They’re trying to get new suckers in to bet.

Would be an interesting one. At present the lad would struggle to finish his dinner but he has potential and as a back up winger I wouldn't be opposed to him signing, one of Klopp's specialties is polishing rough diamonds. The thing is though, given the figure Watford would likely want, wouldn't we be better off buying someone who is closer to being the finished article?

I believe he was the most fouled player in the premier league last season. Must be doing something right.

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - but what he is doing right could have been diving or he could just be dawdling on the ball.}

13 Jun 2018 07:11:47
hope not.

I imagine Watford would want 30/ 40m for him and he just isn’t worth that at this time. He certainly showed potential early season and can play across the front 3 but he lacks end product for me.

Would rather have gelson Martins.

I think he’s a good little player 🤝.

Having watched a number of Watford games live this year I can assure you he is one of the worst finishers I have ever seen - this is not the player we are looking for!

Not better than Divock Origi who we already have on the books.

Total waste of money to sign a player we don’t need.

probably just the bookies taking advantage of a quiet day in the news and hoping to make some money!

Just read on the Echo that Liverpool are "set to step up the transfer chase for Xherdan Shaqiri". I'm still think there is a chance for Fekir or one of the others mentioned by the eds, my opinion is that Shaqiri is an addition to. But, what do I know.

Yeah Shaqiri transfer not related to Fekir.

Agree21 Disagree2

12 Jun 2018 06:32:19
But getting Shaqiri would mean we are not getting Malcom and the likes of.

Agree6 Disagree10

12 Jun 2018 08:37:36
Malcom is pretty much set for Inter Milan. Contract was negotiated but Bordeaux doesn't like the proposed payment structure by Inter Milan (Inter wants a loan with a buy at the end of the season and bordeaux wants the money now) .

btt: I don't rate shaqiri at all. Saw him (the few times he played) at Bayern and wasnt impressed, saw him at Milan and wasnt impressed and he didn't impress me at stoke either. He was a very talented player back in the day but he thinks way to highly about his abilitys and has an attitude problem.

A lot of Liverpool fans seem to be in favor of this transfer. And if he joins, I hope it works out. But I do worry about his attitude. Some are justifying it as not wanting to play for a losing side like Stoke, but these same problems were there at Bayern - when he felt he was too good to be coming off the bench; as well as at Inter - when he felt he wasn’t getting enough playing time. He reminds me of Balotelli, where he’s had his chances at the big clubs and shouldn’t deserve another one, despite being blessed with natural talent. Just my two cents. and again, if we sign up, I’m backing him to the hilt.

What’s a transfer chase?
How do you step one up?
How do you get set up to step one up?

Agree11 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - You can only do it when the club is on "red alert".}

12 Jun 2018 18:21:48
You need a war chest as well.

Does a transfer chase have to take place in a Babelcopter?

A transfer chase is something that happens after you've monitored aggressively.

The irony of the chubby comment @ fat boy slim 😂😂😂😂.

Ed002 I’m curious, how do clubs go about initiating “red alert? ” Sirens?

I have few misgivings about signing Shaqiri. Anyone who scores worldies is welcome. I think it's a decent signing and he could be one that really surprises people.

Not all transfer chases have Babelcopters, but all Babelcopters have transfer chases.

This is anfield has an article on Shaqiri written by a Stoke fan who does a podcast. He says he was their best player last season, albeit not difficult and thinks some of the question marks pointed at him over his attitude are unfounded. He does question how he would fit in with genpress like has been said on here but in today’s market 12m isn’t bad for a player who could come on and produce magic from the bench.

Agree3 Disagree2

{Ed001's Note - oh well if one fan says it then it must be true.}

13 Jun 2018 08:32:39
It’s an opinion on someone who watched him every week last season, more than anyone here who is giving an opinion.

Agree3 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - and the opinion of a biased fan who might know f all about the game as well. Still pointless isn't it no matter how you try and dress it up. I am sure if I was to look I could find plenty of fans who watched him every week who would disagree, but that would be just as pointless doing so. As for more than anyone else here, you are being a blert now as you have no idea what anyone else has done. Attitude like yours is why it is a waste of time anyone giving an opinion, I am certainly done speaking to you. Little point if you are just going to make up stuff you couldn't possibly know.}

13 Jun 2018 11:26:33
I’m passing on the opinion of a bloke who runs a fans podcast for stoke. He obviously watched him week in week out last season and has praise for him, if someone watched Stoke more than him on a Liverpool transfer rumour page I would be amazed and seriously question what they are doing with their spare time!
Would he be biased to a player leaving? I’m sure I wouldn’t be in the same position.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - no, you were denigrating everyone else's opinion to try and make some bloke who does a podcast's more valid. You have no idea if the guy even has a clue about footie or not. As for watching them week in and week out, if you live anywhere but the UK, every single Prem game is screened live and on repeat, so anyone can watch them all very easily. You go to any bar or café here and there is at least one game being shown, usually more. It is not difficult in reality to have seen every single Stoke game last season.

As for biased, you have no idea what his biases are. He might have a particular liking for fat lazy players who spend 85 minutes a game throwing their arms in the air complaining about the ball not being at his feet even though he was the one who actually gave it away.}

13 Jun 2018 11:56:11
I'm really ok with shaqiri. still young, yes he's had his issues but he is coming to an interesting that interesting mid-20s part of your life where you start to think a bit more clearly than you did at 20.

Agree1 Disagree1

13 Jun 2018 11:53:13
I am in no way saying this guys view is correct, I’m just passing on an alternative view from someone who has watched him more than people on here last season.

Ed was it his attitude problems and selfishness that seen other larger clubs pass on the chance to sign him?
