Hi Eds, read today that Clyne is unhappy under Klopp and that he was subsequently offered to Barcelona (who I believe are in the market for a full back) . Is there any amount of truth in this? Many thanks.

Believable3 Unbelievable3

{Ed002's Note - It has been said that Clyne is not too keen on certain matters but I am not aware of his agent offering him the Barcelona at all.}

12 Jul 2016 22:22:59
If he is unhappy, i think now might be a decent time to cash in with the general opinion of him being quite high outside of Liverpool. I feel most fans on here see him as alright but nothing that can't easily be replaced, especially if we could recoup a decent fee. Only problem is, who replaces him?

Agree5 Disagree5

{Ed002's Note - How about JF?}

12 Jul 2016 22:27:29
What sort of matters? If you don't mind me asking.

Agree0 Disagree1

12 Jul 2016 22:43:39
His agent should try Real Madrid or Bayern instead 😂.

Out of curiosity, what's the drama?

Agree1 Disagree1

13 Jul 2016 00:13:14
I think Clyne escaped without much criticism last year that could have come his way but seemed to be aimed at the keeper and other backs for some reason. He was bang average in his first year. That may be due to settling but there was very little indication of "what's to come" from him even.

Forgot his birthday.

Ed001 has said that Clyne is not seen as the long term solution at left back, perhaps he is slightly put out by that.

Mario gaspar villareal

Did see him. argue with klopp a few times when he was on pitch in the initial games klopp in charge.

James Franco is a terrible actor Ed, but I do think he'd make a good right back.

12 Jul 2016 23:08:20
Thank you Ed002 for the reply. What do you mean by the fact that Clyne is not keen on certain matters? Thanks.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - It means he is not a happy bunny right now.}

13 Jul 2016 08:42:55
If he's not happy we should be getting rid. I personally think he's alright. For now atleast but can't have unhappy players.

Agree4 Disagree2

13 Jul 2016 08:51:31
I'm very curious to know what his issues are as well. Did you mean right back, Dan? To be fair to him, he was Mr Consistency last season, just didn't exactly excite very often. There are better right backs in the world. Presumably we will be signing Cedric Soares to replace him.

Agree1 Disagree1

13 Jul 2016 09:13:24
I did mean right back Jurgen, apologies, perhaps that's why I got so many disagrees? .

Agree1 Disagree5

13 Jul 2016 11:22:02
Cedric it is then! 😂.

13 Jul 2016 14:17:48
Can't believe we missed out on Wanyama and Pelle. For shame! Also, there hasn't been a Shane Long rumour in ages! And I'm well pissed off we dragged our heels and let Bertrand sign a new contract. Hopefully, in what's left of the window, we'll be able to tie up the Jay Rodríguez and Tadic deals to complete our summer shopping. ;)

Agree7 Disagree7

13 Jul 2016 17:09:06
Another whinger? He played almost every game last season so what's his beef?

Agree0 Disagree1

13 Jul 2016 20:57:32
Barcelona are no longer in the market having just signed Digne (unless they wanted two)

Agree0 Disagree3

14 Jul 2016 09:04:27
Except that Digne is a left-back. Obviously his beef can't be game-time. Maybe he doesn't like being shouted at from the touchline? Maybe he thinks he's perfect and doesn't understand why Klopp wants him to improve? He's not so bad, not perfect, but perfectly average.
Please Ed, can you give us any further hint what issues are causing him to have a strop?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It is unimportant.}

14 Jul 2016 20:54:06
Of course important he is a starting right full for LFC why isn't it important to LFC fans.

Agree0 Disagree1

15 Jul 2016 08:52:53
The problem is whilst Clyne is decent but nothing special that pretty much describes the majority of FBs out there right now, at best. So the options for replacing him, bar JF being the obvious one, aren't going to add anything. Unless his attitude is Sterling level then what's the issue really?

Anyone know if Hull are still interested in Brad Smith and if so is it to loan or buy outright?

Believable1 Unbelievable10

12 Jul 2016 22:40:22
Unless Robertson is leaving it would be a pointless loan option as he'd not get much game time.

Apparantly Hectors agent has said us and Spuds have made an offer for him. i'm not sure what to make of this other than his agent trying to drum up some business. Unles our stance has shifted a little from Chilwell. Anything changed ed?

Believable5 Unbelievable9

{Ed002's Note - Not to Cologne - but both have a declared interest with a discussion over money with his agent. Cologne are talking to another side.}

12 Jul 2016 16:42:36
Cheers for reply mate. Can I ask who the other side is please?

Agree1 Disagree10

{Ed002's Note - Barcelona.}

12 Jul 2016 16:48:45
Ok mate cheers. Safe to say were in good company then vying for his signature. If Barcelona want him then surely that's that.

