Hi ed, do you think we will buy a holding midfielder to partener Lucas or cover him? I.e someone like Javi Martinez, Walter Gargano or Nigel De Jong?
Cheers mate! {Ed001's Note - I doubt we will buy any of those 3, it is possible we will buy a central midfielder, but it is not the main priority, so it will only be if the right one comes onto the market, I think.}

So eds do you think Moussa Sissoko will be on the market this summer? {Ed002's Note - Perhaps.}

We have a surplus of central midfielders at the moment, a big name defensive mid would be highly unlikely.

There was talk between Napoli and Liverpool about Walter Gargano in the Jan Window. But Since Napoli still were in Champions league it did not go through. Gargano is availeble for transfer at 5mill. A bargain price in my opinion. A good player resemblance to Macherano. But Summerwindow is far away. It could Happen Though!

With spearing, adam, henderson (eventually management will realise he cant play wide right), the promising shelvey and Gerro (for another two seasons at least) surely the wings are a bigger priority? Moreover, would we buy another CM untill we have permanently offloaded Cole and Aquilani?

ed any int in the following - adrian lopez or oscar (internacional) think both would be great signings . {Ed001's Note - not that I know of.}

14 Mar 2012 22:16:56
How much do you think that baines would cost eds?ta {Ed001's Note - they wouldn't sell him to us.}

Enrique is our first choice left back so why would we buy Baines.....cant see him sitting on the bench to play reserve left back or Everton selling him to us for that matter. Quite simply left back is not a priority....Robinson may even step up as cover for enrique

I know there's always talk of Lavezzi and Cavani, but with us needing a right winger have we not looked into the possibility of Marek Hamsik. Looks a great player?

Again, I am sick of people mentioned unrealistic targets. Do you not realise we are no longer a top 4 team and these type of world class players will have little interest coming here to play for a team who finish 7th/8th every year and are over the moon about winning the Carling Cup

He's not a right winger and only just signed a contract extension

Hamsik on the right wing? The man is a very attacking minded center midfielder, moving him to the right would be suicidal

Of the 3 lavezzi is the closest to a winger

I am sorry but he is not that fantastic! He is not good enough for Liverpool

Hamsik is an amf mate and would be no good as a rw....... would of loved him instead of henderson tho so i signed him on fifa ( only chance of seein him in a liverpool shirt )

I must be missing the point on Hamsik, I have watched him around 10 times in the champions league against different opposition and he looked distinctly average or worse everytime. I genuinely do not understand the hype.

I didnt think much of him yesterday and i am sure he will nt solve our winger problems

Hamsik is certainly much better than Charlie Adam as an ACM. Since Lucas left, Adam has struggled. He is not much versatile and his crosses and corners were often average. One of the reasons for our lack of goal scoring ability is the fact that we do not get too many bodies inside the opposition's penalty box. Luis and Carroll are often found isolated inside the box. SG demonstrated that night how an attacking mf can benefit from the creative instinct of suarez.

any chance of lucas making any of the final games of the season Eds?
taran {Ed001's Note - yes, there is a chance he might get the last couple of games, probably no more than a sub though.}

It wont make a blind bit of difference our season if over bar the FA Cup. no point rushing him back - although on second thoughts, Lucas on crutches is probably better than spearing or adam

Having Spearing as a backup for lucas isn't a bad idea he has been improving. His last few games I thought spearing was alright.

I feel for Lucas. Laid up at home recovering from ACL reconstruction myself. Wouldn't wish it on anyone.
s1280

Seriously? Wouldn't that be rushing is recovery a bit. ACL is a 9 month recovery I thought.

Hi Ed just a quick one:

which players will be leaving in the summer:

Johnson
Maxi
Aquilani
J Cole

would any of the following be coming to the first team:

Suso
Sterling
Eccleston

is Pacheco coming back in the summer:

Also i would like the following player to become lfc players:

Marko Marin
Keisuke Honda
Sergio Canales

What Are you thoughts any chance of the following

Trigger61

{Ed002's Note - Aquilani will be gone soon. Cole in the summer. Maxi probably in the summer and perhaps Johnson. There is much information and opinion already given on the youngsters so I won't bother giving more. Arsenal, AC Milan, Chelsea, Liverpool, Spurs, Napoli, Juventus and Roma have all shown an interest in Marko Marin in the past. Much will depend on whether or not Liverpool make the Champions League as to whether he is a viable option or not; and the summer is a considerable distance away at present. Perhaps Italy is the most likely destination, and I understand his preferred destination. Dalglish has spurned Honda on several occasions already. Canales has been out injured since October with a crutiate injury but remains at Valencia. He is on a loan to buy deal and will not be moving to Liverpool next season. I suspect that the player has no interest in a move away from Spain as demonstrated by the previous interest of Manchester City and Arsenal being rejected.}

I would expect the following to leave in the summer.....

Johnson
Adam (I hope)
Aquca
Darby
Cole
Kuyt
Maxi
Auerlio
Jones

And 3-4 players coming in.....

