Eds, what is the latest on Vidal and Di Maria, will LFC put in an offer for one or both of them? who is actually interest in them?

Believable5 Unbelievable30

{Ed001's Note - neither are likely to be coming.}

11 Jul 2014 20:57:21
Kash, I think they will both end up at Utd. I gat to admit it but they will be strong next season.

Agree4 Disagree1

Dez, I really hope they don't end up there. I pray we manage to bring in more quality in addition to the good business already completed

Agree1 Disagree0

11 Jul 2014 23:08:40
Dont make laugh. end up at utd? Lol.
Vidal is going no where that's why they are selling Pogba to Chelsea or PSG or Madrid to afford to keep him.
And you can bet top dollar if Pogba ends up at Madrid Di Maria will play for Juventus. But if Madrid has signed Toni Kroos so maybe Pogba is heading let's hope to PSG.

Agree0 Disagree4

I hear utd will be getting Di Maria, Hummels & Vidal! They are looking strong. If these signings all happen

Agree0 Disagree1

And I hear its all manc nonsense to sell papers. no chance in hell of them getting those 3

Agree3 Disagree1

Thinking about it, here is what will happen.
Hummels will end up at Barcelona if he moves at all.
Vidal will stay and sign a new huge bumper deal soon.
Chelsea will sell Ramires to Real Madrid
Juventus will sell Pogba to Chelsea and Juventus will sign Di Maria from Madrid.
PSG will buy Oscar from Chelsea and sell Veratti to Juventus and Lavezzi/Cavani to Chelsea. Utd will sign none of the players mentioned.

reports coming from the Liverpool Echo that claim Liverpool have now made contact with QPR to discuss a possible deal to take Remy to Anfield.

Eds have we yet, or do you think that we will try for konoplyanka or is that gone now?

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Not spoken with his club since January.}

Oh ok thanks ed

Agree1 Disagree0

Good player, good price but would prefer we gave Borini a go. If he goes to Sunderland for £8m then Remy for £8m is a great replacement, but doubt he'd be happy to play squad role. he won't be first name down like at previous clubs

Agree0 Disagree0

remy would be a good buy but think we need to look elsewhere. We have back ups now in lambert and borini (aspas still our player as well) so let's get a 1st team regular please

Hi Ed,
Israeli media is reporting we might be after Eran Zehavi as Aspas' replacement.
As An Israeli I would love it but not sure if he is LFC level.
any truth?

Believable2 Unbelievable55

{Ed001's Note - not a clue sorry, never even heard of him.}

11 Jul 2014 17:56:51
Great site. I was wondering if you know why our interest in Shaqiri evaporated? Seemed keen to join us and seems a great player; decent price, young, quick, and offered plenty of options from winger to striker to creator. Great World Cup too.

Was it down to his wage demands?

Believable11 Unbelievable3

{Ed001's Note - no, it was because Bayern offered him a new contract and he preferred to stay.}

And then we have moved to markovic by the way

Agree3 Disagree0

11 Jul 2014 17:53:46
Hi Eds, quick question, with Suarez now gone, can you see us replacing him with Cavani? We surely need another world class striker, cheers

Believable1 Unbelievable44

{Ed001's Note - no.}

If we need a world class striker why would we go for Cavani? We will be fine with what we have providing Markovic and a centre back come in. We will play a different way this season, harder to beat but still a threat. We sacrificed ourselves defensively last season to get Suarez and Sturridge in the team.

11 Jul 2014 17:42:25
Eds, I've seen reports linking us to Wesley Sneijder again. Any indication that we are actually going for him or just lazy journo's?

Believable3 Unbelievable33

{Ed001's Note - nothing in it as far as I am aware.}

Hope not - way past his best

11 Jul 2014 18:25:45
Away from all the Suarez stuff, do the eds know if markovic had his medical today? Many thanks for your response.

Believable10 Unbelievable3

{Ed001's Note - I don't believe he is over yet, I think it is tomorrow, but not 100% on that.}

Is the deal all but done

Agree3 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - yes.}

11 Jul 2014 16:04:00
ED 001, you said you would ask about Griezmann today. Any luck?

Believable5 Unbelievable10

{Ed001's Note - already answered down the page, still waiting on a definite answer but the quick reply was they didn't think so.}

It's a striker we are after plus Markovich. BR wants four strikers next season.

Agree2 Disagree0

Oh my bad, thanks for the quick replies as always.

Agree1 Disagree1

Far too lightweight and inconsistent - fee will be high and no better than what we have

Dear Ed´s,
Thank you for the fantastic site and the Liverpool fix you provide!
Was there ever any hope and is there still hope for toby alderweireld?

Believable4 Unbelievable13

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool decided the asking price was too high last summer and moved or Sakho.}

11 Jul 2014 15:05:49
Hi eds the inderpendant, the mail and a few others claim Liverpool will try to sign loic remy now Suarez has gone, do u see this happening, also do u think him to be better than bony, thanks.

