Love this site, one of the few I visit everyday. However, it's a pain having to sift through many ridiculous "rumours". So, although this isn't a rumour, please EDs post in the Rumours section.

John Henry has been crystal clear about the transfer policy. Just Google John Henry Liverpool Transfer Policy. Read and remember - this is the guy who writes the cheques.

In summary - no short-term fixes, buy younger players who could lead to a higher re-sale value...and don't overpay. Simples

This counts out most older players and paying too much for younger players who happen to have had a good year. So all these rumours about buying older players are utter rubbish, unless they play in positions that provide value at older ages (goalkeepers?).

I have no inside knowledge at all but I wonder whether we paid too much for some of the new intake who were coming off a stellar year? And maybe that's what cost Comolli his job? Only saying...

The most sensible policy is to find good young talented players who didn't produce last year and are therefore cheap. Kind of like Carroll, Henderson, Downing THIS year! Of course, this assumes we have the coaches to bring them on.

...only saying
RedDolphin

Downing was 27 a month or so after we signed him for 20m. Not young, no resale value, same with Adam. Shame they didn't enforce their stringent policy on us last year.

Did you all know that the net spend last year was only about £23m (telegraph)? Dalglish may have paid a lot for certain players, but 23m net spend isn't a lot considering we have talents such as Henderson, Carroll, Suarez and Coates that will be important for years.

And I think this is the most important thing, it doesn't matter if the player cost 100m, if the overall net spend is relatively low then its fine.

Ty for giving us info we already know.

It seems a weird transfer policy to me; to buy players "who didn't produce last year" with the risk they will turn it on with us.
Maybe it's just me

Firstly, much of what has been said is hearsay and not worth the pen that wrote it...for the younger people here a pen used to be an implement for writing in the good old days! Secondly, there seems to be a gross misunderstanding of how 'moneyball' strategy works and therefore what FSG's actual strategy is. It is not always age dependent as it is a simple algorithm to ascertain cost-benefit player-statistics.
Finally - and this is my personal feeling - if FSG attempt to utilise a 'moneyball' strategy in what the rest of the world calls football they will soon find out that the cost-benefit analysis of player statistics are not transferable in football as they are in baseball.

We payed a combined total of 85 million for them 3 players,hardly off the radar lid

So your policy is if a young player is crap buy him quick lol

Not just you, if they did not perform last year how do we know they can "perform" at all?
If they have just had a goos season at least you known what they are capable of and it is up to the manager/coaches to get the best out of them.

I was reading your post when I came across the word "Simples". At which point I stopped.

It seems like last year's transfer policy was a matter of "you think this will work, let's try it"--i.e. let's spend a bunch of money on overpriced locals and see what happens. We all saw what happened. There seems to be an attitude in European football that the old rules cannot be broken--players have to have that special "something" in order to succeed. This was the same attitude in american baseball and american football. We've seen since that role playing, statistics, and tactical awareness usually (and I'll emphasize usually) trump mystical ability and good old-fashioned know-how.

Now, as Red Dolphin says, the moneyball policy will take hold. It will take time but this strategy can succeed. {Ed002's Note - Statistical analysis of football players is nothing new and several clubs have used it to a certain extent. However there remain many variables in the game which means it is less suitable than such sports as cricket and baseball - and moneyball is specific to baseball.}

We all know his supposed transfer policy. However 35million on Carroll was not cheap. Even if he became world class would he ever be worth much more than that. Come on Aguero was world class and went for about the same. The policy is buy english and get ripped off

few reports eds that liverpool officials are over in italy trying to finalise a deal for gaston can any of the eds confirm this?
cheers
the freshmaker {Ed022's Note - It's untrue, simple as that.}

11 May 2012 23:02:22
Well Eds get ready for the influx of Ramirez rumours. Twitter has said we are signing him for 18.7 mill. So quite clearly it's true!! Sad that it all entertains me {Ed022's Note - This has been the 4th time this rumour has come about. People never learn.}

Last week we had him signed for £16.3million. That's inflation for you!

11 May 2012 22:27:27
£40mil transfer budget with Llorente & Lewandowski main striker options.
Llorente is hard to replace with another basque player so will be tough to prise him from club.
Lewandowski is the main target, he scores all sorts of goals and @ 23 is perfect age for FSG. Main problem is Chelski as replacement for drogba is required.

Funny that. We offered £35mil for Llorente last January. We won't get them for that price.

Don't Chelsea already have a replacement for Drogba ready to go in Lukaku? Big, strong, quick, good header of the ball and good finisher?

Seems like a replacement for Drogba to me.

I relly hope carroll is used more next year but we do need more back up in that area right winger creative midfielder

11 May 2012 21:11:45
Alright Eds, just seen on Football Gossip that we're linked with Ola John from Twente, with them going on to say a Dutch newspaper has reported De Jong is staying up for another season, is there any truth in this or is it simply the same conjecture we've come to see from the likes of CaughtOffside? Cheers! {Ed022's Note - Most likely garbage.}

11 May 2012 21:22:58
Eds, just would like to know what you actually think about Gaston Ramirez?
Do you rate him? Do you think he would be a great buy?
Personally I think he isn't that good and wouldn't be the SPECIAL, CREATIVE player we all wish for.
I'd prefer Younes Belhanda.
What's your thoughts Eds? Thanks in advance...
Philip {Ed022's Note - Oh you've asked the right Ed here! www.player-profiles.co.uk - check out the profile on him and a full evaluation of him as a player is given at the end.}

Yeaaah.....BELHANDA !

11 May 2012 22:00:25
I know its wikipedia and i know its unreliable, but their has been al lot on Rasmus Elm's page about a move to Liverpool. Ive watched Elm for 4 years now and I personally like him, it beats playing Spearing centre mid for the FA CUP final!
Ed on a scale of 1 - 10 , (10 being certain) do you think we will get him?
{Ed026's Note - There is a decent chance but according to Wiki I am married to Angelina Jolie.}

Me too ed!! can't believe she's cheating on me with you!

;)

You sure are ed, you sure are;)

Is that you brad?
jg

Hey ed ed instead of transfer rumors are there any adoption rumors where r u currently scouting from ....:D

11 May 2012 21:00:38
Has anyone else thought that if Kenny steers us forward for another years progress we could then look to Pep as a permanent replacement to finish the liverbirds rise from the ashes.
Pep gets a year out to come back refreshed and Kenny gets time to restore us to somewhere near where he left off all those years ago and hopefully hand over as a winner again, bringing champions league football back after a 3 year absence into the bargain.
Hopefully a perfect solution for everyone.
ALB. {Ed026's Note - A new manager comes with new ideas, new players in mind, new systems etc. If Kenny gets another year and shows progress then it would make more sense to keep him in the role whilst blooding a number two who can carry on in the same manner (if that manner has been a success). A return to the boot-room. But that is just my opinion.}

Dalglish is the right man to take us forward

Pep is taking a year out as Man Utd have lined him up to take over from red nose fergie after next season.

Hi eds, I' m not normally one to spread rumours but my best friends cousins ex wifes gardener is friends with the wife of the head groundsman at Anfield who swears that Messi, Ronaldo and Yaya Toure are currently undergoing medicals at Melwood. Just passing it on so don't shoot the messenger

T*sser {Ed022's Note - Now now...}

Mate u just ruined it by saying yaya toure!

I've heard this too. It's definitely going to happen.

Classic hehehe... I'd be 'hedging' my bets on those 'tree' comin.... grass isn't greener.... need to 'cut back' on a few other players before 'branchin' out on those.... etc etc...

Whats your point tho??

Haha so funnny ... not

^^^^^^
All human life is here.......

Anyone else getting a bit bored of this joke?

What a comedian...really?really?...really?so you think your`e funny huh??I don`t...just wasting my time having read your childish dribble..go do something constructive you ninken poop!!

Is it the same guy who writes this same attempt at being funny every day or what?
About as funny as a fart in an elevator!

Doesn't 'ninken poop' play for p.s.v

We are trying to buy Michael Dawson off Tottenham.

Ted Twoizacarnt

He would be a great signing

Unless ya talking 5m or less why bother he's good yes but no better than wat we've got an he wouldn't come cheap I do like him but he would want 80k a week

Hope not he's decent but we need to be looking at the long term skrtel and agger look great Coates is improving an carra is still a good defender wisdom should go out on loan see how he progresses and improve the team in areas that are more important right now like everywhere else

It's all in the name, eh 'Ted'? ;)

I'd rather Les Dawson !

