Has any interest been shown from Liverpool in Kevin Volland of Hoffenheim?

Believable12 Unbelievable17

{Ed002's Note - No.}

I reckon that Benteke would be great for LFC

Have Liverpool shown any interest in Aleksander Mitrovic? His stats look great for last season and could work well with Markovic if signed.

I've been told Liverpool trying to secure deal for Alexandre Pato for €15m. Have you heard anything on this eds and is this connected with Rodgers trip to Brazil?
Cheers

Do Liverpool have any interest in Adem Ljajic?

Believable5 Unbelievable23

{Ed002's Note - No.}

12 Jul 2014 19:57:56
Edn, Is there any interest in Max Clayton, didn't we show interest in him last year, and isn't he out of contract?

Believable6 Unbelievable18

{Ed002's Note - Not that I know of.}

Hopefully not being from Sandbach (next door to Crewe) all he cares about is money, he's not that great and his attitude towards Crewe Alex has been disgusting

Hi Ed's,

When asked re Lovren signing in his recent Q&A James Pearce said we are looking at other CB's should we fail to sign Lovren though he is our #1 target.

Any idea who we are looking at?

Many thanks
baddada

Believable8 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - Hectore Moreno was certainly considered but he is no longer an option (and became a figure of hate for thye so called fans here). Martin Hinteregger was looked at a while back and it has been suggested he might be an option. Then again, Liverpool has Ilori already. A deal can probably be done for Lovren but there is interest from Spurs as well.}

I have a vision of Ilori that he'll hopefully be moulded into a CDM. He's got pace and defensive nous for such a role. Hope it happens with us.

Agree4 Disagree1

Thank you Ed

Agree1 Disagree1

Hi Eds

Top job!

How do you see Ilori's potential as a first class defender. Does he have the ability to be world class in your opinion?

Agree2 Disagree0

13 Jul 2014 06:41:44
Moreno would've been great. We're talking about the Mexican fella right? :) Looked really composed and athletic at the World Cup. Some people just like a whinge I guess :( Love you Ed002 funny as you know the word :)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - He is injured now.}

12 Jul 2014 18:46:55
Hello eds, do you think we are going in for Bertrand as the cheaper option on Moreno because we are going to possibly pay extra money for Lovren?

Believable6 Unbelievable13

{Ed002's Note - No - the interest in Ryan Bertrand has been sustained and I have told you repeatedly about it. If Liverpool can agree a price with Chelsea and a package with the player then I am sure a deal can happen. It is nothing to do with Lovren.}

Cool thanks for the reply

Agree1 Disagree1

12 Jul 2014 19:42:47
i think we should get ryan bertrand and micah richards for lb and rb get rid of glen johnson and enrique happy days for wingbacks then just need a world class cb not lovren mid table player

Agree1 Disagree6

@DanCad, so Lovren is a midtable player and Bertrand and Micah Richards are top quality? Or is your post just joking?

Agree4 Disagree0

Bertrand would be cool. Young but with Champions League experience and looked handy when ever I've seen him for Chelsea (Admittedly not for a while) Brendan's worked with him before so all good.

Agree2 Disagree0

12 Jul 2014 18:31:12
Reading some devastating news.
Liverpool in talks with Chelsea for Bertrand and a deal is close for £8.5m.
Just shocking horrible news. Can only hope it's a signing to improve the reserve squad

Believable12 Unbelievable51

{Ed002's Note - Why not get a hate campaign going against the new players who you have a problem with (like Lallana) and prospective players like Bertrand? Perhaps take the opportunity to start forcing Rodgers out of the club?}

I will support anyone who joins Liverpool however I agree that Bertrand is not a signing that would change and help our back 4.

Agree1 Disagree1

12 Jul 2014 18:46:59
With regards to Bertrand, if this was last summer (or the previous summer) we would all be very happy because he looked a fantastic prospect. It was only where last season Mourinho didn't fancy him at the beginning and Azpilicueta form was excellent and then he went on loan to a struggling club and therefore didn't have a realistic chance of impressing. (He was one of their better players anyway).

Therefore with Rodgers tuition, he should prosper and We know a Rodgers knows him well from his time at Chelsea. Yes he's not a 'Moreno' type signing but we all need to trust Rodgers and just remember, although Flanagan is the proposed future right back, if we keep Wisdom or Kelly we will have Johnson at those with Flanagan and Smith + Bertrand at LB. This means he might not even be first choice and will fight with Smith in the future.