Believable1 Unbelievable17

{Ed002's Note - I am not sure what will happen but I don't know anything about interest from LFC.}

Bloody hope not!not good enough!

What is the latest with the exception of suarez regarding out going players?

Believable16 Unbelievable3

{Ed002's Note - Clubs are interested in Aspas and Assaidi but money is proving an issue. Efforts are still being made to find a new club for Suso.}

11 Jul 2014 10:34:00
eds, how do you see wisdom fitting in this season?do you think he has a chance to claim the centre back spot next to Sakho or do you thinkwe will bring someone like Lovren in?

Believable5 Unbelievable9

{Ed002's Note - I am b y no means sure Wisdom will be at the club next season.}

11 Jul 2014 11:46:56
I agree with Ed001 and I won't be surprised if he is gone permanently.

Agree1 Disagree0

Are there are clubs showing an interest Ed?

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - Derby.}

Keen to know what others thoughts are, including Eds.

What message does going out on loan give to our players? Is it just basically a shop window?

I ask cause Wisdom did well at Derby. Borini did well at Sunderland and although injuries didn't help, Assidi did fine at Stoke both the last two mention scored goals against top sides. All three are available, although we are looking for their positions in the market.

Last one Ilori did well in Spain, an outstanding game against Barca. Not hearing anything about him, again we're looking at CBs

I can see why Suso could leave, although a talent he didn't do very well on loan but wants more 1st team action.

Agree1 Disagree0

He should be given a chance at RB to be honest - Johnson was disappointing last season and Wisdom's definitely better defensively in my opinion.

Agree1 Disagree0

I'd be very dissapointed if we let Wisdom go this summer, I really like him and the little I saw of him at Derby was very impressive.

Agree1 Disagree0

@Crunch I have huge amounts of issues with your post mate!
First off, Lovren is a LCB, so if we do bring him in then IMO it would be as a replacement for Agger and he would certainly not be displacing Llori or Wisdom. BTW what I saw of Llori last season he looked anything but ready for the PL as he is too lightweight.
Second while Assaidi and Borini may have scored a couple of important goals for there respective loan clubs last season they hardly set the world on fire and I wouldn't expect them to be selected in front of the prospective signings of Markovich or Bony (or the current squad members Coutinho or Lambert for that matter).
Lastly, Brendan has only been with the club for a couple of years and therefore youth players may have been selected for a different style of play so it would seem obvious that unless they can adapt to our style of play (independent of their caliber) then they must be put in the 'shop window'.
May forums for debate like this one live long.

Hi Edds is there any truth in Aspas being part of a deal for Moreno?

Believable6 Unbelievable10

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any deal for Moreno at this time and Liverpool has been looking elsewhere.}

Moreno is class but looks our interest has dwindled.In my opinion Gareth Bale in the making.Never say never tho.

Interesting article in the metro, comparing Bony with Benzema, Balotelli and Origi. The defensive stats are particularly interesting.
Also remember that Bony took a while to settle into the pl, with 12 of his goals coming in the second half of the season.
Google metro bony stats.

Believable18 Unbelievable10

I read the same article. I'd be tickled if we put in a bid for Bony.

Agree0 Disagree1

I read the article some of the stats are silly I would say but with or without the stats bony would be my choice out of those players anywho!

Agree0 Disagree0

I can tickle you.

Agree0 Disagree0

I hope we put a bid in. 25 goals last season and 16 in the premier league. And he's a tough boy, just what we need up front.

Agree0 Disagree0

I have to be honest and say Bony wouldn't be my first choice but, if he made the move, i'd support him. What I can't fathom is fans saying he is "just what we need up front"? How is he just what we need up front!? We just bought Lambert to give us a physical presence and it is clear to anybody who actually watched us last season that a "tough boy" is simply not a requirement for the system we play. I think Bony is a good player but would be unsuitable for our system and would certainly not be as effective as a Suarez-type player because his main strengths are aerial and power - something that would be almost redundant in the system we play.

Agree3 Disagree0

The Metro is a comic

Agree1 Disagree0

3 months ago I mention Bony and it was "no way!" Now.

Agree1 Disagree0

Also confused as to why we would go for Bony when we have Lambert. TBH prefer to bank the cash till next Jan/Jul than spend it on Bony. A good player perhaps just not what we need at the mo.

Agree0 Disagree0

Surely Bony would want to play the No. 9 role; so where does that leave Sturridge?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Bony has played attacking midfield and second striker a lot in his career apparently. I never knew that until I was reading a message from someone who has worked with him. They didn't seem to think he would have any worries about playing in any of those 3 roles, if asked to do so.}

11 Jul 2014 07:41:14
Hi Eds, So is there really any interest in Griezmann from us?

Ed001 also said he will ask about Bony . any updates?

Lastly, I really liked Domenico Berardi - do you know if any scouts from Liverpool have been sent to watch him over the last season? I would take him to replace Suarez.

Also, any news regarding Kelly and Enrique fitness? As well as whether Rossiter will feature during the pre-season?

