Hearing we've agreed a 17.5 million fee for Gaston Ramirez, £85,000 a week and medical on Monday!

LFCBilly

Hope this isn't just Twitter rubbish!

So have i, dont know how true it is kind f come from nothing

Just seen this on twitter hopefully it's true... More of this I hope

DavrosRed

Twitter rumours. It's not real.

WHAT!? DONT SAY YOUR HEARING!!

You have simply just logged on twitter.
Twitter Rumours once again -_-

LFCHero ;)!

The 300th time we've signed him this summer.
derryred

U read too much twitter mate, take no notice it aint happening !

Really hope so although i doubt it

It's a load of crap, don't believe it, we've made a bid for Tello though.

It's not true, it's off twitter! The guy who tweeted it, tweeted 2 minutes later sayin his brother posted it and it was false! Twitter user: niclasgerrard

The rumor originated from twitter

13 Aug 2012 00:35:37
Twiter is a poisonous thing.....Akers it with a pinch of salt.....I 100% percent believe in what Macca says and doesn't seem to be anything on Ramirez.....

Cheers

Markolfc85

Picked up by Caught Offside now too. Watching these things gather pace is pretty interesting. You would think 'journalists' would not just publish Twitter rumors but actually verify from multiple legit sources the info. Crazy world we live in these days...

Too much money

How would you know the wages? And we wouldn't pay 85k p/w for an unproven player, remember last year?

Asking price is £16m and Salary £60k week. so we want give him more ?

OMG, Just seen on twitter that Liverpool are trying to sign me from my pub team, 5k a week. Must be true !

Gaston ramirez is definetely not signing for LFC

12 Aug 2012 22:50:02
Adam and Spearing will go. Sahin in on a season long loan to replace Adam. Carroll will be sold if a bid in the 18-20 mil comes. Agger will only be sold if a bid over 25 mil comes although he does not want to go as he loves Liverpool and recently got YNWA tattood on his knuckles. Money from Agger will be used to buy Diego Bodin( to replace Agger) and a bid for Theo Walcott will be made as Liverpool target Christian Tello looks like he might be on his way to Arsenal as part of Song deal. If Carroll leaves I hear we will move in for Huntelaar. The Dempsey deal is right now in limbo as Fulham want 12 mil. Liverpool are willing to pay 6 mil inclouding Adam.

Hope its all true except for agger and godin

Guesswork is wonderful - you must certainly be well ITK.

John B

Inclouding adam?, i think ur heads in the clouds matey.

tommy c

You blew it with Huntelaar mate...good try though

12 Aug 2012 22:40:03
Hey eds how likely is it that dempsey will join and adam goes the other way? Also any news on ramirez snd hope we get sahin. Sahin would really suit us! {Ed052's Note - nothing on Ramirez. Adam, Fulham and Dempsey has been done to death before}

12 Aug 2012 21:35:36
Eds.wots the chances of Dempsey signing seems to be goin on for ages now . {Ed052's Note - reducing }

12 Aug 2012 22:13:19
Liverpool are making a surprise move for young Millwall striker John Marquis. My uncle works for a firm that represents Millwall for legal matters including player contracts, as a Liverpool fan I was never bothered about who Millwall bought and sold but when he let me know about this deal last night I thought I'd come on here and let you know - no idea if the player is any good or what the fee is, but there you go, it should be announced on Monday 13th August

Ah great, another young English lad who nobody has ever heard of.

To be honest, he's probably crap

29 appearance and 5 goals for Millwall. Yup, I think he is crap.

Tick tock, tick tock....

Myk

12 Aug 2012 21:40:04
Ed002 on twitter someone is claiming 3 clubs made a bid for Suarez before he signed a new contract with us. Juve is common knowledge but he quoted PSG and Chelsea also tabled offers. I know you have lots of info on Chelsea and would like to know if this is true. Thanks

AlwaysRed {Ed002's Note - Before he joined Liverpool Spurs were bidding for him.}

Ed002, with respect thats not the answer to the question he's asking, he refers to the latest contract in this transfer window. Just pointing this out as I find it an interesting question...

Huws {Ed002's Note - Juve, Palermo and probably PSG. Roma went very quiet. I am by no means sure any manifested themselves in hard "bids".}

Something that is worrying me...we assume that Suarez signing is good news, but is the contract longer or the pay higher? Could it be they have just inserted a release fee/condition?

12 Aug 2012 21:22:19
hi ed002 like your thoughts on agger i think we will except the offer but will agger just like carrol who said no to westham because he has said he wont play for anyone else in the prem and with his new tatoo so do you think its posibble he will reject the move

mike {Ed002's Note - Perhaps, but I fear he will move on regardless - as I said there are two other major clubs looking for a CB.}

Ed002, how come you fear that he will move on? I thought you were a Chelsea supporter? On a side note, I have searched but can't find your opinion on Sahin. Would you consider him to be "star signing" material?

100% Cotton {Ed002's Note - Sahin has been angling for a move to AC Milan who are being cautious in the market or a return to Germany with Bayern Munich but there is no interest from them. A move to Besiktas has been rejected although Galatasaray would like to take him to Turkey. There is confirmed interest from Spurs, Inter, MIlan, Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United. Malaga also spoke to Madrid about the possibility of a loan. I understand that Miguel Pardeza would prefer to see a sale at an unrealistic price rather than a loan. "Star" is a subjective term but I would very much doubt it would apply to Sahin. Macca says near and I will take his word for it.}

So ed would u say barca if that is who u mean by the other major club are more likely to get agger if they bid what we want for him thanks {Ed002's Note - Barcelona and AC Milan are searching for a CB.}

Whos that ed? Barca and? {Ed002's Note - Barcelona and AC Milan.}

Who else other then city and barca are intrested ed me myself i think we should keep him the club always says we want players who play for there shirt and who love the club well agger is that massively dheers

mike {Ed002's Note - I expect him to move on.}

If agger goes to city f))k johnson what about kolorov
paisleys lad

12 Aug 2012 20:15:55
Hi Ed's,

If we do manage to sign Sahin, Walcott and Johnson on loan (part of Agger deal)...

Is there any idea what will happen to Adam, Spearing and Henderson?

Thanks

Hoola {Ed052's Note - Adam and Spearing will probably be sold. }

Why do people think Henderson is going to go?

I no you may not post this but if adam and spearing are sold i will jizz in my pants lol

Who woud pay money for them???

Thanks as always Ed's :o)

Hoola

I hope you're right Ed052!

Should def sell spearing,he's not good enough to be in the reds midfield

To the poster who said they will Jizz there pants - please post name so I can ensure your not standing next to me when this happens ;o)

Hoola

12 Aug 2012 20:04:01
Ed002, if as you say, Amorebieta is out for a month, who then becomes an option should Agger leave?
Also, Sahin "close to signing"? What can you share about the veracity of this? I'd love it to be true, but I just can't see it happening. We'll see.

Govan Sami {Ed002's Note - There is reported interest in Godin - for me he has had a bad year or so and may not be a good option. Amorebieta would be better. Whilst I am aware of the interest in Sahin from Liverpool I am also aware that RM may prefer to sell with Pardeza quoting AC Milan what I am told is a totally unrealistic price for the sale of the player.}

Any thoughts on lovren, papadopoulous, or tasci? they woul all be cheaper than agger fee?

Ed lfc are not trying loan sahin. It is permanent.

12 Aug 2012 19:29:33
Been to San Mames today looking round the museum and the tour guide tells us that Llorente is leaving for 1 of the Manchester Clubs. Post in rumours please {Ed002's Note - Should have included Juventus in that list.}

Those tour guides , they know everything.

I am likely going to be crucified for this but I really do hope that Llorente does not end up in Serie A. He is far too good for what is currently a second tier league.

