Rumblings (not just from Twitter) about Lambert plus £30 million for Benteke. Sounds realistic.

Believable17 Unbelievable26

13 Jul 2015 20:11:58
Basicay release clause but we free up wage space so can see why it would appease both sides

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jul 2015 20:24:28
Nah, it wouldn't have dragged on so long if we were willing to pay £30m, what difference is £2m for our supposed top target?

Agree2 Disagree0

13 Jul 2015 22:40:13
Lambert could have gone in January for £5m (fee agreed with Villa); I can't see us paying top price and reducing our fee for Lambert by 50%. So maybe the deal will come off but not at £30m + Lambert IMO

Rumours circulating that Fiorentina would take Balotelli on Loan for next season to replace Mario Gomez, who might go the other way.
I can see Fiorentina wanting Balo, but surely we won't consider Gomez. He's past it.

Believable17 Unbelievable8

13 Jul 2015 17:58:11
Why the heck would we loan out balo and bring in gomez. We are after benteke that is it.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jul 2015 18:39:01
Good target man with no other attributes so doubt it.

13 Jul 2015 18:54:16
He's been struggling for two years now, was class at bayern they sold him at the right time hopefully they are doing the same with schweinsteiger

13 Jul 2015 19:44:15
Probably exactly what they're doing with Schweini.

Good Evening Eds. Have any clubs expressed any interest in Coutinho or Markovic recently? (Read through posts and can't find anything too recent)
Thanks.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - Porto and Bayern Munich were both represented at the Chelsea/Liverpool game toward the end of the season and someone senior at Chelsea is of the opinion that Coutinho was the focus of their attention. But it went nowhere.

Markovic is a different matter, it has not been working out for him but there is no interest in him and, without going in to detail, there won't be interest in a player who has not been playing regularly (and looks like he won't be next season either) if Liverpool were to look to recoup any more than half of what they paid.}

13 Jul 2015 18:41:27
I like Markovich and feel he just needs more time after all he was played out of position. I would have preferred him up front to Stirling.

Agree1 Disagree0

13 Jul 2015 19:00:45
Sounds like a tricky position, if there is zero interest now at potentially half what was paid in 12/24 months we will be basically letting him walk for nothing it seems to be something we are getting good at. there must be clubs interested in a loan he's not a bad player.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jul 2015 16:01:09
eds, do you see anything happening with Reus?

Believable4 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - The Reus situation is that Borussia Dortmund offered a significant cash sum to the player to sign a one year extension to remove the release clause that German clubs could use to force a deal for the summer. Manchester United's interest has moved on, at least for now. Chelsea stepped back from any deal in December after several discussions resulted in a significant issue becoming clear - if that goes away then it is possible something could still be done, but I very, very much doubt it. Bayern is no longer pushing for him. Real Madrid would like a deal but need to move others on first - which it looks like they will try, but it could be 2016 before they want to make a move for him. Barcelona may still look to striking a deal for January 2016 as a replacement for Pedro - but Reus has made it clear that he feels let down by them last summer. Arsenal will be interested if he is available but my expectation is he will probably remain at Dortmund next season.}

13 Jul 2015 17:00:23
Despite I would absolute love Reus to play for LFC, his injury record could make him something like Sturridge last season, or worse.

Agree1 Disagree0

13 Jul 2015 21:56:44
More chance of henry buying a royce than reus

13 Jul 2015 13:20:26
Just read Bayern want Kovacic. :(
Makes sense as a fine replacement for Schweini.
Any idea if this is true please Eds??

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any current interest in Kovacic from Bayern Munich although at a meeting between the clubs at the end of May about another player, I understand he was briefly discussed, although they were not one of the four sides that Inter made unsolicited approaches to.}

13 Jul 2015 10:55:34
I have read that Jerome Sinclair has asked to leave the club after turning down a new contract, any truth in this?

Believable10 Unbelievable4

13 Jul 2015 11:06:46
It appears to be true, he tweeted "Sometimes things just aren't meant to be! Exciting times though! New chapter pending, Can't wait to see where this year takes me??"

What a pity.

13 Jul 2015 11:27:33
Let's hope not, I think he has potential to be better than sturridge.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jul 2015 11:53:00
You can't blame him. Needs to look after his career that will possibly be at a stand still at Liverpool.

If the news is true, I wish him all the best.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jul 2015 12:58:17
His career wouldn't be at a standstill if he was getting 1st team experience on loan for the season.

Agree1 Disagree0

13 Jul 2015 13:52:44
Or maybe he just sees no hope for him even after the loan is completed

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jul 2015 14:41:31
Maybe he's been told he doesn't have a future.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jul 2015 15:37:04
Apparently which blows my mind he has turned down a contract due to the money. Kids driving ferraris and not willing to graft for the money. Hope its not true but seems to have been offered more money elsewhere. Its all about the money sadly.

13 Jul 2015 17:17:24
Sorry eds .............

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - We are not going to get in to any of this.}

13 Jul 2015 18:05:10
Nothing I have seen suggests he will be better than Sturridge or anything like. If he carves out a career in the Championship he'll have done well for himself. Another case of a player wanting it all now?

Gud morning ed, some sites are saying we've agreed a deal to sign denis cheryshev. How true is it? Do u think we are still going to sign kovacic,/medel, reus n benteke?
I feel if we dnt buy our top targets and going for players like mario gomez we may end up like last season.

Believable3 Unbelievable2

{Ed001's Note - I don't know mate sorry.}

13 Jul 2015 09:06:10
Reus is so far out of Our league, but he just seems like the kind of top quality player we could sign. My head says 100% no chance, too good, United/arsenal/chelsea would match our bid if we agreed a fee, but a small feeling makes me think it could be achieved, it's foolish I know.

