Liverpool have agreed a £2m deal with Middlesbrough for goalkeeper Brad Jones and have finalised the £5.5m signing of Christian Poulsen from Juventus.

I can only see two or three more signings before the transfer window closes; Christian Poulsen. Aislan (Probable: but in my opinion not suitable for the PL). And a LB, possibly Warnock - who I believe we could get with the inbound funds from Benayoun and Riera, excluding Wilson as these funds were set aside by Rafa.

Personally think that maybe it would be best if the club was not takin over this month
Think it might be better if the october deadline passes and RBS take control of the club and put it back up for sale
possibly just for the amount they are owed
this would allow a new owner with good intentions
(hopefully)
to buy the club and build the stadium for about 600m not 800m as it would probably cost now

11 Aug 2010 23:02:45
According to the Daily Mail, Poulson 5 mil and Brad Jones are done deals, not sure on either to be honest, i reember poulson as a good player but hes gettin on now

'There is nothing at present about Liverpool in respect of transfers other than the speculation from here and elsewhere. The ownership issues seem to drag on with many of the Liverpool fans seemingly unwilling to accept that Huang (a) does not the backing of a Chinese Government investment fund; (b) has not made a bid for Liverpool; (c) has done anything other than express interest in the club's sale; (d) is a self-publicizing charlatan (in other words a snake oil salesman). Folks seem to be seeing Nick Harris as on a quest to trash Huang when all is doing is providing on-going updates. Whether or not you like what Nick has written, you really need to take note of what he writes. The same goes for Rob Harris (no relation) who provided the AP telephone interview article. The Kirdi consortium appear to be in a position to satisfy the owner's criteria for a sale but the fans seem skeptical – for reasons seemingly unclear to them; but they are probably correct to be cautious.

Sharkey.'

Thanks for the info, will take note of what you said. :)

I'm told we're after:
Peter Crouch, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Gareth Barry/Christian Poulsen/Axel Witsel.

I wouldn't mind Crouchie, as a back-up, even alongside Torres against the lesser teams especially if he's only around 7m, in a 4-4-2 formation.

SWP would be a decent addition for coming off the bench - similar to Walcott for Arsenal. We are short on the right, with only Maxi ( IMO Kuyt should never be played on the wing - too slow, not got the best of deliveries ) also SWP and Crouch seem to have a good combination.

Barry is decent, just lacks a bit on the pace side ( would prefer De Jong tbh ) but he's not awful. Poulsen: Not seen too much of him, but doesn't seem too highly rated, but Agger seems to rate him. Axel Witsel. Again not seen too much of him, but I have seen the shocking tackle he made.

3 players are all we need to mount a serious title challenge, definitely Top 4. Mascherano's heart is not in it, so it would be pointless in keeping him.

What do you think of these players, and is it true what he's said?

Id like to see zamora at liverpool

If this is the stevie we can expect all term then we had a great year to look forward to. I can see him scoring twenty this year. And I am glad capello played him more centrally. Once lamp was off the field stevie shined.

Okay fellow LFC fans think on this.
The people whose names we have heard, may or may not have made bids. They may have been successful in business, sports promotion, international wheeling and a dealing. This depends upon who you choose to believe.
They may have billions, they may have buttons.
Truth is we don't know.#
WE don't know because we have heard every mix of these things about the different people, groups, consortiums and state investment cadre from all sections of the media.
One's got dough, oh no he hasnt.
This other one has bid, oh no he hasnt!
Who the f### knows? NOT US
What we do know is these same parties are or have looked to invest in sports in someway and will now forever and ever be known as units that were in the running to buy the greatest football club in the world and will ALL benefit from that alone.
If they are bidders and they win we will find out after the deal. Not before.
The more those names get passed around, supported, discussed the greater they will benefit from free LFC publicity,
So lets just STOP!!!
THEY CAN GET THEIR PUBLICITY WHEN THEY HAVE SHOWN THE DOUGH AND INVESTED IN OUR GREAT CLUB. AND ONLY THEN,
Brothers and sisters let them go. . . do not utter their names or their promises, it is only they that will grow. .

I agree with you on the mascherano front as he is worth a lot more than what teams are wanting him for but cant see us getting more than 30 million for him.

The reason why i don't have lucas in the first team or even in the squad is that i feel lucas has had a chance and to be fair to him he has performed ok but i just feel that obviously gerrard is better and in my opinion aqua was improving and showing promise towards the end of the season so its his chance. . and if it happend which it probaly will that one of poulsen, aqua, gerrard get injured gerrard and cole and possibly aqua are as good if not better at playing in any of the midfield posistions. Even it was a case of bring jovan on the left beside torres and bellamy on right beside torres with gerrard and cole in middle or cole and aqua.
I also feel that pacheco is good enough to cover torres and someday play up beside him as all he needs is some playing time which he will hopefully get.

TO THE BLINDMAN/ LIAR/ LUCAS DAD WHO WROTE THIS:

A plea to all Liverpool fans - Give Lucas a break - I have no idea what games or even team some of you were watching last year, but Lucas was, without a doubt, in our top 3 performers as far as consistency goes, beating both Gerrard and Carragher.

He has his faults, but he always gives his all and, statistically, was only one of 5 premiership players to complete over 100 'clean' tackles, meaning either he or his team gained and maintained possession.

Please do not give me the rubbish about 'most fouls, least bookings' - Its only a booking if the ref see's it that way and he certainly is not a dirty player.

So, please, support the lad and he will become a genuine world class player.

If you want to criticise, lets start booing Gerrard for his blatant dives (which at times are embarrassing) and Torres for spending half the game sulking !

* * * *

Torres only sulks when hes frustrated with players like Lucas who waste possession/ miss sitters/ misplace passes or score own goals to lose us points.

Gerrard dives but for over 10 years has earnt the right to do a di canio push combined with Cantona kick on the ref and still get away with it.

LUCAS IS WEAK! he will never ever be world class and we cant afford to wait for him to be "good"

grow up and get yourself down to anfield and see that he isnt even 40% of the player Alonso was/is.

Stop posting such rubbish on a rumours site and start playing a fantasy football competition in the one of the national newspapers!!

Mascherano is leaving.Players under 21 like Bouzanis,Pacheco,Shelvey,Amoo,Wilson,Ayala and Mavinga don't have to be included in the 25 man squad and I forgot Cole ok?Sorry for not remembering everyone.Agbonlahor/Ruiz/Bellamy means one of them which takes two down as well. Before you say all those senior players don't add to 25, they don't have to.

So stop thinking your great trying to take down rumours when you don't understand the new rumours.

Liverpool postpone meeting to discuss takeover with no serious bids on the table

A Liverpool board meeting scheduled for Thursday to discuss offers for the club has been postponed, providing further evidence of the complications and uncertainty surrounding the club's future.

Telegraph Sport can disclose that the decision to postpone was taken amid continuing doubts about the credibility of potential bidders and after the date had been publicised in the media.

A well-placed source said it would have been "premature" to meet this week, indicating that the club were yet to receive any formal offers backed by proof of funds.

Liverpool postpone meeting to discuss takeover with no serious bids on the table - Telegraph

The delay raises doubts about the club's prospects of changing hands this month, or even before the Oct 6 refinancing deadline set by Royal Bank of Scotland.

Broughton had asked as many as six potential buyers to table detailed offers, including proof of funds, by the end of this week, in the hope that two might be worth serious consideration. That deadline now looks ambitious.

For supporters desperate for clarity amid the claims and counter-claims of the last fortnight the postponement is not a positive sign.

Broughton might still emerge from the fog of speculation clutching a piece of paper securing the future of Liverpool FC in the near future, but this does not make it feel any more imminent.

At least five potential buyers are thought to have expressed an interest. Chinese-American businessman Kenneth Huang and Syrian Yahya Kurdi have both said they are considering an offer for the club, while the Kuwaiti Al-Kharafi family and New York investors the Rhone Group are also thought to have expressed an interest. Indian conglomerate Sahara said this week it would not bid "for the time being", but did not rule it out.

