Think u lot are forgetting that QPR get a % of the sterling money.
If he's sold for $50m Liverpool would only bank roughly $38m with the rest going to QPR.
So no way are they gunna sell for 25/30m.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - Complex, the threat of Webster and no sale this summer makes him worth perhaps £8M in January.}

12 Jun 2015 01:35:39
He's got two years left on his contract. So not this January but next yeah 8m.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - no this January, or he would be going for nothing. Do you not understand? Only you seem to be getting it all wrong, clearly not understanding that next summer he can just go under the Webster ruling.}

12 Jun 2015 03:23:15
The club better not act proud and hold on to him, resulting in selling at a loss. I know you've worked around this question before Ed001, but do Liverpool have a specific player in mind if Sterling leaves or are their targets independent of what happens with him? In other words I'm seriously hoping Konoplyanka isn't the standard were setting as replacement

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - it is not Konoplyanka, the possibilities, such as Cheryshev, have been mentioned before.}

12 Jun 2015 07:08:48
Think Ed02 is pulling your leg at £8m in January - if he's in demand the we'd still get a good fee.

Not that we would let his contract run down but we'd still get a fee due to his age.

That said I think we should sell and if we are going to get upward on £30m then we have to.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - there is no leg pulling, Aidy Ward has made it plain the Webster ruling is a very real possibility.}

12 Jun 2015 07:13:06
very true edd add to the fact he is not worth it with the baggage and wages that will come with him but it is a buyers market and even thou city could buy the finished article for less money i am pretty sure they need to reinforce there english quota for europe which might bump the price up ,could be wrong?
franky

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - they could just look elsewhere by then, Redmond would do the same, Demarai Gray too. They have looked at both.}

12 Jun 2015 07:25:23
I think we should 100% sell the lad.

He doesn't want to be here, it's the right thing to do. Get the best price possible and move on.

Still think we get more that £8m in Jan though :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - when his career is in nosedive, you expect his value not to nosedive too?}

12 Jun 2015 07:25:23

He points to the more recent cases of Brazilian midfielder Matuzalem’s protracted transfer from Shakhtar Donetsk to Real Zaragoza and goalkeeper Morgan De Sanctis’s abrupt departure from Udinese to join Sevilla, both in the summer of 2007.

"In those cases compensation wasn’t a calculation of the remaining proportion of the wages that should be covered, it was of the actual harm the club suffered," Geey adds. "In the case of De Sanctis it was the replacement cost for Udinese to buy a goalkeeper of similar standing, and in the end the cost of two was included in the calculation."

Ed's is this true? if so, surely it won't be so bad and we should not be so desparate to sell?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - The Liverpool fans significantly over-price their players. I am not sure what the going price is for a naïve twenty year old winger who is still developing and has yet to hone his end product.}

12 Jun 2015 10:25:26
We over value players? He did come in 3rd expensive player in a recent survey didn't he? Something like £60m I know that's over valued but surely we'd get much more than £8m

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - in a recent survey? Oh please, have you listened to yourself? This is getting more idiotic by the day.}

12 Jun 2015 11:52:02
Surely just a matter of time so until the club's agree a common ground on the fee and this one goes through ed??. think the club and raheems agent have absolutely handled this shockingly. the kid is a super footballer and we are definitely missing a trick on this one in my opinion.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - considering how little interest there is in him from elsewhere, it would be a surprise if a deal was not agreed in time.}

12 Jun 2015 13:56:24
Personally I'd settle for £30m upfront plus £5-10m add on for Man City winning League Title and/or CL within 2 years.

I think that is fair (actually I think it would be a right result) as I totally agree with Ed002'S assessment of his current abilities. I actually think we would be getting a £10-15m bump in his true value, because he is English.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Jun 2015 21:44:45
Apparently tonight City have offered 25 million for Sterling with a further 5 million in add ons.

I think we can get more than that for him.

Believable8 Unbelievable0

12 Jun 2015 00:40:36
Id take that now. Get him out and over and done with. Use that money for montoy or clyne and kovacic

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Jun 2015 05:47:34
£25m? What do you think they're smoking over there at Etihad?

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Jun 2015 06:48:52
No city will be back don't worry we will squeeze 35, 40 mill out of them and then we should take the money and run.

Agree1 Disagree0

11 Jun 2015 21:38:40
Hi eds have we rejected a 30 million bid for Sterling from Man City tonight?

Believable4 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I don't know if the bid was rejected, but it was made a couple of days ago.}

11 Jun 2015 23:28:58
Don't no if was rejected Ed? There not considering though right?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I really don't know.}

11 Jun 2015 23:38:37
Eds curious question for you, but what happens when a bid is made for a player? Especially if he is a high profile player like raheem?

Who makes the final call valuations and accepting bids? Also do they have meetings when a bid is made and how long do they usually wait before responding?

And lastly what's your feelings on whether raheem will stay or go this summer?

Thanks in.advance eds and sorry in advance if I have annoyed you

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Firstly, Sterling is neither high profile nor special. Clubs set an expectation of an acceptable value and then will consider bids for players. This will in the case of Liverpool involve the likes of the transfer committee. In other clubs it will involve other people - but typically a manager would be asked about players to be sold before the end of the season.