Agree1 Disagree1

13 Jul 2015 09:55:41
I agree Fencey, we all have players we'd love to sign and he's one of mine. I just can't see it though. I'll get behind whoever we sign but i'd love the club to sign a marquee player as a show of intent. With Reus though I'm also not sure how injury prone he is?

Agree1 Disagree0

14 Jul 2015 08:33:32
Doesn't Firmino fit into a marquee?

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jul 2015 04:11:27
Can we tell if selling Sterling was a success??

It all depends what we do with the money.

I was told tonight the deal was done back in Feb.

Only time will tell.

If we sign no more quality then yes i believe it was .

Lets wait and see.

I also believe Benteke is nailed on, i also think he would be a great signing.

Cheers

13 Jul 2015 06:41:25
Cheers Macca I think benteke will work as long as he can be coached properly to play high press atacking football if he stands still it'll be a nightmare, but pace power and a good finish he can be as good as he wants to be!

Macca you are not at all cautious over the ridiculous fee Villa are asking, for a striker whose form consistently fluctuates? Surely better out there for the price.

13 Jul 2015 07:33:08
Is Macca really Gary McAllister?

13 Jul 2015 07:50:17
Cheers macca

If the deal was done in Feb than why has sterling been acting like an absolute tool.

Have you heard anything else about possible targets?

Cheers

Agree2 Disagree0

13 Jul 2015 08:42:55
Done in feb, That doesn't make sense why would city let a 49 mill player train with Liverpool upto the 11th of july knowing he could be injured, it would of been official on july 1st. also ed confirmed during june and july no deal had been struck even saying bids had been rejected. You also said we were in for Kono but ed confirmed we were not even interested. I think your contact has been caught out and is now given false info mate.

13 Jul 2015 08:49:54
who's the next big liverpool player to be sold?

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jul 2015 09:03:34
Yeah I don't understand it being done in Feb, why would city make the two bids that were rejected if an agreement was already in place.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jul 2015 10:08:39
I think it is already a success as keeping a player with such a poor attitude and agent is toxic for the club. I think once Benteke is done i think we have had a good window, maybe want one more signing

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jul 2015 10:22:47
Not having a dig at him mate, I appreciate the info as well. I was just questioning the deal done in February bit.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jul 2015 10:29:34
Thanks Macca. If the deal was done back in February, why all the ruckus by his agent and him, I wonder?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed023's Note - I assume Macca means that the deal was done with Ward?}

13 Jul 2015 10:47:40
That makes sense. I think that just shows how much of an arrogant little chap Ward is. If the deal was sold back in Feb, he didn't need to indulge in all that disrespecting. And it also probably explains Sterling not reacting to the nonsense his childish agent was blowing about.

13 Jul 2015 12:13:04

welcome back.
Surely now is not the time for everyone to be panicking or speculating over your identity.
We shall just enjoy your input.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jul 2015 12:50:11
OK Eds, did Liverpool have to pay Agents Fees for Mr Ward on this one please ?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - What is paid by the selling club would typically include:
(a) If the player is under 24 and moving between different football associations, a Solidarity contribution paid to his previous clubs responsible for his training - this is 5% of the transfer fee received (apportioned 5% of the contribution for each year from the season of his 12th birthday to the season of his 15th birthday and 10% of the contribution for each season from his 16th to 23rd birthdays).
(b) If the player moves to a higher category club (all clubs being categorised 1 to 4) then Training Compensation is due for the period of age 12 to 21. Compensation is due to all clubs when the player turns from amateur to professional and thereafter only when he moves from his final training club to another club. The initial training compensation is levied at the training costs associated with Category 4 clubs. The subsequent figure is agreed between the sides or tribuneral if necessary.
(c) Any monies owed to the player if he did not request a transfer – again this is 5% of the transfer fee received.
(d) Any monies owed to the player in terms of his contract (typically outstanding owed wages (not future wages) and bonuses).
(e) Any money contractually due to a previous club as the result of a sell-on clause.

13 Jul 2015 12:41:55
Aidy Ward has not lied. He stated several times that he had agreement in principle from several EPL teams and one European team. What they could not have known was that LFC would play hardball on cost and it seems all but one team pulled away from a potential deal. Well done to our people behind the scenes (we need to stop being seen as an easy target to get players from. This will help.
Thanks Macca for the great information you provide when you can, it is appreciated by most of us here.

13 Jul 2015 13:28:46
Many thanks Ed002 (and well wriggled out of my first question Ed001, haha).
Regarding the February timescale that Macca mentioned, I had read something similar on another forum but put it down to a Franky Scouser - type conspiracy theory, haha.
But Reynard's explanation makes more sense.
Oh well Ed002, maybe Sterling will rot in Man City's reserves !?
Shame about all this, good player and sorry to lose him actually but that's life.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - (1) Apologies - it is the buying club that pay the agent fees. (2) I am not aware of what Macca has said about Sterling or February, but it has been evident for some time that a resolution was required this summer. Manchester City were the only one of the clubs that enquired who sustained an interest and it is far from a surprise that a deal will soon be concluded.}

13 Jul 2015 14:33:53

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jul 2015 17:19:41
Why is it a surprise that the deal was done in Feb?

Sterling and Ward's loutish behaviour the past few months now makes perfect sense.

This reminds me of all the brouhaha in the summer of Beckham's transfer to Real Madrid. After it was announced that he had joined Real, a Real official said the deal had been done six months ago.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jul 2015 23:44:54
If I recall correctly when the ever elusive Macca first started posting, there was strong suggestion that it was in fact Jason McAteer. I'm pretty sure it's him not Steve Mc or Gary Mc.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Jul 2015 00:09:06