Until any of them table offers with proof of funds Broughton's hopes of securing a deal before the end of the transfer window will be dashed.

The timing is significant. The deadline for formal offers falls on Friday, and marks the end of the two-week window after which Huang indicated he would walk away if his offer was not accepted. It is also a fortnight from the closure of the transfer window, the last opportunity for Roy Hodgson to enhance his squad.

It appears likely now that the window will close without a formal change in Liverpool's ownership leaving the far more significant deadline set by RBS looking like the decisive factor in the fate of the club.

The bank agreed to extend its £237million loan facility in April only after Hicks and Gillett agreed to sell and to appoint Broughton to oversee the process.

RBS is also understood to have imposed more expensive terms on the Americans, with £110million of their debt reportedly converted to payment-in-kind loans accruing interest of up to £2.5m a week.

This gives RBS by far the greatest leverage of any of the players in the Anfield saga, though whether they will choose to use it remains to be seen.

They are reported to have offered to "ease" the financing for any bidder, a move that emphasises the sensitivity of their position.

If October arrives with no acceptable offer RBS could extend its financing to the Americans again, or take a more drastic step and force out Hicks and Gillett and effectively take control of the club.

That would be a hugely controversial step for the publicly-owned bank to take and would require the endorsement of senior management including chief executive Stephen Hester. Removing the Americans might be popular on Merseyside and would certainly simplify the process, but it would not be without implications for the banks reputation.

For potential bidders RBS's situation offers an opportunity. Letting the clock tick down will increase the bank's anxiety, the fees paid by Hicks and Gillett and drive the price down .

Sahara's statement this week suggests that may be their strategy. Yahya Kurdi, understood to be backed by investors from Sharjah and considered a serious bidder by the Americans, who are seeking a profit from their time in charge at Anfield, indicated he would do likewise.
"I want at least two months, two months to see everything. After that if everything is OK it's a deal. If not, 'Thank you very much,'" he told Bloomberg this week.

The Huang bid told Telegraph Sport on Wednesday that it had still not decided whether to make an offer. Marc Ganis, a US associate of Huang's, said via email:

"We haven't yet decided to submit a formal proposal but are interested in looking at an investment there. I suspect that is obvious. We also have not identified the potential investors."

Ganis's statement is a far more sober assessment than the suggestions of a swift Chinese government-led takeover emanating from Huang's camp last week Huang, a sports business investor who cites top-level contacts in China and the US, has made no comment himself since news of his intentions emerged last week, there has been confusion over the source of his funding and the exact make-up of his team.

His background has come under scrutiny too, though not via his company website, which has displayed the message 'Site Under Maintenance' since his involvement Huang received high-profile endorsement on Wednesday when Randy Levine, president of the New York Yankees, telling The New York Times he had arranged marketing tie-ups in China.

Huang would hope to do the same for Liverpool, but first he will have to convince Broughton that he has the investment backing to buy the club.

Huang would hope to do the same for Liverpool, but first, like everyone else circling the club, he will have to convince Broughton he has the finances to buy the club.

Si The_SItuation in your squad for the new season you dont have lucas on your team and not evan on the bench! why? he is improving game by game, and you say we need to give aqualani a chance, what about lucas? he had a very hard 1st season and after that he is brilliant. lucas is the one we need to give a chance not aqualani.

mascherano can finaly leave for hopefully a player plush cash for him in my opinion. we should sell him to barcelona for 27mil and maxwel or hleb, or to inter milan for 20mil and cambiasso.

Bellamy rumours now? It seems that every out of favour player in the world is being linked with Liverpool.
Does nobody remember what he was like when he was at Liverpool before? Not very good on the pitch and disruptive off it (the nutter with a putter incident).

The impression I'm getting as far as the takeover is concerned is that H+G are clearly trying to manipulate the situation so that a bidding war takes place. That to me is why the Indian guys cooled their interest and who can blame them. Interestingly the Sahara Group spokesman mentioned that they were not in the running for the time being suggesting that if the clowns in charge lowered there asking price to a more realistic level there may be a deal to be done. I fear the Huang interest will go the same way. I've just spent a week in the middle east and nothing on the wires out there about DIC or Kuwait.

I don't have a degree in business but I am wondering why people keep saying that the owners will pocket money from sales, would this money not go into the clubs accounts, reducing the debt and then reducing the overall price of the club, maybee I'm wrong here but I'm pretty sure its not a case of the money going from a sale straight into the owners bank accounts.

I'm not saying that this is my prefered option i'm just observing. .

West Ham have signed:

Miralem Sulejmani - loan.
Frederic Piquionne - 1m.

Also they have bid for Yakubu. They also already have Benni McCarthy and Carlton Cole.

Now surely one of these are on the way out!. . considering the first three are either new or part of a new bid, that leaves McCarthy and Cole

Didn't Roy say he wanted English talent? and haven't we been linked with Cole for a while now? (media speculation or not). . .

I honestly think this will happen,. . if not he is moving on, that's for sure!

According to Danish media, Christian Poulsen has passed a medical at Liverpool and will be announced as a Liverpool player today. Not sure if the Danish media is correct here but if it is true then it's great news in my opinion. However this could pave the way Mascherano to go to either Barcelona, Juventus or Inter Milan.

11 Aug 2010 16:58:30
Poulsen is set for liverpool subject to medical for a fee of £5mil
Mascherano is on the verge of moving to barcelona for around £25mil-30mil. .Hodgson will use that money to bring in Remy and Balloti(not Balloteli)
Rumours that Aquilani is set for seri a return. I think not, hodgson admires the lad and think he has a future at lfc.

Just a question to the point made earlier about standard chartered not being happy and may buy the debt off RBS why dont they just buy the club full stop then the destiny of their sponsorship success is in their own hands?

Then approach Kenny Huang about introducing us into the chinese market for a fee?

I may be chatting s* t here but could this work?

Liverpool rumours!
.Mascherano will leave for around 25 million to barcelona (way to cheap)
.Mascherano will leave for around 12 million+hleb to barcelona (way to cheap)
.one or the other will happen but not before arsenal game as that game is there main priority at this moment and time
.Poulsen will be brought in and has had a medical already this will be confirmed before the start of next week.
.Liverpool will attempt to sign craig bellamy from manchester city. I feel that this would be a great signing for the team and ecspecially torres.
.Liverpool will also attempt to sign swp which i dont see the point in it personally as he is not good enough and we have better players in his posistions.

I reckon if we are successful with these signings the team should look like something like this after transfer window is shut.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . .Reina. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
. johnson. . carragher. . .daniel agger. . aurelio. .

Bring back Bellamy !!

Bellamy has little chance of making the cut for the 25 man Man City squad and, as such, should be both more than willing to move and cheap !! (even with their money, why would any business want to pay someone good wages 'not' to play).

In my opinion, we should have never let him go - Yes, he has a few 'anger management' issues, but he is one of the few players to pull on the Red for Liverpool in recent years, who has played with real passion, agression, pace and a will to win.

He can cover left/right wing/midfield plus do a job up front and would be the perfect foil for Torres - Imagine the room he would create for Torres with his darting runs.