Even though he would likely score bags of goals against us, if at another English club, it would be a privilege to be able to see him playing regularly over here. As I've said before, I think that he could become the perfect Premier League player, due to his fantastic combination of skill, finesse, physical strength and pace. I also admire the loyalty that he has shown to Bilbao over the years, despite previous attempts to lure him to some of Spain and Europe's top clubs.

It's such a shame that the past two years have been so difficult for us, as otherwise I think that we would have had a really good shout at getting him now that he appears prepared to leave Bilbao.

Ginger Rodgers

Why didn't you post it in the manchester clubs websites, because quite frankly i want to know who we are signing

Why arnt you posting this on the Manchester clubs pages

Yeah got to agree tour guides is where all the press get the info from

Liverpool have submitted a £15m bid for Arsenal Winger Theo Walcott.

No they haven't ...... Why do u sad people post stupid comments..... U not better to do? It sad

Craig

No they havent

Whats your source? Could be good business

They turned down 25 mil from Chelsea 2 months ago why accept 15 mil?

He's in the last year of his contract surely we could sign him for less than that?
Hutch

Because Walcott is a LFC lover and would be willing to take a paycut to join us. Mind once he joins us, we have the option to increase his current offer at Arsenal....

We would rather bid 20-22 million for gaitan than 15 million for a player in his last year of contract & not much endproduct..

Turned down 25 million for a player that has 1 good game in 10.get a grip

Lmao 25m. Yous will be lucky to get that for van persie not alone Walcott

Believe it when i see it. tony s

Why would Walcott leave a Champions League team that, with all the new signings coming in, have a realistic chance at trophy's again, to join a team that finished nearer to relegation than the top? If any of you believe its because he's a Liverpool fan then you are really fooling yourself. Chris Smalling is a die hard Arsenal fan but chose Man Utd, Aaron Ramsey is Man Utd fan but chose Arsenal. Thats why they're called "Professional" footballers.

What do people see in Walcott?? He can run in a straight line but that's about it he can't cross and he can't finish - would rather give sterling a proper chance than waist more money!!

And joe Allen is a massive united fan

We have already got 1 downing we dont need another

Persie and song will leave so that means wolcott would be their best player so it will be hard to get him!if we did got him it would be good signing he young and good thats what we need....

15mil definitely worth a try. If we could get johnson/ramirez as well would be good. Need to remember how lacking we are in wide attacking positions with maxi and kuyt gone. Walcott did assist a lot of rvp's goals last season, surely would link up with our creative players after being used to arsenal style. Jstaff

^thats exactly what i think

12 Aug 2012 18:53:19
Sahin is very close to signing..

I also hate to say it looks like Agger will leave, the club are expecting City to come back with an improved offer which could include Johnson..

Also we are stepping up our efforts to sign Walcott..

Thoughts please..

Cheers

Macca
{Ed033's Note - confirmed as the real Macca

S*** I hoped that they had given up on Agger!

RAH, YNWA

Is there at all any chance he myt stay with us please respond thank u

I have 3 questions that all LFC fans will want answering following this news:
1)will we sign a replacement if Agger leaves?
2)What's the latest on Dempsey and Afellay?
3)If Agger leaves, will it be to City or Barca?

Thanks

Where will Sahin fit into the team? Especially if we sign Walcott. I know there will be a lot of options there but it doesn't seem likely that he'll get as many games as he hoped. I'm guessing 23 mil and Adam Johnson but I really don't think we'll sell him. Walcott would be a great option and I want him at Anfield.

BthekingB

Really hope agger decides to stay it would be personic to sell him especially with not much time left in the window we will get ridiculous asking prices for decent CB's.

I would be over the moon if we ended up signing Sahin, Walcott, Johnson and Godin as replacement for Agger. I think this would be fabulous business in this transfer window. Dgb79

Very pleased if we do manage to get sahin....tho not sure if there is room for both him and allen with adam and henderson still at the club. Gutted about agger however johnson could be useful. Would rather not walcott as I grieve there are much better alternatives such as affelay.
Thanks

Delighted with the Sahin news, Wallcots pace would greatly improve our attack but very sad to hear about Agger, he was great as always on thursday and unles we get a fine replacement he will surely be missed.

Edds If this is true who is a likely replacement for agger bobcat {Ed052's Note - Amorebieta}

If this info is correct, we better start getting rid of some midfielders then, cause we are gonna have way too many. Any news on some outgoing midfielders? Cole, spearing, Shelvey, Adam etc...

If we replace Agger with quality and get AJ, Walcott and Sahin you can't really complain. Walcott looked great for Arsenal this afternoon an I think both him an AJ will add pace. ACatACatACat

Any idea where sahin would be playin an what sort of price we talkin for wallcot and any idea of replacement for agger or would coates step up

Is Agger willing to go though?Think he´d block any deal.

Gutted about agger, but love the sound of walcott, sahin and think AJ has lots of potential, just not keen on the way we get hold of him!

Will the inclusion of johnson be as permanent signing or as loan..wit an option to buy?

If sahin joins now that allen has already joined certainly means spearing, adam are surely going..maybe joe cole as well..
being realistic an offer of 20-25 million plus + AJ on a permanent deal for agger would be great.. if MCFC play 3 at the back like they did today and pre season they would definitely come back for agger..

I'd take the hit on Agger to get Johnson plus cash. Shame to lose a good player, but we're in desperate need of a winger and it's the situation that we're in as a club; if it benefits to sell at a premium price for the greater good, then that's just the way it is. Just glad we're no longer mugs when it comes to selling players and getting crap fees for them.

Is godin a potential replacement for agger? it will be so hard to say goodbye to agger! i hope he will not feature against us in september.

Have they a replacement lined up for agger

First of all I welcome your continued contribution to supplying accurate news.
Although I would hate to see Danny leave if it helps us improve the squad then its got to be good in the long run.
Walcott, Sahin, Johnson would certainly provide strength in depth & competition for places. Hopefully Dempsey can be added to this as well.

Leyland Wool

Interesting. Where do people suspect Sahin will play if/when he joins? because it looks like midfield 3 might be Allen Lucas Gerrard. Is Sahin back-up on the bench or perhaps Allen is? I Suppose we do have alot of games with the europa league this season, perhaps a sign that Brendan wants to win it.

Although I would h8 to see agger leave it represents intelligent business on the clubs part getting 25m for a player who plays 25 games a year is great business an would allow the club to improve the squad with 2 additional signings Walcott-13m Dempsey-8 with money left I think Coates could move into the 2nd centre back slot with carra-3rd choice an Kelly 4th sama and wisdom further back up. My heart says keep him my head says get rid. The only thing I would say is would man u sell vidic and would barca sell pique mmmmmm. Kevo

I'd be happy with that. Thanks once again for the info my friend.
Red Sheep.

If agger don't want to go then why are we selling one of our best players I just don't get it. And it all so show me we don't have a lot of money if we are to get better then you don't sell your best player there a lot more players who should go be for agger I will tel you that

Would not sell agger dont think carra or coates can play next to skrtel. To me when gerrard was talking it was as though he was saying the club wants to sell him and agger didnt want to go but that was my opinion!

Kopite94

12 Aug 2012 19:23:09
Assuming the bid for Agger is over 20mil then im happy. Sahin is a great player, walcott will add some well needed pace, as will Adam Johnson. Agger is a great player but 20+mil and a player for an injury prone defender is good enough for me. Cheers Macca

Agger has made it clear to anyone that will listen that he will refuse any move to Man City, the club can agree prices all they want he will refuse the move and will sign a new deal.

I'd be truly gutted if Agger leaves, he's a wonderful player. If he does go I'd want straight cash, no players. I don't see Johnson as a player I'd like. He's not much of an upgrade on Downing, so pointless in my eyes.