LW/RW
ST
CM

Hi eds, are we interested in moussa dembele? {Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware. I do know that some web pages say Liverpool are.}

I hope it's true the guy is absolute quality, it's only a matter of time before he ends up at a top club really hope it's ours.

Hi eds, any interest in following players:
Luuk de Jong
Dusan Tadic
David Texeira
Kuba Blaszczykowski
Moussa Sissoko
Marko Marin {Ed002's Note - Try the search function.}

Ed, whats with the rumour that was pulled of facebook and other sites claiming a report that was pasted, with loic remmy claiming he will be at spurs next year and is looking forward to linking up with hazard?? my question is why would it be pulled if it was just a made up rumour? {Ed002's Note - I don't use Facebook or anything like it, sorry. Why are you concerned about a Spurs link?}

Because his (hazards) dad advised him to join a club like spurs & if that were the case? why not liverpool? {Ed002's Note - Aside from the cost and the lack of interest, there is his rotten attitude that is bothering clubs. Would Liverpool be happy with one of their players talking to the press telling how he would like to join Barcelona, Real Madrid etc.?}

Hi eds! I keep hearing people say that kenny and comolli have said there will be no new sighnings in the summer is this true because i have not heard them say that?lfc8 {Ed002's Note - I don't think anyone has suggested there will be no signings at all, but just played down expectations that there will be significant changes again.}

Under the upcoming FIFA financial fair play rules, most clubs will be curtailing thier spending over the coming windows and thinking before they spend. I would expect we will only be signing players who we really need and the price is right and we can shift an existing player to help with their transfer fee and wages. Therefore taking £40m from someone stupid enough to pay it (i.e. PSG or Anzhi) for Suarez might make sense in this context as we could use the cash to strengthen the team with 2-3 quality players whilst at the same time balancing the books

Not for £40m, double that and think about it

14 Mar 2012 13:14:54
Ed, are we still interested in acquiring an attacking, creative midfielder even if Suarez were to stay? Cheers pal

ToonRed {Ed002's Note - It was my postulation that the options exists, particularly if Suarez leaves. If he stays, we will have to see but such a move would provide options to the team - or perhaps a suitable player could be promoted in to that role from teh reserves?}

R u suggesting Suso Ed.

AJ {Ed002's Note - I am not suggesting anyone in particular.}

May be suso is that player?

Suso and Joao Carlos Teixeira can both be the options. Well, I wish to see some academy lads getting involved soon. Best wishes for tonight, though. Big game against Ajax. YNWA

Nah raheem stirling we need to start promoting our youngsters anyway even if suarez stays create our own bale

Suso will be promoted before Sterling, Sterling needs another half year to year he's barely gone 17 after all, and the fan expectation of a kid that young when he gets his chance wont be fair.

Ed, could Toni Silva possibly be promoted after looking good whilst on loan at Northampton? Cheers

ToonRed {Ed002's Note - I really don't know.}

ed

im sick of damien commoli and kenny saying we will not be signing anyone in the summer even though we clearly need some new players could you give an indication on liverpools targets {Ed002's Note - We have explained what we know already, and repeatedly. There will likely be a right winger, a striker and a goalkeeper. There is interest in certainl players we know of Phillips, De Jong etc. but the summer remains some way off. If Suarez leaves I would expect some sort of replacement for him as well.}

Maybe commoli and daglish saying ths so that other clubs wont hike up the prices when we move in for their players..im pretty sure we will sign some quality players that will improve our squad..just give them time..we already waited more than 20 years..why dont we give them 1 more year?...'once red n always will be one'!

Surely andy carrol has got to go

Kuba' Błaszczykowski and Robert Lewandowski are both on Liverpool's summer list

http://www.polishsoca.com/newswire/poles-abroad/2865-liverpool-looking-into-borussia-duo

For crying out loud atleast spell the places name properly. Its not Kuba, its Jakub.... {Ed002's Note - It is a person not a place and it is a name he goes by - a la Suso, Jordi etc..}

Well that's a couple of big name signings

According to Bild Zeitung, Lewandowski (who is currently on approx. 25K per week) and his agent are not happy with Dortmund's new contract to 2017 offer.

Tx {Ed002's Note - Dortmund's Lewandowski has been watched by Liverpool, Rubin Kazan, Spartak Moscow (who are concerned about losing Welliton) and Lille. I very much suspect Bayern Munich would be top of the list with a cheque in hand.}

We will be staying at Anfield..

Cheers

Macca

Yea! Best news all day! Singred

Great new, thanks Macca
littleT

Happy we are staying at anfield but only for sentimental reasons. The club will never be able to compete with united or any other major European clubs in the long run now with us only having a maximum capacity of 60k, especially with this FFF being introduced over the next couple of years. {Ed002's Note - Any costs associated with improvements to the facilities and infrastructure are excluded from consideration in the FFP rules.}

Any News on if and when it will be expanded Macca?

