Anyone see this comment from BBC sport website (check the website before disagreeing, lazy sods lol)

"It doesn't bother me because I can't do more than I am doing, I can't work harder, I can't work better, " added Hodgson

Seriously in my job i'd be sacked for that; some/ most jobs are performanced based and the managers job of Liverpool is certainly that (all be it we are far more generous than some other clubs in keeping managers).

However my point is what must this tool do to lose his job; i wonder if he's had a bet with his best friend sir red nose on how long he can last.

And seriously is the squad that bad? If it was then Rafa shouldn't finish were he did and he's bought 7 players, i mean ffs the only one that's looked decent is meireles (remember i said what he bought, so shelvey and jovanivic not included).

We had a bit of an upsurge and our performance at Tottenham gave me nothing to moan about apart from the score but in my job i strive to better my performance every day; if i don't i stagnate (apologies if that's a spelling error) this guy needs to be out of our club, i can see people turning on NESV if they don't. TBH that's not great for us, complaining against old and new owners but ffs they need to take action.

This guy is making me lose my love of football; i was gutted Rafa left but by the same token knew why he had to, i was gutted because i thought we had a lot of talent in the youth/ reserves that would do as well in the future (remember Suso & Sterling are rafa's signings).

I couldn't watch the world cup (not that i cared apart from LFC players) because i was gutted to what a laughing stock we had become but this guy takes the biscuit.

Now i know we will have people saying support the team/ manager but players won't support the manager and not perform if they don't believe the ideas; don't blame the players if they performed prior to this and don't know then how can it be the players?

Sorry for the long post but if this idiot was in my house he'd be evicted.

I've watched quite abit of Spallettis football in italy and now in russia and i can't see it being good enough for our great club. His football is very reliant on the creativity of a small number of players and counter attacks. From what i remember his english isn't very good either. I like Loew and Coyle but think both would be expensive even if we waited till the summer but then again anyone worth getting would be so maybe that's just a necessary expenditure. So in closing Spalletti bad, but all suggestions and this site good!

What makes me laugh is all the Torres to Barcelona punts. All I can say is Barca are in huge debt which is growing each year and just whol will Torres be replacing, would it be David Villa who they only signed last year or will he warm the bench? If Torres goes there are realistically 4 options for him, Man City, Chelsea, AC Milan and Inter Milan. All are capable of raising the 40 million plus required, but i would not bank on it. My sources have told me that we will have a new Manager unless we see a marked improvement before the Jan transfer window. Hodgson is unlikely to have much say in any signings hence why John Henry stated most business is likely to be done at the end of the transfer window. As for the transfer targets, there are many, it will come down to if the players are available and if the prices are sensible, but some top quality could very well arrive. Please also do not believe the Pienaar to Tottenham rumours, where exactly would he play? He wants first team football and Tottenham cannot guarantee that. I feel a cheeky 2-3 mill bid along with Pienaar asking for the move, could well see him play for his favoured reds.

With the russian league finished for the season, luciano spalletti would be available. just won russian league with zenit, as well as russian cup, in his first season at the club. did well with roma, who werent a wealthy club, he had to leave because of greater financial difficulties having won 2 consecutive coppa italias and a supercoppe italiana. i would take him over roy anyday. and hes only 51, few years left ahead of him. what you think folks? ed? {ed's note - I can't really remember what kind of football his teams play, is it negative, defensive, typical Italian football? If so, no thanks, I have had enough of the with Ged, Rafa and now Roy.}

Hi, just heard the suarez deal is more a less complete and we expect him to publicise this deal within the first week or so of january!
Also heard recently that tevez is to join real madrid in january for around £30million which means kazim Benzima will be forced out starting 11 giving liverpool the chance to snap him up for around £20/ 25 million.
What do you think Ed?
YNWA_JA {ed's note - if we have Suarez lined up, why would we want Benzema as well?}
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
welll actually benzema will not leave because real madrid are trying to keep hold of their strikers as gonzalo higuain is out which is why they want tevez they will also pip us for llorente and they will sell benzema in summer. but we can expect to sign a striker definitely with suarez looking very likely but expect a few more names to chucked around the press up to january. also emerging again is the possibility of deffour, just trust me alot of the things i have said have popped up in hte press but maybe they use my posts ¬_¬
with that done can anyone tell me why we are chasing this "sessangon" guy he is 26 and not even tht good would cost alot more than boudebouz who is just as good maybe better faster and younger?editor is this sessangon worth a try?

me14 {ed's note - I can't say I have ever seen anything in him either, but you never know sometimes they can be undiscovered gems.}

Sevilla and Liverpool FC have reached an agreement, in principal, that Diego Capel will be sold to Liverpool for £13m (€16m) in January. All that remains is for Capel to agree personal terms.