11 May 2012 20:52:08
Hi Ed. We are going to sign Adam Johnson on loan next season FACT {Ed022's Note - Thank you for informing us.}

No 14m the deal is

To buy maybe, loan never

11 May 2012 20:50:08
hi eds , camolli said before he left that we would only be buying a couple of players just to tweek the squad , so i take this to mean 1 or 2 players at the most , with us being linked to many players , how many do you reackon we will actualey sign , thanks eds ,lets the fun begin in the next few months ,,,,,,,,,,mickey b {Ed022's Note - I personally think around 4.}

I hope we sign 4

11 May 2012 20:44:42
Hearing very strong rumours of Rafa returning next Monday ?:O
Not for me am afraid!
Leftieldy

No chance
Kenny is staying

Im hearing very strong rumours that your rumour is absolute BS!

Kenny dof rafa coach dream team

11 May 2012 20:21:20
Ed, My aunt who lives in Madrid has told me that Real are very interested in Glen Johnson? Any truth in this? {Ed026's Note - do you doubt the word of your aunt?!}

Nice answer ed

Thee aunt told you!? Get down to the bookies lads, this one is nailed on!

Ive heard this as well but think they will go for richards

The story was run on sky sports but they also said the same about walker and richerds maybe they have a thing for english rb. tbh they should focus on a cb an put ramos back into his right place

11 May 2012 20:15:19
I may be wrong but the general consensus with the players is he will get one more season..

Maybe there isn't a suitable candidate available..

Lets wait and see..

Cheers

Macca {Ed026's Note - Thanks, Macca}

Thanks for the update Macca. The question is do the players have any more idea about what is going on in John Henry's mind than we do, and I suspect the answer is no. The recent restructuring of the staff (Ian Cotton went to day) suggests that 18 months after buying the club they are in no mood to pussyfoot around, and I wouldn't be surprised to see KK moving on very shortly. -SH-

Whenever Macca says "Maybe there isn't a suitable candidate available.." is he being a little bit cryptic?

Can we expect a big name manager joining in a year's time?

Cheers Macca
I wonder if another year would be perfect for everyone. The owners give Kenny every chance to take us to the next level and whether we make it or not then Kenny would step aside for someone like Guardiola anyway if the owners kept working on him during his time away from the game.

Cheers macca for the info. I personally am suprised that the players would know either way as i am not sure even kenny knows if he is staying or going

Macca,

Do you know if they have even looked? I hate being a doom sayer...but I personally don't think he is the right man for the job, I respect him immensely on so many levels, but Im sure the draw of Liverpool should be able to get us a current, successful manager

Cheers

Ray

Alright Macca,
Respect for sticking your neck out time and time again. Can you rule a Benitez return out based on what you know? I think it would be a suicide mission personally, he would need to win the league or CL in his first season back to quell the massive criticism of his re-appointment but it's not like the league or CL is getting any easier. I would love to see Rafa return one day but I think right now would be a bad bad move for him.

Fair point.. -SH-

Cheers

Macca {Ed022's Note - This is the real Macca.}

Macca I am convinced you are a player how do you know team line ups it's not like as soon as the team is put out they would send a text to everyone they know plus you never post during games or around match time if I had to guess and people will think I'm crazy you are gerrard or maybe carragher {Ed022's Note - Who knows....}

I think macca is Andy Carroll {Ed003's Note - nope}

I think macca is.....
steve mcmanaman or jason mcateer

By this i am seeing it that the players would like him to get another year , but nobody actually knows what JH will do.
GA

11 May 2012 19:41:00
heard reports liverpool may go in for scott sinclair any truth in this Ed's? i know he supports man u, but surely he couldnt turn us down?

Youthy {Ed022's Note - I doubt it mate.}

Why! I'd much rather get Adam Johnson

11 May 2012 19:29:10
i maybe looking too much into this but why is there no images of carragherwearing the new kit? yes he has been warming the bench alot this season but he is still a legend for liverpool. could this mean he might retire?

I would demote carra to fourth choice an retain his services for 1 more year until possibly wisdom is ready Wilson doesn't seem to be good enough that will give us time to scout some young talented players

I think he will retire after he hits the 7 century mark. however that wont be untill next season as he is at 698 i believe? my personal opinion atleast. it would give him 699 if he played against swans. {Ed026's Note - I think while he is still fit he will be around for at least another season.}

Fingers crossed eh !

Carra is staying on for one more season and that's a fact. I chat with him at least three times per week and then into coaching.........

I think he will be gradually phased out, a few games here and there, Moved into a coaching role
GA

I think he is going to celtic

11 May 2012 18:18:50
Ed's is there any chance on getting these players ....
Gaston Ramirez
Lucas Moura
Cristian Tello
Rasmus Elm

Thanks {Ed022's Note - Ramirez yes, Moura no way in hell, Tello very unlikely, Elm yes.}

I would love ramires/de Jong/Moses

11 May 2012 17:40:50
Hearing around that we're interested in Mohammed Diame, any truth in this Ed's? He'd be on a free as his contract runs out at the end of the season, would be a better back up than spearing I suppose and still only 24..

GLfc {Ed022's Note - No, but there is interested from several other clubs.}

Hes not much better than spearing plus shelvey an hendo r all bak up for gerrard Lucas an Adam plus if we're looking at signing elm or Ramirez or both we don't need diame unless we get rid of spearing. If we can sell spearing for 3-4m an get diame for free on similar wages then that's good business which would make sense. Kevo

Diame is going to everton

Mate, personally, I feel spearing is a great squad member for the club. filling in when needed. I feel his composure and passing have improved a lot this season. Having said that, he is not near the player Diame is. Perhaps, as i'm sure some of the eds know, that's confirmed by clubs like Sevilla, Spurs, Malaga and Marseille having shown interest in Diame recently.

james - ynwa

11 May 2012 16:46:03
Any lfc interest in lazar markovic? And all i can say about the new lfc kit is wow and will lfc be wearing it against swansea? {Ed022's Note - No they won't be, and I am not aware of any interest in him.}

11 May 2012 16:45:16
is the Mohamed Diame to lfc done deal rumour true eds? {Ed022's Note - No.}

Why bother signing diame he's no better than spearing shelvey or Henderson an there already back up to gerrard Adam an Lucas if we're goin after a centre mid we need to be lookin at better than that like sigurdsson who would be quite cheap 6m aprox

Phew, i read it on lfc official forum and was hoping it wasnt. cheers

Descent player snap him up kenny

11 May 2012 17:12:14
Eds, are Liverpool getting Diame on a free? {Ed002's Note - There are plenty of clubs showing an interest.}

He'd be great competition with Lucas.

Stone YNWA.

Unless we can sell spearing its a waste of money if spearing leaves then he would be a worth while signing Kevo

11 May 2012 17:11:58
EDS, do you think xabi alonso will be coming back. he is one of real madrid best players. all the offenive play comes through him, but would he love to return to the club where he won the champions league,fa cup and then again reached the champions league final with. macca did say he would love to return to liverpool

{Ed002's Note - I doubt it this year.}

You said that last year an that it could happen this summer? {Ed022's Note - Yes, it could, but it could also happen next year.}

Won't happen mate

11 May 2012 16:56:32
Ian Ayre to leave his position as MD with immediate effect. This will be announced on Monday. FSG unhappy with the way the Suarez affair was dealt with, this is also why Ian Cotton is leaving too. David Dein set to be appointed. This is why Dein has been spending a lot of time with the board members over the past couple of months, forming a working relationship and knowing exactly the current situation Liverpool are currently working to and what needs to be done to steer the club forward. Ayre has known of his fate for quite some time and accepted some form of responsibility for the lack of leadership and response through the situation whilst the American owners were in America. Ayre is highly regarded amongst the Liverpool board however, and may retain a position within the hierarchy of the club. A possibility of working on the commercial aspects of the club where he was most effective for the club remains a possible role.

Werner said more than a month ago that Ayre "had an important role in commercial activities" - or words to that effect. It was clear he was being demoted.

He was brilliant as Commercial Director under the previous owners, it'd be a shame to remove him completely. Maybe the promotion to Chief Exec was too much to soon for him.

Thats some way to treat a man who helped save the club from administration and put hicks and wicks out on their ears

11 May 2012 16:25:51
Ed002 do you know think kenny will stay after what macca has said? {Ed002's Note - I really don't know. As I have said there will be much to discuss but there has to be a very real chance he won't see out his contract. No doubt someone will want to make some big deal of this.}

Ed how do you mean see out his contract, he has one more left doesn't he? {Ed022's Note - Two more isn't it?}

Liverpool need to change manager ,fact

I think its a bit harsh to want rid of kenny. we have played some good football this season but been very unlucky with our finishing. all we need is a creative midfielder and another top class forward then hopefully we will convert our chances. though saying that, perhaps some fresh ideas are needed.....who knows

11 May 2012 16:24:29
Reina
Johnson/kelly skrtel agger enrique
lucas
Ramirez/muniain downing/ramirez
Suarez
Carroll soldado

Personally would be happy with this team next season with only 2 buys -soldado and either ramirez or muniain. Could also play suarez at LAM imo with ramirez RAM with lucas and gerrard in centre. Before this month would have played 433 with carroll missing out but he has showed what may come last couple of games.

