Sorry Eds you have probably answered this question recently but what's the score with Erme Can with not signing this contract.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I can only imagine options are being considered. If someone like Keita arrived he would be down a peg on the ladder - I guess he knows that - as he knows Juve are looking at Keita as well.}

15 Aug 2017 01:00:20
Will the club let him run down his contract?

It seems it has dragged on for ages.

{Ed001's Note - they already have.}

I think towards the end of last season, in pre season and in our one game this season, he has shown he can be a great player for us. We should have done more to secure him before this situation arose.

Agree6 Disagree1

Not intelligent enough to be a centre mid, runs round like a headless chicken to often. He doesn't excel defensively or offensively, no doubt he has technical quality and athleticism but we definitely need a better alternative to him. The odd fantastic goal doesn't qualify you to be a Liverpool centre mid.

Agree1 Disagree3

15 Aug 2017 11:23:16
How about helping liverpool to 4 clean sheets out of six games at end of last season? . Can is brilliant and given our inability to sign players I really think we need to make sure and keep players who want to play for us. Can really stood up last season and if not for a wonder goal we would be travelling to hadjuk split on a Thursday evening this season.

Agree6 Disagree0

15 Aug 2017 12:12:02
Toul, you are wrong. Can is a very good player and is already part of the Germany setup, which is not for slouches. Also, Juve really want him and will start every week for them, a team capable of playing a CL final every season. They don't buy duds nor slouches so your idea that he is a headless chicken makes no sense.

Agree3 Disagree0

15 Aug 2017 16:52:10
Lowest pass completion record out of our centre midfielders, that's despite playing a more withdrawn role more regularly. I am not having that he'd displace Khedira, Pjanic or Marchisio, and if you believe he would your deluded. He'd likely be a squad player there based on his versatility. Germany took an experimental side to the confed cup he also got played right mid in a qualifier and he's 23 not a teenager. Decision making and positioning aren't great and although he clearly has large potential I feel as a centre mid he lacks ability to control a game. His overhead kick wasn't the only thing that got us to the CL, dozens of moments and performances gained us points. As for our clean sheets, mignolets performance coupled with having our first choice centre halfs available consistently helped massively. I'm not slating the lad he has plenty of admirable attributes, but we need someone more consistently effective in centre mid rather than 3 box to box midfielders. Think back to Benitez and we had a balanced midfield with a deep lying distributor and a ball winning mid as well as gerrards obvious raw talent to create going forward. Now tell me, which of those categories does he fall into?

BingoRed and Superred watch this game and tell me he's influential.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Aug 2017 21:36:38
No influence at all, booked for a daft challenge. He's no outlet for our defenders, barely seen him. Not a presence aerially nor really has he done anything going forward. Defensively he's been slow, tell me if he's a supposed superstar then why is he not having any influence from the middle of the park? Don't get me wrong everyone has a bad game occasionally but even if your having a bad game, in centre midfield you must have a presence. Mane has done far more defending than him, if either of you see him starting for Juve you need a footballing education.

Question for Ed2 if i may, which i can't see has been asked, why do you do this? Is it just to educate us mere mortals? You share your considerable knowledge, yet time and time again you have to deal with numpties giving you grief just for telling the truth.

Anyhow i, and no doubt the majority of the decent posters, really appreciate everything you and the other Eds do!

Take it easy :)

TK if we didn’t have the eds and their great service, LFC fans would always be on the FSG/ Klopp out bandwagon thanks to twitter and bs media.

Still quite a few of twitter believers on here who are the ones to give the eds grief but it doesn't deter them luckily from helping the genuine fans and we appreciate all the hard work you lot do 😄.

Ed002 anything about a Newcastle approach for sturridge or is it BS?