Hi all-regarding poulsen i think everyone is being a bit tough on him.whenever managers come in to a new club they aways bring players from there old clubs(rh might bring hangerland etc0and they also sign a couple of unknown or unliked player(poulsen).if we cannot trust roy to buy this player then we r never going to trust he are we.we r either with him or were not!also type into google poulsen videos and its comes up witha few of him being a fouler and some of him that is quality.he may be very aggresive and all that but whats the point of having a holding midfielder that is scared to tackle.Lets give a chance as he also looks like he has nice control and quality diagnal balls,he might be perfect in beside gerrard holding,as when gerrard goes forward he can break up counter attacks with his tough takiling and he willbe able to distribruite the ball quickly and accuratley.lets go with roy on this one and not turn on him (not liking his signing)and give his grudge player time to shine,u never know he could be a stunning replacement of alonso and better than m£££££££ano .

also news regarding kenwyn jones,he is probably out of the running now as he is speaking to stoke about a transfer.
does anybody know if poulsen ha passed his medical as he suposidly arrived in liverpool this morning(fee around 4.75 mill so not to expensive)

Love the site and all the Liverpool rumours, however far-fetched most of them are! I have no sources so can only make a few observations:

- As a few others have mentioned, there is no way that anyone other than the board can know who is likely to take over the club. If anything, the winning bid will come from a group that has not yet been mentioned. In any event, I hope the winner manages Liverpool on a commercial basis spending within its means and maximising revenue (this will favour a Far East or Indian-based takeover). Glory-sekers are almost invariably bad news and that's why I am suspiciou of the Kirdhi bid.

- The current squad is not quite good enough to win the title and there is no way the gaps can be filled during this transfer period or the next. More permanent solutions will be found next summer.

- Having watched a number of Fulham home games over the last two seasons (I am a lifelong LFC fan living in West London), be prepared to watch a team playing football. One-touch, quick, disciplined and relentless. It was a joy to watch Fulham play compared to the incredibly negative displays by Liverpool over many seasons (even under Houllier). This will be the year when RH instils his brand of football at Anfield and brings in the missing pieces next.

- Roy will bring in bargain older players who he knows will do a good job for us and who he knows he can get the best from.

- Start learning to sing "Woy, Woy, Woy". We'll be hearing it a lot this year :))

LFC are looking at a striker named Nomis Llannirg, he scored 50 goals in his 1st 17 games and 100 goals in 48 games( scoring 6 in 1 match ) can play up front on his own or as a pair, very direct with pace to burn. although an unlikely signing, i thought i would share it anyway.

I hope torres is fit to play against the gunners at the weekend as the chance we sign a striker look like nil as we have no money, and b4 any1 say we had the standerd charter 20mil / 15mil or whats so ever plus sales thats atleast 30-35mil available so why has'nt roy bought any1 as the slimy tweedledee's have pockected the money and left us with nowt unless masch goes why else would a man like roy who is organised not buy a striker with days to go to kick of,because i hope we don't regret playing ngog upfront because torres is still injured.

Mascherano is set to leave Liverpool for Barcelona on a £25m deal. With this money Roy will sign Shaun Wright-Philips, although Man City are holding tight and wont budge from £8m. The only way to get him cheaper is Huang signing the club as (rightly so) SWP believes that Yahya Kirdi will simply drive liverpool even lower than before.

This on going takeover saga, seems to me to be nothing but a smokescreen for the H&G partnership.
A few very well placed words by a couple of potential purchases with no financial backing and this creates excitement within the supporters and diversion from the current owners plans.
Unfortunately i feel they have introduced RH to take some of the heat away from them and done this without to much actual cost to the club. The compensation to Rafa if any after his new employed has been covered by the one or two small disposals and RH has not spent anything as yet in the transfer market. Could this be all we will see happen until the Masch transfer goes through and then will it be to late and the funds be delivered into the welcoming hands of the owners, using the excuse of the closing of the transfer window as to why no replacements have been signed.
I hope that my reading of the situation is incorrect but having been involved in finance for nearly twenty years, perhaps not on this scale, everything that is happening in the current press is not something a good business person would be openly encouraging.
Only my thoughts and I pray they are wrong

My sources tell me that Standard Chartered are not well pleased at the current publicity surrounding the position of the sale of the club. This sort of cheap glory hunting is not their style & as the have an association with the club as sponsor they are prepared to take action if indeed the club doesn't get a satisfactory owner in the coming weeks. My source tells me that they maybe prepared to buy the RBS debt themselves, steady the ship for a period before selling on to a reputable owner in time.

"Liverpool are looking to sign a striker they should try and snap up either Bryan Ruiz or the young Turkish talent Mezlut from psg he scored 16 goals for them last season in 32 games"

Hardly a brilliant return in a substandard league. Kuyt scored bagsd of goals in Holland and anyone who has played or understands football can see he is crap.

Ditto Kezman, Kalou and one or two others.

- - - - - - -

So despite being so crap, Kuyt was still first pick in the Holland World Cup squad and remind me of where they ended up in that tournament.

And a mate of mine is a Chelsea supporter and he reckons Kalou was one of their best players last season (certainly the most improved) and remind me what they won last year.

Kezman, I agree with - but what planet was he on?

You are right about me spelling my name backwards,(but that was so obvious, look at NOMIS and you can tell it is SIMON backwards, anyone with half a brain could tell you that) but my stats are true even though i play nowhere near the highest level and i just did the same as other people have been doing by putting a brazilian spin on it or just saying they play for real madrid, also i did say at the bottom it was an unlkely signing. if i wanted my name up so badly, then why didn't i write it the proper way or just finish a letter with my name? i just thought it would be funny, that's all, obviously you didn't like it and now i have my name up there written by you.

After the FT raised questions about the office address and other assertions made by Mr Huang, QSL's website was taken down and replaced with a sign saying "Site under maintenance".

I had seen the QSL website before "maintenance", I have to say, it looked a bit mickey mouse, it didn't look like the website of a wealthy tycoon more like a webiste for local sports and leisure club

* *ADDITIONAL INFO * *

Just to back up the statements said above, I too checked out the QSL's website, very basic layout and could not seem to find any contact information. Could be a dummy corporation or a very poorly put together website because let's face it, without access to contact information, whats the point of the website?

It could be possible that H&G are trying to smear the Huang bid to try and gain further profits but if it is than it might just be working on this LFC Supporter as my confidence in the Huang bid has been diminished.

H&G may be devious bastards but they can't shut down a company's website. Having a website down for a week is unprofessional, crassly stupidity, and just plain bonkers when you are trying to create a positive image when trying to buy the best football club in the world. What message of confidence does that send out?

. . and the website only went "under maintenance" after the FT journalist started asking some searching questions. Very suspicious.

"11 Aug 2010 13:34:39
Roy hodgson has been found dead in his house breakin new on sky he had a heart attack whilst getting bummed by paul konchesky raw baldie head"

Right, so all you've achieved with this utterly ridiculous post is prove to everyone that you're an utter moron and that you have literally no grasp of grammar, punctuation or spelling whatsoever.

I'd suggest putting some work in over the school holidays and not worrying about football.

I can see that you've tried to put a joke on the forum - little tip for you (for future reference); jokes are supposed to be funny. You're obviously pathetic and should be banned from the internet in general. Still, you'll probably end up working at a fast-food restaurant where you won't bother normal people. That's if you ever work at all - and that's a big 'if'.

On topic:

It's looking unlikely that we'll have new owners in before the end of the transfer window. I do think that Kirdis' bid is looking more and more suspect, however - so, I'm hoping that his stalling will be noted by the likes of Broughton and Purslow. I don't believe the stories of any anomalies reported in LFCs books and I think he's just being used to ramp the price up.

I guess what will be, will be - but, I do think that Roy has a decent squad already in place. I'm really looking forward to seeing the likes of Pacheco and Amoo playing with the first team, but I do still think we need a striker with a little experience brought in as cover. I'm purely worried about a lack of goals if 'Nando spends a lot of the season injured - Jovanovic and Kuyt can certainly fill the void to a degree, but if there is the chance of drafting someone like Huntelaar in on loan, we should take it.

Parma Violet.

11 Aug 2010 15:11:52
The 2 most talked about bids.

1. The bid fronted by Kenneth Huang

Huang's company is QSL Sports - www.qslsports.com is the web site. After my posting re the FT article last week, the web site is still "under maintenance". A web site is so important to a company's image today and having no effective web presence for a week would be unthinkable to any half decent company. I am beginning to think the Chinese bid is dead in the water. He doesn't have much credibility.