Where's Gerrard

You think we shud play with on cm 2 wingers and 3 strikers? well yeah that would sort are scoring out, but then we'd be conceding quite a few aswell...

Glad your not the lfc manager

Except enrique, awful left back- cost us 7 goals this year and will do next. {Ed022's Note - Pretty sure you weren't saying this at the start of the season.}

No, yr right ed. but that was more out of hope than having seen him regularly at newcastle.

11 May 2012 16:20:08
I might be wrong but i think the handling of the suarez affair might have sealed Ian cottons fate.Even the club admitted it could have been dealt with better press releases and all that stuff.

gee man {Ed026's Note - You may well be right}

11 May 2012 15:49:38
Everyone needs to chill on the amount we have for transfers.

None of these people predicted us spending what we did last summer.

Id personally say that we would have between £20-£30 mil to spend plus player sales.

LAVERS

Lavers - take your advice mate, chill...

The owners do not have a so called budget. Dalglish can spend as much as he likes providing that he can convince the owners he is buying quality.

The main theme would be getting rid of some high earners ie Maxi, Kuyt, Cole, Aquilani, Aurelio, Doni. And buy players who wouldn't cost as much in wage terms such as Luuk De Jong and Elm.

£20 - £30m will be fine as long as KD makes the right choices on who to bring in. There's not a massive amount of point in us having more than that, the Cavanis and Hazards and Neymars will want CL anyway...I think three players could make the world of difference to our current squad, i'd pick M Suarez, Luuk De Jong and Xabi Alonso

30m
Adam Johnson 14m
Clint Dempsey 10m + Aurellio and Maxi
Grant Hanley 3m

How many times ? WE DO NOT HAVE A SET BUDGET !!

Every site you look at it seems there's a list of 7 players that are getting repeated over an over with a move to anfield. de Jong/elm/Suarez/Ramires/belhanda/Moses/a.johnson whether or not there accurate these are the most frequently mentioned players an thers no smoke without fire {Ed022's Note - Smoke machines spring to mind.}

MASSIVE SOMKE MACHINES....ALTHOUGH I WOULD WELCOME ADAM JOHNSON

11 May 2012 15:20:43
I believe and please do not shoot the messenger that Kenny will get another season...

Cheers

Macca {Ed026's Note - the real Macca}

Great news!

The much-maligned signings of last summer appear to be slowly but surely winning over those with no patience or wit to realise that some players, especially younger ones, may take time and have not learned their lesson from the Lucas slagging.

A new manager= more new players to bed in= more time & money wasted when we have a goo man at the healm already. I'll say it again- our football was good this year, it just needed an end product.

Roll on next season!

Mrpjd

Thanks for the info Macca, as usual. It's good of you to share your info with us, even if it's not always the news we want to hear. I'll be glad if KD gets another season

Super

Assuming what you say is correct, all the fans should now get behind the team and wlecome any new signings into Anfield. There will be some happy that Kenny stays and some gutted. However, we can't see what the future holds, so even if we did take the Chelsea route and keep appointing new managers we could just as well be in the same situation at the start of every season. Lets see where we are this time next year I say. Thanks, GP29.

For me this would be the highlight of my summer if true. Ocuinn

Ok thanks for this info Macca.
I think you are a really reliable source.
Do you know anything about the transfer budget? How much money Kenny will get to spend?

Thank you Macca.

And for the progress of the team lately, I'm sure we will achieve something next season. Preferably another cup and champions league place.

Yes! Glad that the owners see sense. Any news on any new signings please, Macca? Singred

What!?!? What are the owners thinking. {Ed026's Note - Probably that there is no quick fix and that one step forward two steps back solves little.}

I wont shoot the messenger as my messenger was sky sports news

Thanks Macca, just what I wanted to hear, think he deserves a chance to put right what went wrong this season! I believe we are 2/3 players away from a decent team!

Keith

As he deserves. Hope this is right the club needs stability and to show a willingness to back it's managers
TSB

I don't quite get this. I don't have a problem sticking with Kenny, but with the owners not wanting him in the first place full time, surely finishing so far off the top 4 is the perfect excuse for them to find a new man?

I'm guessing this means a shallow war-chest? Why would owners trust Kenny with more money?

Gav the Red

Would be happy with that. But we need someone else overseeing transfers.

Kenny deserves the time to improve the team a bit more. Brilliant news and shows respect to a legend. YNWA

This is the news I was waiting to hear.

Forget all the transfer signings. This is the biggest one of next season.

RobbehLFC.

Makes sense. This sees out his contract, if I am not mistaken, and gives us time to find the right long-term successor.

A few tweaks here and there in the team and we can have a decent campaign.
Come on redmen.

Long live the king

Thanks for the info mate ! pls give us some news about our targeted players for the summer .

collins

I'm pleased to hear this. I'd fear what might happen to the development of players like Shelvey, Carroll and Henderson if we brought in a new manager with their own ideas, who might not feel as compelled as KK to help their developments.

DP

The best signing of the season. Thanks macca.

mgz

Well that means another transfer window getting average over rated players.... N wel most likely end up 11th next season =( {Ed026's Note - I agree, let's start knocking the future signings before they arrive, show them the great support we are famous for.}

Let's hope this is true.

Anyone who believes Dalglish hasn't earnt some loyalty is an idiot.

Sigh well cheers for the info although I hope your m8
TheJoshster

I'm not going to knock the future signings but I disagree that dismissing him is 2 steps backwards. anyone who watches the Liverpool games, can see that Kenny is not the right man for the job. The players he has signed are below par. I'm sorry but Carroll's 2 decent games is nothing to get excited about yet. Henderson, adam and Downing are highly unlikely to be the players to take us back to CL. I will support the team but i won't be blind to something that is clearly not working. His tactics and substitutions are not up to scratch and its clear his transfer policy is not either. I hope i'm wrong but the truth is, with this current crop of players and the current manager, we will never get top4 next year. Make all the excuses you want for Kenny and the players, but after that much expenditure, this was a MINIMUM expectation. {Ed026's Note - I don't think it was a realistic minimum expectation. City, Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs all have a claim to top four because of their squad, experience and expenditure, six into four doesn't go. The players he has signed have not become poor overnight and need to be given time to show what they can do, it hasn't been good enough but if 25% of the chances Downing (for example) had created had been converted we would be full of praise for him. If the efforts that had struck the woodwork or been saved by a GK having the game of his life had gone in we would be looking down on the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea and Spurs. A lot of ifs, I know, but it hasn't been as bad as the stats suggest, there has only been a handful of games we haven't deserved more from, in my opinion at least, and of course you are welcome to yours. I will concede it is the finishing positions that count and we have not been good enough, but we have been 'nearly' good enough, and we have to back those players to come good, the alternative is to sell them at an incredible loss and start all over again. If Kenny makes a few tweaks for next season we will be pushing for the top six, five or four.}

There is indeed a very simple quick fix Ed026, bring back Rafa Benitez and return LFC to #1 in Europe, rather than 58th or whatever we are now. At 3-0 up after 80 minutes I still expect this team to fold. Never feared anyone under Rafa. Worst mistake LFC have made in my lifetime getting rid. {Ed026's Note - I rate Rafa very highly, but remember all the slating he took when he was in charge towards the end. Kenny deserves a bit longer imo}

Hmmmm could be a good or bad thing....if we can get a striker and winger that's top quality then his style of play might be able to work

If it's true then I'm made up mate.

Money couldn't buy a better man to be in charge of us right now.

Fergie will have even more to worry about now. I wonder what vile scandal he'll think up to try and derail us next year?

F**ckin love ya Kenny, time to start climbing back onto OUR perch again!

So another year of mid table obscurities may as well cancel sky sports

I believe he won't get another season... Don't shoot the messenger

Anyone, and I mean anyone, who thinks that this is anything other than brilliant news does not know what The Liverpool Way is. Instead of moaning on the internet, try getting to Anfield to support the team. Instead of playing FIFA12 all summer, go and do your homework on what it really means to be a Liverpool supporter and then come back.

Yeah... have told it yesterday but people really don't wanna believe what I said...

Cheers, Macca

Armando

In my opinion it's great news. The team has made great strides and with a little more composure/luck in front of goal we are definitely a top 4 side.

We don't need an overhaul and our Squad is as good a shape as it has been for years. A couple of minor adjustments (Attacking Midfielder/Winger and a Striker) then we are back to being a force.

Now let's get behind the team, the manager and anyone else associated to the club. Come on you red men

Macca, eds's,

First of all thanks for your efforts and news, very much appreciated!

Maybe this is me just adding 1 + 1 and getting 3, but do you think the owners want pep guardiola? I thought someone said they did, and he just quit barca, and wants to take a 1 year sabbatical. Would be perfect for KK to stay for one more year adding stability to the club and then for FSG to bring in pep guardiola.