So Macca,

When will we hear the news from the horses mouth?

Marc

I'm happy to stay at Anfield....but you have to admit...the artists impression of the second new stadium design was a bit swish...think the re-furb was always on the cards after Boston's gaff was done

Next question....when?!

Allseeingaaiiii

Ed 02, i think the guy above brought up the FFP rules to point out the lack of additional revenue with only increasing to 60k , rather than the costs incurred {Ed001's Note - yes but that is irrelevant when we would to accept 60k in the short term whichever option we took. The reason it has taken so long is because they were looking into the future option of increasing capacity and how it would be done. It is going to involve a regeneration of the entire area, the infrastructure will be improved and Liverpool FC will contribute to that. It is going to take time, but they are not looking at increasing to 60k and staying at 60k, they are looking at using the increased revenue to invest in better infrastructure, which in turn will allow capacity to be increased.}

Ed 002, I don't mean costs associated to the ground regarding FFP I was talking about not being able to generate enough cash to compete against other major European clubs by just increasing the ground by 15k with no room for further expansion in the future. Plus we don't have enough executive boxes to generate as much as the like of say arsenal. Just thinking hypothetically of course without knowing the full details. {Ed002's Note - Broadly speaking the club know what the best they can do financially is - offsetting the cost of development against the cost of a new build, redevelopment etc.. My own view has been that the club will look at a phased improvement of Anfield bring the ground up to code and adding some additional seating in the not too distant future. As for "Executive Boxes", the club will know what they can achieve in terms of corporate sales and have already made it clear that they will not be able to compete with the likes of the London based clubs to generate income from such sources. The general feeling is that fewer people will actually be going to the matches in the future so each club has a practical limit in terms of size. We know there is a squeeze on money and folks who would like to attend games cannot afford to do so and either watch games at home or go to a bar to watch them. As time passes there will be higher quality streams of games that can be watched across the internet, on later generation televisions, tablets, mobile devices and whatever future technology throws at us. So I very much see that there is a practical capacity limit for all clubs and that in the medium term that is likely to be 60k for Liverpool.}

Is this the real macca

Scouse ben {Ed002's Note - It would not get posted if it were not.}

Thanks Macca. Happy about that, although wonder how much disruption will be caused while it's going ahead!

Keith

So Ed001 im sure you would agree that this is the best step forward or what were your views on this. Personally i feel this is great

Quigz23 {Ed001's Note - I always wanted us to stay at Anfield. I am delighted they have managed to make it work, it has cheered me up. Just a shame it couldn't fix my boiler too!}

Ed were dose it say that we are redeveloping anfield? {Ed002's Note -If the club are not moving elsewhere then Anfield will be redeveloped at least to bring it up to code. There is no "do nothing" option beyond the short-term.}

Ed and whwt changes are they goin to make?tanx {Ed002's Note - We don't have any details right now.}

Maybe the fans who sold their shares can have them back now?

after all, the promise from the previous yonks was "spade in the ground in 60 days".

nesv are in effect the buyer of stolen goods.
and they dont seem to be the type to invest in lfc do they?!

To the above, if you think FSG are going to sell LFC soon then you are very wrong. I agree they are not too keen in football and that they have bought the club as an investment. but the club still has so much potential to generate income the owners aren't gonna let go of the club so easily. the will continue to invest in the club to raise its status, but dont expect so much on playing staff though.

Sorry ed cant help there.... Although should you be looking to buy a phone id b ur man lol... great news all the same. I've only ever had the luxur

So eds do you know when they will start to redevelop anfield then? {Ed001's Note - I would expect that nothing will be done during the season. It makes sense to start following the last home game of the season.}

Brilliant news!
Not a chance though they could start work at the end of the season... Earliest would be a June 2013 start on (probably) the Main Stand. Then June 2014 on Annie Rd...
I reckon...

Anyone who thinks Anfield is easy to expand might wanna consider a day at the match. ( altho admittedly £45 to watch Andy Carroll aint exactlt a bargain).

Most of the ground is poor or VER Y poor quality. Check out obstructed views in 2 stands. And the lower main has to rank as the most pitiful facilities in English football.
Its clear we've got short term, cheapskating, bxxxxxxt merchants at the helm. There again with Downing and Adam there, maybe a 20k ground will suffice in the future.
Come on people, demand better! {Ed001's Note - you don't even have a point there. Because the stadium is out of date and in need of updating that makes it more difficult does it? What world do you live in? The issue is not the ground itself, but the surrounding area, it always has been.}

14 Mar 2012 00:26:39
after a great win tonight at anfield heard to rumours going around the ground

tickets for lounges in the club are going to go up by two thousand a season for people who buy tickets their

also the main one of interest is that the club museum is going to be totally revamped and upgraded with thousands or millions spent on it.

if these are true then the club will be looking to stay at anfield

They are joking aren't they?
Worse product every year. Higher prices every year. Are we supporters or mugs. Goodbye NESV, hello DIC and fan ownership.