Whether he stays or not, Liverpool should get him out for as much as possible as soon as possible.}

12 Jun 2015 02:15:01
Firstly, I didn't say he was special.

He is high profile. Maybe not in quality of player but this is a very high profile situation. It will be in all the newspapers, any media and you will have quite a lot of posts to deal with.

It doesn't compare with say a loan offer for wisdom.

That's why I wanted to know how the club to about it with this type of situation? Will Brendan get a say? Who negotiates?

And he will go 110% or the club can sell him for 6 mil in Jan or face the Webster rUllinG.

Thanks ed

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Jun 2015 03:16:20
I could predict Ed002's first sentence before it was even said :D

The way the situation has been handled, along with media expectations has made it high profile. The player himself is not at that level yet. I just hope when he does leave it doesn't come back to haunt us.

11 Jun 2015 21:17:22
Eds any chance of us going for micha Richards? I see today that he is close to going villa!
He is better than anything we have in that position and free transfer and i'm not certain but I'm sure he wouldn't comand a huge weekly wage!

Believable2 Unbelievable12

{Ed001's Note - he is crap, is asking for big wages, is lazy, doesn't turn up for training and when he does is 'last on to the pitches and first into the changing rooms' to quote his former boss and has a real attitude problem. We have absolutely no interest.}

11 Jun 2015 22:32:25
well you can't be more clearer than that.
He had so much promise when he took Gary Nevilles place in England

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Jun 2015 23:19:15
How many games did he play when taking that place. He's garbage

Worse than GJ. I know, YIKES!!

12 Jun 2015 08:51:11
When he was younger, before his injury etc he did look like a really good player IMO but since, no thanks

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Jun 2015 14:24:17
My mates bro was on the books of City and his dad told me stories of him,onohua and Ismail Miller being terrible at training and not even doing technical drills.
Shame really cause he has the natural ability and when he came through at City he looked a future world beater.

11 Jun 2015 17:16:22
Do we have any interest in Jackson Martinez.
I've heard AC Milan and another European club are close to signing him

Believable2 Unbelievable3

{Ed001's Note - no.}

11 Jun 2015 18:12:00
Most rumours point to his only potential UK destination being Arsenal based on a comment he made about them (forget exactly what it was, but basically singling them out as an English team he would like to play for)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Arsenal are certainly interested.}

11 Jun 2015 16:44:54
Hi Eds. I remember Carra suggesting last season that Ross Barkley would be a perfect signing to replace Gerrard. Has there been any interest?

Cheers

Believable1 Unbelievable7

{Ed001's Note - no.}

12 Jun 2015 08:51:55
love Carra for what he did for club but i think he talks nonsense sometimes. Barkley is highly overated

11 Jun 2015 16:04:15
Hi Ed001, you're amazing! As of today, is their any chance you know who (whom we all want gone) could still head for the exit door?

Believable4 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - Mario? If we can get a buyer yes..... Just kidding, it is looking less and less likely that there will be any change there. FSG are still keeping very tightlipped, but each day that passes makes it less likely.}

11 Jun 2015 18:13:43
Hi ed001, do you think the owners are aware that the majority of the fans would like to see Brendan gone. Also what do you think their reasons for keeping him would be.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - The owners have used a Hartford based company to gather data and report on social media, internet, media views on the club and players. They will know the views of the fans. They certainly won't act on that basis.}

11 Jun 2015 19:32:25
Apart from Paul Tomkins that is, lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Jun 2015 08:54:00
Dont you think to some degree they should act on behalf of majority of fans? To some extent they should i think. Without supporters etc, forget your club altogether

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Of course not.}

11 Jun 2015 09:45:09
Ed2 morning, hope your well buddy. Two of Portugals top papers are saying Markovic could be going back to Benfica. Is this a non starter?possibly on loan? If true, would mean you were right, when you said chelsea wanted him to stay for a year.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - Chelsea's plan was to see him stay at Benfica getting good experience and regular football with a view to taking him this summer. Liverpool paid such a high price I understand that it will have been a surprise not to see him as a regular. Tough to see any plan moving forward.}

11 Jun 2015 10:50:19
I hope he stays to get a real run at LW or at left attacking mid in a 4-2-3-1, and Sterling moves on to fund the purchase of a top striker to back up Sturridge.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Jun 2015 11:54:17
He needs to get game time and will develop. Between all our midfielders its difficult to see how it will work out though.

Shame really as for me was never really played in his best position. Always taken off when others were poor. Must of knocked the guys confidence aswell.

11 Jun 2015 11:46:42
Word on the street round Liverpool Ed is that he is REALLY homesick and wants to go home badly and will take a massive wage cut to do so. Hasn't settled at all here someone was saying Mario has caused more trouble than anything to the young lads he was the same at City too throwing darts at the young players permanently fined for being late and missing training not to mention the amount of effort he trains with is a joke all round add in faking injuries i have no idea how LFC can ask for a fee for either player! Markovic is terrible at best 20 million is laughable! Mario is Mario and should be banned from melwood till he finds a new club!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - The people on the streets of Liverpool think he is Portuguese?}

11 Jun 2015 14:01:47
What you mean Ed002 is we bought a player prematurely, didn'play him often enough and when we did it was invariably in the wrong position and have probably set his (very promising) career back 2 years. Does Brendon have no consciene about these players he wrecks?