Or am I just thinking too far ahead? KK did well in my opinion this season, with a little bit more luck we would be challenging for top 4..

Ed's and macca I would love your views on this!

JanBorman {Ed002's Note - No deal has been done with Guardiola.}

Why has it become a crime for supporters to question or criticise Kenny? To say a fan who doesnt want kenny in charge is uneducated in the liverpool way or to call them an person is ridiculous. I have the utmost respect for him but you clearly saw he wasnt good enough this season. Tactically to consistently play hendo on the right, and to give downing more games than maxi after his fine performances. Hitting the bar so often isnt unlucky, the finishing purely wasn't good enough. Any other manager who had bought downing, henderson, adam etc. for liverpool and finished 14 points off of 4th place would have been shown the door.

Yes that is great thanks macca
derryred

To the last poster: This shows how some of our supporters have become. Your statement "Any other manager who had bought Downing, Henderson, adam etc for Liverpool and finished 14 points off fourth place would have been shown the door." is way off the mark. The only time this would have happened is since Hodgson. Rafa, Houlier, Souness, were given lots of poor seasons and although Souness was worth an FA Cup they all had their own successes with some absolutely dire league finishes. If Houlier had been sacked in 1999 for finishing 7th and 25 points off the Mancs the would we have got the treble in 2001? We don't sack managers for one poor league season. Only Hodgson falls into this category as his reign spanned two different owners. I think this is great news from Macca.

Think that giving him another year would be good for the club. Hope, he'd be able to lay a great foundation for the future of the club. YNWA Trustme

We have paid over the odds for players but im still convinced those players will come good. We need a 20 goal a season striker that shud be no1 on the list. Kenny shud be given more time and more importantly more support from us fans. DIGGERBARNESNO10

I really hope Kenny stays
We're only a couple of players away from top 4

This is great news if it turns out to be true. So glad they haven't moved KK upstairs and got someone else in.

Rome wasn't built in a day.

Gaz1975.

Thanks! great news!! No manager on earth could want whats best for Liverpool football club more than Kenny,i feel proud to have this man as our manager & if we can win things with him... will be x10000000 better than your mourinhos benitezes guardiolas
Matt

Negative tactics, bring negative results, if any other manager had dropped 30 points at home this season, they would be getting sacked, so because his surname is Dalglish, he should be different? Rafa got sacked for finishing 7th, whilst having to deal with the cowboys, he went from being a coach, to wanting control over every aspect of the club, so that the cowboys didnt have control of anything, to protect LFC, he had to deal with fighting owners, and had to sell before he could buy. Rafa took us to two Champs Lge finals in three seasons, something that took Fergie over 20 years to do, Kenny doesnt have the experience of a manager who can take LFC to the best teams in Europe and get a result, his tactics are just to negative, he worries about other teams, instead of letting them worry about us, Kenny is also wasteful with money, Henderson, there was an interview where Kenny states he doesnt know what Jordans best posistion is, well considering hes a central mid, yet gets played on the right wing, Kenny should just have bought a right winger, now with regards to Downing, Kenny stated he didnt know how good he really was until he saw him in training? Seriously is this a joke? I understand ppl love Kenny, but if his name didnt end in Dalglish then fans would be calling for his head, and as Rafa would have said, this is FACT, nobody is bigger than the club, Kenny included. Kenny will never take LFC to Barca, Milan, Madrid and get a result, he wont even ever take us to a champions league final. Anyone who goes into a FA Cup final, with negative tactics, doesnt deserve to be our manager. And if FSG want to take LFC to the top then Kenny needs to go.

Fantastic news......kenny needs more time and he will deliver...he is a winner and always will be... YNWA Kenny

For those who think he will go for TOP 4, they are wrong....

Kenny has always maintained that the best place is top of the league....

He will aim for the league summit.....I sincerely hope he stays.....

LiverBird

Forgot to sign my post earlier (Rey). Ed026, i respect that completely. It may not have been a realistic expectation, however given the money we spent, you expect us to be fighting for CL rather than being close to 10th. I accept we are not Man City however we did spend 120m or so on players in 12 months and its clear very bad decisions were made. Henderson may be one for the future, but its one that has irked me. He had half a good season and we paid way over the odd, where i think we should have given Jonjo more chances. Downing should not have been looked at at that price whatsoever. Carroll showed great promise but the moment the price went over 20m, we should have walked away. When you consider that great players are being signed for similar or lower fees, its hurts all the more (Cisse, Ba, Mata, Cabaye...)

Someone above said something about the Liverpool way...I genuinely do not see what that has anything to do with this. The Liverpool way is to win things, we are currently far from winning anything and making ourselves a force. Its my opinion that whilst Kenny is a great ambassador for this club, he is not the right man to lead us forward.

Completely take on your point of woodwork too Ed. But for me, its not justification for our poor season. I simply don't think we've been good enough and for me alot of this blame lies with the manager.

I agree there's no point selling at a loss just yet (although Adam should probably go in my opinion) and we definitely need 3/4 players to freshen this squad. but i am concerned we end up signing players on a similar level to last year and failing all over again.

Rey {Ed022's Note - I can't seem to locate 026 at the minute for some weird reason, so I cannot comment, but can only give my opinion on the matter. I personally agree with 026, but things take time. Adam was never good enough, but as long as he wears that LiverBird I will always support him the best I can as long as he gives his all for that badge. If not, then I shalln't be impressed!}

This is what i'm talking about. ''This shows how some supporters have become''. Because some of us have different opinions, we get knocked. Just because some fans think Kenny isnt the right man for current job doesnt mean we arent loyal to the club. My opinion is based simply on the fact that FSG arent thinking long term with kenny and never have. Hes there to fill a gap. They want a young manager for the long term so unless the right man isnt available at the moment, i don't see any reason to give him another season. {Ed022's Note - I must say I understand your point.}

Think this is the right desicion. There's been times this year when I've questioned some of Kenny's desicions but I think in the main we've played good football and with a few addiditions and a seasons experience with this years signings we'll be a much improved side

Bilverstone
YNWA
JFT96

So there is a general consensus that kenny is getting a second chance which means he was unsuccessful in the first go. People got relieved with the news which again means there are valid reasons to consider that he shud/cud have been sacked. As a true lfc fan i do not mind whoever is managing or playing as long as the team performa well.

Another sub standard season next year then. i suppose if we finish 6th/7th that will be seen as progress by some blinded by loyalty to an ageing manager with dated philosophies, oh well, the decline will continue

Great news...YNWA Macca!

Great news, Kenny deserves it, with a bit of luck this season we would have finished a lot higher than we have he has got the team playing good football and with one or two players and some fine tuning and above all getting into the habit of hitting the net instead of the woodwork then we will do a lot better in the league next season, and for all the Rafa fans I respect what he done for us but if he is so good how come he is not still at Inter.

Fantastic

Kenny IS Liverpool. If FSG sacked the King their would be uproar on Merseyside. He is 100% us and all those who don't understand are not Liverpool supporters.
Long live the King, YNWA

Well if Kenny was so good, why isnt he still at Celtic or Newcastle, or why didnt he even had a job until Rafa brought him back?....

To the last poster: because Inter are run by Moriatti - probably one of, if not the most, interfering Chairman in football.

I'm not sure why so many people are jubilant about Kenny being our manager next season. I do not expect results to be vastly different. How many games did Kenny say that we were good, deserved to win, great performance, etc etc? And how many of those games did we actually win? Our league performance is nowhere near good enough and as many posters have said if his name wasn't Dalglish he wouldn't even be considered as any sort of solution for our club. There is no place for sentimentality at the very top. I love Fowler but he is not good enough for Liverpool these days. The same applies to Kenny Dalglish - I might like him, acknowledge his legendary status and appreciate everything he has done for our club but I am not blinded by sentimentality. My concern is not with individuals but the club itself. Unless the board cannot lure the target they want to the club there is no reason for sticking with Dalglish except for the banal, mindlessly loyalty which so many supporters are inflicted with.