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - I know nothing of it but due to convoluted circumstances Joselu may move there. Stoke decided it would take a couple of months to sort out Luan's ownership and Gremio want to keep him until the New Year. Sampdoia may bite and accept that with the Patrik Schick money and that removes Spartak from the deal. Stoke has a tentative agreement with PSG over the cost of Jese (loan, loan to buy or buy still up in the air) and have permission to speak with the player. If that goes ahead, Joselu will move to Newcastle and they will end their interest in taking Danny Ings. But Surridge to Newcastle is something that has passed me by.}

Actually it is from someone I know that works with the selling club and othe premier league clubs on certain financial dealings so I would say he is quite a reliable source. I never post on any other players etc because this is the only information relative to liverpool.

Agree4 Disagree1

14 Aug 2017 20:41:16
We will sign him. Following a training ground punch-up (or handbags judging some of the premier league tarts), the club will spin an audacious story citing that he is a bad apple in the squad, and that he has in fact pulled the hair of many of his teammates on the training ground, out of sheer desparation in his attempts to mive on to a bigger club and lucrative contract. On hearing the news that his request has been granted, he will pen a letter stating that Southampton was always his boyhood club, and will continue to stir emotions in his heart forever. After saying his farewells to his teammates in the showers (as the Navy football team do), he will fly via helicopter to Anfield, landing in the centre of the pitch to a humbling rapturous crowd, excited by the proposed move for 'one of their own'. After twenty thousand watch in excitement as he conducts a few push ups, leg stretches and tennis ball keep ups, he exits the stadium, one hand raised, and proceeds to kiss the badge in a orgasmic way, waving and grimacing as he prepares for the press. On immediately explaining that he cannot wait to play his first Liverpool game for his boyhood club, he cooly walks down the stairs, slips and breaks one of his toes, keeping him out for twelve months. All in vain, just like our attempts to sign him maybe.

Ever thought of writing a 50 shades of grey sequel dave bootle? Excellent penmanship.

Seriously, VVD will sign won't he? He gets to choose where he puts his signature, not Southampton. He wants to come here and we need him more than the rest. He must know that at Liverpool, as opposed to Chelsea, city, he will be the top boy. I wouldn't expect clean sheets every week with our style of play, but he can surely help organise back there. I think fans should chill as I can't see us not adding to our defensive group. If we didn't, I actually think questions should be asked. I'm not suggesting anything too drastic (like new manager) I can't believe lfc are looking at our defence and saying "job done" and I don't buy klopps "5 players and a prize" there must be loads of decent cbs out there. I'm not a massive Gibson fan but he must be better than lovren. We haven't spent loads this year and if by some mad quirk we don't sign vvd, we simply have to have zn improvement in our defensive personel. Our 3rd choice makes lovren look good and lovren makes matip look good. Come on. I don't think our boys are actually too bad but the unit hasn't and isn't working. Proper leadership and organisation can put henchoz In the best defence in the country. At least gibbo can sort out organisation. Don't think it's crazy to suggest both cbs. With matip to full in. Sell lovren and klavan. They just aren't good enough to play for a title challenging team. CL players, don't make me laugh.

Hello Eds,

I read today that liverpool may make an offer for Correa of atletico Madrid?

Just wondering if it had any truth or not?

Thanks!

Believable1 Unbelievable7

{Ed002's Note - They can't register replacements right now.}

15 Aug 2017 08:32:16
This Rumour is out for a while now. As far as i know atletico won't sell because of their transferban. If a stupidly high offer (which will not happen considering LIV allways lowballing) came in they would think about it but i don't think he will move this summer.

Maybe in the Winter when Costa goes back there and Correas chances of playtime are close to none he will move but not this Summer.

14 Aug 2017 15:59:57
Away from the coutinho vvd and keita dribble that has been going on day in day out for christ knows how long now, does anybody no what's happening with young danny ward? Had an amazing season with Huddersfield last season getting them promoted to the prem only to be 3rd choice back up to migs nd karius this season? Surely this isn't any good for his progression. If he not going to get the chance with us yet will another loan be on the cards? Seems a shame to see a bright young keeper of his calibre.

Believable5 Unbelievable3

{Ed002's Note - He wants assurances or will look to leave.}

14 Aug 2017 16:06:39
He's earnt a starting place, imo. What's the point in being third-choice keeper irrespective of the form of Karius and Mignolet? It must be frustrating to watch both Karius and Mignolet underperform and not get a look in.