This is what I'm being told by my "sources" (ie, my mate who's dad works as a scout for LFC, mainly in Spain/ Portugal). Never really been over-impressed with Capel when I've seen him. You can call it bull if you like, but this is what I am told by my "source" and he's been pretty solid so far.

Ed, What are the chances of Ayala being recalled from his loan in January? He has been bossing the defence for hull all season!

Also, Think it would be a brilliant move to get both Suarez & Cassano - Just imagine what could happen over who takes free kicks etc. . FIIIIIGHT! {ed's note - I don't know if we have the option to recall Ayala, I hope so, because to not put a recall clause in the loan contract shows extremely poor forward planning.}

His loan expires on the 1st of January 2011. Just to let you both know. {ed's note - Sky reported it as a season long loan at the time, shows how reliable they are!}

I believe Joey Barton was suggesting torres was a 'ladyboy' and was stating torres never had a penis by holding his crotch?
What you think ed? {ed's note - I thought he was asking Nando out for dinner. . .it certainly seemed like he was offering his services anyway.}

Last thing I heard is Torres had 2 kids and a wife. While Joey Barton has a criminal record. I think we all know who the real man is

Dale Jennings of Tranmere is still a name that is cropping up as a potential target for the January transfer window. But this means he is just being scouted, along with many, many others, and not that he will definitely be joining the reds! From what I have seen of him, he looks an outstanding talent and it is telling that opposing managers are already making specific plans to try to stifle the threat he poses, for instance by putting no less than 2 man to man markers on him. This is truly remarkable considering he is still only 17 years old! Will he join us? Well, whilst Tranmere are likely to be a willing, if reluctant, seller, my gut feeling is that Liverpool will get cold feet on bringing him back to the club he started out at, concerned that he won't be able to make the transition to Premier League football. Similarly, Jennings himself might not want to come back either! Sadly, I suspect he will end up at Everton, where David Moyes will harbour no such doubts!
The only other name I am consistently hearing is the young Dane, Erikksen from Ajax, but this again is in a scouting capacity and not a definite bidding target.

Elsewhere, the word on the street is that the club [owners etc] are looking to reduce overall squad numbers by no fewer than twenty players over the next 18 months. I don't have any names, other than Itandje being the first of these, but it would not be too difficult to speculate on others. Older, high earners on the fringes of the first team, some players currently out on loan and several youngsters not deemed good enough, are likely to bear the brunt of any cull. There are two key drivers behind this strategy. Firstly, wage costs. Whilst overall income coming into the club is comfortably sufficient to cover all running costs including wages, some areas of income arrive in lump sums [TV and sponsorship money; transfer installments etc.] rather than as a continuous cash flow. The day to day cash flows, generally used to fund wages and salaries, are often stretched and the club are keen to improve flexibility in this particular area.
The second element to the policy decision is the 25 man first team squad limit, which, ironically, will impact upon our under 21s and we may witness some tough decisions being made as far as many of our talented youngsters are concerned. This year there has not been a problem. Indeed, we have not even taken up our entire 25 man allocation. But signings made over the next two or three windows could fill this void, meaning that any youngsters approaching their 20th or 21st birthdays could find themselves being cast aside if they cannot be guaranteed a slot on the next 25 man rosta, as it becomes more and more established and vacancies are at a premium. As they will have little or no transfer value in such a scenario, there will be few long contracts handed out to youngsters and chances are that coaches will start making decisions to move them on at age 19 or so, whilst there is still a possibility of getting some financial return.

Roy and David have decided that Fernando Llorente is the right forward to partner torres and to play alone wtihout him, hes got the strength for the prem and not too slow.

The winger they want is a fast skillful winger with a good cross.

Can I ask who David is? Do you mean Comolli, coz its Damien. .