SMc

p.s. bring on the wave on 'you're not a real fan'.. 'go support Chelsea' tripe - I'm a fan, I love and care for the club a great deal, that's why I want Kenny to leave, because I believe it is in the best interests of the club. {Ed026's Note - It has been painful at times but we are at the start of a new era, 18 months is nothing in the world of football. For every ounce of pain we feel I think you can safely times that tenfold for what Kenny feels. He lives and breathes Liverpool and that is why he should be allowed to finish the job he has started, but I see what you are saying. Imagine if Kenny does get things clicking, the chances that hit the post go in, the chances we create get scored, we start looking like challengers again, how great will it be if Kenny is the man at the helm? Or we could get rid now and bring in someone else and if they aren't top of the league in 18 months we can get rid and start again, and again, and again. It hurts but it will be worthwhile, have some faith and enjoy the ride :)}

Glad to hear it Macca cheers next season will be better and everyone else should just get behind The team whoever's in charge I didn't want hodgson but was still behind him because I'm LIVERPOOL and always will be no matter what so stop bitching and get behind whoevers in charge

Gutted if this is true people seem to forget we are liverpool we deserve much better than this.. With kenny im afraid to say we wont be getting in the top 4 think what you liie but this id fact... Who will he buy next then... Our signing of the summer will end up been d.bent or yakubu

Glad to see most of us want to see Kenny next season...club needs stability and Kenny deserves a change... cheers

Kenny should start next year as manager but if it takes the same shape as it did this year 'pear shaped . he should stand down all this bull about the players he signed needing more time is a load of tosh they came from the premiere did suarez need time no because he is world class the others are just mib tabled players not good enough n if he does sign anymore like that he deservs the sack especially at them prices then bring back rafa

Hi Eds do we hold any interest in nick powell and Max clayton ?
also just seen the everton site they truely are bitters especially Ed024 and 025. be ready for their bitterness if we finish above them they will say we spent 100 mill just for 7th and we do not they will be on bragging. {Ed026's Note - There has been interest, yes. Use the search function to read all about it. It will be nice for Everton to have something to brag about but they would swap positions for the little bit of silverware that Liverpool did win. You can't put 7th or 8th place in the trophy cabinet, but all things considered they will have done well to finish above the reds.}

Fenway Sports Group and Liverpool FC confirmed today that Director of Communications Ian Cotton will leave the Club on 13th May 2012 by mutual consent.

anything in this eds or just getting rid of dead weight? {Ed026's Note - I tried to find out but there is no-one in communications answering... I wouldn't read too much into this, FSG would have always wanted their own people in certain roles. They have waited and now feel they are ready for the changes they want to introduce}

Cheers ed

It's great to see the whole club getting a review and changes made I believe tw changes are part of a big picture that is designed to deliver success. It's important to do this rather than just spending on first team players. Thanks to all the guys and girls that are being let go for your efforts but looking to the future I feel good about the changes off the field

I heard stan collymoore have a go at this guy on the radio, said he was unaproachable and would blank him and other media guys, and that he was part of the whole media problem at liverpool.

Bring on the changes they are long overdue, and as I posted last week, wait for the 18th May Yozlfc

so thats another one gone

Well we started with 3 now 1 has gone... so... 3-1= errrmmm... i dunno you tell me?

Is this a maths exam?

I was told 5 years ago Liverpool will be bought by then NESV (now FSG), but they will take the case to court to make it more dramatic. I was also told Liverpool would ditch adidas for warrior.

This guy is a genius! What else do you know? Please fire it this way and preferably something we don't already know. By the way thanks for sharing your valuable information.

Yh sure u did kid...did it take u all those months to type it in haha

Kenny is certainly not going

Before christmas.. less than 6 months after all 3 were appointed and when things were going pretty well?

Macca:

A guy on twitter, FreddieBoswell7, who seems to have a good track record with his info, says that LFC have £15m before sales in the kitty. Do you share that opinion or is he off on this one? Depressing if true.

A guy on twitter. that says it all dude

With aname like that he is not to be trusted

Are you Freddie Boswell by any chance?!

Do u want us to follow u mr bosewell?

Net spend so far from fsg has only been 37 million and that with 3 transfer windows so that would sound about right.but remember kenny an commoli saying thier was no transfer kitty every transfer target is taken on face value!15mill plus the sale of glen johnson should get us adam johnson plus luuk de jong.
deano mcc

11 May 2012 13:45:58
eds do you think liverpool will try and do there transfer business early doors this summer instead of late on like most years? {Ed002's Note - They will be trying throughout but there is no idea when it will be completed.}

We'll be trying to get things done as early as possible as ever, it's in the selling clubs best interest to wait as long as possible though to try and get the best price for their player.

11 May 2012 13:36:14

11 May 2012 13:29:45
According to sources, Liverpool will launch an £8.5mil offer for Aston Villas Agbonlahor

I wouldn't read too much into it. Gabby is always starting rumours like this, bless him.

Tommy Walsh

I hope this is bull!

Wow. he can really stop our goal drought. he hasn't scored since about october.

Agbonlahor he is rubbish

Liverpool might as well sign me!, im the wrong side of 30, and havent kicked a ball in 3 years but i would be cheaper and have just as much chance of scoring as agbonlahor!

11 May 2012 13:28:24
I've heard from a friend, who claims that his dad is in the know, that Dalglish will resign on Monday with Benitez returning. Personally I don't see this happening as the owners should have been put off if they put any research into his time at Inter, plus it is known that Benitez was not happy not having full control over transfers last time around and that'll be the case for any new Liverpool manager. I in no way believe this rumour but just passing on what I heard.

R-LFC

Good reverse reverse phycology. I am sure you would want him to come back.
Hope he doesnt.

R-LFC is that you, Rafa? Singred

He could be dof and have the transfer power

I can assure you that I don't want Rafa back. I don't want a manager that ever thought it would be a good idea to replace Xabi Alonso with Gareth Barry.

R-LFC {Ed026's Note - We all make mistakes. Let's not forget who signed Alonso in the first place.}

Mascherano, Alonso Sissoko (before eye injury) Gerrard weren't bad were they? plus if the yanks had given him the cash we would have had Silva and Villa on our books! he has a good brain on him and don't let the london press indoctrinate you! He would be a great addition to the Club!

I can't tell you how much I wish that to be true, but I doubt it is. He should have been re-appointed immediately after the takeover and wasn't. And Alonso sucked in his penultimate season and I would've sold him. Also, it wasn't just that reason, it was to change our style of play and accomodate a right winger that Barry was decided on. Alonso was brilliant in his last season on has been since and good on him.

I'll admit I sort of have a love-hate opinion on Rafa. Over the years he did achieve some great results, especially in Europe. His tactics were great most of the time and I think he had huge respect for the club, which I appreciate. I'd say he was very hit and miss in the transfer market but when he did hit, they'd be world class i.e. Alonso, Torres, Reina, Mascherano ect. but you have to compare those to the likes of Voronin, Degen, Kromcamp and so on. Also, I'm sure no one will ever forget the "fact" rant and the effect it had.

R-LFC

Why would any business get rid
of an employee for 6m and then a
couple of months later take him
back on.......get real people he is
a bustered flush......ask inter
milan fans

Lets get this right, Rafa can only sign with what players are available and what budget is available.
So had not Benitez managed Liverpool we would never in a million years get Torres, Alonso, Mascherano, reina, etc and go up a level....and had Gillette and Hicks backed him, we would now have David Villa, Davis Silva, and Juan Mata, do you understand the team we would have had.........so with no budget, instead of building on our istanbul, athens we are the laughing stock of world football, to sell out best assets.
The Alonso sale was forced on Rafa as he had to sell to buy, and also at that time from nowhere man s**tty came in with silly money to nick Barry.
Yes i agree Barry is not in Alonso's class but he was in Rafa's sight with another of couple of signings to make Liverpool more versatile in playing style.

Rafa wipes the floor tactically with every coach going in Europe, and regardless of what manager and their multi million pound squads he is playing, he will still win.

WE BEAT EVERYONE in EPL & EUROPE UNDER BENITEZ, END OF FLIPPIN STORY, When one player gets injured we have a weakness to be exploited, which is why we finished 2nd or runners up in a cup.
All of Spain respect Rafa, he was the one who took the mick out of Barca and Real more than once as well.

Who is the best football team in the world = SPAIN, where does RAFA come from = SPAIN, and If Rafa came back, he would sign up all the best talent and take off again just like he did in 2005, only this time FSG will back him.

Now coming onto King Kenny, his way of playing cannot be in any doubt. Anyone who misjudges him on results, is clueless. I have seen every minute of every game this season, not highlights, and it doesn't who would have managed Liverpool , if you keep hitting the post and crossbar, then this is just plain bad luck and everyone is cheesed off.

Gerard used to bomb forward knowing if he lost the ball, Alonso, Mascherano or Hamman would win it back again, but with Adam and Lucas injured, we are screwed with Spearing on his own.

Apart from Spurs when we had no defence that day and Skrtel was suckered by Bale to getting sent off, we have beaten all the big teams, who want to actually come and play football. At Anfield everyone parks the bus so we either draw or get suckered on the break, but had that goal or goals come in the first 20 minuted instead of the woodwork, we are at the top of the League.

In a nutshell King Kenny can't be that unlucky again nest season, so back him all the way, and if we are in the same position next season, then get Rafa back.

Mick From the Kop

Absolutely spot on - thank goodness there are thoughtful fans who understand the situation still around. Rafa would have won the Premiership and the Champions League again if Moores and Parry had brought in responsible owners instead of the chancers they eventually sold out to.

Benitez went to Inter in the belief he was going to get a budget to build on the champions league winning squad.
Benitez was totally stitched up, when Inter Chief sold best players to cover Mourinho's huge debt. and some were injured.