Walcott is a tricky one. He does have talent and everyone knows that. He is still young, but he's pretty injury prone and so inconsistent. People say he has no final ball, well that's not entirely true he does have one, but sometimes like Suarez he runs (Suarez dribbles) himself into a great position but snatches at the opportunity. If he's taught to compose himself then we'll see, but then Arsene's not a bad teacher is he?

Sahin's quality and as a bonus I think it means Adam will be gone, possibly as a deal involving Dempsey.

Papa G

Is it permanent or loan

12 Aug 2012 19:19:59
Absolutely smashing post, Thanks Macca. Allen, Borini, Walcott, Johnson and Sahin would be a very good transfer window.

I would assume this would mean no Dempsey but also mean getting Amorebieta which I would be pleased with.

Looks like this could be a great start for Rodgers.

We would have a great team with quality on the bench. for example, a midfield of Gerrard, Sahin, Allen and Lucas, plus shelvey and henderson we have somne great depth.

Any thoughts?

JTR {Ed002's Note - I am yet to be convinced that the interest in Amorebieta has not waned. He has had an op and returned to light training but may not be available for a month.}

Agger is so much more important for us then Johnson will ever be - really hope the owners can see this and not be blinded by Johnson's highlight reel. If he was that good he would have played more for city the fact that he's been happy to sit on the bench for the last couple of years collecting his wage does not show the character needed for our football club - whereas Agger's attitude is perfect (so is his new tattoo!)
Yorkshire born, scouse bred (with butter!)

12 Aug 2012 19:20:47
Macca how comes we are looking to sign another centre mid in sahin, even if Adam goes we still have Gerrard , hendo,Allen,Lucas, shelvey, spearing, and do U think there is a chance on Theo cause look at the hard ball they have played with rvp, I can't see Theo leavin this yr

12 Aug 2012 19:21:27
Cheers Macca suppose it was inevitable really wasnt it? Hopefully the deal benefits us in the long run. Sahin, Johnson and Walcott added to Aggers replacement and all in all could be for the better

WicklowRed

Shame about Dan Agger if true, might be in a minority, but would prefer straight cash if he is to leave, not convinced by Adam Johnson.

Jimbo

As much as I love agger for the reported 20 million and Adam Johnson I think we would be getting a great deal! Dont rate Walcott i know he would give us pace but lacks an end product

12 Aug 2012 19:22:31
Thanks Macca. Happy to hear about Sahin! He's a very good player! But I wonder then, as he is a CDM, whose place does he take. I very much doubt he would want to be on the bench as the whole reason he'd be leaving Madrid would be to prove himself. Allen just signed for 15mil as well and Rodgers obviously rates him very highly. And no way I can see Stevie benched. His link up with Suarez is telepathic. And Lucas? Maybe. But Lucas has become a key player too. Good problem to have anyways. Hope we get Dempsey sooner rather than later plus the wide men.
Also really hope Agger stays. He clearly doesnt wanna leave.
Dani

12 Aug 2012 19:25:46
Macca once again thanks for the info mate.

Mighty reds

Wow really wasnt expecting that, sahin is quality, could this mean the end for adam or spearing? shame about agger but 15m + johnson is a very good business. thanks for the info keep it coming

Thanks Macca. Great about Sahin, not so much about Agger. Presumably we're getting daft money for him though. Hoping that Godin will be the one to replace him.

12 Aug 2012 19:27:11
Cheers Macca hate the thought of agger leaving do you know if he wants to go to city? Would love to see Johnson and wallcott cheers for the update. Would love to know aggers feeling towards transfer if you can find out?
Cheers

Ben

Don't forget guys the club can accept a bid but if the player wants to stay, he will. If Agger does agree to leave I'd hope he would go to Barca

12 Aug 2012 19:27:44
All great news apart from Agger..Could Sahin now be in before season opener Macca..info great again mate

atlfc70

12 Aug 2012 19:28:01
Thanks Macca, I personally think we are moving in the right direction.

12 Aug 2012 19:28:31
gutted that aggers off,but if we get those in and another class defender (not injury prone). rodgers really impressing me

12 Aug 2012 19:28:55
Macca, do you expect to see a replacement to be brought in? Perhaps Godin or will Coates, Kelly or Wilson step up? PJ

It'll be hard to take if Agger leaves, especially as it seems like an owners decision as opposed to a managers or players decision. It's begins a slippery slope to becomming Arsenal.

Sahin should excite...Johnson and Walcott too (if he can figure out how to run in anything but a straight line) but I hope we have someone like Godin lined up.

-Shane.

12 Aug 2012 19:29:25
Macca- as I have said several times on here I do not think Walcott will improve us. Might have improved what we had last season but we will be a much stronger squad this year. What are your thoughts on the guy?

Puzzled

12 Aug 2012 19:29:45
Any news on who else is going out Macca?

12 Aug 2012 19:30:20
Macca noo! Just when I got my hopes up about Agger staying! Im pretty sad at this news. Theo and Sahin would be good signings.

Can I ask, why do you think Agger got YNWA tattooed on his fingers? And do you think if we get Johnson do you think Walcott will still be a target.

Thanks for your info again.

AlwaysRed

Is sahin a loan or permanent?

Do you believe the bid for agger will be acepted?

The guy has just had YNWA tattooed on his knuckles! I totally understand the need to accept a bid that would benefit the club, but I hope we don't try to force him out :(

If we get 25 million bid for agger i would take it and not look bk never play's a full season and could buy someone like Holger Badstuber

Why sign Johnson and Walcott?

Go for it we need some pace and quality added to our squad!

Red Lee

Remember lads it doesn't matter what the owners want, if agger wants to stay then there's nothing they could do about it. Plus it would be pretty awkward walking into city with a YNWA tattoo for everyone to see

Very excited about Sahin, gutted about Agger but what can we do, people come and go that's football

Would be a great shame if Agger leaves but £20m odd for a player in his late 20s who claims he always plays in pain and misses half of almost every season is not bad. He' a great player and I love him, but I would accept that bid. Will be delighted if he turns down a move as well.

Dont get the hysteria over agger. 25 million or thereabouts is great business. It seems people have lost a bit of perspective given his performances in the euros. He is injury prone and as a result is a liability. Amorbietta could be good, not fussed on godin. But the other incomings more than make up for aggers loss. A window with borini, agger, sahin, walcott and johnson would be amazing and more than make up for agger

Really, another midfielder? Are midfield is packed at the minute

Wow! your words travel fast, you are all over twitter already. Sahin would be a great signing, he would offer us a bit more flair as we rely on Suarez too much. It will be sad to see Agger go, as he really strikes me as a BR type of player. However the owners are being clever holding out for a sizeable fee, despite his injury concerns. Personally I think Coates can fill the void but BR will bring in a centre half although he may take time to bed in.

Be honest, how many of ya's av ever seen sahin play? Because. Readind some comments, not many, he will fit in the team with allen, adam will go, talk. Also of either shelvey, henderson or spearing will leave on loan, joe cole will also go, if we get r targets ie: wallcot and a johnson,
Akan suker

Was a £23 Million bid for Agger not rejected today? I hope the 'YNWA' tattoo is not a tribute but a statement of loyalty.

Always like Agger and is commited to the club, but as most have said, if we get 20m+ for a player whos injured for half a season then its good money.... Would citeh be looking to offload a defender if Agger goes? if so who? wouldnt mind Richards as part of the deal

Great info. On Agger, heart says nooooo but head says good business. Would be gutted if we turned it down and then he missed half the season
Where do we think Sahin fits into the midfield, wonder if Stevie could work as one of the front 3?

If Walcott comes in, I really can't see why we would even want Johnson to be honest

Im In London... and the abuse that Walcott sometimes gets at his own ground is amazing... If we sign what was called one of the most exciting young players around... i am not sure how anyone would be disappointed.