Agree22 Disagree1

14 Aug 2017 16:28:10
Without a doubt Ward should get a chance - not just reacting after another shaky migs performance but both migs and karius have made several mistakes and too often have looked unconvincing. When Ward did get a game, he came out his box quickly and looked commanding and made an worldie save that went viral - he took his chance and i really hope he gets more game time and soon. It made sense to start migs at watford as had a strong end to season but again under performed so give Ward should get a game and migs couldn't really complain. I predict Ward cements no. 1 spot by end of season.

Agree10 Disagree1

14 Aug 2017 16:42:29
I personally think ward is slightly ahead of the other keepers. Admittedly I've not seen him play much but from what I've seen he does the basics better than the others .
He also has great saves in his locker which I think the others can't be trusted upon to make.

Agree6 Disagree1

14 Aug 2017 16:43:42
I'd like to see Ward start tomorrow night. For every bit of good Mig or Karius do I spend the rest of the game like a bag of nerves anytime the ball goes near them. However I don't think he's in Klopps plans for some unknown reason.

Agree9 Disagree3

14 Aug 2017 17:03:21
Is the chance of a loan to Huddersfield still on?

Agree1 Disagree3

14 Aug 2017 17:18:45
We'd be foolish to let Ward go out on loan again and even more foolish to not give the lad game time. We've been crying out for a goalkeeper for number of years now and we've had one on the books the whole time in Ward!

Agree1 Disagree2

{Ed002's Note - Huddersfiel don't need him now.}

14 Aug 2017 17:22:42
I can't understand why we choose to keep 3 average keepers on our books similar in standard.

Most top sides have 1 × Top Goalkeeper, an undoubted first choice. 1 × Experienced back up not expecting to feature much and 1 x young star with potential to be no.1 one day. The top keeper plays 95% of games in a season.

Sell 2 of ours and buy 1 top Premier League keeper.

I'm sure we could have got Kasper or Butland this Summer.

Mignolet was poor again on saturday.

Agree9 Disagree5

14 Aug 2017 17:25:48
Isn't he injured- back issue?

Agree1 Disagree0

14 Aug 2017 20:55:56
He seems to have done very well at Aberdeen and Huddersfield and every time I have seen him he looks quality. He will have been under a lot less spotlight and scrutinised a lot less, it's tough at a big club but he must be worth a go? I do however work with a Huddersfield fan and he likes him but said he doesn't think he is good enough for Liverpool, only one mans opinion but he's watched a lot more of him than I have.

Agree2 Disagree1

14 Aug 2017 21:12:10
We signed karius as first choice keeper and the "fans" got on his case as soon as he made a mistake. Then complain constantly about migs being back in goal. Now want ward in goal after a season in the championship?

Agree2 Disagree1

14 Aug 2017 21:40:45
What is his ball control like? Never actually seen him play where he recieves loads of pass backs from defenders

Several games lately our defenders seem to think that passing the ball back to migs in the center of the goal with power is a great idea. Every time it happens it’s proper squeaky bum time but he seems to be doing well at controlling the ball. Could ward handle it?

Agree1 Disagree0

14 Aug 2017 23:43:43
Ward should get a shot. Mings isn't working. Ed said earlier that mings was too nice and that makes sense eh? They ding listen to him or they don't help him enough. Ward form last year has to get him a chance.

Agree2 Disagree0

15 Aug 2017 08:08:58
Why not give karius a run in the team?

The fact is migs should have been offloaded with ward as number 2 this season to karius.

Agree0 Disagree1

15 Aug 2017 08:34:58
We should have sold Mings and let Karius and Ward fight for the No. 1 spot. Get someone with plenty of experience as a third choice in so he can help them two develop.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Aug 2017 11:13:56
It wouldn't be fair to put Ward or Karius behind that defence.

Not only the defence, in fact we have a full team problem dealing with set pieces.