Ed psvelnino here again just wondering what your thought are on this point please.do you think. Roy could have been overwhelmed by the caliba of the players and has been a bit soft on the superstars, but after a meeting with the owners this week hes been told to kick ass and that is why some will play tomorrow and if they don't raise there game he will go cheers mate.ps will be intresting tomorrow night. {ed's note - I think it is more a case of Roy needing wins to keep his job.}

Hodgson will be gone before the transfer window opens.
The new owners realise that a big majority of the fans don't want him and when you actually look at his record it is far from impressive.During the interview on lfc tv it was quite odvious to them that many fans would like to see a new manager in place as soon as possible and it only confirmed their own feelings that roy just isn't up to the job.
A search for a new manager has already begun and a shortlist that includes rijkaard, martin jol, and ronald koeman has already been presented to the board.they realise that time is of the essence with the transfer window looming and because of the timescale john henry hinted that any new signings would probably be towards the end of the window.this allows time for the new manager to sit down with the board and discuss his ideas on new recruits and listen to comolli's ideas and kennys views on how we move this club forward.
expect an announcement on the managers position after the fulham game regardeless of the result!

Not sure why Hodgson would be given 3 games to save his job. Either NESV believe in him or they don't. He's clearly not the right man for LFC from a fans viewpoint and not a NESV recruit either. Therefore it's purely a timing issue before he goes. I like the thought of Kenny in on a temp basis but he'd be difficult to change if the team won 5 on the bounce etc and long term he may not be the answer - plus Kenny is too important to lose if it didn't go well. I'd like a younger manager to come in who has a good track record and would see LFC as a career high - Owen Coyle is impressive in press conferences and in the football he plays but it might be a little too early for him - but he'd certainly be on the short list. Other than that it needs to be someone who can bring young talent through and mould them into world class players. .recruit David dein as CEO and beg Wenger to come lol.

Imo Roy has till the blackburn game on the 3rd Jan. We have fulham home, blackpool away then bolton home I believe Roy has to get maximum points to save his job kk will take over as manager till a permanent manager can be found as he can't do any worse than Roy. This will give both nesv and kk time to see if he can still do the job, if he can he will stay on a permanent deal if not someone will be brought in. This is just what I believe will happen, after all nobody knows whats gona happen till it does. Me personaly hope it does. great site ed keep up the good work

Not a rumour more an idea which I would be interested in other fans views on. The following assumes roy remainng in charge and signing players from the epl, which i think is most likely in january. Say roy is given £25 m. Lets assume no one goes so we got just that amount

what about- Clint Dempsey say 6-9m, or,
Charlie Adam say 3 -4.5
Adam Johnson 10-12m
Dann or Johnson 4-7m

I'd continue ngog development, I think he has potential to be an excellent squad player for years to come, and I don't think any striker of exceptionally better quality will join in the window so why waste the money.
I think these highly realistic signings have the potentail to allow us to push for 4th and continue the good run in the europa league, allowing the owners to long at long term targets for next season.

These aren't galmorous buys, ( johnson aside) but i think they'd get the job done in what is, lets face it, a holding season for liverpool. {ed's note - if you are just looking at Prem players, would Pienaar not be worth a shout? Liverpool fan in the final year of his contract, he would be fairly cheap.}

Mrs Benitez and family are back living on The Wirral and the girls are back at school as of today.

They all love living in Caldy and have loads of good friends. The girls love their school because their best friends go there.
All I can say is Rafa must be kicking himself because he could still be Liverpool manager if he hadn't been so stubborn. He probably now realises he blew it. There must be a small possiblity he could go to Blackburn if the Indians pay him well and give him a good transfer budget.

A merry Christmas 2 everyone on ere !

Hey Ed, I just wanted your opinion, if Tevez leaves City for Madrid. City will definitely go all out for Torres.

IF (Big IF) Torres was to move to City, would you sweeten the deal for Adam Johnson/ some big MC player. Or would you want straight cash? {ed's note - I would happily take Johnson, he caught my eye as a kid a long time ago when my parents lived by Boro's training ground. I went up there to watch them train whenever I was up there visiting and he stood out so much I had to ask who he was. Mind he didn't stand out as much as Gazza did the first time I ever went there, it was pre-season training and he came out looking like a darts player. I really thought Jimmy 5-bellies had come to train with them, but Gazza was great, really nice to be fair. I hate to say but Brian Robson and Viv Anderson were too, they gave me a bit of stick for being there wearing a Liverpool shirt! Oh and Schwarzer was the worst keeper I have ever seen in my life in that training session, he dropped everything, and I do mean everything.}

Just to add a point to the below, NESV are building for the future, Hodgson is here to bring stability to the club as it stands. He has a two year contract (18 months left) and when his contract is up he would of brought in 2 or 3 English players for the future. Ashley Young, Gary Cahill and another.