Benitez must be thinking, he beats Mourinho and his multi millionaires, and Barca and real, and still gets treated like s**te.

Rafa is tactically brilliant against any coach out there, and regardless of who's in front of him, he still overcomes the biggest of hurdles.

In Kenny we trust, but just buy 2 great strikers who know where the net is, and get Carroll to get rid of his pony tail.

Then get Rafa back if it doesn't work out.

11 May 2012 12:52:10
hi Eds,

Was just wondering what the situation of hernanes from Lazio and Giovinco from parma. Will these be available to leave and could they be a possibility?
Thanks eds. {Ed002's Note - It was thought that there could be interest in Hernanes at the right price but Lazio quoted a figure above £20M which is why Juventus have been put off. Now it seems that he will stay another year in Rome. D’Amico talks a good story and interest in Giovinco from Chelsea and other clubs is being overplayed, but if he is made available by joint owners Juventus and Parma that may change. Wolfsburg and Roma have certainly shown some interest and Napoli have been impressed by his recent performances.}

Cheers mate

11 May 2012 13:00:17
Yo ed. With us being careful with the amount of money we throw around. Wouldnt the likes of Krasic be a perfect buy? How much do u reckon he would leave Juve for? I would be happy for us to sign any right winger at the moment haha. Shabba. {Ed026's Note - Not sure about perfect, a decent player who hasn't featured much at all this season.}

Why not part exchange him for aquilani

11 May 2012 13:20:22
Luis Enrique will be the next LFC manager. (no relation to Jose, whose last name is Enrique Diaz; Luis is Enrique Martinez Garcia).
Having played for both Barca and Real, he is used to the kind of sttacking style we are looking to play. Having been manager of Barca B, he has previous experience with some of the backroom staff (Rodolfo, scouts, etc).

In his mid-40's, he is also young enough to be a long-serving manager.

Enrique resigned as head coach of AS Roma this morning, and will be announced on monday.

Even though he's quit Roma because he's "worn out" and even though Roma have stated that "he won't be training anywhere next season"?

He's had a rough season at Roma, I do not think he would be the coach we are really after.

SMc

Roma have had a worse season than us. No thanks.

11 May 2012 13:09:01
Just been told off a famous football agent that Liverpool dealt a deal last night for Mohammed Diame of Wigan!! Could be a decent addition if u ask me.

Mpc

Yeah sure. Is it the same agent friend of your's who confirmed that we'll sign Darren Bent in January 2012? Nice I'm sure all LFC fans are gonna fall for this one as well. Get a life lad.

Woul be but i doubt its true

Or could it possibly be from the person who wrote it on the LFC TV Forum and have just recycled it?

To be fair, he is free and wouldn't be a bad back up for Lucas. Only 24 of I remember rightly too

Hey Eds,

Somit on the Sky sports page that has interested me, reads as follows:

Defoe has started just 11 games (on 11 goals) and he admits that he did ask for a move earlier this year, with Liverpool very strongly linked with his services.

Despite staying at White Hart Lane, Defoe admits that his attitude remains the same.

"I love the club (spurs). Everybody knows that. When I'm out and people ask whether I am leaving I always say no. But how can I stay somewhere that I don't get the chance to play?"

....................

Are we still interested in him? I know he would be expensive and he is approaching 30 years of age but he is still a great English Footballer.

What dya reckon? =D

Josh LFC {Ed002's Note - I don't know of any interest in Defoe.}

We can get better

Please let this be a lie

Please lfc dont buy him hes ageing and tbh pretty carp

Are we Actually Skint As a football Club or are the rumours a load of bull EDS.

Scouse Ben {Ed002's Note - I don't know what rumours you have seen Ben but Liverpool have owners who are taking care of the losses and trying to control spending to get the club in good shape goining forward whilst still investing in players. Putting aside all of the gross/net spending discussion, there has been a great deal spent on bringing players in and it has not been perhaps as successful as everyone wants. Skint - no. Watching the spending - yes.}

We did not spend that much money 50 mil for torres witch borght carrol and henderson meriles who,s money got us adam and enriqe , so we spent money on 1 player downing so how much did we spend gross bout 18 mil new kit deal think as a football club that puts us in profilt warrion sposer standerd charted pluss other deals we have done this year to financial help the club . pluss season sky money premership money leage cup not much but still more money fa cup money . then we have season ticket holders money lets count the chips hhmmmm lets put it this way liverpool are back to making big money . the club has doubled in value since is was bought {Ed002's Note - The club is miles away from being in a profit. The club has not doubled in value since it changed hands. The accounts for the first year in charge for the owners showed a £50M loss. A similar or larger loss will be reported for this year.}

Fabio Capello will not be Liverpool's next manager.
He is going to Chelsea.

Great news!

That's one that is going the rounds. I've just been told the same thing in a West London pub.

But when it comes to Roman Abramovich you can assume nothing.

His treatment of his managers is both cavalier and totally unpredictable.

So when an interview appeared last week with Fabio Capello saying he wanted one last shot at management ” preferably in the Premier League ” it got you thinking.

The picture that accompanied the words from the former England manager might have provided a vague clue as to where he wanted this future employment to be.

It captured Capello studying his feet alongside a street sign of Lennox Gardens, Borough of Chelsea, London SW1.

Coincidentally, just where the former AC Milan, Juventus and Real Madrid boss has a flat.

Despite his failure with England, Capello's CV knocks Di Matteo's into a cocked hat.

11 May 2012 11:53:06
Ed i wanted to know that can the kit sponsor change the club's badge on its own or has to take a approval from the club first {Ed002's Note - They would not do anything without approval from the club.}

11 May 2012 11:07:44
With the reports knocking around this morning about having to sell to buy because of a limited transfer budget, I fell there could be a couple of high profile players who we could move on as we have equally or better replacements for those positions and the two who I would use are Johnson and Lucas,who I feel we could get a combind fee of £30-35 million for! Kelly playing right back eventually moving to CB, and Gerrard playing the holding midfielder role which I feel would help him prolong his carrer by 2 years and could see him being the best in that position in the prem!! This would then give us the funds to buy what we have been lacking for 20 years, genuine width and pace!

Waro

Lucas sold for an aging Gerrard to play DM for the next 1-2 years yes sir you are mental.

That is of course if lucas restores his health perfectly.

Gerrard has
A) not got the legs anymore to be a holding midfielder
B) Not got the discipline or mentality to play there
C) I could see him perhaps in the 'quarterback' role spraying passes

Long live the king

Another pathetic supporter who would sell Lucas to play Gerrard. If anything I would sell Gerrard and give the number 8 to Lucas. That's how much I rate the guy.

Has this not been on before, when as expected people didn't agree with it especially selling Lucas?

Keith

Lucas? are you mad? You will not get a full season out of Gerrard. We need an alternative to him alongside Lucas, and use him as an impact player or back up for the front 2 and wide positions. Lucas would have earned us an extra 10 - 15 points this season if he'd played.

Aintree Red

Gerrard would be awful as DM. He's an AM/CF and always has been. England and Liverpool have gotten it wrong again and again. Only Rafa found his true position when he played just off Torres.

You're insane. Truly insane. Lucas is the best defensive midfielder in the prem, soon to be best in the world if he can continue his rate of improvement after his injury.

Kieran

^^^^^^^^^

totally agree

Lucas is our most important player, which has been proved since he's been out!

Just hope he comes back just as strong

Selling the player who since his injury we have been terrible, next you'll say have Spearing as Gerrards only backup

To be honest with you. If Lucas returns hopefully stronger fitter (yes get in that gym m8!) should seriously think about giving him the captaincy! Thats how far he has improved! WE NEED A PARTNER FOR HIM. Whatever Gerrard does is now a plus ie 20 minutes here and there. Need a Tiote type player. Must be someone out there. Alan Carr's old man must have some more bargains up his sleeve? DJ

You've got to be joking. Sell Lucas? Easily the best player in the team !! And Gerrard (with all due respect to what he has done and still does for the club) is not a solution for every hole you create in the squad. ra1969

I agree with gerrard doing a job in midfield with lucas and downing on the right bellamy r younger man for the left suarez carroll up front keep johnson other than skrtel agger he was very r best player this season sell spearing henderson adam kuyt see what we get but even off the wage bill would help

This story is nonsense anyway. It has come from the Mirror and has no basis, no evidence and no real substance. It says Liverpool are going to have to sign 'Bargain player' (was Enrique not a bargain) or bosman players, there are a number of highly sought players in Europe leaving on potential frees this window. It is simply lazy journalism on what is clearly a slow news day. Ignore it, our owners have said funds will be available. As for selling Lucas that is just daft, we looked poor at the back without him this season. If we need to sell I would cut my losses on Downing who I dont think has been any good and maybe Adam as I cant see him getting a game if Gerrard, Lucas and Shelvey stay fit and at their best.