A goal scored from a set piece puts the shits up the defence; we have to then attack the ball chasing the result, leaving more gaps behind.

I think, Where possible the captain of the team should be a centre half.
As they would be resposible at set pieces at both ends.

We see other teams, Everton, utd, having complete haul outs and buying loads and think we are missing out. Difference is, they were both rubbish last year and we were great until injuries struck.

Chill. We needed more pace, we got salah. We needed a lb, we got one.
We still need a cb and I feel sure we will get one and we could do with one or two top midfielders/ attacking midfielders. Especially if Phil goes.
It's clear to all this is what we need. I don't want us buying the first thing that comes along but I do expect us to add at least two more senior players. There are hundreds of great players who would love to sign for us so quit being all negative about LFC. Still a big club with big aspirations. That is what top young players want.

Ed Aarons of The Guardian seems to think that we are interested in Seri from Nice. Do any of the eds know anything about this? Seems to me like he could be a nice alternative to Naby. Not quite as good but the same kind of player and a cheaper price tag

Thanks in advance!

Believable6 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any approach to Nice by Liverpool but will check. There is interest from other sides in him and with Keita supposedly house hunting it would be rather a knee jerk reaction if they have approached Nice - who would be unlikely to want to sell.}

Agree0 Disagree1

14 Aug 2017 15:19:21

14 Aug 2017 15:26:06
Macca really haven't won me over this entire window. Yeah he did call the Robertson and Salah deal, but so did the Ed's and about 75% of the english media including that godsforsaken rag The S*n. I hope he is right in the last prophesy because we sure could use some quality, but by now it looks like Coutinho will be lost as well.

Agree7 Disagree17

14 Aug 2017 15:21:52
Ed did we not want Keita before Coutinho handed in a request? therefore could we maybe want both, would sure add the energy our midfield needs. And correct me if im wrong but did the nice president not say "release clauses don't mean much in football today, but if a 40 million euro bid was to be made he will be allowed to leave"? At least that's what multiple reports are saying. Thanks.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Seri would be an alternate to Keita and not Coutinho.}

14 Aug 2017 15:34:32
Mate Macca posts here to merely inform Liverpool fans about what is happening at their club - he ain't always right but he definitely has good knowledge and a proven track record: he ain't here to win anyone over he is just a guy looking to clue a few of us in and he is always offering words of caution with every piece of info he gives - I wonder why he bothers when you have posters like you.

Macca is not here to "win [you] over", smedegaard. It's a rumours site, he's not going to be right 100% of the time, nor does he need to be.

Agree18 Disagree2

14 Aug 2017 15:43:19
To be fair to Macca he gives us the information he has.

At the time he said VVD was done most in the club thought it was. but we royally screwed it up.

At the time he said Keita would be done most in the club thought it was. but we didn't understand RBL's position.

At the time he said Coutinho would stay he hadn't handed in a transfer request.

Macca can only provide the info as he knows it and it would appear, by what has come out since, that his info was spot on in relation to what the club were doing and believing at the time.

Agree7 Disagree3

14 Aug 2017 16:05:43
I, personally, look forward to the Macca posts. He's always comes across as a genuine and honest guy. In my opinion, he would never intentionally lie or mislead us fellow reds.

I just hope he doesn't listen to the negativity on here and he continues to keep us ahead of the game.

Maybe we should start a 'Macca Appreciation Page'.

Agree9 Disagree1

14 Aug 2017 16:06:38
Seri looks very similar to that of Keita. four years older but they look very similar players. Nice have no reason to sell though so he won't be cheap. It would mean the end for Keita though. Keita will be much more sought after next season. Maybe if Liverpool Qualify for UCL and Nice fail to overcome Napoli?

Agree1 Disagree0

14 Aug 2017 16:19:57
Macca said apparantly Keita is looking at houses in Liverpool, surely if he has said that then its true?

Agree3 Disagree1

14 Aug 2017 17:05:00
No matter how good your sources may be they can never be 100% certain until a move or decision is made and done. It's nice of macca eds and others to share what info they get.

