I don't know why anyone is shocked. Aside from the 5 games after klopp announced he was going we have been quite poor all season really.

Played some absolutely dire football sept to Dec tonight was the same as what we saw back then except Salah isn't there to bail us out.

One of the real horrible issues I can see is there are no real match winners in the team right now. Mac keeps getting moved backwards and he's the only person who I could call a match winner.

I don't even know why we need a DM. We did used to have a midfield of Hendo, milner and gini - none of whom are DMS or hard tackling but their collective press was good enough to not need a dedicated DM.

I also have to say I hope slot can get a tune out of szobpslai because since the international break he looks like he's forgotten what football is.

The bright spot is though that slot does like to play with technical midfiders who can pass their way through and I think szoboslai, Jones, mac and Elliot all fit that profile, even if some are out of form.

Fair to say this is a new low for Klopp.

Losing 2-0, with only 20+ minutes remaining, Klopp looks to his bench, sees Danns and Grav, elects to bring on Gomez and Tsimikas? You can not make it up. What was he thinking?

I thought playing a full strength team in a dead rubber match was bonkers, then, going under powered in the first leg of the same competition was by far his daftest moment. But, this might honestly take the cake. In a Merseyside derby, with our front 3 devoid of quality, we bring on numerous defenders and a DM?

And, don't get me started on the initial team selection. Jones in CM, after the performances he has put in recently. Macca, whose downturn in form, comes specifically when Klopp decides to rotate him with Endo at DM, rather than let him grab games by the horn and take command. Szobo, don't even know what to say about him. Gone from our best signing to worse signing this season, I don't know what is going on.

If Klopp wanted to make it so we would not miss him, he has achieved that aim. I've gone from feeling sad, missing Klopp who is still at the club, to wanting him out as soon as possible. These tactics, structure, trust in players underperforming has always been his Achilles heel and it has come to bite him right at the end.

There is so much for the next manager to do, I honestly don't think Klopp realized the work that needs doing. Salah needs to go, Nunez too. The experiment has failed, £85 million for a guy that misses sitter after sitter. Opposition fans genuinely laugh at him and look forward to seeing his next performance for the comedy reel. He strikes no fear in anyone, and us Liverpool fans are always prepared for his next miss.

The defence and offensive 3 need a complete overhaul, but there is no way FSG will allow for that without sales. For me: Salah, Nunez, Jota (Too injury prone) Jones, Konate (Too injury prone), and Tsimikas need to be sold. I would also consider selling Van Dijk, if he does not agree to a new contract, no more freebies. I was close to adding Diaz and Robbo, but that feels like far too many departures.

The fact that Liverpool decided to televise these last few months, in an Amazon documentary, is just the icing on the cake for what has been a whiplash of a season. From rising so high, to crashing down without any signs of fight or genuine care. Horrendous way to end. But reflective of Klopp this season, too tired and has accepted defeat.

{Ed025's Note - i agree that the choice of subs was awful MANGO, what the hell was he thinking mate?..

Need 3 goals? Send on Gomez and Tsimikas with 0 career Liverpool goals between them. Genius 😂.

{Ed025's Note - i could not believe that MK...unbelievable Jeff..

As soon as I saw Mac at number 6 and Jones in midfield I felt we’d given Everton the upper hand. Jones has been shockingly bad recently and in no way deserves a start. Agree with you on outgoings, but I’m not massively confident that we’ll do the work needed or bring in the quality of players required given we’re still seriously interested in the likes of has beens like Leroy Sane. The squad needs a lot of work and some players need bringing down a peg or two (TAA, who was awful defensively tonight and offered nothing going forward, drifted inside far too often pretending to be a centre midfielder) .

Very knee jerk Mango.

I admit we were poor tonight but all the talk of an overhaul is just ridiculous. We’ve managed to stay in a title race until the end of April with a brand new midfield, loads of injuries, playing kids for 3 months of the season and we’ve even had one of our player have his parents kidnapped for 2 months!

This team is on the up regardless of how this season finishes.

He’s just lowering expectations before Slot comes in.

If the fans think the team is a total dumpster fire (like they played tonight) then fans will give Slot time to establish himself.

We’re playing a lot like we did when Bren was sacked.
Slow and ponderous on the ball, no movement and defensively frail.