Agree1 Disagree1

What is the problem with Bertrand? Seems professional, talented keen an eager sounds like sturridge and coutinho type of signing if it happens. Give him a chance. He certainly has the physical ability and technically looks sound the rest is for the coaches to sort out

Agree1 Disagree2

12 Jul 2014 18:51:12
Devastating news? Overreaction at it's best.

I am not the biggest fan of Bertrand either but really, this just sounds like pure hate. Sorry man, really poor post.

Agree3 Disagree2

12 Jul 2014 18:51:35
I think he is a good plater tbh. Decent, solid defender, good at going forward good stamina. Don't understand why our own fans trash potential or current players its a joke.

Are things getting closer Ed?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Measured how?}

Crunch come on mate. Remember the last 23/24 year old we signed from Chelsea? Bertrand, like Sturridge looked excellent at youth level and just never got a shot in the first team as a regular. Whenever he came in he was brilliant though (Champions league final experience and winner!). Don't judge him on the fact he couldn't get a game at a club notorious for wasting players careers (Wright-Phillips, Sturridge etc).

Also, don't judge him on 16 games for Aston Villa who could make Varane look like a bad defender with there lack of desire and organisation!

Bertrand will be a great signing, a rare occurrence of actual value for money in the modern game and will prove a lot of people wrong very fast.

If I'm wrong and he has still not proven himself after a couple of seasons here, by all means judge him, but not before he's ecen signed without explaining thevreason for your opinion. I but you've seen him in less than 3/4 games.

Agree8 Disagree0

12 Jul 2014 18:55:55
If this is true crunch you need to start supporting the manager and the players he buys. Bertrand is a decent player and Rodgers will hopefully improve him further. don't be so naive as "fans" like you give Liverpool fans a bad name!

Agree3 Disagree0

Why pipe up slagging players you know nothing about? Bertrand clearly isn't the next roberto carlos or jordi alba but if you ever took the time to watch the lad play you would know he is a solid left back who rarely gets beaten 1 on 1, has very good positional sense and is quick in both short and long bursts.

I could see Moreno as another Glan Johnson who comes up with some great attacking displays from time to time but will cost us countless goals as he cannot defend. Bertrand will make us a much better defensive outfit but is athletic and technical enough to help us going forward also.

Agree3 Disagree0

@Crunch take a seat mate and leave the comments to the true LFC fans. Bertrand is a good young player who obviously isn't our first choice but is PL ready and knows what it means to play for big teams in big games - he's played in a CL final - how many players can say that? What's more Buck Rodgers has worked with him before and obviously rates him highly enough. And one final point - he hasn't even signed yet!

Agree4 Disagree0

Oh let's spend 20 odd million on an unproven Lb who might not be able to hack the Premiership! We have Brad Smith who is probably similar to Moreno but never got the first team opportunities.

Bertrand signing is a no brainer to me.

Agree5 Disagree1

We are just sick of buying mediocre players over the last 20 odd years, if the fans know they're not good enough then so should the powers that be, the Liverpool fans are more often right than wrong on this subject.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - You need to force the manager and owners out. You need a sustained campaign of execration showing how you and your hate filled chums feel about them. Maybe a kidnapping would work?}

By the way lfc brazil djimi troare played in a champions league final, says it all

Agree0 Disagree0

"Just shocking horrible news"

Not half as shocking or embarrassing as your post pal.

Agree1 Disagree0

Why?i like both Lallana and Rodgers, where have I said I don't?
Just don't want poor quality Bertrand and at over inflated £8m+

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - You don't think Lallana is worth what the club paid. Rodgers is responsible for these players.}

Hang in there, Ed! It might not help you but please rest assured there are a lot of posters and LFC fans that are nothing like these abusive lot. I read a lot of this rubbish daily but I also read a lot more really good and well mannered stuff from our frequent posters. We get sick to the stomach and ashamed when we see this stuff and hear of the vile stuff that is sent to our owners and family on Twitter under the name of LFC supporters.