Agree5 Disagree0

14 Aug 2017 17:00:41
It could be old info, like a week old. When Liverpool were pushing hard and the RBL official mentioned village in Guinea. He may have got the ball rolling then looking for properties. But a week later it was met with a firm NOT FOR SALE. So perhaps houses were looked at although not in person, the info maybe a week late when Macca received it.

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - What colour is the sky in your magic garden?}

14 Aug 2017 17:23:56
in response to red dawn:

the whole point of having inside information is seeing things before they happen and getting ahead of the media, if he didn't see that we hadn't agreed a fee with Southampton, or hadn't seen that coutinho wasn't about to hand in a transfer request then he knows nothing more than anyone else.

Dont get me wrong. I appreciate every rumour posted by Macca or any Ed. Im just starting to be worn out by this rollercoster window and a bit sceptical. I bet Coutinho has got a nice prefurnitured flat Keita can move straight into. I recall these solutions has been used before.

Plenty of reports saying we are trying to snap up 16 yr old Victor Mollejo who made his debut for A. Madrid over the weekend. MOTD fever?

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I don't know sorry.}

I have seen some reports linking us with Mahrez. Any truth behind it?

Roma made a bid around 30mil but Leicester want 50mil with Liverpool and Arsenal showing interest.

Believable1 Unbelievable9

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any approach from Liverpool and he doesn't seem like a player they need. Arsenal will likely make an effort after moving on from Lemar.}

14 Aug 2017 13:46:18
He would be my choice as a Coutinho replacement but I don't see it happening.

14 Aug 2017 14:23:43
Mahrez isn't even a similar type of player to Coutinho though is he? He is an out and out winger and not a number 10. Plus one good season out of four doesn't really make him worth £50m does it?

Didn't Monaco set a really high price for Lemar which put Arsenal off?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - yes but not looking for a direct replacement, I am not sure there is one.}

14 Aug 2017 08:39:03
Jntil the club get in someone that knows what he's doing the transfer circus at lfc will continue for another 27 yrs.

Agree22 Disagree3

14 Aug 2017 08:50:53
Klopp should tweak the midfield a little. I like Pochettino's setup better where he has Dier/ Wanyama dropping in as 3rd CB when the full backs bomb forward, allowing Alderweireld and Vertonghen to move further to the sides to defend. We should sign a CDM who can do something similar and give Matip and a new CB more breathing space and lesser ground to defend. This where I think a CB like VVD will come in handy. None of our fullbacks are particularly good at defending so having them play more as wingbacks will suit them especially TAA, Robertson and Moreno. Not sure Clyne will get a look in though coz he is poor going forward.

Agree15 Disagree2

14 Aug 2017 09:05:05
It seems a bit odd the club aren't more prepared given the interest Barcelona have held for so long.

Agree8 Disagree3

14 Aug 2017 09:19:24
There simply isn't one Ed, I agree. His level of influence is not something that one signing in the short term can fix except bar maybe Eriksen.

Agree0 Disagree5

{Ed001's Note - I don't think Eriksen is anywhere near as good nor someone I would want to bring in. I think he is the one in the Spurs side that could be improved on. For me he is the weakest link, though still a good player, he just hasn't got that little bit extra. Everything about him is just a bit under what I would want. Physically he is not quick, nor is he particularly strong. He has a good range of passing and vision, but it is not top end good. He doesn't work back well, his shooting is a bit hit and miss and his deadballs are the same. He is just a level or two below Couts and the rest of the Spurs attack.}

14 Aug 2017 09:37:48
You are right Ed01. He is vastly overrated in my view. He is not their playmaker and often goes missing when Dembele isn't around! He is the beneficiary of the what Dembele does behind him! He is like Lallana who is useless without Coutinho!

