Wasn't that impressed by him in the few games I've seen but if there's anything in this story then I suppose I'll just have to trust Jürgen.

if anybody has been reading ed001 has suggested Allan is the player at napoli that actually is a decent midfielder and makes other players look much better, case in point - jorginho. I'd go by his words and look at allan instead.

Allan is a brilliant player. everytime I watch Napoli play he runs the show even though hamsik seems to get all the plaudits. im sure I read the other day some club was readying a large bid for him either this window or the next.

Really or is this just a recycled news story? Wasn’t Zielinski another one we were accused of tapping up a couple of years ago?

{Ed002's Note - A warning was issued to Liverpool about the tapping up of PZ. Allan won’t be moving to Liverpool.}

PSG could do with someone like Allan. They are one sensible decision away from seriously competing for the UCL. Sell Neymar to Real, and sign Allan and a Rabiot replacement with that money to bring better balance to their team.

Reports saying Newcastle still attempting to sign Milan's Diego Laxalt, with Milan wanting €12 million for him.
Not sure if it's true but we were interested at one point for him, would we not look to hijack this?
Versatile players too.
Also was there any genuine interest from us in Omur? Never seen him play so wouldn't know how good he is. Reports were reporting fee in region of £14 and £18 million.
If true viable fees for two players we are reportedly interested in.
Is there also any movement on Origi moving? Seems there's interest from both Fulham and Wolves.

{Ed002's Note - (a) Yes, Liverpool has shown an interest and indeed have watched him again this season after his summer move. (b) You can search and find the answer as far as I know it to be. (c) I don't think there are any plans to sell before the summer.}

Thanks Ed02 for answering. Especially as you had a lot to contend with last night. Your insight and input is really appreciated by me.

I really don't think we should go for Laxalt.
To me he is an average winger who can play at LB/ LWB. He isn't great at either IMO.
I know he'd only be cover in both positions but I'd rather have a quality youngster than versatility.

{Ed002's Note - He is not a winger - he is a left sided midfield player who can play elsewhere.}

Thought he played well at the WC, not seen him play domestic league but 12 mill seems too good to be true.
Nice hair too. 😉.

Cheers for reply Ed. I have complete trust in Klopp with whoever he signs, Robertson and chamberlain were both slated as bad buys but look at them under Klopp.

I give kudos to the Ed for the good work
I just want to know if the rumour about the Celtics midfielder James Forrest is true. Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of anything, but he might be seen as a Milner replacement in midfield, although Ed001 has suggested TAA may well move to that role in the summer.}
14 Jan 2019 08:17:42
I've said before that TAA should stick with being our right back for the next 10 years. We have loads of midfield options so probably don't need any more bodies in there and I haven't seen many right backs better than TAA in the past couple of years that we could reasonably buy.

{Ed025's Note - have you not been watching the games this season then johnny?, the kid is a good footballer but defensively he is shocking mate..

Didn't a very young Steven Gerrard have a stint on the right back 😉.

Shocking is hardly the word I’d use 025. He’s had some consistency issues but he will get over those. He’s still a kid, and part of one of the best defenses the league has seen mind you.

ED002/ ED001
Greetings lads, love your work like always.
Question regarding James Tarkowski;
Whats the latest on this English lad, certain threads have been coming through past few days saying Liverpool have enquired about his availability this window.
Macca mentioned interest 6months with him.
Any word?
Or if you gents know if we could go in for him next window perhaps?
I sense Matip could leave for more game time next window, allowing a CB to come in.
Cheers gents.

{Ed001's Note - as far as I am aware nothing has happened with regard to him, other than he has lost what little form he had.}

What's this obsession with CBs all of a sudden? We have 4 senior ones and a couple of youth waiting for their chance. It's the last position that needs strengthening.
We could do with another fullback though.

We can sell one to buy another.

Kloppsboss, have u seen Man Utd's and Arsenal's CBs? I'd have Matip and Lovren over anything those two clubs have in their backline.
Phil JOnes? Smalling? Rojo? Mustafi? Washed up Koscielny?
Are u telling me they are better than Lovren and Matip?

Sell both and replace. Simples.

Lovren and Matip would both get into Arsenal, or Man Utd's team.
I'd say Lovren gets into Chelsea's team as well ahead of Luiz and at least in the Man City and Spurs squads ahead of Otamemdi, Stones, Foyth or Sanchez.
Are people just going to pretend he's not the best defender in a Croatia side that got to a World Cup final and part of the back 4 which got us to a Champions League final? He's the best 3rd choice centre back in the league in my opinion and he'd start in at least 16 of the 20 teams in the division.

13 Jan 2019 11:52:51
What is all this "when fit" nonsense about? How often are Vertonghen, Alderweireld, Kompany, Otamendi etc getting injured? All the time. We're just unlucky that we lost 3 out 4 senior centre backs over a miniscule 2 game period.
It hardly cost us though. Hoever and Fabinho were certainly not the reason we lost in the FA cup, and we breezed past Brighton. Got out of 1st gear? I think Klopp just got out and pushed without turning the engine on.
Matip will be back for Crystal Palace and Gomez will be back the week after. This is all very dramatic. Anybody would think our team had been decimated by Spanish Flu.

I think we need to upgrade our 3rd choice CB. I don't rate Lovren or Matip highly at all, yes they've stepped in well this season but would you want them in the team for an extended period of time say if VVD was injured or against the top oppostion? Even disregarding that their injury records are too poor to be a reliable 3rd choice. We've took a risk this season going in with just these 4 but I understand we had to prioritise other areas first. But now I believe Klopp will sort it out this summer I think Ed001 mentioned Matip could leave and Ed002 has said we've been scouting Ruben Dias. I also think the club don't see Phillips/ Masterson making it, indicated by us having looked at youngsters like Francisco Ferreira and Per Schuurs. VVD, Gomez, NEW CB, Lovren and a high potential youngster for 5th choice would be ideal for next season.

I don’t get why anyone would think Tarkowski would be remotely good enough, he’s been found wanting this season, he’s had one good season in his career ever, he’s a mid table championship defender at best. Plus he’s a dyed in the wool Man United supporter and I don’t want one of those at the club.

Xabi, agree on all points except keeping Lovren. The man dies on occasion step up to be counted but even in games where we don’t concede he makes mistakes and gets bailed out by either his defensive comrades or the other teams lack of quality. The man is to unpredictable and talks rubbish far to often as well. Rather keep Matip than him or just replace them both.