If Agger doesnt want the move... very much like Carroll did... does that mean he stays?

For the question of Sahin fitting into the system, if you watch Dortmund matches, he was a deep lying midfielder who orchestrated the game. He could fit in as a backup to Lucas or Lucas could be pushed further forward with Sahin also starting. At any rate Sahin is a much better backup than Spearing.....much better. I don't care if its on loan - its a year of a quality squad player.

I echo thoughts of many. Good attacking options but what about Agger replacement? Carragher not good enough anymore & Coates isn't ready.

Gav the Red

Ed,002 if we get 20 million + for agger any chance we could get Mats hummels(or CB's of the highest quality) for 17-18million + danny wilson etc who doesnt play much at all.. {Ed002's Note - None.}

Delighted with the news , although it seems hard to lose agger but it will be acceptable if 20m+ and johnson , please ed reply .. if we can get 20m from agger's deal can we bid for hummels or chiellini?
thank you

Why would we need another cm as we are already stacked in the midfield.

Why do people complain about Walcott's end product. You people criticize his finishing as well yet dont see how good his finishing is. I agree that his end product is bad but his finishing is top notch and you know why??. He hasnt forgotten what he was taught at Southampton and despises what Arsene wants him to be i.e. a Winger. At Southampton, he was an inside forward and not a line hugger as Arsene want him to play. He will be a stunner at LFC, we get Johnson as well and then look at our combos in attack.
Walcott, Borini, Suarez
Johnson, Borini, Suarez
Walcott, Carroll, Suarez
Johnson, Carroll, Suarez......Damn, we can beat anyone then in my view, who knows even Barca....

That deal would break my heart, Agger is so much more important than another midfielder (Johnson). Sahin would be a good player though. Please don't Agger, they are a faceless squad of people playing for their bottom line, we are a family that loves you. Anonyred

Midfield is packed yes but of what? we dont have the strongst of mmidfields.. Sahin would boost it massively

Maybe Lucas would play against stronger sides, but Sahin would partner Allen to open up 'lesser' sides.

Does anyone have anything more definitive as to whether Coates has the ability to step up as a legit option should Agger be off? Does Coates have the requisite skill to play in Rodgers system?

As much as it pains me to say it, the business bottom line of a 20M+ deal for Agger is sound, particularly when you consider than a more-than-adequate replacement could cost a significant amount less. You hate to see tattooed-on-the-heart (and knuckles) players leave, yet when proceeds can finance a better club...

Colin

Walcott (baulk) noooooooo!! No end product. Rather have Gjohnson as right winger. Sell Adam, Cole and loan out jonjo. Buy Dempsey n loan Sahin and sign both Godin n amorbeita if agger goes. Coates not yet proven n therefore unreliable and carra is almost done!! Please, another striker in Sewell as keeping Carroll. Also need a LWB such as vargas.

Jamie

Not happy to lose agger, would prefer to skurtle to leave, thought Coates played well today and would make a better paid with agger. Johnson not sure if he is the right man for the job would rather see Ramirez or someone like that.

Truth is the owners accepted the bid but agger doesnt want to go to city. End of.

Theo Walcott ffs. We already have Stewart useless Downing in the squad. Wenger can't even coach Walcott to produce two back to back performances in four years at the bottlers, I mean Rodgers is good but he's no miracle worker. At 15m last year of contract its daylight robbery.

As for Sahin, well if he comes in we need to be booting small time Charlie out the door.

I agree Agger would be a big loss he is a classy defender but with the money being mentioned and his injury record we can't really say no. We have really lacked raw pace and wingers and this has been a real problem in the past few seasons for us unlocking defensesbso Walcott and Johnson would be fantastic options.

Agree Sahin looks a good player but he is yet another MF who will create chances and surely we need someone to take those chances.
Personally not over excited about Walcott or Johnson ( can we pay their wages?)
and would be very sad to see Agger go.
CR

Much rather have Richards as the make weight in the deal than Johnson

I think brendan's going to turn sahin into a centre back who can pass the ball. It could be a straight replacement for Agger then.

SuperDuperSuarez

Surely if we got Sahin and Walcott, Adam Johnson would be irrelevant thus eradicating the need to sell Agger and buying a player of less ability.

Honestly can't see Agger going to City, he doesnt want the move, also must pick up on the point about him being injury prone, although he had problems last year would have been his best as his injuries were broken ribs, both times, so that's a poor and weak arguement. As for replacements, none of the names mentioned are fit to lace Aggers boots, and if you think 25m is a good deal, did you see how poor Thiago Silva was at the weekend? If PSG paid £35m for him then City can double that for Agger as they have deep pockets. Seriously we are selling ourselves short if we settle for £25m and a bench warmer. BIGGER PICTURE PEOPLE.

Agger has been great for us in the games he has managed to play. I am an admirer of Agger but we have got Coates. (Hes younger, and won an award for his displays in the copa america. he will be with us for a long time. I think we can cope without Agger. We also have good centre backs coming up through the ranks. Take into consideration the injuries, age and the money regarding Agger and I think its good business. He will be missed but if we can use the opportunity to improve the overall squad id sell him! Wont be the end of the world if u ask me.

My question is if we get Johnson and Walcott is any sort of deal for the likes of Tello, Afellay or Dempsey still on? And are there any other names for a CB replacement except Amorebieta?

And what are some of you on about... If we get Sahin then we wont have too much players in midfield. Gerrard isn't getting any younger and wont play every game like we saw last season. Spearing clearly isn't good enough. Adam might be out. Cole can play on the wing unless he's out aswell. Then you have Gerrard, Lucas, Allen, Sahin, Henderson and Shelvey. To me that looks good enough and we need a bit of depth in the squad so what's the problem.

This would leave us with a very strong squad

Six to cover the midfield three. gerrard allen lucas sahin shelvey henderson

Six to cover the front three. suarez borini downing sterling walcott johnson

what a squad that would be. gutted about agger tho.

Welsh red

With many others in this- love Agger and he's a great player, but his injury record is pretty shocking. My concern is about replacements. I don't think Coayes is at the same level (or really even close) and Carra, legend he is, isn't getting any younger.

The possible replacements in that have been mentioned don't strike me as quite at the same level either (Amorebieta and Godin).

Dont want to see agger leave but could see kelly doing good job in that position.his experience at RB coming forward with the ball makes me think he could do well as a ball playing CB,also his natural position
iffalfc

Gerrard at centre half ?

"Yeah, Sahin, all well and good but where's he gonna play?" Some of you lot are so dense it's unbelievable! Aside from the fact Stevie never plays more than half a season anymore, Adam, Henderson and Spearing are absolute garbage... Allen, Lucas, Sahin. That is a midfield our club can be proud of.

12 Aug 2012 22:27:01
WOW...If this is true and knowing Macca it usually is, this would be fantastic, i, like everyone would hate to see Agger leave but he injured a lot and we have to be realistic in that we are not the richest of clubs, so if we get an offer of 20m ish (the rumoured fee) then that is good business and for once our forward line would have bags of pace, let's just hope one of our other full backs can step up to the plate......

MR EM

12 Aug 2012 22:27:27
i hope your wrong on agger mate but if its 20 mil+ and johnson you cant blame the board for taking that also if sahin is over his injury problems could be a good player for us thx for the info Macca

12 Aug 2012 22:27:53
Do you think Sahin might join us before the season opener?! And is it a loan deal with a view to making it permanent? Cheers for the info Macca mate, very appreciated! Scouserseb

12 Aug 2012 22:28:12
Thank Macca, every time I see a post by you it makes my day a lot better. Appreciate all your work. Shame if Agger goes but if he does then use the money to replace and keep this rebuilding process going.

12 Aug 2012 22:29:15
Sahin is great news!

Not quite sure what to think of Walcott to be honest - he's not as bad as people make out though..