It would be nice to have a cleansing of the gene pool but until that day, have patience with us my friend.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Nobody is suggesting all of the fans are like this.}

Guys I'm a true fan don't question that. As much as you've all jumped on me for my post, which admittedly was over the top, not one of you is
A. Looking forward to the signing
B. Think he is good enough
C. Know that he is not 1st, 2nd maybe even 3rd choice

But hey, you're all happy to just accept it. Wonder why we haven't won the title for this long? We now and then accept crap, crap than none of our main rivals would entertain.
I will assume most will have Bertrand on their shirts when he signs?

Agree0 Disagree4

Crunch

Stick to playing FIFA, let the club handle the transfers and give the players a chance before you send them to the scrap heap. Bertrand has bags of potential, is English and is an improvement on what we have.

Agree3 Disagree0

In my opinion Bertrand is a decent player but he is no better than decent and I don't think he'll ever be brilliant. It's our weakest position in the team and I don't see him as an improvement on what we have so I'd much prefer to sign no LB rather than Bertrand.

Smith, Flanagan, Johnson, Can, Enrique. We have plenty of players who I would consider capable of covering the position. A top left back would be brilliant but Bertrand isn't a top left back.

And in terms of the price, if he was another nationality I reckon he'd be about £3.5m rather than £8.5m.

Agree1 Disagree1

Is ..............

Agree5 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - You have done nothing but troll this site and abused players and posters. It is a pity your father wasn't the wanker you clearly are.}

I think people are complaining for the sake of complaining to be honest. Personally, I feel paying anything over 17 mil for a full back is a bit ridiculous. Balance is the key to the team and from what I've seen of Betrand I honestly would not mind him. let's be fair, regardless of how woeful Djimi was, if you can finish in the top 4 and win a champions league final with him to me anyway indicates that a team can get away with having 'an average' full back. Look at Flanagan as well for an example, he even as well says he isn't the most gifted footballer, but he has never let the team down and he can surely only improve. CB's are more of a priority considering how woeful LFC were from set pieces. Jose Enrique is back this season with a point to prove, so maybe Betrand is being signed for depth, as opposed to Moreno's astronomical price. I bet half the people on here haven't even seen much of Moreno but are saying they want him. Rodgers is a boss and I have the utmost faith in him. Very astute. ah **** it. what the hell do I know

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Jul 2014 23:24:03
How is this "devastating?" It's shocking that you call yourself a fan of Liverpool and slate the players before they put on a shirt. And by the way, I, for one, am excited about the prospect of signing Bertrand.

Agree0 Disagree0

How is this "devastating?" It's shocking that you call yourself a fan of Liverpool and slate the players before they put on a shirt. And by the way, I, for one, am excited about the prospect of signing Bertrand.

Agree1 Disagree0

Devastating news?! Have a word with yourself. The only reason you're saying that is because he's English and not a foreign wonder kid signing. Have you actually watched Moreno or A N Other or Bertrand? Just because Moreno is a Spanish signing doesn't mean he's any better! Bertrand is a decent played with PL experience. Would Moreno automatically fit to our system and style? Who knows. I trust Brendan Rodgers to know over you. Support the players at least you person!

Agree1 Disagree0

Agreed Elsimonero. For as much as we all know about Moreno. which I suggest for the majority is minimal, Bertrand was undoubtedly the second string for Chelsea ala Sturridge(a championship winning team) pre Azpilicueta. If they had faith in him as backup to Ashley (arguably the best left back England have ever had), and given the game time IMO he could be a very shrewd signing.

Agree0 Disagree0

So long as he wants to play for the shirt that's the first thing. Development is second. The rest is future history on which to judge

Agree0 Disagree0

Alright, I for one agree that Liverpool fans are overly critical. But there is something to be said for paying over the odds for British players for the sake of British players. And as for standing by anyone that wants to sign, what about the likes of konchesky? Should we be faithful to him because he wants to play for us? The simple fact is that we need to be making quality signings. I have every bit of faith in Rodgers but I think everyone can admit, our transfer record is more bad than good looking back at the past decade. And honestly we as fans worry about the finances of our club. We don't want to waste the money like Chelsea and city and just buy big names. And we don't want an endless cycle of players in and out. We stand by our youth and by those that are loyal to the club and have quality. Its why people praise the likes of kuyt when even after they leave because he's a good solid classy player. And I believe it is perfectly acceptable to be less than excited about a 24 year old left back who has failed thus far to break into the first team and excel. If he does great we'll all be eating our words but 8.5 million is a huge risk to take. And that is what people are saying. just in more harsh words

Agree1 Disagree0

Allow people their opinion/s without trying to enforce or impose one's own. If someone thinks Bertrand is shockingly bad, then let the players performances do the talking. Sink or swim.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jul 2014 06:42:06
Class Ed002 are you single? You man eater lol

Agree1 Disagree0

13 Jul 2014 06:43:07
Some people on here are a bit harsh. I mean its not as if its their money. A young English footballer with Champions League and Premier League experience, what's not to like about that? One of the Eds put up a really interesting post about payments relating to transfers a little while ago and while I don't personally care about the money it was interesting to see all the potential add ons involved in a buying or indeed selling a player.