Then a new manager will come in with the ideas to take the club forward. Jose or Capellio will be the next liverpool manager trust me.

Quote from Woy's pre-match press conference;

". . I can't do more than I am doing, I can't work harder, I can't work better."

Cheers Woy !

Ed, what managers do you think will be looked at to take over next season ?

ElRoja {ed's note - I don't know mate, I would expect Boas, Loew and pretty much every successful manager on the continent to be considered. NESV seem very thorough to me. It will probably be a continental manager to fit in with the system they have created I would think.}

Davy Boy, perhaps you are confused as to the purpose of this site. Check out the link, it is a RUMOURS site. Nobody knows what is going to happen until pen is put to paper and a team issues a press release, but by then it isn't a rumour, it is a fact. Understand? If this site is too complicated for you, go somewhere else, those of us who have been coming here for years appreciate this site and the work the Eds do to keep it going.

I have also heard that liverpool are going to invest heavily on top teenage talents from around the world with ZZ bringing theese lads on

Most of the young lads being mentioned as possible Targets are of similar age to some of the reserve lads who are not getting opportunities under Roy. I would tell Comoli not to waste the air miles, as our experienced manager only wants to play experienced players. Paul Dalglish talked about Danny Wilson being the young player of the year in scotland, coming to liverpool to play junior football with the reserve team.The Greek wasnt good enough for Rangers yet we play him in front of a lad the Gers didn't want to sell. It is a bit ironic .Do you think Kenny would have giving the lad ago if he was in charge Ed. {ed's note - yes I do, it was Kenny that was the main mover behind the decision to buy him.}

Apparantly Liverpool have made an enquiry about Piquionne, Roy thinks he may be available in Jan cheap as WHU are preferring Obina and Cole up front.

Not sure the outcome or even how realistic it is but apparantly contact has been made. Supposedly Roy views him as a good short term option.

With the imminent departure of Carlos Tevez from Man City, does anyone feel that he would make a great strike partnership with Torres? Just seen us linked with a £4m move for Ryad Boudebouz. All I know is that he is highly rated in France, and was asked to play for France but he chose to play for Algeria because his dad or something wanted him to play for them.

Meant to be quick and skillful. And only 20-years-old. Plus he's left footed which would give us much needed balance and width. I hope he's not just like Aaron Lennon, quick with skill but no end product. But I do hear he is good with crosses and set-pieces.

For £4m, its worth a go. He's bound to be better than the options we have, and he's only 20.

I have a good relationship with someone who has info about him. The ONLY way he won't join L.F.C is if L.F.C itself decide to back out (which i don't think will happen). Lets hope for the best.

Now this may sound stupid, as I am a little bit sceptical but apparently, Luis Suarez and his family spent the afternoon in Albert Dock. If anyone has any info on this, please tell me.

The only way anybody could spend an entire afternoon at the Albert Dock would be either chaining oneself to the bar in the Pumphouse, getting locked in the toilets of the Tate, or throwing oneself into the Mersey at the thought of Hodgson still being here in two years time. I therefore conclude that if Mr Suarez did spend the afternoon at the Albert Dock, he must be a complete moron, because it is, as the saying goes, s***. Then again, he did recently get banned for biting an opponent, so perhaps he is a moron, and at this very moment is walking round Greenbank Park lake wearing a Beatles t-shirt.

Anybody else reckon after watching the owner/ chairman etc on lfc tv, the channel blocked alot of the awkward questions about Woy? If the owners are all about listening to the fans they should react to the overwhelming impression that 80% of fans do not want Woy at the club, whether there is a permanant manager in place or not. We surely have plenty of people at the club, associated at the club whether present or ex to improve things on the pitch until that replacement is found.
I know Blackburn is a totally different kettle of fish however their new owners have made the decision to get rid of sam and who are they likely to attract, no one of the stature that we could!
Feel like most responses to the questions was all about similar situations at the Red Sox and I believe they made a swift response into getting rid of their team management so why not with us.
Ed whats your thoughts? I know you view is it will be done when the right man is found, but surely we can not keep going on like this? Please post on main page, would like to see peoples reaction Bel & Unbel.
Great site Ed, thanks. {ed's note - I feel the same way, but they want to avoid as much disruption as they can. Hopefully their approach will be better for the club in the long term.}

Just a scenario. . . . If Hodgson was to get sacked due to fan pressure and, for example, King Kenny was installed as interim manager, if results did not improve because we have poor quality players, would you then call for Kenny to get sacked? Anf if he then did get sacked, again because of fan pressure, how long would the next manager get?
As far as I can tell, Hodgson is here for the season and no more.