Not happy about Agger leaving. If we do get Adam Johnson & use the money for a class replacement then I wouldn't be too disheartened.. Diego Godin, maybe?

Any news on a possible replacement for Agger, Macca?

Cheers,

Stone YNWA

12 Aug 2012 22:29:37
Great news,we have been crying out for pace.hope we get all 3.thanks Macca top info as always.jack A.

12 Aug 2012 22:29:58
Thanks for that Macca, be delighted if it was the case, godin for agger! Would prefer Ramirez to Johnson. But thanks for the info. Al

12 Aug 2012 22:32:00
Cheers for update Macca, hope Agger not true, but realistically if we got £20 million and Johnson, hand on heart we would be daft not to at least consider it

Fazza

I am always willing to let any player go for the right price but only if a suitable alternative can be brought in with enough time. The fact city want agger should tell you there isn't another alternative which will leave us light on defenders until one is available.

I don't personally see amorebieta as anywhere the standard of agger, far too rash. Ball playing defenders are rare these days. With that in mind I wouldn't sell just yet.

12 Aug 2012 22:23:20
Thanks Macca, if Agger does go have you heard who is replacement will be - he will be a big miss but Sahin and Johnson will be welcome additions!

YNWA jns

12 Aug 2012 22:25:06
rumours today are that we rejected another offer for agger and they dont want to lose Johnson in the deal. Plus where would Sahin play if we just signed Allen..

I would prefer to keep Agger. Also i really dont hope the Walcott deal is true. He is a right footed winger with 2 left feet. I would prefer Raheem over him.

Also Macca any news on Demspey?
I would of thought that deal would be closest and do you expect Andy to go?
Many Thanks
LFCHero ;)!

To those who want Amorbieta, have you seen him actually play or are you relying on YouTube? he is too rash and has injury problems worse than Agger, so that's not an upgrade, to those who say Godin, he is Uruguays answer to Piechnik(remember him, because I do!), so that's a bad move, Dont even mention Richards, Williams or Lescott, they are s***e.The only like for like replacement out there is Hummels and he is out of reach. Selling Agger is like a man with one leg cutting off his good leg to fund buying a false leg, it's just a pointless exercise which doesn't move him
forward and the same applies here.

13 Aug 2012 00:06:04
Thanks for the info Macca! I dont understand, if Agger does not want to join City then why is this happening? Any word of if Dempsey is still likely?
Thanks,
Josh

13 Aug 2012 00:08:42
Cheers for the info Macca

My thoughts...
1. Sahin close to signing. Great news, classy player will suit new style perfectly. However this must mean the end for Adam and Spearing. With Lucas, Stevie, Allen, Jonjo, Hendo and Nuri, we pretty much have it covered...2 for each spot in midfield.
2. If as you think Agger goes to Citeh with A Johnson in the deal, do you think we'll get another CB, and who do you think Macca? Shame if agger goes, just when he's getting it together, granted injury record etc but still. Whatever's best for club.
3. With Adam Johnson possibly coming in and chasing Walcott too, I personally see Cole going too. With Borini, Suarez, downing, Sterling then adding TW and AJ we will have some real pace & power at our disposal.
4. Which brings me on to Carroll. He's a good lad and wants it to work but with what I've seen in last 2 games, I just can't see it. The best solution would be for Newcastle to pay what's right (£18-20m) and take him home.w
5. I'd then use Adam as a makeweight in Demosey deal to 'replace' AC. Scored big time last season, got experience and will fit right in with BR style.

The only thing I've not covered is a CB but I'm sure this will become much clearer as the Agger situation develops.

Why sign agger when rodwell is arriving

13 Aug 2012 00:13:34
what's the latest on Tello? are we still in for him, and if not whos most likely to sign him

Oh FFS, I thought Agger was staying. Why do they want to sell our best players. This is crazy. Not happy in the slightest if it goes through. Not happy at all, especially making them stronger aswell. Well done FSG, well done!!

Gutted about agger but sahin, johnson and walcott or dempsey will come in but thats great news and i beleive aggers replacement will be better than him sorry daniel this is a business to the owners but ass long as lfc move forward its good suited to them!!

13 aug 2012 01:47:20
is the agger replacement going to be godin?

13 Aug 2012 01:47:52
Thanks Macca, Absolutely gutted over Agger. Certain players are irreplaceable in terms of like for like, Agger, Gerrard, Alonso, Barnes. Yeah you can still have a great team change things round but you wont get the same type of player... Gutted but onwards and upwards... lets hope the new player is as good in a different way and has a great partnership with Skrtel.

13 Aug 2012 01:49:21
I think we do need sahin, we're gonna be playing 4-3-3 and even with Allen signing were still short on quality IMO look at the options

Gerrard- poor injury record past few seasons

Lucas- just comeback from major injury so needs looking after so as not to re-occur.

Shelvey- good but not ready to first choice

Henderson- same as Shelvey

Adam- rubbish

Spearing- rubbish

Allen- only reliable cm with regards fitness but will likely take 5-10 games to find himself, no doubt he will though

Cole- past his best IMO but still able to do a job, offers nothing defensively though.

So yeah I would say we need sahin, I guess if we get Walcott and Johnson you play borini in a front 3 and get Luis to drop deeper and play the gerrard role if we was short for options, I think he could be quite devastating in that role too.

Cheers for the heads up Macca and thanks eds for all the hard work its appreciated.

Atb Gary

13 Aug 2012 01:58:44
First thanks for the update Macca. I can see both sides with regard to Agger but It is probably the smart thing to do. We have some good players ready or close to ready to step into that position such as Coates, Kelly, Sama and Wisdom. If both Agger and Skrtel stay it would hinder their development. It would definately be a shame as Agger seems a great bloke, but this is Football sometimes. Regarding the rest Sahin is a great player and would fit in well (but hopefully he won't hinder the development of Suso). So I suspect he would be a loan rather than a buy. Walcott I'm unconvinced about but give him a chance to prove himself. Johnson has undoubted ability and would give us more options in attack but again has a lot to prove. So all in all pretty chuffed in general if the above comes to pass. And all the best to Dagger if he leaves.

13 Aug 2012 01:59:05
I think losing Agger would be a big step back, even taking his injury record into consideration he's a top class centre half and I can't really think of a player who could replace him.

On a more positive note, Sahin would be a great addition.

Thanks a lot for the info, it's much appreciated.

Let's see what happens..

Curtiss

13 Aug 2012 01:59:32
Cheers Macca, personally I think if Liverpool get the deal they want from city they will use aggres love for lfc and get him to move on.
Cannot see us getting walcott and unless Carroll leaves. Might be wrong.
MPF

13 Aug 2012 02:18:17
Macca is that a loan or buy for Sahin?

and why buy get Johnson and Walcott with Downing already in our squad?

or is Walcott seen to be used centrally?

Any how it would be good if that would happen though with a good replacement for Agger, but remember we also have Coates who had an excellent game today (the goal wasn't his fault don't listen to the commentary, Sydney Sam turned Carragher).

Haych

13 Aug 2012 02:19:04
To those wondering about Sahin and his place in the puzzle, my opinion is that he might function as a deep lying playmaker. Also to those who believe we will have too many central midfielders, you have to see the difference in position and player roles. Gerrard is back in a more freed up attacking position now, which is excellent. Shelvey and Henderson will work as backups both there and in central midfield for Allen. Lucas and Sahin will sit deeper, but not necessarily at the same time. It is all about depth and options against different opposition. Adam hopefully out. Love Rodgers so far! And thank you Macca!

Sorry for the rant - pronin.

