From what I've heard... It is a rumour site but on good authority.

As the Premier League season hasn't surpassed the 30 game mark the season will become null and void.

Theres only 3 teams wanting to continue the season in April as it stands and that is Liverpool, Sheffield United and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

One aspect the league is "apparently" looking at is cancel cup games and play league games behind closed doors from April, but obviously teams in cup games could refuse to play league games and so on....

The other and more likely outcome is declare this season void and start next season as this season with the same clubs in the same cup competitions etc...

So looking more and more likely good no Premier League for Liverpool.

The most obvious solution is to suspend the season until this virus has settled down and then continue the season - even if it goes into next season. If we have to write next season off or delay it to complete this season then so be it. That's the only fair way to do it.

14 Mar 2020 19:29:23
Write off next season? sorry, that would be more ridiculous of it got that late.

{Ed002's Note - It is simply rubbish that should not be posted on the rumours page.}

I see Karen Brady has chimed in with voiding the season, desperate attempt to avoid relegation.

Absolutely ed. can't see the sense in giving up a full season for sake of 9 games in this season.

15 Mar 2020 00:23:57
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that I don't think Karen Brady would suggest voiding the season if West Ham were 22 points clear at the top of the table .

Who said write off next season? I said write of this season?

It's likely this season will finish null and void and next season the same teams will be in the same cup competitions as this season.

Circulating rumours suggest there's 3/ 4 teams definitely want to finish the season, don't take word for it as its a rumour site.

You can't finish the season if not all teams are willing to finish and they'll use every excuse to try not finish especially the bottom 5 teams.

You can't finish as it is as teams have game in hands to get out the relegation zone.

The best outcome to suit 19/ 20 of the premier League teams is to void and null. Health comes first.

Agree0 Disagree1

15 Mar 2020 04:13:26
Exactly like klopp

So far into a season there's no way it should be void, regardless of liverpool being top or not.

Also it's not like its even close at the top, if there was 1 point in it I'd understand it more.

It's also not fair on teams pushing for promotion.

I'd let any teams with games in hand play there games then that's how the tables finish. Test each team 1st and if there clear then play the games behind closed doors.

They could also do this for the cup games then they can be finished.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Mar 2020 08:39:07
The season is over.

People who are in cup games won't want to play league games, if cup gets cancelled to lighten the load.

People who are bottom of table won't want to play league games.

The only way forward is to null and void the season it's the best outcome for everyone.

Top officials have already said 75% chance season won't be finished so prepare for the worst.

Postpone the euros till 2021.

Prepare for the 20/ 21 season now beat way forward.

The virus with be worse in April than it is now by the way.

Football without fans is nothing it's a fan based game and they won't play the rest of the games behind closed doors.

Tobliw you are presenting speculation and supposition as fact. You don't know anymore than the rest of us what the outcome will be. There is a lot of hysteria at the moment based on what people think will happen. Hopefully as more facts emerge about the virus and it's not as bad as it's being portrayed things will calm down.

This is all rubbish. There are two meetings this coming week where the immediate future will be decided. Ed002 will probably be attending - I assume. The first may decide to move the UEFA Euros to 2021 and the latter will make a case for what the EPL might be expected to do. The SARS CoV 2 virus is dynamically changing by the moment and it is highly unlikely anyone can predict what will happen next. We are seeing agencies and bodies reacting to news as it becomes available. and to be honest, the only important detail is whether we can start to control the impact of this horrid virus before the winter comes with its inevitable flu epidemic.

15 Mar 2020 12:11:30
Rubbish Tobliw, as a few have posted, no one knows what’s going to happen, things are changing day by day.

And your comments regarding playing behind closed doors is also nonsense! Matches are played behind closed doors all the time, especially clubs that get penalised for football violence etc.

So it can be done.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Mar 2020 14:44:30
Obviously Tobliw isn't a Liverpool supporter, as why say crap like this otherwise, when all options are still open and yet to be decided! Let the authorities deal with it, as they will.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I completely agree it should never have been posted and is all nonsense.}

15 Mar 2020 15:22:27
Look tobliw, it's incredibly clear you are a rival fan looking for rise.

It's not the only option and you know it. Liverpool will be crowned champions this season. Although as a rival fan you may get some joy in the fact that it probably won't be how we would like to win it by celebrating on pitch victory.

All this pales in comparison with those who will lose loved ones. So stay safe everyone and look after your loved ones. Any vulnerable ones self isolating, help with their shopping and call them regularly.

YNWA MEANS MORE TODAY THAN EVER!