Believable9 Unbelievable3

{Ed001's Note - from what I can find out, there is no interest in Griezmann right now, mainly due to price.

I haven't had the people who would know exactly who it was about get back to me, but we have held talks with Swansea. The reason why its Bony and Davies being linked is simply papers guessing, they are just looking at what we need and putting 2 and 2 together and hoping to be right. I was reminded that Brendan Rodgers loved their other left back Taylor, when he was in charge, so that has to be a possibility too. I am also told they have interest in some of our players, so it is equally likely it could be a player leaving. I am hoping to get some more info today on it.

I don't know sorry, the name has never been mentioned to me at all, not in connection with anyone, that I can remember.

Kelly was fit all last season, we were just easing him back to fitness like we did with Flanno. Enrique has been back in training already, Monday I think it was he started, again I wouldn't expect much from him for a while. Rossiter is expected to feature heavily in preseason.}

11 Jul 2014 08:31:28
Great reply Ed. Seems viable it could be any of the players you have said or could be them after our players. Are you hoping to find out today mate?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - fingers crossed yes. It seems I was wrong about being in another country not making things more difficult! It is so much harder to push people for info when over here, even just because the time differs by a few hours, so you have less time to chase them up.}

Vorm maybe?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - good point, I had completely forgotten about him.}

I would really like Taylor, and could be significantly cheaper than Davies. Still young and proven in the Prem. Yes he's had his injury problems but to me it makes more sense than Davies.

BR loved him and he's not getting game time at Swansea.

LB : Taylor/Moreno
LCB: Sakho/Toure
RB: Lovren/Ilori
RB: Flanno/Johnson

That's damn good in my opinion.

I know we are unlikely to get 2 lb's but one can dream!

Agree1 Disagree0

Do you rate either Davies or Taylor Eds? Or would you rather Bertrand, who is seeming more likely?

Agree2 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - before his injury Taylor looked impressive, but he has barely played since then. Not a fan in the slightest of Davies though. Not convinced by Bertrand either. But I hope that they will prove me wrong if we sign any of them!}

RedDawn why no Skrtel or Wisdom?

Agree1 Disagree0

I think it's time to move Skrtel on while we can still get a fee for him and Wisdom would either be backup for RB/CB or get a loan to a Prem club. If Sktrel stays then great and Ilori can get a loan or be used sparingly.

One thing we are not short of is defenders with potential who need game time.

Kelly, Ilori, Wisdom, Smith, McLaughlin. We can't play them all, but given a good loan we could end up with a very good batch of young players.

Agree1 Disagree0

RedDawn, I agree wit u on Skrtel but you're living in dreamland if u think we could be signing 2 left backs. Would u b so keen on Taylor then? I wouldn't.

Agree0 Disagree0

Fair point RedDawn. I just post an answer to a recent question, but it also relates to your answer here.

The Liverpool loan, it's becoming like the Chairmanship vote of confidence. Not many managers survive after that, not many LFC players regardless how well they do survive a loan deal.
How many are coming back, welcomed and not for sale from last season?

Good afternoon Ed. Sorry mate to push my look but have you had any feedbavl yet lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - not yet sorry. At this rate you will all be able to tell me what is going on instead!}

Heard anything since Ed001?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - not yet mate, it is a busy time at the moment for people in football, they can often not get in touch for days unless I can prod them.}

10 Jul 2014 22:26:33
Hi Ed's

Do you know if we hold any interest in jackson martinez from porto?
I Hope we do as I believe he has the fire power to replace suarez.
Also I personally think sanchez was over rated and over paid. Glad he did not choose us due to his missus not wanting to live in merseyside.

Any info on lovren on the deal?

Thank's

Believable3 Unbelievable4

{Ed001's Note - No interest in him from us that I know of. I totally disagree on Sanchez, I would have loved him to sign for us. As far as I know there is no change on Lovren, but I am pretty sure he is away on holiday at the moment, and he will be sitting down and speaking to the club when he returns.}

11 Jul 2014 07:47:52
Sanchez is a great player bit if he had to sign for anyone else I would have picked Arsenal. They just spent 30m strengthening the position that is by far their strongest with Walcott, Ox, Podolski, Carzola and Gnaby (and sometimes Wilshere and Ramsey slotting in as well)

Agree3 Disagree0

I don't think that it was a case of his wife/girlfriend not wanting to live on Merseyside (or any English city for that matter) - she wants to live in London. It's certainly attractive to many people.

Agree1 Disagree0

I'm gutted about Sanchez. During the previous WC and whilst still at Udinese, I rated him at that time as possibly world's best player.
Barcelona has stifled him. Great player, and one of only a couple worthy of (trying) to replace Suarez.

No chance of him, or Falcao so I don't think we should try and replace Suarez, but look at where the better players are in the world for other positions.

At the end of last season I made a few vague shouts for J Martinez, Sissoko at Newcastle and even Debuchy as latter two wouldn't break the bank, then put your money where it's needed.