To those wondering where Sahin, Johnson, Walcott, Allen and Borini would all fit in; remember that we have sold Aquilani, Maxi and Kuyt as far as midfield goes (though I'm sure we'll sell a minimum of Adam and Cole too), we are playing in 4 competitions, and that Borini and Allen are only 21 and 22 respectively whilst Walcott and Sahin are 23. Rotation is a benefit to both club and players of that age and that kind of quality. Fingers crossed!

13 Aug 2012 02:23:45
Can't understand why we would want Adam Johnson if we are bidding for Walcott as they are both right wingers? Unless the plan is to play Theo as a striker?
All of this is ruined because of the need to sell one of our best players in order to buy? I love Agger and I am sure he does not want to really leave.
Thanks Macca everyone looks forward to your posts.

13 Aug 2012 02:26:47
personaly talked to agger on Friday night an he expects to sign a new deal.... Jord

This, in my opinion is just good business. When you never know whether or not agger is going to be fit for your next game, then £20+ mil and a player on top is delicious. As for walcott, Johnson and sahin, its rogers doing what he did so well at swansea, and that's bringing in players who've had a hard time at there past clubs, or never quite reached their potential, and getting the best out of them (Sinclair, borini, siggurdson, rangel, dyer, Graham etc.). If he can do what he did with those guys with walcott, sahin, Johnson as well as Henderson, Wilson, Carroll (if he stays), and others, then by all means sell agger, because we'll be better off, and more likely to be able to keep hold of coates, Kelly, wisdom etc, if and when they reach that level.

"It's begins a slippery slope to becomming Arsenal."

A slippery slope back into the CL and a new stadium?? I'll take that :D

13 Aug 2012 09:01:03
Thanks Macca :D

I would hate to see Agger go but if it means we move onward and upward as a club then it could be good...

rrrRedAlert

Selling agger is plain personic, we have the worst back up and the targets arnt up to much, i hate to say this but its 2 steps foward and 18 back, stability is the key

13 Aug 2012 13:29:17
Thanks Macca, we appreciate all your updates mate. Thanks for taking the time. I believe no player is irreplaceable, and this looks like a good deal for LFC. Just glad we're also looking abroad for talent now and not over-paying for British players like last year. Will be sad to see Agger go, but the club must progress, and we need to cash to do so.

If Agger does go ( I hope he doesn't ) it would not be good business to let him go to a rival EPL club.

Hello eds.LFC Fans too...

Well do you think we might sign Sahin?Well I would personally sign him but do you think we are interested in him?Well what are the chances if yes and also what is his wage?

Aneesh {Ed002's Note - Wage is irrelevant to these discussions but rumours do persist about his long term future. He has been angling for a move to AC Milan who are being cautious in the market or a return to Germany with Bayern Munich but there is no interest from them. A move to Besiktas has been rejected although Galatasaray would like to take him to Turkey. There is confirmed interest from Spurs, Inter, MIlan, Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United. Malaga also spoke to Madrid about the possibility of a loan. I understand that Miguel Pardeza would prefer to see a sale at an unrealistic price rather than a loan.}

Daniel Agger not included in the line up against Bayer Leverkusen....potentially significant. Could be off now then.
KiwiRed

Neither is skrtel Johnson borini so not a big deal.

And Joe Alan, Borini, Skrtel and Johnson, god alll of them leaving! Hes being rested him and GJ have always suffered injuries why risk him after thursday?!suppose Andy carrol is staying because hes on the bench to!

Neither is skrtel doesnt mean anything, its a friendly game. i believe agger will stay.

Mate chill out there are international friendlies in midweek. Could have something to do with it. Borini is not in the squad so does that mean anything?

Mighty reds

Resting a notoriuosly injury-prone player in a friendly ... yeah, very, very suspicious indeed. Very. Not.

Jesus Christ! If a Liverpool player farts nowadays you plonkers have got them leaving the club.

The Plank

Stevie G had a curry WITH garlic naan bread for tea 2 nights ago. He's off to Barcelona for £150m + Messi

Agreed with the above there is no Borini, Skrytel or Allen are all of them going?

Look gents, calm down. See how I used the word 'potentially'. I was merely making passing comment, he could be gone and he could stay. He could just be having a rest or he could be off. No need to have a go lads.
KiwiRed

Br has said that it's because he's injury prone

So were Skrtel and Borini, i guess they should be on their way pretty soon aswell then by your logic, BR has states clearly that Aggers fitness isnt 100% yet and only played thursday 90 mins

Borini and Glen Johnson must be off as well

12 Aug 2012 12:38:19
MCFC have had their FINAL bid for Agger turned down this morning. MCFC have pulled out of the deal, Agger will remain at LFC. The offer was £23m + Adam Johnson (probably on loan) but MCFC weren't ready to part with Adam Johnson. MCFC were working on 2 big deals - Rodwell and Agger. It seems that Rodwell is on the verge of joining but Agger is staying.

So the offer was £23 + Johnson but City weren't prepared to part with Johnson...eh?

Misschinandlerbong

If they made an offer of £23m + AJ; why would they then say no AJ in the deal?

Hoola

Isn't AGGER cup tied now? after featuring in the europa qualifier ? or may be im wrong .

if im not then agger, suarez ,sterling are going nowhere.

carroll, adam and may be cole are the ones to be shown the door.

If they want Rodwell I hope they've got a good medical team and insurance policy because if posters here think Agger's injury prone check out Jack Rodwell's sick record.

The Plank

Am guessing he meant 23m + Johnson on loan.

That must be the famous sneaky bid.

Good guess but prob wrong . rodwell bit was on a website thats where u got that from

Im happy with that, keep one of the worlds best defenders, and get Theo in,keeps a stable defence, and pace in the wings !!

This has come from a Twitter account that was created only 3 days ago - nonsense

Please sell jay spearing...please, please, please

Ridiculous post. happy that nothing concrete has come up about agger leaving. would love him to stay. and would much rather have schürrle (wishful thinking) than johnson. we'd be getting much more for less.

12 Aug 2012 12:01:23
hello!
ed's is there better possibility of T. Wlcott or Gaston Ramirez? both would be just perfect, but ain't gonna happen.

cheers Luka {Ed052's Note - Better chance of Theo}

Surely wenger would ask for 12-18m for theo, whilst gaston would cost 16-18m and has more potential for profit if we sell him on, i also think he is a much better footballer!

lack93

I hope we dont get theo! hes not consistant and thats wot BR is looking for! also his final ball is terrible! a bit like downing! awesome on the wing but cant deliver a cross

Yes but Liverpool aren't going to play with natural wingers this season, that's why Carroll is leaving, we're going to to get a few inside forwards who can inter-change during the game like Borini and Suarez. Walcott would be perfect for that as he wants to play a more central role.
Irishdom15

Pity, I would rather have Gaston.

Would love too see walcott at anfield runs with his head down no final ball dont score enough goals defo lfc quality

Ed. Any chance of a new signing this week? And who are the 'loan' targets from abroad? {Ed052's Note - Yes. Sahin and Affelay are possibilities as is Tello. }

Eds Think Tello is most likely to come in this week

Mkdlfc {Ed052's Note - No. Affelay I probably more likely than him. }

Why dont we sign mertens for 13M hes the best options for that pos.

Sahin looks like he d be very good

According to a very reliable source in the north east, Andy Johnson is going on loan to Sunderland, he wants guarenteed playing time and to be closer to his family.

Northern Red

Dont know what he was doin joining QPR so
5gold stars

Pretty sure you mean Adam. So probably BS!

I thought Andy Johnson had signed for Qpr already? If your going to make up a rumour, Atleast get the names right!

Adam Johnson I mean before any smart arse comments!! {Ed052's Note - Haha}

Assume you mean Adam Johnson as Andy is already at QPR..?