Can anyone confirm if this 14 club majority vote to void/ null the season is an actual rule?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Only if it were a majority vote, but it is a decision that would require no black ball votes (so for or abstain only) from all clubs.

15 Mar 2020 20:09:39
Only thing that makes this rumor sound like crap to me is the lack of Man U and Leicester. Why would they be ok with a CL status quo when they have a shot of making it this season?

I don't know what the most fair solution to this is. Maybe if this all blows over within a reasonable time before next season, we play all the games in hand then do CL and relegation playoff tournaments for any teams within, say, 6 points of 4th of 18th? We really do deserve the title, and I doubt many supporters of other clubs (who don't hate us) would disagree. Not sure I'm thrilled about the asterisk, but whatever.

Thank you for your response Ed002!
I'm just trying to think of 7 teams who wouldn't want the season voided - just in case .

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I really don't understand, sorry. It is not going to be a majority vote in respect of Liverpool and agreement to scratch the season will be driven by other issues.}

16 Mar 2020 01:07:07
If voided I'm not sure Liverpool can be crowned champions without awarding other teams on their own merits (positions), like qualification and relegation etc.

{Ed002's Note - Based on what?}

Liverpool should and will be awarded the title no doubt about it. If the season were to continue then I think this needs to be settled on the PS4 with FIFA 20. Each team chooses their best FIFA player to play the remaining fixtures of the season. They would play the full 90 minutes and would require 2subs only with one of them being a goalkeeper. All matches will be streamed on YouTube and in pubs. This would apply for the cup games and for the Euro's. Just imagine Adrian winning the prem league on FIFA. That would make up for the error in the champs league loss lol.

dirty_rider, Yes. Hahahahah

I think they should start putting games down as draws until games resume. Sounds trivial, but I think it's the fairest way, if "FAIR" is any factor.

Without stoking the fire too much by asking, but any Eds have a view on how this might be resolved? Fair or otherwise.

if the league becomes void sky and BT will sue the back side off the FA and UEFA and possibly FIFA so they can pay the billions owed to sponsors so the league will continue when it is safe to do so. so Karen Brady can get read for relegation and the wrath of the Hammers fans who will I hope ask for her to sacked and kept out of football.

Tobliw, be more concerned with the health and well-being of your family and loved ones instead of trying to wind up rival fans. In a time of crisis simply be better, be the best version of yourself you can be, just really sad to see.

To take our mind of things. A couple of years ago Ed002 said something about the french youth training on this site. If I remember correctly it was about making young players more versatile and less rigid in formations, please do correct me if I'm wrong mister 002. It made me wonder how football is evolving, the game itself. How do you guys and girls see the game being played in ten years time? It would be interesting to get the eds superior knowledge on this one to.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - A good question. You are correct that for a number of years the French have been training youngsters at Clairefontaine and the other French academies to be more versatile and adaptable with a view to less rigid formations being used outside of the defence in the future - and that continues as we move forward. In the coming years you will see China emerging as a footballing nation. Currently the leading academy (Guangzhou Evergrande) has been formed in partnership with Real Madrid where in excess of 30 Spanish coaches are working with the kids to develop versatile skills and techniques. The Evergrande academy is different from those being set up by European sides in China as it is not looked at as providing a revenue stream for the club, but a long-term plan to bring success to Chinese footbal. In ten years you will see more versatility in players than there is right now. So perhaps a good thing.}

As always thank you for your insight in these parts of the game that us mere mortals hardly know anything about. Really interesting and something I look forward to seeing on the field.

Liverpool made very few changes last year but they are planning big moves this summer with Timo Werner and Kai Havertz the top targets while Ben White is also on the radar. Andy Lonergan, Ovie Ejaria, Nat Phillips, Pedro Chirvella, Nathaniel Clyne, Sheyi Ojo and Adam Lallana are certain to leave. The clubs finances have been handled immaculately over the last few years and it looks like that could continue, Michael Edwards believes they can generate decent revenue from the likes of Xherdan Shaqiri, Dejan Lovren, Divock Origi, Loris Karius, Marko Grujic, Harry Wilson and Taiwo Awoniyi. Liverpool know they need more top quality to compete in all competitions and with the AFCON on they know its essential to get cover for Mane/ Salah.

I'd have thought we should cash in on Salah if he's so keen on going elsewhere?

Sorry, not meant to be flippant or inflammatory, but I'd hope it's something that can be managed a bit better than, say, Coutinho's exit. I guess we did well out of that particular case financially but it wasn't pleasant at the time.