Agree3 Disagree4

{Ed001's Note - Dembele is awesome. I love watching him play, he is like a Rolls-Royce, gliding across the ground effortlessly. He can give it out too, he is not shy of a crunching tackle as well as being so silky on the ball.}

14 Aug 2017 09:42:16
Eriksen could have won player of the year last year. He was better than any liverpool player.

Agree1 Disagree9

{Ed001's Note - I don't see why you think that when he wasn't even close to being their best player. He was nowhere near as good as Kane, Alli, Dembele, Aldeirweireld, Rose (though I am not a fan of his, he did play well until injured), Dier and Son at times. I really do not know what you saw, but it beggars belief if you think he was anywhere near winning player of the year.}

14 Aug 2017 09:44:27
I get that exact same feeling ed, there's something about Eriksen which always makes me feel somewhat unconvinced about him. I always get this feeling that there is an extra yard he fails to make up.

Agree2 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - he just isn't quite top class, certainly good enough for the Prem and better than say Siggurdsson but he is not in that Alli and Kane bracket where you can't improve on them realistically.}

14 Aug 2017 09:58:37
I get the impression that you are/ were a central midfielder yourself Ed01, don't ask me why.

Wasn't Dembele the player that Kenny was desperate to sign just before he left? I would love him and Alderwerield at LFC.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - we have defo tried to sign him in the past before he joined Spurs.}

14 Aug 2017 10:12:59
You need to give up on some people Ed01. Without Mousa Dembele Eriskon is just another average player!

Agree2 Disagree1

14 Aug 2017 10:15:09
I did read your article about him and what you describe him as a Rolls Royce. He is their playmaker who makes everyone looks better. People don't see it. Not your fault!

Agree3 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - one of my favourite non-Liverpool players. If he added goals to his game then people would notice him. I wonder if that is why people get so excited about Eriksen? He does weigh in with some goals, which is always good for highlight reels.}

14 Aug 2017 10:15:10
Thanks, Ed. I agree he is not at Cou's level and frankly who is apart from Silva in the PL in the true no. 10 position? I just thought he would be someone we can kinda make do with but I see your point.

Agree5 Disagree0

14 Aug 2017 10:17:39
Hey ed001, when you say "not a direct replacement" for coutinho, are we looking to change the formation slightly with this new player? I know it's been mentioned a lot about firmino dropping back and getting a striker in, do you see this as a possibility? The more i think about that the less I want it to happen though, I like Firmino up front personally.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I don't expect Firmino to drop back, at least not regularly, though maybe on occasion to fit Sturridge in. I expect a more energetic midfielder, like the one we tried for in Keita, to be the replacement. Though Salah was a more direct replacement.}

14 Aug 2017 10:44:37
I rate Eriksen highly and would be fairly happy with his as a replacement, I also agree on Dembele, one of the most underrated players in the league imo.

Agree0 Disagree3

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool has shown zero interest in Eriksen.}

14 Aug 2017 10:50:41
Agree about Erickson Ed. I think Couts is better than Erickson but not as good as someone like Hazard who has the pace and power to go with the skill. It will be interesting to see what we do when he goes. Part of me was a bit concerned that with him dropping into midfield it left us a bit lightweight in a midfield that already gets bypassed too easily. Another part of me was drooling at the prospect of him sitting deeper servicing Mane, Firmino and Salah. I guess that means I'd like someone with a good engine, strength, pace, good in the air but with Couts's passing range and ability to beat a man. Not asking for too much am I?

Agree1 Disagree2

{Ed001's Note - to be fair, we are not lightweight in midfield, they just get too caught up in the press and do not position themselves well when the press is not on.}

14 Aug 2017 11:04:54
Thanks ed. it's going to be interesting to see who we bring in.
I'm not as worried about coutinho leaving as I have been in the past when we have sold some of our best players, I just can't see us struggling up front now salah is here.
Still hope we can bring in Keita, he will make a huge amount of difference I think.

Agree3 Disagree0

14 Aug 2017 11:13:17
Spurs have *apparently* told Barcelona they want £100+ for Erickson which has made them baulk at the price. I reckon Barcelona will come back with an offer closer to the figure they were told and that will be the end of the matter. The question is then, will we spend it wisely? Of which the only answer is that the evidence based on previous experience is not good.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Aug 2017 11:29:27
If you're right Mr Dennis then I don't know what Barcelona are thinking because Eriksen is definitely worth more that £100 lol.