Anonyred

Lucas has proved he has been the best or one of the best players we've got.. And you sell him. What a ridiculous comment that is. It's dead wood and mercenaries we need rid of!!!!!!

You said this yesterday.....have you not come down from your high yet?!?!

Lucas "BEST IN EUROPE/WORLD" Lucas is average and if he is the mainstay of are midfield for the next 10 years god help us,our mediocrity will go on and on and on! Do any of you clowns actually go the match???

Waro

Waro

Suggest you go over to the blue site where you belong. You really are a dope!

"do any of you clowns go actually go the match".....You sir, are a clown at the highest level. Lucas is solid and continues to grow. Have you seen what happened to the team since his injury, But I suppose you and 1percent of agreeing fans have got to be right......WHO WOULD YOU REPLACE LUCAS WITH?

I hate seeing negative things about Lucas, he was player of the season last year and quality up until he got injured this year, he works harder then anyone, and for the past 18months is a lot better at working the ball forward, we need Lucas so no don't sell him. Watch 90 minutes week in week out and then say that again.

Season ticket holder since 1984 lad so I do watch him week in week out! And I have already said who I would replace him with in my original post! Can't believe you crowd on this site, slaggin off the best midfielder the prem has seen! You lot have got short memories, theres about 5 cups we wouldn't have if it wasn't for Stevie, and you would have Lucas over him? All of you who have slagged him off are a DISGRACE and theres no way your TRUE REDS!

Waro

What are you on? the player we have most missed this season and you want to sell him. dont be daft.lucas stays

Agree with much of what anonyred has said. i can't see fsg abandoning their strategy just because we've had a disappointing league campaign. sounds like the usual crap being spread around.

Lucas is better than Gerrard; he is more consistant and the team play better without Gerrard. IE Chelsea 2 - 1 Liverpool with him but days later we win 4-1 without him. Obviously different reasons also but Gerrard makes players around him worse as they get lazy with him there.

If anything sell Downing; out of the signins he is the worst by a very very long way, then there is Adam who is the epitome of immobile. Hendo has been good recently. Enrique needs to buck up also, great first 10 games then this dross that is his poor forward play and poor defensive lapses in concentration are more and more evident recently. Needs to improve very much.

ben

Waro bet that season ticket is main stand. Where all the team-sheet makers stand. Seriously go to specsavers Gerrard has got a few seasons left and not going forward is actually dragging the team down. when there was no Gerrard to take the game by the scruff of the neck things ran smoother. Lucas isn't the best going forward but in front of the back four he is solid.

Waro

Nobody is slagging Gerrard we're just being realistic. Gerrard has been and will always be a true LFC legend, but with injuries and age hampering him he is going to have to be used sparingly from now on. While Lucas has come through the storm and is proving himself a fantastic holding midfielder and yes I have been watching LFC for just as long as you. How can you say Lucas is mediocre?

I personally think a midfield 3 of Lucas, Adam or Shelvey, and Gerrard or Henderson or Shelvey is the future. I know some of you are going to give me some stick but i see Adam being used as a Molby type player stay in the centre circle spraying passes about.

Man u need some time out...lucas should be sold...i think u should be sold..!!

Dont be so daft in selling lucas hes quality

Waro

Your sentiments do you credit as Stevie G has carried the team on his back for 10 years. However, you are completely misguided if you cannot see the positive impact that Lucas has to the team.

Look at the genuine mental strength that he has shown to overcome the brutal negativity that people like yourself have shown him since he joined. A lesser man would have been broken and looked for a transfer. Yet he is still here and has turned the public opinion of him around.

He has been an enormous loss to the midfield since is injury against Chelsea. He has not been replaced and that has been to the detriment of the team. He would not have cost us as many goals in matches as Jay Spearing did.

Instead of disparaging Lucas, why not enjoy the player that he has blossomed into?...as a genuine fan would do. {Ed026's Note - Show support for a player? Are you mad?!}

To all those lucas haters!
the more you will slate him, the better he will get and we all true lfc fans will keep supporting him - end of the story!

His first name is Lucas, is Lucas, is Lucas
His second name is Leiva, is Leiva, is Leiva
And that is why we like him, we like him, we like him
In fact we f*****ng love him, we love him, we love him
WHOA WHOA WHOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
WHOA WHOA WHOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!

Keep Johnson
Sell Lucas {Ed022's Note - Wow.}

I have heard it all now, Lucas is better than gerrard, don't make me laugh, Stevie g has oh and is the best player we have had for the last ten years, the best midfielder the premier league has had also, he played sat and we lost 2-1 but then won 4-1 tues when he didn't play, also don't remember Lucas playing either, I'm a big Lucas fan but to say he is better than gerrard is a joke, I can sit here and talk about countless games ie finals gerrard has played and won for us, the mans a superhero, why do people also talk about getting rid of so and so, players/managers alike need time, I fully support players, managers, coaching staff, owners and even tea ladies cos I believe this club is going places and with a bit of tweaking to playing staff ie players coming in I expect us to be great next season ynwa

Lucas is class hope he comes back strong and in form

What are you on mate? lucas is the one player you can count on to be faultless game in game out

I can assure you we will not be letting Lucas go. Johnson on the other hand...

Sir Mashet

I was one of the people who said no to Torres comming back but after watching him recently i feel that it might be worth putting a bid for him because i think him and Suarez would be a perfect fit and being more mature would give the likes of carroll time to develope.. What do you think Ed? {Ed002's Note - Torres will not be going back to Liverpool.}

Listen Torres has just as much contempt for LFC fans as they have for him! I was right beside him warming up at wembley and the look on his face was clear for all to see...

Past is past for goodness sake, and poacher played with Suarez would be great.

Get over that traitor called torres,his days are done and dusted

What bout OWEN!!! then!!

You've been watching him recently? old LFC season review dvds i trust cos other than a hat trick against qpr and a simple one on one against barca, he's been pretty dire. again.

Take off your rose tinted gigs lad, he's not wanted anyway.

You are right when you say that Torres and Suarez would play well together, that was why Suarez was bought but Torres in his wisdom decided he did not want to be at Anfield, it was his decision and that is it, he won't be coming back and I think that he won't be at Chelsea much longer either, he made his bed let him lie in it.

hi eds, any truth in the 'liverpool after Oscar from Porte allegro' rumours or is it just made up paper talk?

cheers
john {Ed002's Note - I would be surprised if there were. His ownership is in a real tangle and Internacional and Sao Paulo are still fighting a legal battle over Oscar.}

Just wonder, why there are co-ownership of players between clubs, especially in italy? {Ed002's Note - It is financially a better deal when buying and selling players.}

11 May 2012 09:07:56
Hi Eds great site.....

Just one question what do you think of signing Hugo Rodallega on a free in the summer, gone a bit stale at Wigan but maybe needs that big move, surely worth a risk....if it dont work out we will still make money by moving him on... {Ed002's Note - Personally I cannot see he would be an improvement over the existing players and available younger players. Spurs, Fulham and Newcastle interested in taking Rodallega on a free transfer. I think it has some distance to run but would not be surprised to see interest from Spain as well.}

We have big Andy no need for the wage waster.

I think he'd be great as a back up to Demba Ba and Papiss Cisse for Newcastle, but i also think Newcastle would suit Soloman Kalou down to the ground as well.

I have it on good authority that both Citeh and Liverpool enquired about Rodallega in January but the player wanted to wait until summer to get more money!It didnt go down to well at Wigan, maybe thats why he has hardly played. John Wigan

Is there supposed to be a press conference today with dalgleish announcing hes leaving? If i can recall this is what a posted claimed earlier in the week so wondering if there was any thing else on that? {Ed002's Note - The press conference is about the weekend's game. There is a statement due from Ian Ayre after the Swansea game the content of which is unknown to me.}

Do u now wen after the Swansea game edd.cheers graeme {Ed002's Note - No - it will either be Sunday evening or on Monday. I would eb surprised if it went past Tuesday.}

Director of communications Ian Cotton will leave on sunday by mutual consent, with further communication and community announcements coming in due course.
i imagine this could be reason for statement? further community and communications announcements in due course tho?? mmm
Piddy {Ed002's Note - I don't see why Ian Ayre would be making a statement over such matters. They would hardly bother with a press release to cover them.}

Kd is staying 4 another year fact !

Ed002, on the basis he is MD? linked into possible further announcements?
Piddy {Ed002's Note - Typically, "community and communications announcements" announcements would not merit a statement from te MD. It would typically be washed up at the end of a general press release. Obviously you think otherwise so fine. I have zero interest in arguing about it.}

Rafa and Nando coming back

Stadium? {Ed002's Note - Perhaps but maybe that would be one for Tom Werner.}

Steve Clarke leaving??

The DoF position maybe?

