Hi Eds

Is there any truth in the reported interest in Max Meyer of Schalke? And that a bid from us is likely in the next few days. He seems to young for us and not what's needed.

Believable23 Unbelievable8

{Ed001's Note - I don't know mate.}

11 Jun 2014 23:40:12
Max Meyer. I'm not sure if we have interest (I'll send an email tomorrow and try to find out) but what I can say is it'd be a pretty much pointless signing. He is good, but he offers less than Sterling or Suso. I've seen a bit of him this year and I was impressed, he would be a good player to have in the squad in 2 years time but I can't see him being a viable alternative to Lallana & definitely not Shaqiri (Meyer is better through the middle). It's obviously irrelevant if we're not interested I will try tomorrow.

Agree0 Disagree6

I hope this is true. Great talent!

Agree2 Disagree0

Meyer and Shaqari for less than the asking price of Lallana

Is it true we have bid 8 million for Max Meyer? Never seen him play but highly regarded.

Believable35 Unbelievable22

I can't imagine Max Mayer is first team ready Ed? He is just 18 I think. Maybe one for the future.

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - looks a bit special though in the little I have seen of him.}

He is a special player Ed, but he doesn't offer more than Sterling or Suso so I wouldn't see the point unless we just loan him oit immediately and wait for a ROI. The way he dribbles though is Messi-esque. It would be for the future if we were interested.

Agree0 Disagree5

For 8m he doesn't seem much better than Ibe or Dunn

Agree0 Disagree0

He may not be first team ready yet, but an 18 year old who had 6 goals and 4 assists in 1, 800 minutes? I'd take him in a heartbeat. By comparison, everyone seems to want Barkley who is 2 years older, played 400 more minutes and had 6 goals, 2 assists. Meyer will someday be absolute class, I have no doubt.

Media is apparently claiming that Diego Lovren has handed in a transfer request into Southampton.

Believable29 Unbelievable9

{Ed002's Note - It would not be out of the question for Lovren to move on this summer and with Southampton showing an interest in Caulker the club are likely expecting offers. Interest is there from Roma and Liverpool and even Barcelona may be keeping a watching brief. Liverpool had a verbal offer rejected as being far too low for the player. Spurs are looking for two centre backs and will, with their new manager, also look to Lovren.}

He has also claimed that he wants to join a CL club wich would suggest Tottenham would be out of the running.

Diego
Its Dejan he's Croatian not from South America

Agree2 Disagree1

He was unhappy with Pochettino leaving, so I think that Spuds will be a good bet for him. We've not been mentioned with him for a while sine our verbal low offer.

Is Diego Lovren any good? Hope he's as good as Dejan Lovren!

Agree3 Disagree1

Yeah, that guy Dejan, I heard he's mustard. :)

Sadly I can't blame my iPad for this, I made a glaring error there. Before, i've typed his second name as ''Lovern'' but that was the iPad.

Agree2 Disagree1

I wouldn't get too excited! The "source" is very suspect, and if it was correct it would take a fee above that quoted for Shaw and Lallana to get anywhere. That would mean a big chunk of the money for Suarez, and without him in your squad the player would not be interested.
Besides, a new manager at Saints may very quickly placate the bonus issues and such froth could clear rapidly.

Agree0 Disagree2

You sound quite confident St Mary's. more hopefully than fact however. We are not a one man team, What makes you think Suarez is going Anywere?!

Agree3 Disagree1

Honestly don't know what StMarys is talking about. From my perspective, Lovren isn't worth half of Shaw or Lallana's fees, and a transfer for Lovren wouldn't have anything to do with Suarez (except perhaps the perception that he carries in other people's eyes, being one of the main catalysts for our success). Furthermore, Suarez won't move for anything less than a massive bid that would likely cover the transfer fees for most of Southampton's squad. Sounds to me like you want Lovren, Lallana and Shaw to stay at SH when A. they don't know what manager is going to be there, B. there's a possibility the team won't be as successful next season (let's be honest, they surprised most people)
C. teams are busting down the door to get at them and the club is slowly handling its own business before it addresses theirs.
I do wish them all the best, and if they sell their talent at a high price they can afford to progress and stay up for years to come, which is the most important thing for them going forward.