2. The bid fronted by Yahya Kirdi (the Syrian)

On the Syrian front, there is confusion. On one hand, the Guardian has reported that, Kirdi's bid is being backed by members the ruling al Qasimi family of Sharjah.

Although this looks good as Sharjah is the third largest emirate in the United Arab Emirates and sister city to Dubai, a little research shows Abu Dhabi and Dubai control 83.2 percent of the UAE's GDP, so whether the al Qasimi family have the resources to buy LFC and make the needed investments is questionable.

Also, Kirdi told Bloomberg,"I want at least two months, two months to see everything. After that, if everything is OK, it's a deal. If not, 'thank you very much'."

I wouldn't bet my mortgage on either of these two ending up owning the club. If they do, there is no certainty we'll be in any better position in two years time than we are now with the American jokers.

Liverpool fc have a good team we do not need as much strengthening as people are talking about. I believe that as the squad stands, the only area that needs strengthening is up-front for when torres is injured.
We only need a left back if insua leaves.
We only need a centre mid if mascherano leaves.
On the wings we have already got kuyt, babel, jovanovic, maxi and cole if needs be and then young players like pacheco and amoo.

I would happily go into the new season with a squad looking like this:

GK: Reina, Jones, Gulasci
RB: Johnson, Kelly, Carra
LB: Aurelio, Insua, Wilson, Agger
CB: Carra, Agger, Skrtel, Kyrgiakos, Ayala, Wilson
CM: Gerrard, Lucas, Aqualani, Spearing, Shelvey, Mascherano (Poulsen if masch goes)
RM: Kuyt, Maxi, Amoo
LM: Jovanovic, Babel, Cole
CF: Cole, Pacheco, Babel, Jovanovic
ST: Torres, Ngog , Kuyt, (new striker)

And there you go, Roy has got a team to play which has many options in many positions, a team which has a first 11 as good as anybodys in the league:

Reina
Johnson, Carra, Agger, Aurelio
Poulsen, Gerrard
Jovanovic, Cole, Kuyt
Torres

Mascherano is set to leave Liverpool for Barcelona on a £25m deal. With this money Roy will sign Shaun Wright-Philips, although Man City are holding tight and wont budge from £8m. The only way to get him cheaper is Huang signing the club as (rightly so) SWP believes that Yahya Kirdi will simply drive liverpool even lower than before.

Not a rumour more of an observation. I, like the rest of you are an avid fan and it makes me smile just to hear the sense of optimism coming from you (well most of you). Please be realistic as well as optimistic though. Unless the takeover is signed and sealed in less than a month Roy only has the money at his disposal that he can generate (plus £15m allegedly!!) no one truely knows the figure but Yossis £5.5m went on comp to Rafa and Fulham. Insua has not left. Nor has M£sh. Deggen gone on loan so all he has is £3.3m from Riera sale! Until he sells M£sh to Inter or Barca or whoever M£sh decides he wants to play for that week, most of the names being bandied about on this site are out of our price range. The ones that aren't we have to ask, are they really worth having and will they improve a team that don't forget pushed the Sc*m all the way to the title only the year earlier? The only exception in my view is Bellamy, 100% effort 110% annoying for the opposition!! and Citeh won't sell him to us. Blood the youngsters in the Carling cup and "easier" premiership games if first teamers need resting. Lets see our strongest 11 against the rest and not many teams inc Citeh or their poorer neighbours will look forward to coming to Anfield. Lets be the 12th man again, get behind the team and listen to the deathly hush from all the mockers and doubters who already have us down for mid table!

Hello Ladies & Gentlemen.

This is my current opinion on both Roy and our transfer activity.

Having seen the early days training and match play mentality of our current squad, I am delighted and convinced that we will impress some people this season. I must admit that i was devastated when i heard that of all candidates, Roy was handed the job. But having seen the training sessions and our match against Rabotnicki, Roy has implemented one-touch football to our style. We have stopped our long ball route one football or idealess passing from Rafa. We start to pass from GK all the way to the front. This is a positive european technical style.

The most amazing fact of Roy is he has the guts and trust by giving our youngsters who have been lied and stranded on the reserves by Rafa the chance to prove themselves. Rafa has always bought and commended how good our youngsters are but he never got the guts to give them a chance. I am pleased and shocked to see Pacheco handed a 90mins. If Roy continues to pick him, he will no doubt be a star that Barca will want back in 2 or 3 years time.

Judging from our current squad, there is no need for big splash of cash on most positions other than a decent DMC to takeover from Mash and another striker to support Torres. I am definitely not convinced by Lucas nor Ngog. Last season our downfall was mainly caused by the trio (Rafa, Lucas, Ngog)

Poulsen is rumoured to come in, or we may say done deal, but how could a 30yearold adapt to the BPL at this age? Just a back up i would say. Warm the bench. I would suggest we save this 6million and give Spearing a chance to make it. It has been a while since i see a Liverpool manager capable of unearthing our young talents. ROY WILL BE THE MAN.

Is this some kid playing for his Scouts football team because i dont believe a professional footballer could get that kind of goal tally

11 Aug 2010 14:31:27
Listen fellow fans, as annoying as all these stories, rumours and fabrications are, remember what Martin Broughton said. . "we will not be playing out the takeover through the media". Sure this Kirdi thing is a ploy by H&G to try and up the stakes, Broughton(I hope) is not stupid!! He has his reputation at stake also, and being the professional he is, will want AND need this to be a successful transaction for all concerned. This guy has been a success in all he has done.
1) Who really knows how many actual bids meet the required criteria? Because the press are saying Kirdi this, Huang that?
2) Who is to say that there isn't a bidder there, (who unlike the ones that have reportedly gone public, trying to gain favour by playing games through the media) who is sitting there, biding his/her/their time.Broughton isnt going to come out and say exactly who they are at this stage. .
3)This could be just wishful thinking but, why would Reina sign a new 6 yr deal? why did Joe Cole Sign? Why did Gerrard and Torres stay? Joe Cole stated in an interview that he's impressed with the plans and signings that they are looking at bringing in.

Who's to say that this takeover is not nearer than is actually being "reported"?

Have LFC informed the Premier League of an iminent takeover? then surely they would have to disclose who?

I am not professing to be saying I am right, but maybe this whole new ethos, that finally Liverpool FC is showing signs of tradition.Keeping things quiet until they happen and only give press conferences on fact not fiction.Just how the club used to conduct itself.

LETS JUST WAIT AND SEE! and hope things improve because under H&G us fans have been walking on through the wind and the rain, but lets walk on with hope in our hearts that our GREAT club comes out of this, stronger and united and is able to carry on its success on the field. Lets get behind Roy Hodgson who I think has been excellent so far.

Any truth in the Bellamy rumour?

He has to leave City if he wants to play and would probably get a lot more game-time at LFC than he would at Spurs.

Get Bellamy, Poulsen, Hleb (part exchange in Mascherano deal) and a left back and I think we're set for a decent season irrespective of ownership. .

11 Aug 2010 14:19:59
"Does anyone else think were being linked with players who are 30 plus are coming 30 soon because at the end of this season we will have carragher gerrard kuyt maxi kyriakos aurelio jovanovic and joe cole at the start of next season"

I think you are complaining that we are signing players who are late on in their career, but it's difficult to tell because your grammar is so bad.

It's no bad thing to buy these experienced players at reduced fees (though admittedly higher wages) as we have a talented group of 16-20 year olds ready to come in. In four years time the 30 year olds we have now will be 34 and ready to retire, or drop down to smaller clubs, and the group of youngsters will be 20-24 - ready to become more involved members of the team. Obviously this will be a steady transition and a decent policy in my view, especially while we remain short of money.

MASCHERANO UPDATE.

Juventus link is a load of rubbish!

Inter is not off- simply Moratti playing the waiting game. . he had a pre agreement with Rafa that he would work hard to bring Kuyt/Masch if not both to Serie A. .

He and Rafa both feel they can get him for closer to 20mill though - hence the wait game.