Ed do you think the statement might be about dalglish leaving or going into another role? {Ed026's Note - Anything is possible. It could just be Kenny's chance to wholeheartedly thank every Liverpool fan for their staunch support of him?}

Heard it was about the stadium - Anfield will not be redeveloped, going to move to Stanley Park - there has been a search for months (since before Christmas) for a sponsor which has apparently been found.

Don't know if it is true but I guess possible?

What's the point of printing this? - if people are capable of reading this site, they are capable of reading papers.
Unless of course it's just practising your ability to cut and paste.

Well said its bad enough trailing the same names everyday - Llorente etc... do you think people who read this site don't read BBC ?

Are you after your own site mate? watch out maca he's robbing your method of info lad.

I think some journo said there was more chance of seeing Elvis than Swansea staying up, thats why everyone is dressing up. Nothing to do with the managers musical tastes

Lazar markovic ? {Ed002's Note - Probably Chelsea bound but discussions have stalled over the price.}

Kenny is staying

Hi Eds & Readers

If it is true that we don't have loads of cash to spend in the transfer window, then why don't we try do what Newcastle have done? Try get players who have proven to have ability but just need the right environment to be more consistant and develop even further?

I would seriously look at players such as Elia, Krasic, Dembele & Affelay? These players cover positions we need to strengthen and would also not be expensive. All these players have showed huged potential and I think given the right guidance and environment they can become great players for the club.

Just my opinion tho, I would rather us take this approach than paying over the odds for British players. I dont see any value in British player transfer at the moment.

What do the Eds think?

Cheers

Cape Town Red
{Ed002's Note - I am sure that the club are looking at players such as these. With financial restrictions across the game clubs will look to spending as little as possible, but it is critical than any purchases improve the squad.}

I think Elia has the potential to be very good and would be worth a punt at the right price.

Krasic has barely played this season but, like Elia, has potential. Dembele is a very good player and has impressed at Fulham, the question is how much would he cost?

Affelay has had a few serious injuries so unless we got him dirt cheap he would be a really big risk.

I agree with what you say though, these types of players are the sort we have to target and then mould into the quality we need. Personally I would snap Elia up for 10 million..

3 top signings for Liverpool this summer: Johnson, Belhana, Luuc de jong!!

I would definetely spend all the transfer budget to get them if i was the owner. Especially Younes and Luuk.

That would be Belhanda do you mean or is belhana a new player profile to be requested ?

11 May 2012 08:19:20
Hey eds
Any chance of Chris Hughton (spelling) for manager. Has done a great job for Birmingham.
Keep the great work up.
Scousered {Ed002's Note - I have no idea.}

No he hasn't. Did you see how pitiful Brum were the other night. Holloway has more idea! (Don't want him either)

Birmingham were indeed, terrible over both legs

Stop talking nonsense

11 May 2012 06:35:51
Morning Eds

Do you think that these are reasonable targets for the summer? What would be the going transfer cost ?

Younes Belhanda
Mathias Suarez
Rasmus Elm

REDFORLIFE {Ed002's Note - They are reasonable. I would not want to think about money this early in the morning.}

The only problem with them 3 players is cost elm-7-9m. Suarez-17-23m. belhanda-14-18m there would have to be a sacrifice somewhere possibly de Jong instead of Suarez we can't afford all 3 even if we sell to buy we will still struggle

11 May 2012 05:53:57
Eds, or anybody that might know.
Were we ever really watching Joe Allen, and if so, are we still?

Red7. {Ed002's Note - I have nothing to say there is any interest.}

He's so average why would we be after his services?

Allen is a good player

11 May 2012 00:53:30
Pepe.. I am very proud to play for liverpool, this is my 7th season and hopefully there will be many more.
LFC official website..so lets put that one to bed.
RNred

He just needs to stop letting in goals now and all will be OK

Well he,s hardly going to tell the lfc website i dont like it here i want champions league football im trying to engineer myself a move out of here torres said the same 2 days before he left still went tho im not saying your wrong but take waht any footballer say,s with a pinch of salt what they say and what they are thinking is 2 different things

Always good to hear that from players - reassures other players and attracts new players. Just hope Pepe has a top season next season - this year he has had a bit of a stinker by his standards!

YNWA jns

I wouldn't read too much into this as this was taken from back in March when the photoshoots were done for the new kits. Also: what do you expect him to say? "Yes I'm leaving in June"

11 May 2012 00:45:44
Eds, any further developments with javi martinez? He is a wonderful player and his versatility would get him any side in the world in my opinion {Ed016's Note - Nothing new. If you do a search you will find a ton of info}

11 May 2012 00:34:22
I don't understand why fans are hating on the new home kit. Looks pretty decent and smart to me. Would have liked the Standard Chartered sign to be a bit lower down though. Any dates on when away n 3rd kits are coming out?

Also Eds in the advertising of the kit Carroll, Suarez, Johnson and Reina have been involved. What effect do you see that having on them being linked with moves away. What I mean is that if the club were looking to potentially sell them including them in the kit advertising surely wouldn't have been ideal?

Hassan

Would love your view on the kit advertisement thing eds. I think he have a point there. {Ed016's Note - editing}

Great golf shirt

The new kit is fantastic ,the 96 on it sold it for me

Can nobody else remember Alonso being a BIG part of advertisement before he left.

Used to hurt every time I went on the LFC site and saw him smiling back at me wearing the kit, knowing he is in Madrid.

Andy Carroll was Mr. February in the Newcastle United 2011 team calendar. That one was funny.

The big bellys wont like it

If you all remember so was Torres and we had to take that massive Poster outside Anfield of him down. and replace it with something else! means nothing!

11 May 2012 00:29:24
please liverpool dont be stupid in the transfer market this time make these signings

adam johnson, alot better than downing

edin dzeko, would work well alongside suarez

reina

johnson agger coates enrique

lucas

downing johnson

gerrard

suarez
dzeko {Ed016's Note - Dzeko wasn't someone I had considered, but I am thinking he wants Champions League, perhaps so does Adam Johnson lol for two players who should be just looking for first team football}

Johnson's a right winger and Downing plays on the left. lololol

So you are saying you would rather have Coates as CB than Skrtel? To me earlier in the season Sktrtel and Agger made a superb partnership and had up until Xmas conceeded the least amount of goals in the league. It all went Pete Tong when Agger picked up another injury and Carragher came in. Skrtel is right footed and needs to be on the right side so with him and Agger together we are excellent. Choosing Carra causes the problems and that is no disrespect to him because he is an unbelievable player who puts himself on the line for LFC. Don't expect many changes this summer. Good tos ee Carroll so eager against Chelsea. Keep that form over the summer and in to next season and things will be different. Just hope his bird doesn't swerve him, she should be given a contract to keep him out the boozer. Mitch

Adam Johnson yes
Dzeko no

What about our player of the year Martin Skrtel and Andy Carroll

11 May 2012 00:26:21
pepe reina says this so hopefully put the rumour to bed !

Pepe Reina - "It's important for all of us to see the new kit – it's the start of a new era. I feel very proud to be at Liverpool. It's my seventh season here and hopefully there will be many more.

reina staying put guys

cheers

lw12 {Ed016's Note - I think he will just play for life. I think he realises that the Spanish goal keeping job is a tough cookie to crack. I think he is settled with his kids and happy, he always seems to be smiling, I think he had a bad end of the season but very glad to be keeping a brilliant Goalkeeper}

11 May 2012 00:24:48
Rasmus elm 7mil could come in kenny and pardew flew out to hope to watch him but he was at birth of his son
{Ed016's Note - Thank you Doctor}

11 May 2012 00:24:44
This is a rumour site and as such is about mainly conjecture and some wishful thinking, accompanied ofcourse by windup merchants. I do not think anyone on here is in the know, and idle gossip or blatant fabrication is not rumour. I have a family member closely related to a Liverpool player and he hears nothing despite trying to unearth some stories. My favourites are the ITK's who quantify their " rumours " with " things can change " as a way of covering their arses. You know who you are.... {Ed016's Note - the site is what it is, it is for people who enjoy transfer season, the site doesn't make up lies and charge you for money like other sites. The only person I believe has good info is Macca, he has been spot on and when things have not happened, there is actually proof of why it didn't later on. So believe what you want, of course there are a lot of people who post absolute nonsense but what can you do?}

I have to agree

ChinUp

Let them post nonsense, it's half the fun. This site is awesome, I take most of what I read with a pinch of salt, but the eds do a good job, it's entertaining and I am allowed to express my opinion. If I didnt like it I wouldnt read it all day every day.

Hi Macca

Suarez staying or going in a word?

How are the eds or macca meant to answer that in one word?! They're not psychic! They very kindly give us info when they have it! Jeeeez give them a break! {Ed016's Note - how about this for one word. "dunno"

Possibly...

Suarez will stay unless he forces a move. Kenny has gone out of his way to support the lad.