You mention Aldiweirald Ed but Vertonghen was better last season.

Agree2 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - I just couldn't be bothered to continue the list mate, or there is Lloris too.}

14 Aug 2017 11:58:10
I agree about the press Ed and also we tend to be so comfortable in possession that the midfielders makes runs vacating the middle which means if we lose the ball the midfield is empty. I would just worry who would be sacrificed for Couts in the middle. If you take out Can or Wiji then that definitely leaves us more lightweight. If you take out Lallana we lose the one that triggers the press and everyone ends up chasing the ball instead of a structured press at the right time. That being said it might have given us a better chance of breaking teams down if Pip was picking passes from deep. I guess now we'll never know but we have to look forward not backwards and simply do what's best for the team and move on.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Aug 2017 12:03:11
There is some bizarre rumour that Aldewiereld has a buy out clause of £22m next summer? Or is that just twitter twatter?

{Ed001's Note - I don't know to be honest but it would seem highly unlikely that Levy would agree to such a thing.}

Alright Ed for a long time i've held my tongue on this forum a lot of fans calling for Klopps head, these will be the same fans that where in jubilation once he came in as manager, not everyones perfect but if you know Klopp he has a formulae doesn't work over night but if he can get it right in german football the closest league to our own premier league i can't see him doing all that bad at liverpool transfer are transfer and as a liverpool fan we are more often then not dissapointed in what we produce for the last few years my dissapointment is once again champions league football and the signing just haven't been upto scratch, other then the ones who are constantly mentioned VVD, KEITA are there no alternatives people like lucas moura, pastore, Koulibaly as replacement who are just as good as the ones mentioned, everyone has gone mad on keita who looks a talent but i've heard it all before over the year remember anthony le talec, bruno cheyrou all played well one season before we signed and then couldn't produce all he would do is surely stop Lallana getting a game?

Agree1 Disagree1

14 Aug 2017 15:01:21
Keita is nothing like Moura or Pastore, Moura is a winger and Pastore a number ten, Keita is an all action box to box midfielder who had two very successful years in Austria with RB Salzburg then improved on that with a hugely successful season at higher level with RB Leipzig and certainly isn't comparable with any of Le Tallec or Bruno Cheyrou.

Agree1 Disagree0

14 Aug 2017 15:13:18
Lallana, kieta and Hendo midfield sounds extremely dynamic and would surely be a handful for anyone. Along with our unbelievable attacking unit of mane, firmino and salah. We look unplayable. Throw in studge and Can and I'm really optimistic. I think our defensive problems could be sorted with the right GK. Hope ward gets a go.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Aug 2017 15:23:08
Demicus, your sweeping statement that "Ericsson was better than any liverpool player last season" is simply not true. I ask you. "Would you swap him for mane? " Or coutinio lallana or firminio for that matter. Or Hendo.

This is the difference.

14 Aug 2017 16:58:38
If Coutinho leave's then its a big loss but, we have players in those position.

We are desperate for a number 8 or a playmaker in midfielder that passes the ball forwards with intent, we get lost passing the ball sideways and more worryingly at the weekend, playing long ball from the back in the first half on Saturday.

A real CDM would be great but, isn't a priority.

Plus CB of course.

Eds. Are there any legs to the Insigne rumours? Have we had any recent discussion with Napoli about him? If so, is a move for him strictly contingent on PC staying or going?

Separately - any word on Coutinho's and Sturridge's fitness for Tuesday? I thought DS was supposed to be ready for the Watford match.

Thank you all again eds for all the work you put in on this site. It is by far my go to place for LFC news.

Believable5 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I don't know of any interest in Insigne from us. The players at Napoli we have held interest at some point this summer are Koulibaly, Ghoulam, Hysaj and Zielinski. Koulibaly was considered as an alternative to VVD. Ghoulam we bought Robertson instead. Hysaj would only have been if TAA had struggled badly. Zielinski is only a possibility if Can goes, but he is one of many potential alternatives the club identified.