Sunderland have james mclean and seb larrson on either side of midfield so johnson unlikely....their priority is a striker

I think u mean Adam johnson

Ed is it true that Man city have put in their final bid for agger and it was rejected?
Cheers {Ed002's Note - I have no idea - I am guessing Twitter this morning. It is typically quite unusual for bids to be made on a Sunday morning.}

Could be true as Man city have also had a bid accepted for Jack Rodwell today.

Deals can be done on a Sunday. Rodwell to Citeh happening today.

Diego Perotti of Sevilla ha emerged as a possibility with BR switch his interest from walcott to the la liga player. Watch this space!!!

We were linked with him a while back, he's class. Hope this happens.

But if I watch this space later, won't I just see some other post? :P Hope there's truth to this though.

Hi Ed's and fellow Reds. I posted a couple of weeks ago regarding Clint Dempsey and the fact that Fulham told Clint not to travel to training camp. I have again spoke with the Fulham player I know (again I will not mention his name) and he has told me. No news on move to Liverpool. He has told club that clint wants Liverpool move and has told Fulham owners and Jol. Clint is no longer talking with Fulham staff and is training in Afternoons on his own. My Friend has said if this move happens it will be very last minute as Fulham will do everything possible to make this move stall and make it uncomfortable for the club he moves too. It all depends if Liverpool will wait. Passing on what i've been told. Will keep you all informed as I get more info. LEE YNWA.

If Dempsey is that unprofessional they can just keep him.

He is training on his own due to Fulham making him train on his own. He is a very proffesional Player. Fulham being the child in all this. I'd take him at Liverpool. Lee YNWA.

12 Aug 2012 10:03:08
Ed im sure I know the answer but will ask anyway. With Sami now bossing Leverkusen dont you think it would be a great opportunity for us to loan and blood youngsters with them in a similar league at the same level.
And a brillian insight and relationship with a manager and scouting system in another country.Because lets face it Germany have a great youth setup second probably only to Spains.

Kopping a feel {Ed002's Note - I would not be at all surprised if such a thing happened. And it is possible to send more than one to a club in Germany, which would no doubt help them settle.}

If we are doing this we need to do what the Germans are doing and scout in the J-league and other Asian leagues..there are some quality players there waiting to be picked up for pennies. Look at Takashi Inui Dortmund paid £500,000 for him and less than £300,000 for Kagawa.

Renato Augusto yes pls

Stephen Sama should go to Germany to develop, Lverkusen brings in young players and develops them into top top players. look at their RB and two CB are all 23 and have been playing regularly since they were 19-20

As you said, the two leagues are on very similar levels and Bayer finished 5th last season. To be honest, our youngsters wouldn't get in the first team there.

So then Ed...what would be the upside here for Bayer Leverkusen ? firstly, if our young players aren't good enough to be starting for us, what makes people think they would be for Bayer in a technically superior league like the German Bundesliga ? secondly, why would Bayer source and develop excellent young players and then act as a feeder club for liverpool ? {Ed002's Note - You don't really understand the loan system and the concept of a "feeder" club I guess. Loans are used in many leagues, and clubs like Chelsea have used clubs in Germany for loans for a number of years. Another example saw Liverpool send Pacheco to Spain last year. Leverkusen already agreed to take a Brazilian player on loan this year - I don't recall his name right now.}

12 Aug 2012 08:57:56
This is the latest from Anfield...

The possibilty of another 10m-20m signing is depending on some movements.
Agger to city, Johnson the other way plus cash
Carrol to Newcastle, Ba the other way plus cash but not a great deal, this would then release funds to sign a top notch defender...no names confrimed but a few in the pipeline...Dempsey wants to go to Liverpool but at 10m its a no go...apparently Fulham have dropped to 8m so its not closed yet

Sounds like someone is just guessing whats gonna happen and doesnt kmow anything...

Pure guesswork - no way Ba is worth anywhere near AC. And why would we want Adam Johnson, most definitely no improvement onwhat we have.

John B

Wish people would stop going on about agger leaving, if signing new players depends on him being sold i would rather keep him and take a chance with what we already have

One Agger doesn't want to go and the fact the boss doesn't want to let him go means he 99% wont be moving, also why would we want Johnson he has a terrible attitude, rather have Theo any day, at least he would want to play for the club he supports and would really try.

Pure guesswork - no way Ba is
worth anywhere near AC. And
why would we want Adam
Johnson, most definitely no
improvement onwhat we have. John B

For your kind information, Ba scored 17 league goals last season while Donkey Carroll scored only 4. That's more than square the amount of goals scored by Ba. I suggest you do some research before posting such utter rubbish! I'm not saying that, Ba would be an awesome signing but the truth is he's far better than Donkey Carroll.

THE SUMON VAI

We don't want Ba we want Walcott

we don't need Johnson he is Downing and very much a one trick pony, left footed plays on the right ALWAYS cuts in on his left.

plus if we do go after Walcott then we won't go after Johnson as they play in the same position, as does Downing.

That's right Toon will give you a proven goal scorer plus cash for Carroll! ,give your head a shake mate ,lol.

Hi Eds, with all the speculation over sahin and the recent signing of joe allen, i think our interests in CMs is nowhere near as imperative as signing 1-2 versatile wing players to play in rodgers rotating attacking 3. personally of all the players i've watched over the past 6 months i think the perfect player would be nico gaitan, absolutely unreal quality. who do you guys believe we have interest in/are likely to sign? cheers and keep up the great work, South Aussie Red {Ed002's Note - You need to read the posts to see who may be signed and where the interest is. I am perhaps not as confident of others regarding where Shain will end up. As for Gaitan, Manchester United and Barcelona both showed interest in the winger but Inter PSG or Napoli may be the first to eventually put an offer on the table for Gaitan. My understanding is that Manchester United and PSG did speak with Benfica in January but no bid was made. I understand that it remains the case that Benfica are aware of sustained interest and are aware that Inter Milan and possibly Liverpool are now looking at the player. Asking price is and will continue to be an issue. If Manchester United can agree a price I am told that the player would welcome the move. Napoli are actively seeking a replacement for Lavezzi and still may return for Gaitan or Ramirez.}

Hi ed(s). I was wondering if you knew why Barca want to.sell tello. He looks like a great talent, he seems to want to stay snd Barcelona don't need to sell so why are they? {Ed002's Note - Barcelona have no immediate plans for the player under the new manager. I understand that there remains a slim chance of a loan deal to Ajax as part of a deal for another player but I suspect he will leave rather than head to the B team. My understanding is that general enquiries about the player's availability have been made by Porto, Seville, Malaga and Liverpool. Discussions about loans of one type or another have been raised by Valencia, Ajax and Atletico Madrid. I also understand that Benfica have now made a proposal to Barcelona - but I don't know what it is. So there is clear interest from Liverpool.}

Liverpool officials are said to be meeting the player and other targets in spain this weekend.
Barca tend to put buy back clauses in their young players contracts, so it can effectively be a loan they receive money for immediately if no progress is made the player doesn't return. They do this to allow players to gain experience elsewhere and with the quality of barcas wingers it's unlikely he'd develop much there due to limited game time.
Cap

To be honest, everytime I have seen Tello play (probably only a handful of games) he likes to attack the wingbacks and take it to the byline. With Barcelona's style of play this would surrender possession quite often. Probably why they want to let him go, just a possible reason.

Hello eds and fellow lfc fans.

I wanted to know whether we have made a bid for Rennes's Yann M'villa?Atleast are we interested in him?Rennes have reported that they have got a concrete offer for him from an english club but it is not Arsenal who do you think it is?

Aneesh {Ed002's Note - The bid is from Spurs.}

If spurs are interested they must have heard we are

We go for allen spurs go for mvila round about the same pricetag. We are never going to kearn we really arent. No excuses if spurs bid they are not in champs league either so to me i want to know why we always by overpriced players we seem to stay away from all the talent. We buy borini 11m allen 15m thats mvila affelay and mirralas crazy crazy

I think he has rejected it now...