How when taking all that into account anyone even bothers worrying what a players abilities/capabilities are worth seems meaningless. Everyone is entitled to an opinion but surely the rational thing to do is reach an informed decision based on physical evidence and maybe concern yourselves less with other peoples money. Still love you Ed002

12 Jul 2014 17:56:54
hi eds. any updates regarding illori? any clues if Rodgers is planning to give him more games this coming season? cheers

Believable13 Unbelievable6

{Ed002's Note - Expect a loan.}

He seems to have had a good season on loan, he looks like an Agger/Hanson style CB who can bring the ball out of defence and has a lot of pace to go with it. The only problem he apparently has is his attitude

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Jul 2014 13:50:11
Ed002, karim benzema only has one year left on his contract, do you think we may target him as a possible suarez replacement?

Believable18 Unbelievable28

{Ed002's Note - Possibly but the length of his contract is not of any relevance.}

Eds two questions on Benzema:
Falcao is set to join Madrid which would leave Benzema available for a transfer wouldn't it?
And do you see Benzema having any interest in joining Liverpool or would it depend completely on big money being offered?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea whether he would be interested or not.}

13 Jul 2014 06:42:25
Ed002 do you know Benzema? Its just if you don't then I'm pretty sure the post above is asking you to read his mind which is scaring me a little

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Jul 2014 13:50:00
Hi Ed002,
we get focused on offensive players because of Suarez transfer. But it is the defence that needs to be sorted out, yet we hear not much of it. Any news on possible defenders on the way in and those on the way out? thanks.

Believable14 Unbelievable6

{Ed002's Note - You are right that the focus must change to the defence. The interest remains in Lovren and Liverpool have enquired with Chelsea again about Bertrand.}

Personally I would prefer we pursued Rojo than Bertrand. Rojo is full international player already and will be one of the best left backs in the world. He has got a full world cup under his belt and would not cost much more than Bertrand.

Hi eds
Caught Offside (I know!) have said that lfc are in advanced talks with chelsea over r lukaku. Do they just make this up or do they know something that you don't?

Cheers

Believable8 Unbelievable35

Ed are Everton or Wolfsburg leading the chase for him do you know? would of loved him at Pool going to be a great player.

12 Jul 2014 12:57:21
Hi Ed002,
please tell me, if you can, Liverpool will not look to replace Suarez with one of Benzema, Remy or Bony.

Believable7 Unbelievable10

{Ed002's Note - Nothing will be decided about the future of Benzema until a replacement for him arrives. As I have explained, Liverpool has not approached Swansea about Bony. I am not aware of Liverpool making any efforts to sign Remy.}

12 Jul 2014 13:48:17
We have not spoke to Swansea about Bony. Jesus it just shows you how wrong all the Papers and other sites are doesn't it. For 3 days all we've heard is we are in talks with him and its all crap lol.

Agree1 Disagree0

There will be a lot of that Des. We got money to burn and the papers have got rock all to write about.

12 Jul 2014 20:02:34
Ed002, if we have not spoken to Swansea about Bony as you think, who do you think we are going to sign then?

There doesn't seem to be much insight other than no

Inter Milan want Lucas
Twente & Genoa want Assaidi
Wolves & Shefield Utd want Coady
Porto is the only club with an offer for Suso so far. Liverpool want more than the € 5 million offer.
Juventus were interested in Agger earlier in the window not sure if they still are.
Newcastle & Westham both enquired Borini earlier in the window and was quoted £ 14 million so they are looking elsewhere
Wisdom is wanted by Leicster and Burnley

Hi Eds, So is there any interest in Mateo Musacchio from us? Great player.