Agree1 Disagree0

For what i've seen he's decent but what do you think ed can he cut it at Liverpool if we get him? he's still young

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea.}

I was just trying to help you guys with a little perspective, but you obviously know very little about other clubs situations and would rather not be helped.

Suggest you examine Saints ability to afford to progress compared to LFC and your perspective may be improved. Saints have no need or desire to sell and would only do so at a deal right for them (remember £40m+£1?) It is the selling club in this situation who sets the conditions-or is Lallana not relevant?

A more simple way might be to ask yourselves-"if we have difficulty funding Lallana where will we get the money to fund Lovren?" IMHO the answer to that would be from Real Madrid and that would seriously adjust your prospects for next season and the ability to attract players like Lovren. Lovren will have other options that could perhaps offer what he wants and what Saints would accept (maybe not the case with Lallana), so I still suggest "don't get too excited".

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I am sorry but the fee Southampton are looking at for Lovren is not unreasonable, although the verbal offer from Liverpool was. You should probably stick to the Southampton page.}

Aspas is off to Madrid? ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

St Mary's you assume Liverpool's offers for Lallana are based just on what Liverpool can afford. There is also the aspect of what Liverpool believe he is worth and are prepared to pay

Hi Eds, with the moves for Lallana and Shaqiri seeming to have stalled do you see us pursuing Iturbe, especially now that Hellas Verona have said they will sell (although I guess they want a bidding war). Thanks for your work, much appreciated.

Believable7 Unbelievable11

{Ed002's Note - No. Verona bought him this summer for the purposes of profiteering - and we cannot discuss a little side deal that has been agreed. This has driven Napoli and Fiorentina out of any chance of buying the player. Roma, Real Madrid and Chelsea have made it clear they are interested - and efforts have been made to try and get Manchester City, Barcelona and other clubs interested so they can sell to the highest bidder. Generally clubs are not interested in auctions.}

12 Jun 2014 07:55:56
These people who keep saying our bids have 'stalled' seem to be forgetting a small international tournament that's starting today. No player who is in Brazil playing for their country would want any distractions right now so just relax & enjoy the world cup. There'll be plenty left of the transfer window afterwards. Enjoy all! :)

So it looks like Sociedad want Jonathan Dos Santos in part exchange for Bravo. So, Tello will be going elsewhere, do you expect Liverpool to be one of the clubs vying for his signature?

Believable7 Unbelievable4

{Ed002's Note - They are not right now but it wouldn't be out of the question. Porto and Everton have spoken with Barcelona.}

11 Jun 2014 11:26:19
ed sorry this a moreno question but a report has said that the way savilla want payment is beyond Liverpools means and we have given up do u no if we have thanks

Believable7 Unbelievable21

{Ed002's Note - Read the posts Danny - to be honest I am sick of answering this same question over and over.}

We have agreed everything but the payment method. The fee is done. Sevilla want more money up front, we want it broken into installments. I don't get what people can't understand. I'm not savvy to the finances in football but I know what wanting more money up front means. Its a payment breakdown issue, not a total cost issue.

Agree3 Disagree0

Np ed I have seen your answers thanks only time will tell

Agree1 Disagree1

Like Brendan said, we are involved in complex transfers that won't be done and dusted quickly. It took 3 weeks for Can to sign when it was first revealed that the club wanted him. Its a case of waiting and seeing. The club has been very active in its approach so far this summer and the transfer window hasn't even officially opened!

our we really at this again, cum on

Agree0 Disagree5

The fee I believe was agreed on Thursday. No problem with the amount. As EMS said it's more about the terms of the payments, they want more upfront for him.

