists to Salah in that time.

"Slot gave Salah the platform to shine"? ??? What a moronic statement. You're talking about one of the greatest Premier League players of all time here. A player who was absolutely dominating and arguably the best forward in the league for 8 years before Slot ever showed up. You've said some wild things in your time Patrik but that nonsense right there takes the cake mate.

16 May 2026 16:15:58
So you're saying Slot's system last year had nothing to do with Salah producing those numbers? Mo himself said that the positional change that he enjoyed last year as a right sided number 10 was instrumental in him having such a prolific season. How convenient that, just because of the terrible season we've had, Slot suddenly had nothing to do with us winning the title.

I think you should notice that, however much I disagree with your opinions or your childish barbs, I've never once called them moronic or nonsensical, Chewy. But that's just your style, I guess.

16 May 2026 16:47:48
Pat, did Mo actually say that?

Can't seem to find anything online, and the World Wide Web suggests he's been playing as a right sided 10 for a number of years under Klopp also.