Barca will not buy him as they see Busquets as decent enough cover for now and unless they sell Ibra, they will not be interested.

So . . could we end up with Masch being an LFC player but not named in the startin XI and an unused sub vs Arsenal. . Your Damn Right!

He will leave before end of August- shame but eh? lets hold them to the 35m we value him at!

11 Aug 2010 14:08:26
With it we should buy bryan ruiz for 12m ( i highly rate him and he scored 24 goals last season), poulson for 6m (nearly done), slacido form psv for 3m (much better than half the other LB's were linked with), turan would be a good buy for 15m (seen him for galatasary = quality), wright phillips for 7m (i no many wont agree but he would add some much needed pace to the right wing) this would add up to 47m

Another genius who thinks a player who can't make a poor England squad (SWP) should be in the team ahead of Maxi, who makes the Argentine starting line-up. I rest my case.

11 Aug 2010 14:04:28
I wish take over takes place and we can buy high rated players like benega, A.young, remy, milner, M.richards etc and be the most feared team in the world.

Mate, with mediocre players like these we wouldn't even be the most feared team in England!

Barca lead race to sign masch as they will offer us Hleb as part of and exchange deal.

Ciise has recently said he wants to go bk to england and lfc is his club.

with thomas moore handing in a transfer request expect pacheo to go on a season long loan to tranmere.

Call Me Dreamz

The complete lack of common sense is what strikes me most about so many posters in here. Pacheco may be young and not completely ready for a top 4 challenging side like Liverpool, but if he would go out on loan (which is completely unlikely now), he would only go to a Prem level team.

Al Qasimi Family, based at Ras al Khaymah, emerged as a major maritime power during the eighteenth century; the Al Qasimi control of trade in the Persian Gulf area led to conflict with Oman and eventually with Britain, which was consolidating its colonial empire in India. Following several naval battles, the British finally defeated the Al Qasimi in 1819, burning their ships and the town of Ras al Khaymah. Because of this history, the Al Qasimi inherited a historical hostility toward the British.

The Al Qasimi family of Sharjah is the larger of the two ruling houses. Shaykh Sultan ibn Muhammad Al Qasimi of Sharjah became ruler in 1972, following the assassination of his brother. Shaykh Sultan ibn Muhammad has a reputation for being relatively progressive and for being an enthusiastic supporter of strengthening the powers of the federal government. He also has a reputation for initiating extravagant construction projects for the emirate. Since assuming power, Shaykh Sultan ibn Muhammad had amassed a debt estimated in 1987 at US$920 million, creating discontent among some members of the royal family and precipitating a coup attempt in June 1987. While Shaykh Sultan ibn Muhammad was out of the emirate, his elder brother, Shaykh Abd al Aziz Al Qasimi, issued a statement through Sharjah's news agency that Shaykh Sultan ibn Muhammad had abdicated because he had mismanaged the emirate's economy. Despite initial Abu Dhabi support for the pretender, the coup failed when Dubai called a meeting of the SCU. Through mediation it was decided to return Shaykh Sultan ibn Muhammad to power, but to give Shaykh Abd al Aziz a seat on the SCU and the title of crown prince. Somewhat chastened, Shaykh Sultan ibn Muhammad initiated administrative and financial reforms, but he had the last word when, in February 1990, he removed his brother from the post of crown prince, revoked his brother's right to succeed him, and exiled him.

* *ADDITIONAL INFO * *

I have heard that Roy Hodgson is keeping tabs on whats happening at Man City and looking at bringing in two of their players who may be on their way out. .

I understand it to be SWP, obviously, and the second none other than Craig Bellamy, who would apparently jump at the chance to play for Liverpool again.

Rh isnt looking at Bridge as he is happy with Aurelio and Martin Kelly should Insua be sold, also Danny Wilson can play LB so he isnt worries about that position.

Although SWP is a bit limited as a winger, Craig Bellamy is a quality player and was bombed out of Anfield far too soon.

When it comes to transfers does it not make sense to add 10 million + mascherano to cover a position we desperately need cover in ie up front. Ibrahomivich and torres would be one of the most deadliest partnerships in the world and ibrahomivich would be perfect for the premier league.

Liverpool are looking to sign a striker they should try and snap up either Bryan Ruiz or the young Turkish talent Mezlut from psg he scored 16 goals for them last season in 32 games and what is better he is only 23 and would be a good partner/backup for torres. It would be even better if we could sign both of them. So overall this transfer window i believe that liverpool will sign Poulsen 6 million DM Ruiz 12 million ST OR Mezlut 11 million ST and Turan as he aswell as Mezlut is Turkish so therefore they should work well together we should sign Turan for around 12 million LM and then in my opinion the team will be complete as we will then have more experienced youth in our team as the 4 players that i have listed apart from Poulsen are in there early to mid 20s and therefore have a long and bright future ahead.

Aguero anyone?

Potential Liverpool owner Kenny Huang was successfully sued for nearly $800,000 (€606,000) in damages by a former business partner after their relationship went sour.

The adverse court finding emerged as Huang was preparing to present Liverpool chairman Martin Broughton with an offer for the club and proof of funds ahead of a board meeting on Thursday that may decide the fate of the club.

Huang's bid has been clouded in uncertainty since it was made public amid claims that it would be backed by investment from the China Investment Corporation, the Chinese state's sovereign wealth arm.

On Tuesday Huang's associate on the bid, Marc Ganis, added to the confusion, telling sportingintelligence.com that they had not yet decided whether to make an offer for the club and that no investors, including CIC, had yet been identified.

Huang is one of four potential bidders for Liverpool. Also understood to be considering offers are Syrian businessman Yahya Kurdi, who said on Tuesday he would not offer "one pound more" than the club are worth, New York investment house the Rhone Group, and the Kuwaiti Al-Kharifi family.

The Liverpool board are scheduled to meet to discuss any offers they receive on Wednesday having asked for proof of funds and detailed offers by then.

None of the potential bidders has yet provided proof of funds, though they are all understood to have been subject to background checks by parties involved in the sales process.

The adverse judgment against Huang was handed down in January 1999 by a circuit judge in Seminole County, Florida, and relates to a dispute with a former business associate, Yudong Zhang, and a company, T&K Guang Xin Enterprises.

According to the judgment, a copy of which has been seen by Telegraph Sport, Huang, then a resident of Las Vegas, was ordered to pay damages of $750,000 (€568,000) and interest of $788,300 (€597,000).

On Tuesday night a spokesman for Huang confirmed that the court had found against him in the case but declined to discuss what the source of the dispute was or the nature of the business venture.

Neither could he confirm whether Huang was appealing against the judgment, but he said Huang disputed that the money was owed to his former associates.

Huang has also recently won a legal dispute arising from his involvement in an attempt by a Chinese-owned car company to establish itself in the United States.

Huang was faced with suits for tortious interference with a business relationship, fraud, defamation and a breach of fiduciary duty brought by AutoChina Ltd, but won them all and was awarded $300,000 (€227,000) in damages earlier this year.

According to transcripts of the hearings, held in Miami in March, one of those behind the allegations was David Herzig, who is listed as a co-director in one of Huang's firms, Aspen Infrastructure.

US Court records list Huang as being involved in several other court proceedings in the last six years. Huang's spokesman said on Tuesday evening that he had not been found against in any of them, and that there were no outstanding legal proceedings against him.

"Mr Huang's focus is now on preparing QSL's bid [for Liverpool] and he has briefed all of his advisers that he will be making no further comment at this point in time," the spokesman said.

Earlier Ganis indicated that a bid was not certain. In an exchange with sportingintelligence.com, he said: "Among the most important points I have tried to get out is that no proposal [in relation to a Liverpool bid] has been made and no decision to offer a proposal has been made.

"There were many reports about CIC, yet at no time to [any] party, whether [to] the media, Sir Martin [Broughton] or Barcap, have we ever identified that CIC was an investor."