Trophies vs playing every week. Hard to keep him an Alba happy unless they willing to sell him.

Probably pushing my luck a bit here ed but is it just a case of us now keeping our options open on other left back options whith Chilwell still priority?

{Ed002's Note - Try to avoid creating these weird little scenarios in your head.}

First time poster here! Apparently Barcelona is in talks with PSG regarding Lucas Digne, and a €20m fee has been agreed. I guess that leaves just us and Spurs then.

Agree5 Disagree8

12 Jul 2016 18:52:15
Why either Hector or Dinge would be willing to go to Barcelona knowing they will be behind Alaba is the pecking order is beyond me.

Agree4 Disagree11

{Ed002's Note - Which is why they have a couple of others on their list.}

12 Jul 2016 19:42:34
Not bad cover for Danny rose.

12 Jul 2016 20:31:54
Looks like we'll be getting Alba then!

{Ed002's Note - Alba stays.}

12 Jul 2016 20:03:12
Ok ed fair enough thank you for your info as always mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jul 2016 09:31:36
I just saw on the Spurs site that us and them have made inquiries, but Koln will have a very high valuation. So, if Rose goes to City, Spurs could replace him with Hector. If not, then we'd have a better chance to get him. As the Eds have been saying all summer, it's possible we could replace both left-backs this summer.
Btw, Eds. Any idea who might be interested in Moreno?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Right now my expectation is that Moreno stays, Hector is priced out of the market unless there is a significant negotiation possible, Liverpool (hopefully) seeing sense about the Chilwell fee, and then Brad Smith to go out on loan to the Championship with interest in Amarvi dropping away.}

14 Jul 2016 10:19:27
Excellent answer Ed, thanks. I wouldn't mind too much going into the season with Moreno and Chilwell. As long as Moreno can learn to improve on his berserker buffoonery. His link up with Mane against Fleetwood did look promising. Although he still couldn't resist one dumb lunge on the edge of the box.

Do you think LFC should just pay the fee being asked for Chilwell Ed002?

{Ed002's Note - I think so.}

14 Jul 2016 22:23:32
I thought it was injury holding up Chilwell's deal? He cannot pass the medical or something? Or was this someone else?

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Jul 2016 15:52:41
According to reports, Jonas Hector's agent has confirmed that LFC have made an offer for him. If this is true it would be a very good addition.

Believable4 Unbelievable10

{Ed002's Note - Not to Cologne - but they have a declared interest with a discussion over money with his agent. Cologne are talking to another side.}

12 Jul 2016 21:35:52
Would be made up if we signed Hector. Great defender, and seemed pretty good getting forward for Germany, delivering some excellent crosses.

Agree3 Disagree7

16 Jul 2016 21:43:48
I was unimpressed with Hector. Although he got forward and into good areas I thought his crossing and finishing were very poor. Although he's a defender the ability to find a teammate should be a must for recruitment. Maybe a handful of games doesn't show his full potential though?

12 Jul 2016 15:33:14
Hi Eds

I see in some reports that we are looking at digne again? is this correct or are we still hoping chilwell gets fit enough to do a medical before the transfer window closes?

Believable0 Unbelievable8

{Ed002's Note - Sounds like nonsense to me. He has been the target of other clubs - not Liverpool. Maybe another of Rodgers' targets that interest Klipperty - but not to my knowledge.}

12 Jul 2016 17:24:37
Digne may be off to barcelona.

Agree3 Disagree9

{Ed002's Note - He is not on the top of their list of left backs and may also be concerned (as one of the others on the list) that being second pick is not for him. But yes, he is one they are looking to.}

12 Jul 2016 13:18:38
Hi eds and Reds,
One for ed001.
Was just on the SSN page and they claim that their sources (which are usually bang on) say that Alexander Manninger is training with us in view of a contract. Do you know anything about it? If it's true, can you see the sense in signing a 39 year old back up keeper? Also wanted to know if you've seen him play before, to see if he's any good. Thanks guys, this page is much appreciated.

Believable1 Unbelievable12

{Ed001's Note - we are looking to bring him in as 3rd choice, to allow Ward to go out on loan and have experienced cover in the event of an injury. Most Prem clubs have a 3rd keeper who is in the veteran stages, especially when they have younger keepers, so they can act as mentors.}

12 Jul 2016 13:40:21
Thanks for the insight ed001, i'd rather start him over Mignolet anyway haha.