Is there any interest in Johnson at all? Do you know is LFC will attempt to move him on?

Get feeling he will be here next season and will play also but thought I would ask

Believable2 Unbelievable17

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any plans to move him on at this time.}

Hey eds,
Just a question on some of our players that spent time on loan. Wanted to hear your views on the following just to get a better idea.

As you've said before, suso will most likely leave.
Has Assaidi been priced out of a move to Stoke?
Fabio Borini to stay or go? Heated up more since we signed lambert.
Seb Coates should be hopefully moved on.
Jack Robinson to be moved on also?
Two players I'm keen to know about is Andre Wisdom and Jordon Ibe.
Rate them both, I think Ibe has the ability to follow in the steps of Sterling. Hopefully he will be given time to show us his potential.
Andre Wisdom, in my opinion, is a great player at the back. I think he better than Johnson defensively, but doesn't offer as much going forward.

Then there's the situation with Martin Kelly. What's the go with him?

Cheers eds, hope you can clarify some of this for us.
EPL Boiz for life.

Believable11 Unbelievable3

{Ed002's Note - Assaidi - I cannot see any Dutch side paying the fee asked by Liverpool which will see off interest from Twente. Genoa and Stoke are also interested but again, they would probably not be keen at that price and still lingering concerns about injury.
Borini wants to stay.
Coates will go if a buyer can be found.
Robinson will probably move on.
Wisdom - a loan or squad member.
Ibe - I would think a loan or squad member.
Kelly in the squad for next season.}

Exactly what is the situation with Suso? youve said before he wants assurances and that's fair enough but unless he is asking for something ridiculous I don't see why we can't offer him game time. subs against lower teams and an adequate amount of starts in the FA and League cup sounds more than fair to me for someone of his age and current skill and experience

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - That is not what Suso wants at all. It was always going to be the case that he would want assurances and Rodgers would not be able to do that, espaecially given they are looking to add Lallana to the squad. Liverpool will sell him and have been approached by Borussia Moenchengladbach and Porto - although Borussia Moenchengladbach now have their minds set on another player.}

I also think that Wisdom is a good player he reminds of the early Micah Richards, physically very strong, good in the air, has a bit of pace and is a good defender, If Johnson is to be sold then i'm happy with the options at RB as we have Wisdom, Kelly & Flanagan who are all young and hungry and can all fill the void in my opinion.

I hope Borini stays as we need 4 quality strikers and Borini impressed at Sunderland, also he is still young and by playing with better players he will certainly get better.

Ibe in my view should be given pre season along with Texieria to show what he can offer next season, if deemed good enough we use them as squad players if not deemed ready than we get them a loan.

Morning Eds

Is Bertrand or Erkin still an option for left back slot or anyone else being looked at as an altetnative to Moreno?

I can't see us stretching to the payment installments for Moreno tbh despite the lengthy process.

Believable2 Unbelievable9

{Ed002's Note - Erkin is no longer available but Ryan Bertrand is.}

Thanks Ed

Do you think we could well turn to him then now? I thought another Epl side were very keen on him.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Hull and Spurs have also shown an interest. I have explained what interest Liverpool has had.}

Thanks again. let's see what unfolds on the LB slot. I hope we get Moreno. Will see.

Agree1 Disagree0

We will be signing Bertrand.

Agree0 Disagree1

I do hope you're wrong. He is no better than Enrique. If we sign Bertrand all of the talk of bringing in better quality will go out of the window and we will have another squad player on our hands. It will be last summer all over.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - As with any prospective Liverpool player now is the right time to start trashing him - he has won the Champions League, the League, played for England - but knowing nothing you start trashing him. It was the same when Sturridge joined. Embarrassing to read as ever.}

Bertrand. Why Bertrand he was rubbish at Villa and is rubbish. If we sign him it has to be a joke and a farce.