Meanwhile Kirdi, whose apparently modest business background in Canada and apparent willingness to pay a premium for the club has raised doubts about his credentials, told Bloomberg that he would not over-pay for the club. "I can't pay one pound more than value of Liverpool, I'm not crazy," he said. Kirdi said he was backed by "big names" from the Middle East and Canada but declined to name them.

@ 11 Aug 2010 02:33:01 "Cole is here to play behind the striker, not out wide."

After watching the europoean game the other day and the way they lined up, I think he is actually going to play a free role as one of an attacking 3 behind a striker. I noticed during the match Cole frequently moved to one or other of the flanks as well as a central role with the other two re-arranging around where he was.

Was quite a good tactic actually as it continually confused the defenders.

H&G are twodirty little thugs who have asked the syrian to make this bid for several reasons. firstly they want to get a higher price than 600m ,there saying he made this offer, now he he needs 8 weeks to consider , this is so obvious that its a staged bid with hidden agenda,s . These two little scummy thugs have been bad news from day one, they lied about their financial ability and paid moores an extra 8 million for himself to sell them the club !they lied about everything ,they just wanted control so the y could cash in on one of footballs biggest brandnames Liverpool fc .Think about this and think about it good ! why would anybody come in and offer H&G 600M for a club that they could takeover, if they just matched Kenny Huangs offer to pay the debt ,build a stadium and provide some cash for transfers! isnt Mr broughton supposed to be selling not to the highest bidder but to the best bidder ,the bidder who can proove financil soundness and follow through with their plans immediately. so why would the syrain not just make the same offer as Haung . it doesnt make sense so therefore its bulls* t and designed to attract higher bids. hopefully RBS just demand there money ,and force H&G OUT ! HOPEFULLY LIVERPOOL FANS WILL BOYCOTT ANFILED UNTIL THESE TO GANGSTER HAVE BEEN RAN OUT !!

Does anyone else think were being linked with players who are 30 plus are coming 30 soon because at the end of this season we will have carragher gerrard kuyt maxi kyriakos aurelio jovanovic and joe cole at the start of next season

Hasnt done Chelsea any harm has it!!

I hope this is added to the site as this may open the eyes of fellow Liverpool fans. When it comes to transfers does it not make sense to add 10 million + mascherano to cover a position we desperately need cover in ie up front. Ibrahomivich and torres would be one of the most deadliest partnerships in the world and ibrahomivich would be perfect for the premier league.
4-3-1-2 formation

Reina

Jhonson Carragher Agger Aurelio/Kelly

Lucas/Gerrard

Kuyt Cole/Jovanovic

Gerrard/Cole
Ibrahomovic Torres

BENCH:Babel,Pacheco,Skrtel,Jovanovic,Maxi,kelly

This formation and team would most definitely win the premier league, all we need is another player in the same calibre as gerrard/cole/torres.

I hope LFC don't sign SWP, he is over-rated, one dimensional and has no end product, better off signing dwain chambers, surely he would be able to run the ball down the line and out of play just aswell as SWP or hit the first defender when trying to cross, but he is alot faster and isn't built like elf.

Liverpool are looking to buy a new striker then y not get Kenwyne Jones, he's a decent player and has scored 26 goals in 94 Premier League appearances for Sunderland and would only cost £7-9mill, im certain he would score more goals at Liverpool as we create more chances and he would rather move to Liverpool than Stoke.
Or what about trying to sign Bryan Ruiz as he is a good young talent.

Two things about to happen at LFC on ownership issue,
1.Greedy owners will play hard ball for best result for their back pocket, worry about old friends act.
2.Real buyer will be unveiled when all done and dusted, best for the club and fans as they have not been in the press blowing their trumpet.
Hopefully the sale will be done the 'Old Liverpool Way' i.e. classy and in-house then build up to dominate once again with the boss given meaningful funds and support.
Let's get it sorted for the club not the Yanks.

Hodgson has been advised that it is very doubtful the takeover will happen in time to have funds made available in this transfer window, therefore has been told to go and pursue his current targets, therefore expect offers for the following - Please note, only one player in each of the positions mentioned will be signed:
LB - Bridge (£4m) NOT GOOD ENOUGH - Figuerao (£8m) GOOD PLAYER BUT WE HAVE AURELIO, AND KELLY IS SUFFICIENT ENOUGH AS COVER.

DM - Poulsen (£4m) - Benega (£9m)
WOULDNT BUY A DM JUST PLAY A SOLID
4-4-2 MIDFIELD WITH THE LIKES OF J.COLE, GERRARD, LUCAS, AQUILANI, SHELVEY FITTING IN THE CENTRE - THE ONLY ADDITION FOR ME WOULD BE DEFOUR IF ANY!

RW - Wright Phillips (£7m) - Bentley (£8m)
LW - Turan (£12m) - N'Zogbia (£9m)
OUR WINGERS ARE THE SAME LEVEL IF NOT BETTER THAN THE ONES MENTIONED APART FROM TURAN BUT HE IS CUP-TIED NOW. JOVANOVIC, DANI PACHECO, KUYT, AMOO, J.COLE, BABEL, MAXI.

ST - Hulk (£15m) - Ruiz (£12m)
THIS POSITION IS THE ONE WE NEED, I WOULD PUT ALL FUNDS INTO THIS AREA AND BUY EDIN DZEKO! ONE OTHER THING THE HULK HAS A WORLD BAN AT THE MINUTE.

He will also look for a few expereinced players to bring in on loan - Considering: Bullard (Hull) - Bellamy (Man City) Woodgate (Spurs)

Not sure why he would look to Woodgate - only plays about 3 games a season, but have this from a fairly reliable source.

Also, I understand Hodgson is extremely impressed with both Kelly, Amoo, Pacheco and Wilson, so expect them to play a fairly significant part in his plans

PS - All this talk about Hodgson getting the push when the takover happens is complete rubbish - All bidding parties have committed to giving Hodgson at least 1 season to see what he can do, and a top 5 finish would be enough to secure his job.

BY THE WAY AM NOT DISMISSING YOUR RUMOUR.

I have just returned from holiday and thought you'd be interested in (worried about) an FT article I read from 6th which I have not seen mentioned elsewhere. Let's hope the board read the FT!

Chinese businessman Kenny Huang Jianhua has been seen as the front-runner to buy the Liverpool Football Club, reportedly with backing from China's $332bn sovereign wealth fund.

But far from being a billionaire tycoon with keys to the Chinese Treasury, Mr Huang's only formal roles are as an investor in a fledgling minor league Chinese basketball team, a Chinese basketball magazine and two sports marketing companies – one in Beijing and one in the US, neither of which has more than 15 employees.

China Investment Corp, the country's main sovereign wealth fund, told the FT it has never heard of Mr Huang or about the bid for Liverpool, although people close to Mr Huang had earlier claimed that a "sovereign wealth fund from the Far East" was backing his bid.

At least one of the more extravagant claims made about Mr Huang – that he bid for and used to own part of the Cleveland Cavaliers NBA basketball team – is false, according to the NBA.

It has been widely reported in Chinese and western media that Mr Huang owns up to 15 per cent of the Cleveland Cavaliers and in numerous published and broadcast interviews Mr Huang has not denied this.

Through a spokesperson he told the FT on Friday that he is "no longer an owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers".

"Mr Huang has never had an ownership interest in the Cleveland Cavaliers or any other NBA team nor was he ever affiliated with an owner of an interest in an NBA team," the NBA told the Financial Times.

Mr Huang set up QSL Sports Limited last year. QSL has a small office in Beijing and employs about 15 people there. QSL employees and the company's website claimed to have an office at a prestigious central Hong Kong location but that office does not exist and the building's managers said they have no record of the company renting an office there.

After the FT raised questions about the office address and other assertions made by Mr Huang, QSL's website was taken down and replaced with a sign saying "Site under maintenance".

