Ramsey to Juventus for a reported 400k a week.

You didn't read that wrong. that's FOUR HUNDRED THOUSAND.

Thank goodness we stayed away from that. Much better options out there. (fingers crossed for Rabiot personally)

Believable9 Unbelievable0

{Ed0333's Note - Wow that’s just crazy talk...Do you think they’d be interested in Lalana?

11 Feb 2019 17:59:48
Worse still, the reports say the £400k is his basic salary. I assumed it included a MASSIVE signing on fee averaged out over the life on the contract, that he was able to negotiate because he was on a "free" transfer. I hope the reports are wrong in that regard.

Basically they've done the equivalent of paying a £40m transfer fee for Ramsey and then paying him £200k a week. I suppose it's not completely insane in the current market, but compare Ramsey to Fabinho and it doesn't really strike me as a great idea. And that's before they've paid his agent or any performance bonuses.

Why's everyone want rabot? Average at best for me.

If that figure is true then it's completely nuts, and in fact really bad for football clubs trying to build and hold onto their players. He may end up being an advocate for players to run their contracts down, with the knowledge that if they do, they'll end up with a massive pay day.

Players knew this already, of course, but when they see someone run their contract down and get £400k a week, more and more players will follow his example. Also, he's not even that special. OK he's a good player, but nowhere near the best there is in his position.

£83m, over 4 years?!?!?!?!

For Arron Ramsey?!?!?!

OMFG!

11 Feb 2019 19:26:28
Jesus I'm aware that a higher salary is often affordable to the signing club due to it being a free transfer, but did Juventus have to go that high to convince Ramsey? it was far and away his best option.

Something we may not be aware of Ed002?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I really have no idea what contractual agreement he has but that sounds well beyond what I would expect.}

and there goes the 99p price for milk. How will I afford protein shakes now?!

Juventus head of recruitment sacked by december. that's insane money for ramsey.

11 Feb 2019 19:04:22
Worst thing is this guy will be injured after about a dozenen games and then he will just carry on picking up the cash.

ED333 we should pay them to take both Lalana and Sturidge!

Agree3 Disagree0

{Ed0333's Note - if only mate. I’d gift wrap Lalana & Sturbridge in pink bows and personally drive both of them to Turin if that were the case. It really bothers me that they are both still at the club picking up such ridiculous salaries and offering zero.

12 Feb 2019 01:53:15
£325k a week according to Sky, what an absolute mess. £325,000 to do a bit of exercise for 5 days a week. There are people who put themselves in serious danger in their job and get paid sod all.

I think we will sell studger and lallana in the summer 100%. I think we already have replacements for both in wilson and brewster.

and ramsey wage if true is only going to screw the head of few cash hungry agents who will in turn fed (read f**K) up the minds of their clients. There are some much much better players than ramsey who are not earning half what he is going to be earning if rumours are true.
It was always going to happen though, the market was going unaffordable and clubs were going to buy on free destroying any remaining wages cap sense left.

Ramsey is a quality player. His argument for the high wages will have been simple. 50% tax on the 400k means he will earn 200k after tax. The cost of his wages is equivalent to signing a player worth £31.2m on 200k wages. He could easily argue that Juve would not be able to get a player of his quality and experience for £31.2m. He is a goalscoring CM in the prime years of his career at a time when that sort of midfielder is making a real comeback in the game as opposed to the lower G+A but better buildup CMs such as Xavi, Iniesta, David Silva, etc.

{Ed0333's Note - you’re forgetting his signing on fee, agents fees, tax etc etc mate.

I’m available on a Bosman 👍.

{Ed025's Note - after studying your performance in the charity match ron...juve said they are not looking for a stunt man mate.. :)

400k a week is just insane, especially for a player like Ramsey. what is up with Juve at the moment?

Cheers Ed002, I guess we'll wait and see if there's any truth to it. Insane if true.

according to the guardian Juventus want Salah, apparently willing to pay 175 million for him, have they even got that kind of money.

Dybala plus £100 mil? I’d take that.

Dybala is no replacement for Salah. Where do you spend that £100, if you've already taken up his place in the team with another player.

Salah has proven to be extremely consistant, and at a very high level. In the current market, he's worth more than 175 mil.

He'll still be playing long after Ronaldo, Suarez and Messi retire, and will no doubt fill their void and I honestly think he'll win the Ballon D'Or in a couple of years.

Agree9 Disagree4

11 Feb 2019 20:38:53
Where do you spend £100 million? Back up GK, RB and LB, Milner replacement (if he leaves, not that I want him to), back up to the front 3.
There’s plenty of depth that needs adding and £100million would be helpful given our large spend last summer.
My initial response was tongue in cheek - just thought it point that out.

Agree2 Disagree3

11 Feb 2019 21:37:32
£175milliion is crazy money. If that was even possible I’d hope the money is spent on developing our youth teams and making Anfield even bigger!

Agree0 Disagree1

12 Feb 2019 00:47:45
We don't need to sell Salah to buy a back up keeper rb lb lw/ rw/ st we hace money for that and selling deadwood and freeing wage will be enough.

Agree1 Disagree0

12 Feb 2019 04:45:45
Deadwood😂 I didn’t know Liverpool had resorted to selling timber to raise funds.

Agree2 Disagree0

12 Feb 2019 13:42:36
What's the point of backups for your defense and front 3, if your star striker who scores 30-40 goals is sold off? Dybala is clearly not the man to bring in those 30-40 goals, not that type of player.