Apparently not.

We'll be lucky to break-even on any deal when he leaves (which he will and who can blme him)

Agree0 Disagree0

11 jun 2015 18:50:19
it is the same as coutinho at milan. under used. the problem wwith liverpool is they do not have patience with players. for god sake markovic played very well against real madrid. give players time to play and adapt. we need a manager who gives players time to play. question to brendan when buying any player:
do we actually need to buy this player?
will this player improve the team? if so in what way?
how much playing time do u think u will give the player?
is there any youth who could play in that position?
are we going to get value for money with this player?
if it was your own money would u pay that much?

11 Jun 2015 09:39:24
Another pointless signing

Agree2 Disagree1

11 Jun 2015 09:40:56
I do wish the tactic had been to bring in a GK who could seriously challenge Migs for the No1 jersey, but maybe he did enough in the second half of last season to deserve more confidence in him.

Also, given relatively limited transfer funds, I can't argue with Bogdan on a free to replace Jones. A solid keeper, who always seemed to play well against us, if memory serves!

Welcome to Liverpool, Adam!

11 Jun 2015 10:44:52
Thank you, although I was told I would be working with Klopp.

11 Jun 2015 15:21:19
Poor signing. Mingo can sleep easy thru out next season knowing his competition is NO competition at all.

Agree0 Disagree1

11 Jun 2015 21:25:42
Everyone calling the Bogdan signing probably have never seen him play.Hes a more than capable understudy and won't let liverpool down if he plays,he's twice the keeper Brad Jones is

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I have seen him play many times and he is extremely average, at best. Certainly not a Premier League goalkeeper.}

11 Jun 2015 23:34:15
If Mingolet suffers an injury we will definitely fell the impact!

I'm not Mingolet's biggest fan, yes he is a good shot stopper, but as we all know his kicking and passing is atrocious . I can't believe that Rodgers who wants his teams to play out from the back, gets rid of someone like Pepe, plays Mingolet (who has the passing ability of a six year old), has no real competitive back up, and now the "committee" have decided that Bogdan will change things . I truly struggle to accept that decisions like these are supposedly made in an attempt to push the club forward?

11 Jun 2015 08:56:03
Hi eds are we pushing for a deal to sign Montoya from Barcelona?

Believable4 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - It seems far more viable to me than other options being mentioned.}

11 Jun 2015 17:05:05
Not seen enough of him to make a judgement. He's 24 though so you would think he's almost at his peak? Wondering does Ed001 have an opinion on the player, regardless of our current options?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - from what I have seen he is simply not that good.}

11 Jun 2015 17:06:58
Sorry I was meant to add to my above post, is there any progress on Manquillo's situation? Seems like he's just left in limbo

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - his loan deal was for 2 years but we are trying to get out of it. He put himself in limbo with a lack of application.}

11 Jun 2015 18:43:57
Thanks for the insight Ed001. I wasn't aware that Manquillo wasn't putting in the work. It's a shame because he's a better defender than our other options from from the few games he's had. Was way too predictable and poor in quality going forward though

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Jun 2015 22:19:17
Hey Eds,

Lots of talk about a right back coming in this Summer even though we're well stocked in that position.

Are we looking to bring in a left back though? We've no real cover for Moreno there (presuming Enrique is going)

Also, Alex Sandro, Porto left back. We were linked with him last year. Would we be interested or is he likely to move this summer.

Believable1 Unbelievable3

{Ed001's Note - the only one I know of is Garbutt.}

11 Jun 2015 08:28:34
Enrique has one year left on his contract as I recall. Given his age and lack of any real play time in ages I can't see anyone being very interested in him.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Jun 2015 10:48:40
If they sign Montoya then he can cover LB if Moreno struggles/gets injured and Wisdom/Manquillo can play RB.

Looking back at some of the early season games, I still think Manquillo shows real potential, he's just more defensive than attack minded. Ultimately Flanno will hopefully get fit again too.

I hope they only go for one signing that's flexible enough to play either side.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Jun 2015 13:12:56
Hey ed - do you think he would choose us? I have never watched him play, but like what I hear in scout reports - and it will be pretty much in the face of MU if he turns out to be on par with 30 ml Luke Shaw (I like Shaw, but 30 ml? Ridiculous.)
My chief worry is that even if he comes here, we will not develop him properly. He would need to receive a chance, especially with Moreno being somewhat shaky defensively - or are we playing Lallana on LB this season?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I have no idea mate, you would need to ask him, it is a personal decision he has to make now.}

11 Jun 2015 13:25:09
If we are properly looking for a new LB would love to see us go for Andy Robertson from hull. Looks like a real star in the making i think. don't see LB as a priority though