In May this year, QSL announced that Yang Guang, a portfolio manager and research analyst at fund management company Franklin Templeton, will "become a partner" of Mr Huang to jointly promote QSL's investment in China's nascent minor basketball league and help develop little league baseball in China, where the sport is virtually unknown.

Mr Yang's official Franklin Templeton biography says he has research responsibility for the European utilities and medical technology/supplies sectors.

Franklin Templeton in New York said: "Franklin Templeton has no involvement in the Liverpool FC bid and Yang Guang has also stated that he has no involvement."

Mr Huang says he was the first Chinese college graduate from mainland China to work at the New York Stock Exchange, where he was employed in the public relations department in 1988.

When asked what Mr Huang has been doing since then, his Hong Kong-based spokesperson said he was "in Wall Street doing private wealth management" for "some billionaires in the US."

Mr Huang had been associated with Rocket Capital, a fund set up by Leslie Alexander, owner of the Houston Rockets NBA basketball team.

The Rockets team said it was unable to confirm or deny Mr Huang's involvement with the team and Mr Huang's spokesperson in Hong Kong said she did not know whether Mr Huang was still working with Mr Alexander or Rocket Capital.

In one of his online biographies Mr Huang says he "has become one of the most accomplished business executives partnering with some of the largest state-owned enterprises in China."

But three high-profile successful Beijing-based investors in the China market said they had never heard of him or any investment deals he had done until the media frenzy surrounding his claims he wants to buy Liverpool FC.

Mr Huang refused to speak directly to the FT.

"When reality bites . ."

It must be hard being a footballer - and there are some parts of their lives that are not for me.
I read on here about Carragher and his future and you think . . "he's been a good servant and he's worked his socks off for the cause . ." and then I think, yes, but he picks up £3,000,000 plus a year. No hard feelings and no sympathy. Heroes are made of memories and soon JC will be a playing one.

Point is, we are on the verge of a new era. Players come and go. JC maybe has the rest of this season to play regularly and then it's all change. Before some of you get hysterical and weepy, maybe even irritated, that's life for want of a more explorative expression. Having said that - consider Mascherano this morning and there's a diffferent angle on the scenario.

He now wants to go to Barcelona. Didn't he want to join Inter Milan? Didn't he want to play for Rafa? Didn't he want to . . . . FILL IN THE GAPS . . .

I DO NOT believe in this 'mantra' (thanks Roy for the word) that "you can't keep an unhappy player." Arsene Wenger did. Arsenal did. If they have a contract they stay. If they are unhappy, they play in the reserves. If they refuse to do that, you don't pay them that month. If they walk out, you sue them for signing-on payments and wages paid. Consider this - players like Macherano and Fabregas sign contracts becuase they want £XXXX amount each year. The clubs say no and offer £XXXX on a longer deal. They haggle, agree and sign. You can't then walk away unless there is an agreement from the club. You try signing a contract for phone/Broadband for 12 months with BT and try to walk away from that. They will want their 10 months regardless. Why is it different for footballers?

Carragher is the sort that might stay and fight from the becnh or the odd game in the reserves. Would Mascherano? Call his bluff and say play or no pay. Before you say he won't perform - then ask who would that damage most? The player wanting the move who would be in the reserves the next game, or the club with the high profile?

We should be looking at Ada Turan, Babel, Ince, Eccleston, Kelly and other youth players with more conviction for this season. At this stage they are showing conviction and desire. I say keep Mascherano and make him play and get paid, or get paid and play in the reserves.

Finally, a similar case is that of Craig Bellamy. He's one of those sorts of players that seems to bleat loudly when things don't go his way. He suggests he won't play on if he isn't first choice/playing regularly. So what? He says he may play for Cardiff. So take a wage drop, stop the bleatings and just do it! You say too much and act too little.

Players are heroes with feet of clay, minds obsessed with self (and that's not a bad thing) and one eye on the future. Fine by me. I still have my heroes - Carragher, Cruyff, Rep, Dalglish, Effenberg, Heighway and on . . . What I don't have is loyalty to the players who say more than their actions measure up to. Roy! Get the chequebook out and get the forward, winger and leftback we need and tell John McMahon that Carra may pop down for a game or two at the end of the season and keep one of those tracksuit tops with JM at the ready!

Don't disagree without commenting and keep your fingers crossed that the public relations' assassinations of Kenny Huang don't put off the buyer.

11 Aug 2010 08:24:12
If Hicks & Gillett are wanting to get this deal over and done with quickly to one of thier so called friends (Kirdi) Then why has Kirdi asked for an extra 8 weeks to look at things properly ? All is not right with the books at Anfield. and to add to that point he has made a statement slagging Benitez off and praising Roy Hodgson. (Sky sports news) so Roy is staying put.
and I would like to add my wood to the fire, Zlatan Ibrahimovic has considered premier league football. make of it what you will (sky sports transfers)

11 Aug 2010 08:19:04
So Yahya Kirdi, now insisting he wants more time, and refuses to pay asking price. Seems to me he was probably brought into the equation by Hicks and Gillet to drive up the price and hurry up potential buyers, who probably being a bit more business savvy then H & G are, realised this. So now Kirdi is having to back track over his claims that the deal is all but signed!

Good because - Don't think Kirdi is the man we want, and those two bufoons would take a profir (they dont deserve a dime!!)

Bad because the club is just getting messed around, Hicks and Gillett have caused enough damage, Personnaly I hope Khalifa or Mohamed take over out of those that are rumoured to be interested, but I'd accept Huang. . I'd accept Montogmery Burns over those two Tossers who've put us in this position!

Just got news that Aqua is on the market after just 1 season with us.
Apparently Roy is looking foroffers from 12 million upwards due to injury.
I think we have not seen the best of him, and he was just coming into form late in the last season. Selling him would be a big mistake.

Ed, your thoughts??

11 Aug 2010 07:13:14
Before getting carried away with ridiculous tales of extravagant spending from any "potential" new owners. lets not lose touch with the fact that liverpool have a goalie that is top three in the world, two superb centre backs in agger n JC, englands right back (glen) and future centre back (kelly), an attacking force that includes stevie, joe, nando, milan, dirk, maxi and unbelievable prospects like pacheco, sterling, suso, wilson, shelvey, this squad is by no measns poor or lacking strength in depth. in my opinion poulsen might just be a masterstroke and if played with stevie as the two deep midfielders will allow him to have the influence on games that was missing last season!

11 Aug 2010 07:06:56
I have heard from Aiden McAllister albeit whilst drunk but (he is a nephew of MON)and he claims that MON has been approached by one of the interested parties in buying liverpool. If they get it they will appoint MON as manager. There must some truth to this as i see someone else has posted something similar. I thought it was the drink talking but hey the craic was good. See you up there.

11 Aug 2010 06:32:14
In my opinion Roy is a better manager than MON, also I can't see the new owners taking over in time to appoint MON before young/Milner leave villa.

I'd rather have Roy.

Bobby Davidson wouldnt lace babel's boots, i've heard of him, theres no way he's good enough for our beloved pool, i would bring back djimmi traore and stick him on the right wing first! Do think the mon rumour has some truth about it though, anyone else agree?

11 Aug 2010 04:00:21
I've heard Crouch will be at LFC very shortly but also has an offer on the table from Chelsea where John Terry and Ashley Cole are desperate for cheating Crouch to join the traditional club

11 Aug 2010 03:48:09
To the person who said this:

"Just been informed if the Huang bid is accepted this weekend, hodgson will have his 2 year contract paid out and replaced with martin oneil after huang and his representitives spoke with the Spirit Of Shankly (SOS) Liverpool Supporters Union. Mon will also try to bring milner and young and also an unheard of irish sensation by the name of Bobby Davidson to play right wing, currently at Larne fc.
Exciting times a head!!"

I appreciate you were just passing on (making up?) this news, but I *really* hope this DOESN'T happen. This is NOT The Liverpool Way!

Whilst I admit MON was probably my choice ahead of Roy, now he is in place we should afford him the same class and dignity as he has already shown us in his short time at the club. To be taken over and then s* t on from a great height would be 1 step forward and 2 steps back imho. .