Couts won't play. Studger was left out as a precaution, he is available just not 100%.

Thank you mate.}

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - it is the injury, but it will be interesting to see if he will play when fit....}

Koulibaly and vvd are needed truth be told. Its ok us scoring for fun but leaking goals just negates all that fantastic football. Top keeper needed too. Couts money spent. Get as much as possible. Need it sorting and fast.

I looked at that Man United team yesterday and they dominated West Ham in every department, that was not good to watch at all. They were no only out playing them, but they physically dominated them as well like men against boys, that is what we are up against and I fear that we will fail that test miserably. Where is a Graeme Souness when you need one?

Agree2 Disagree0

14 Aug 2017 12:34:41
We raise our game against the bigger teams. It's the stoke, bourmouths, palaces of this world that we seem to come undone against. I would be happy if we could get a bit more structure to our defending. Going forward we have so much pace now, we won't struggle to get goals.
Need to do extra sessions in set piece defence. if we are even doing it lol by the looks of it. you would wonder haha.

Agree2 Disagree0

14 Aug 2017 14:21:46
If a team wants to play football we generally beat them, rarely lose. I don't know why we fail to break down 10 man defences? Don't see why we don't buy a cheap "big man" that guy at Swansea? Just to throw on at the end of games against the so called lesser teams if we need a goal. Never hurts to have a plan C. That is why we didn't beat utd last season, Jose didn't have the bottle to play football with us. Think the games are going to be explosive this season. We need to sign another high class midfielder as utd have bought well and we are on the verge of losing our best player.

I have a feeling ward would organise our defence properly at set pieces. Mingnolet is simply not bright enough or influential enough to organise them and karius doesn't speak English does he? Wards main attribute is confidence. I really hope he gets a shot as I rate him. It's not like our game is based on keeping clean sheets. What I mean is, with our style we are always going to concede so I see no problem in shifting things about back there. That said I haven't forgotten mingnolet heroics at end of last term. People are knocking him on here but he did a hell of a lot to help secure ucl qualification.

Eds, Danny ward was set for talks with klopp, I read somewhere. Any info on his future? Thanks for your input. Brilliant stuff.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I would expect Ward to seek assurances or a move. He won't get the assurances.}

14 Aug 2017 15:27:44
Thanks for reply ed. Sounds ominous mate. Sorry to go on, how do you see lfc's gk situation? Do you think we have enough? Who do you prefer out of the three.

Best football site on the net. Absolute privilege to have your insight eds.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - bit hard to pick one, each has not yet proven to be good enough over the longer term. However Migs showed signs of improvement at the end of last season, Karius and Ward haven't had a proper chance to prove themselves. So it is difficult but for me I would have got rid of Mignolet a long time ago, he is too nice and goalies need to be a bit nasty and keep the defenders on their toes. Personally I would like to see Ward given the shirt, he did enough with Huddersfield to suggest he deserves a shot.}

14 Aug 2017 15:48:08
Thanks a lot for the reply. I too would like ward to get a shot. If Huddersfield form won't get him a game I don't know what will? Didn't know that about mings, interesting. Thanks guys. Have a goodun.

Spot on Ed001. Give Ward no.1 shirt for the season - Migs at his best still just doesn't cut it.

Still cannot believe we haven't addressed our back 5 during this window. Yeah Robertson was signed. but really! I mean really! Is that it? know alternatives to VVD? No other keepers considered? What was the verdict on last season. Great going forward, crxp at the back. Well the crap at the back is still at the back. Gutted.

Well said red reaper. I know klopp believes in training over recruitment but there is a horse in a field at the end of my road. He could be trained by Henry Cecil and rode by Frank dettori but it's never going to win the derby. The boys resemble lost sheep defending set plays. We need x lot more work on the training ground but also someone outstanding. In every part of the fidld we have people you would call world class, except at the back.