Ref "I agree with the person who claimed Ed is full of poo"

If you don't like what your reading F*** OFF.

Heard a couple of people here talking about Honda, quite a good World Cup but hasn't settled in Russia, think this would be quite a good signing.
Don't be suprised to see Roy go soon, seeds have been sown i.e results need to improve quote , things won't improve under Roy as he has no sense of the traditions built up by previous greats.

'Some people believe football is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that.' (Sir)Bill Shankly

Thats what Liverpool FC are currently missing, every single fan I know would pay to walk onto the pitch at Anfield wearing that Kit unfortunately we are paying people who don't care millions to exactly what all of us dream of.

Major changes ahead PLEASE!

Great site Ed, thanks. {ed's note - I feel the same way, but they want to avoid as much disruption as they can. Hopefully their approach will be better for the club in the long term.}

Hey guys, I just read this on soccernet:

Hodgson denied speculation linking both Ronaldinho and Ajax captain Luis Suarez, and although he admitted he was a long-term admirer of Aston Villa winger Ashley Young, he insisted there had been no communication between the clubs.

Not something you want to hear.

Good shot ed. Such people who keep whining should be smacked out of this site with a broom stick. Losers.
Is it possible to know who we are looking at? And who WILL come? Idiot !

Ed. Read in caught off side that we are looking to sign adrian maari mutu and alex govardhan pandianivel.

Have you heard about this through your sources? I ve not even heard of such players ! {ed's note - never heard of the second one, but isn't Mutu the guy sacked by Chelsea for cocaine use? If so, I very much doubt we would even be looking at him, I am sure I remember him getting into more trouble recently for failing another drugs test.}

Just a quick note,

I agree with the person who claimed Ed is full of poo, a while ago i asked for a % against rumours that have become true, and as I thought it never got posted.

It seems that no one really knows what is going on including ED!

The biggest thing to happen in the summer was Raul Mierles and he was never once mentioned on the site.

Bet you won't post this one either! {ed's note - what a question about % that came through didn't get posted, oh no it must be a conspiracy! Ever thought that it is because us editors don't have time for dealing with any more than editing what is sent in each day as we all have jobs or education to worry about? People like you only make yourself look stupid - I have said a thousand times now that I am not going to know who is coming in, no one will any more. It will all be down to just finding out who we are watching and making an educated guess. It is not like the Rafa days when all the players knew who was being chased, none of them have a clue now. Now don't waste my time with any more of your whines because it will just be ignored - I have a job to do and don't appreciate having my time wasted replying to petty whines.}

* * * *

ha ha ha - well said Ed!

its a rumour site so its down to each of us as to whether we believe it or not! i take it all with a pinch of salt and nothing is done until they have signed.

Morning Ed
What do you know about Ryad Boudebouz? Apparently hi is regarded as one of the most exciting creative midfielders in French football thanks to his close control, exciting dribbling and sweet left foot and he's been linked to us. Source, goal {ed's note - I don't watch a lot of French football, I don't know anything about him sorry. Have you seen him play?}

Strong rumour doing the rounds is a swap deal involving Carlton cole for Joe cole. Joe hasn't settled at Liverpool and wants to go back home and hodgson, s no 1 signing has always been Carlton.it would appear a done deal with all parties extremely happy".

Not all parties. I would suggest millions of Liverpal fans across the globe will be tearing their hair out at the thought of that donkey Carlton Cole pulling a red shirt on

Now this may sound stupid, as I am a little bit sceptical but apparently, Luis Suarez and his family spent the afternoon in Albert Dock. If anyone has any info on this, please tell me.

I just got back from Japan. .was there for 2 months. I know there are huge buzz about Keisuke Honda. And I can assure you that there is almost 99% chance he is going to sign for Liverpool F.C. I have a good relationship with someone who has info about him. The ONLY way he won't join L.F.C is if L.F.C itself decide to back out (which i don't think will happen). Lets hope for the best.