MAJOR NEWS
There has been a MAJOR incident involving the misuse of club funds which has been discovered during the due diligence process. Fortunately this hasn't affected the sale process, but one of the club owners could well find himself in very hot water. This story should break after the sale of the club, this was one of the reasons Bentez left the club as he is high moral standard.

Shocking revelations have been revealed about prospective Liverpool owner Yahya Kirdi. Kirdi has been in negotiations with Liverpool owners George Gillette and Tom Hicks about a possible takeover of the Anfield club, believed to be worth £600m. Liverpool fans were left worried about this deal, as Kirdi is close friends with the son of George Gillette (Foster) and it seems as though the Americans are only pushing this deal through to make as much profit as possible, and certainly not for the interests of the club.

It has been revealed that Kirdi was infact not an international footballer for the Syria national team, and that he may have never played football at all. It had been revealed that he wasn't a billionaire as was claimed, but infact just "well-off". A shocking new revelation has come to the fort, with reports claiming that he isn't infact a corporate businessman as first believed, but he owned a handful of pizza outlets and a clothes store in Canada. He was also reportidly a janitor for a small business in Canada.

These revelations would certainly worry Liverpool fans, especially as Gillette and Hicks seem willing to push the deal through despite chairman Martin Broughton and Barclays Capital being put in charge of the deal. Kirdi claimed earlier this week that he would agree to take control of Liverpool before their opening game against Arsenal.

Kirdi claims to have backing from Canadian and Arab businessmen, as of yet there is no indication as to who they are and it doesn't look encouraging for the Reds' fans as Kirdi is not involved in a corporate business which makes it look increasingly unlikely that he has the backing he claims.

Liverpool fans hope that his claims to be close to agreeing a deal for the club carry lack of substance, like they did a few months back when Kirdi claimed he was about to take over the club.

Hearing that BARCA is wanting the offer €20 million or Hleb plus €10 million. . .
Jeffrén Suárez plus €17 million would be ideal or even Bojan plus €12 million, but Liverpool has Cole, Gerrard, Aquilani, Lucas, Pacheco, now Poulson, so the need for Hleb is really not needed.

What do you think? Suarez and Bojan are extremely good youngsters and with Villa, Messi, Zlatan and Pedro occupying the main spots as striker with Bojan looking on the out.

Hey Ed. Do you agree? and if you got some inside connections with LFC, please throw out this NO HELB, deal, as I would really like to see Aqua and Pacheco play their part!

In my opinion this team would dominate the reason i havent included carragher is simple he is to slow now of course he can come in for backup but if we want to re-gain a top 4 spot then he has to drop to the bench.

Tom.

save your crazy fantasies for football manager, son. Cole is here to play behind the striker, not out wide. .why people can't get used to that I just don't know. How uninformed can you get??

Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson will test Man City's resolve with an opening bid of £5m for winger Shaun Wright-Phillips. Arsenal are also said to be interested in the winger but it is believed that he would prefer a move to Anfield where he would be sure of more first team football.

Man City appear to be holding out for £8m to get the winger off their books, but they may be forced to compromise on the price to get a sale completed. Although not the most glamerous signing, Hodgson believes his pace and direct running would be extremly useful for the Liverpool side and it would give them a different option to hard-working Dirk Kuyt. Hodgson also wants to add more British signings to his team and Wright-Phillips is an experienced Premiership name meaning he would not have to adapt to a new league or learn a new language.

Hodgson hopes to have a deal completed before the game against Arsenal, but it looks unlikely due to what could be a tough negotiation process.

As much as i agree with bringing through the youngsters and giving them a chance, does jay spearing fit the bill as a long term Lfc central midfielder? although i hope i am wrong, he seems too small and lightweight, although this does not determine your ability it certainly helps with the physical side of the english game. anyone agree?

This story has been lifted directly from the forum pages of the LFC website and was originally posted over 24 hours ago.

The only misuse of funds was paying Voronin a salary.

Hi Guys this just in from the Telegraph, dosen't look good about this Kenny guy:

Liverpool sale plot thickens after Kenny Huang lawsuit is revealed
Potential Liverpool owner Kenny Huang was successfully sued for nearly $800,000 (£505, 000) in damages by a former business partner after their relationship went sour.

Liverpool-New Kenny Huang twist in Liverpool sale saga
Kop for sale: Liverpool's board will meet on Thursday to discuss potential bidders for the club Photo: PA

According to the judgment, a copy of which has been seen by Telegraph Sport, Huang, then a resident of Las Vegas, was ordered to pay damages of $750,000 (£473, 000) and interest of $788, 300 (£497, 000).

Huang was faced with suits for tortious interference with a business relationship, fraud, defamation and a breach of fiduciary duty brought by AutoChina Ltd, but won them all and was awarded $300,000 (£189, 000) in damages earlier this year.

"Mr Huang's focus is now on preparing QSL's bid [for Liverpool] and he has briefed all of his advisers that he will be making no further comment at this point in time, " the spokesman said.

"I can't pay one pound more than value of Liverpool, I'm not crazy, " he said. Kirdi said he was backed by "big names" from the Middle East and Canada but declined to name them.

In response to the above

This is probably part of the smear campaign that a lot of respected and reliable LFC site's have being saying H&G were trying to do for the past 7-10 days.

For me IF Kenny Huang is backed by CIC then its a no brainer i'd be very very pleased.

But who know's what's happening?

Hey guys i want to know your thoughts on what i reccomend iv'e heard that oezil can go for anything from 12-15m so why doesnt hogdson push for 35m from the mash sale and buy

oezil - 15m - quality 21 years old and has bags more of potential great at unlocking defenses.

Turan - 12m - Simply tremendous just look at Galatasrys matches this guy is just superb and is only 23!

Hulk - 15m tremendous striker proved in the portuguese league and is only 24!

We could fund these transfers easily with the sale of masch - 35m

Riera 3m

Benayoun - 6m
= 44m

With these reinforcements this would be the team

Reina

Johnson kelly agger aurelio

gerrard

Cole Oezil Turan

Hulk Torres

Not a new rumour but Aussie press (in particular SBS' "The World Game" website) are reporting that "Brad Jones has all but completed his dream move to Liverpool with Middlesbrough accepting an upgraded offer of [AUD]$4.3 million for the Australia goalkeeper." TWG also said that the "[f]ormalities of the deal were concluded in the early hours of Wednesday morning (Australian time) with Boro, which had earlier rejected an offer of [AUD]$3.5m, deciding to let Jones go."

Looks like we have a new backup to Reina!

Babel has to play regularly this season, from the left if he must or at least as the back up striker. im confident Roy will get the best out of what really is a brilliant player.

11 Aug 2010 00:20:34
Have to agree that Pachecho not playing would be such a waste of a talent. If he can get some games almost like an additional signing for the first team.

Pacheco is in that typical spanish mould such as Xavi and Iniesta. Not necessarily in the positions they play but more in the technical aspects he possesses which for some reason alot of english players lack.

11 Aug 2010 00:15:28
Can't believe the number of rumours stating ex players are returning - Crouch, Bellamy, Owen, Riise, Cisse, Murphy and Warnock. With the exception of Warnock, taking any of the others back is a step backward. These players have had their time here, and whilst for the most part they gave excellent service it is time to move forward.
LFC is team considered by most fans of other clubs as a team living on past glories, you can only imagine the ammunition we would be giving them by taking in relics of our past teams that failed to achieve!

To the person that said this

'Christian Poulsen has signed for Liverpool, no need to speculate any further. If you want to keep up to date with all liverpool transfers check out wikipedia.
They have poulsen's current club as liverpool!'

I do believe that Poulsen will be a liverpool player soon, but you do understand the concept of wikipedia, right? In fact I'm gonna go on and edit King Kennys page to say he's just signed a contract to play full-time for us again and lets see who believes it!! BTW Ed, great site.