Believable8 Unbelievable5

{Ed002's Note - Mateo Musacchio has attracted the attention of Fiorentina, Manchester City, Liverpool, Manchester United and AC Milan over the past 18 months. He would be very expensive to buy.}

How come he never made the Argentine squad for the world cup? Is he injured or just viewed as not good enough?

Thank you Eds.
He's certanly better than Demichelis.

With rumours about Lukaku wanting out of Chelsea, what's the odds of us having a bid and getting him?

Believable7 Unbelievable20

{Ed002's Note - It is Chelsea wanting rid of Lukaku not the other way around. Liverpool has not shown any interest in him and talks are progressing with another club - so chances are slim to none.}

12 Jul 2014 19:28:45
Gotta be an Athleti replacement. I could see him there after Costa moving.

{Ed002's Note - Mandzukic has already completed a move there.}

How's it going eds,

Just wondering if any keepers are being scouted as I remember someone saying a keeper could be bought.

As I see Cech could be available could we be interested?

Thanks.

Believable3 Unbelievable22

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool has made no approach for Petr Cech.}

Cech for me would be an outstanding signing but won't happen. I don't think he has Been at his best since his face injury but he is still for me in the top 5 keepers in the world. He wishes to move to either Spain, Germany or Italy.

Baz

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Cech has said nothing about leaving and only one club is showing and interest - and they are not from any of those countries. Chelsea would like him to stay one more year.}

Do you think before posting? this post has infuriated me far more than it should have. why would he go to liverpool?

Agree1 Disagree0

12 Jul 2014 10:39:08
Eds, do you think we will sign Bony? Thanks

Believable6 Unbelievable17

{Ed002's Note - My understanding is that Liverpool has not made any approach for Bony at this time.}

Okay thanks a lot ed

Agree1 Disagree0

I would like Bony to come. I think he I'd strong and has a great eye for goal. Given the chance at a higher level(no disrespect to Swansea) I think he could thrive. We are going to struggle to find a replacement for Suarez, who wouldn't but I think Bony could do a great job for us.

Baz

Agree0 Disagree2

Is he a player that Liverpool are interested in?

1. Have Sunderland made a bid for Borini?

2. Are Chelsea reluctant to sell Bertrand to LFC.

3. Are LFC preparing another bid for Lovren?

Believable3 Unbelievable4

{Ed002's Note - (1) As far as I know, not yet. (2) No and Liverpool has spoken to Chelsea about him. (3) I am not aware that they are. I am not really sure what you mean by "preparing" either.}

Thanks for the answers Ed.

Hoping Borini is part of the squad this coming season. Really do not see why LFC would want to sell him as it will cost much more to replace him than what we will be getting for him if we decide to sell.

Agree1 Disagree0

12 Jul 2014 10:59:10
The above post relating to Lovren bid has been well documented in the papers lately that Liverpool had bid on the player. Something that the player himself said he has been made aware of and reason why he was unhappy at Southamptons dealing with the bid

Hi Ed. I was the first to mention Yedlin and also broke the news about Tom Ince going to Hull. I'm hearing a strong rumour about Klose signing once the World Cup is over. Have you heard the same?

Believable6 Unbelievable45

Didn't klose reject us two or three seasons ago.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sounds more like you're making stuff up.

Agree0 Disagree0

Klose is not for sale from Lazio and he is now 36. I don't see him coming to play 45 mins and what would cost us around 10m to buy. No resale value.

Lovren. News of talks with Saints to confirm his desire to leave. Without a formal request, is this situation likely to push a deal through at our last bid?. which if true £20m is fair and realistic.

Left Back.

Thanks

Ed do you think Di Maria could be of interest now with Suarez gone? Cheers

{Ed008's Note - No

From all accounts, Di Maria is one of the highest paid players at Madrid - Even if we wanted him, not sure we could/would match his wages

Don't think we want another winger but if we did Konoplyanka is still waiting for the call.

Eds what is happening with our interest in kono, he seems to be available and at a reasonable price. Have we burned our bridges after the last windows debacle?

Markovic medical is happening tommorow

We are going to meet the buyout clause in Wilfred bony'a contract

Origi is going to take a little while a longer

We still have offers on the table for both lovren and Moreno but for now them deals aren't being Persued

If those all crossed the line and signed i'd say it's most successful window and we'd have the squad to compete. Would stop there.

Only then replace players who leave if required but if Johnson, Agger, Lucas and Aspas were to go they are already replaced without losing depth.