CITY given the green light by owner to match Liverpool asking price of £27m for AGGER.
Mankini my try to use AJ as part of the deal knocking £12m off!

redman

I would run away with 15 million and AJ if i were BR

I'd rather have Micah Richards than Johnson - along with £18 to £20 million

Mancini does not do City's transfers. In the past it was Gary Cook and now it's Brian Marwood

£27m plus Lescott or Toure makes more sense to me, we have a straight replacement for Agger then plus cash to improve rest of the squad.

£15 million + Johnson (permanently) for Agger is a deal which sadly is a good one. Hopefully if we get Johnson we end our interest in Walcott - he is the most consistent inconsistent player i know.. just get Dempsey for more firepower and Coates can cover for Agger.

I'd rather have Micah Richards than Johnson - along with £18 to £20 million

----------------------------------
I think Richards is worth far more than Johnson. We might be lucky to do a straight swap given the fact Richards is young, a top perfromer and English.

Dan

I agree take 12-15 mil plus johnson cos the 12-15 mil we could get godin but i still think we need another forward

I would rather have Agger.

Mankini....i love it

2xboo

What would we want Johnson for? Can't see him fitting in with how Rodgers wants to play. He is too greedy and lazy for a start.

Its not only the player being sold its the partnership of our two CB being broke up if its not broke then why should we even consider this crap we all know fine well how hard it is to replace a working pair in defence . I say do one mancini and co.

gee man

Much rather keep Agger

Seriously don't understand how any of you guys think that any of Lescott/Richards/Kolo Toure plus cash is a good deal?? Lescott is a terrible footballer, Richards is awful at centre back(Mancini won't play him there is that not proof?), as for Kolo Toure he is well past his best. As for Adam Johnson, no thanks he already turned us down for a bucket load of cash from city and all he has proved is that he is a top class piss head and we already have 3 over priced piss heads from the north east, don't need another one thanks. Plus Webuyanyplayer.com have already changed their focus to Jack Rodwell, we would b better placed getting shot of Joe Cole, Spearing, Adam and Henderson.

If that was true, which i doubt. I would rather take Richards and Guidetti and a certain amount of money. But only if it's worthwhile. si

We would never take a player plus deal when we could get £27 MILLION for a player.

Deals will be done this week involving Liverpool FC and 2 BBVA La Liga teams.....

May be announced this week maybe next week.

Afellay//Tello//Sahin....only 2 of the 3.

The AnfieldMoles Ears

If youd have just said 'teams from
Spain' or 'Spanish teams' I'd have NEVER believed you...

But seems you say 'BBVA La Liga teams!!', you must be well in!

Nonsense.

I didn't think moles had ears?

Do Moles have ears?...This one does...

Don't let the name fool you. This is what I know for a fact.

The AnfieldMoles Ears

All them players are way out of our league, never mind though chaps we've got Allen and Dempsey in the bag. GN99

Inter about to bid for Walcott, don't know how much. Could this start a bidding war between us and Inter ed's?

Reddie

Not being mean to Walcott, but why would inter bid for him?

We haven't even made an approach for Walcott and getting into a bidding war would be insane considering Walcott's limitations.

The Plank

No need for war. Inter can have him, he is one dimensional and also s***.

Are you sure guys? I had the same opinion before last season. But after watching a few games with Arsenal last season I noticed that he had many assists for RVP. His speed is out of this world and that's exactly what we are looking for right? Pace

Liverpool officials landed in Madrid today to discuss the possibility of getting Nuri Sahin on loan.

Arsenal is another club who is interested in taking Sahin on loan and will battle Liverpool for his transfer.

Though it is believed Brendon Rodgers good terms with Jose Mourinho will help Liverpool in dealing.

It is reported that Fulham have dropped their asking price for Clint Dempsey.

Initially they were holding for £10m, but now they have dropped it to £8m.

Dempsey has set his heart on a move to a=Anfield and have told Fulham officials that he wants to go.

But it was £10m asking price that was the problem.

Rumours on twitter claims that Clint Dempsey was spotted in Liverpool today.

If madrid let sahin join arsenal that might free up alex song to join barcelona..dont really think mourinho would want barca to get stronger would he?
much better option would be to loan sahin to liverpool and get modric in his place..
on another note, is liverpool's interest in kevin mirallas real ? would be a good addition in the front 3 to replace bellamy and the outgoing joe cole.. {Ed029's Note - I don't believe there is currently any interest from Liverpool in Kevin}

If you believe that "good terms" between BR and the special big head will make any difference and secure us a cheap transfer deal you're a grade 1 dimwit.

The Plank

Mourinho could be his brother it still doesn't stop the fact the player has to agree to go on loan, mourinho will allow you to have talks with the player. He can't force which team he goes 2

Posted last night that Sahin would be the next signing. I was wrong, listened to the wrong people. Seems that he's only an option if Dempsey doesn't sign, which is looking more and more likely. Billy Mc.

Sahin us still a target.

Why?they play in different positions

Thats like sayng we will only Walcott is an option if Agger leaves.

Walcott is trying to force through a move to Liverpool by asking for wages which he knows full well they will not pay. He is completely disillusioned with the way Wenger wants him to play and has his heart set on coming to Anfield. He'll cost a few quid, probably more than most people would like, but that's for the owners, not me, to worry about. Arsenal are hard to negotiate with. (Ask David Gill, he's agreed a £25m deal for RVP and giving him £200,000 a week, medical to take place early this week.) Billy Mc.

Waclott would cost around £14-£16m on about 90k pw - 110k pw + a £2m signing on fee.

Most probably they will try to get back the money they invested in Santi Carzola which was £16m. meaning that we would have spent around £18m on walcott.

ED where is cavani going this summer or is he stayin at napoli? {Ed002's Note - Napoli are in discussions with Chelsea.}

Anyone else think Chelsea are going for a team of 11 attackers?

Anyone else think football is ruined by clubs like Chelsea, City, PSG etc?

ChrisMiz

I doubt Cavani will end up at Chelsea this summer. I've said before on this site that when he leaves Napoli, which might not be this summer, it will be for Real Madrid.
-Ry

I'll second that. Eds do you think this is bad news for Torres? {Ed049's Note - No.}

Chelsea don't have 11 attackers, even with Cavani I can only make 8. Its not exactly unusual to have three strikers in a team as well and if torres is poor again then he will be a necessity.

Rowan

Chelsea want everyone i absolutely hate everything that club stands for! Like they even need cavani. They bought that lukaku to sit on the bench peeling oranges. They won't win nothing this year anyway in my opinion and it's not about inviduals it's a team game. They buy players for the sake of it so nobody else can have them. Same with man city and psg. Greedy c***s!

We could be so lucky. If cavani goes to RM it might free up Higuain to come to LFC.

JKell

It's because of douchebag clubs like Chelsea and man city that prices quoted by the selling clubs for players that English clubs are interested in are always over inflated!

Dont be so naive,,,in football..anything can happen..but thats true..the clubs like city, chavski, and psg are ruining the football world stability..

IsaacGenius..Y.N.W.A

Seriously doubt that Cavani would come to the UK after the booing of the Uruguay national anthem at Wembley, I think the only clubs any Uruguayan would consider in England is us and we're in no position to sign Cavani so it's Madrid or PSG for him... {Ed029's Note - Sadly the booing was aimed more at Suarez. Trust Ed002 - there is a good chance that Cavani could go to Chelsea}

They won't win nothing? So you think they will win something? F a cup always a good bet for Chelsea

JKell would you complaining if we had that sort of money i think NOT.

Not sure if anyone remembers but last season liverpool spent 72 million on three players, chelsea have spent so far 65 million on four players.. so why everyone is slating them i dont know.