He’s just lowering the bar for Slot 😉.

What did we expect after 15 mins, we totally sht ourselves . not a bit of fight . quite embarrassing
. but not expected after the last few sht shows. the front 3 need to go . not a kneejerk reaction. people can gloss it up however they feel. but to me that was rubbish.

Look tonight's match aside we have been riding our luck in games with 7 games to go we were 2 pts clear but I have to be honest I thought it was a huge ask for us to try and win all 7 to win the league. Since then we have lost 2 from 3 and any chance of winning the league is gone. What tonight's performance proved to me is that we have some very average players and some whom once were world class are now well past their best with their time at Anfield maybe coming to an end. I'm not going to name names as there are players right throughout the team who fall into this category. The new season will bring a new manager and he is going to have his work cut out to keep us competing at the top table. We are at a vital time at the club where we have to make serious decisions on the contracts of numerous players. It could be time to cash in on some and maybe realise that others who are more recent additions at the club aren't ever going to cut the mustard so best to move them on too. Either way this season has fizzled out in a whimper which is sad as Klopp deserved a hell of a lot better whoever comes in will have a big rebuild on their hands and most likely a small budget to do so. I think supporters expectations for next year will have to be Lowered slightly as these are extremely important times for us as a club going forward in the next season or 2 we don't want to become the next Spurs or Utd for that matter.

Carraghers a disgrace on sky putting all the light of that performance on nunez . Also calling for him to be sold. Simply disgraceful. How about discussing our dreadful play for the last 2 years.

Carraghers spit on for me. I mean spot on for me. If we had a striker who could score we would have won the league. Salah also needs to take part of the blame.

24 Apr 2024 22:45:24
Nunez in needs to be sold not all his fault but two seasons and still missing sitters.

24 Apr 2024 23:30:12
No Carragher is not a disgrace.

Most of us want Nunez to succeed so badly that we tend to turn a blind eye to the fact that he is just not good and reliable enough. He has all the right attributes to be a top quality striker but he is not.

Maybe he will succeed at a another team but for his sake and the sake of Liverpool, he should be sold this summer.

Salah needs to go as well. Cash in while we can still get a reason sum.

24 Apr 2024 23:33:40
He's got a point as horrible as he is. We have a decent striker tonight we go in one all it's a different game. Nunez had chances but every touch was terrible and the finish was a disgrace l. School boy errors.

25 Apr 2024 00:22:35
Darwin was rubbish tonight but his performance didn’t stand out, they were all rubbish. Becker was our best player.

24 Apr 2024 22:30:05
Anyone else very surprised that needing a goal we bring on arguably the 4 of the most defensive subs?
Gravenberch did ok last game, Danns deserved a chance up top. Game was gone so not sure why we needed new defensive minded left and right backs.

Klopp lost the plot a while ago.

24 Apr 2024 22:42:02
I think he was being stubborn. Not one of his good traits. Almost baby like behaviour.

25 Apr 2024 00:23:11
We needed 10 subs to change that game. It was too far gone by that point.

24 Apr 2024 22:14:43
We have little to play for now. For me salah and Nunez should not start again, they should be lucky to get the bench. Give the young players some valuable experience in premier league games.

There's nothing to lose by dropping the players who have been underperforming for a long time.

It's not recent, from sept to December we were equally bad. The announcement of klopp leaving let to the only time this season we have played well and won convincingly.

It's not just the players maybe something not right within the camp. When Virgil doesn't challenge DCL for the second goal and chooses instead to impersonate Havertz or Odegaard by throwing his arms up. that's nothing Klopp can do anything about. But then it goes back to is all well in the camp? idk.

24 Apr 2024 22:14:34
Fair play to Everton, not a fan of Dyche and the way he sets his teams up, but they had a game plan, showed desire and passion. Liverpool showed none of the 3.

Unfortunately at the moment Mo Salah plays more like Moe Szyslak, Darwin is not evolving, and our defending at times is well. woeful

we've ridden our luck at lot this season and it ran out. The recent times we should have demolished Man Utd and came away with 1 point seem to me where the confidence of the players, manager and fans took the final hit.

24 Apr 2024 22:31:32
Well we've gone behind in 20 of 34 league matches now. only so much of that we can put down to bad luck.
