Hi eds

Quick question

It's being reported Xabi Alonso will be moving on this summer, would he be a potential option for Liverpool this summer for maybe one season I think Emre Can could do with a player of his stature and experience within the squad as he could learn so much from him, I know he is 34 now but the guy is still world class and a true hero here as well would be great to see him back even if it was coming on off the bench imagine himself hendo and Lucas in midfield while Emre could learn so much from him especially on his defensive area where he still seems poor in that area in the current position he is played in, don't get me wrong I personally am a fan of Emre but I do think someone like alonso in the squad competing for the same place could only help Emre as he is very young and has huge potential for the future

Would really appreciate your opinions.

Believable0 Unbelievable5

{Ed002's Note - It makes zero sense at all - a backward step to presumably placate the large numbers of fans that live in the past. Disruptive to the team moving forward and any plans Klipperty Klopp has. Certainly adding him and his vast wages to the squad would displace the likes of Can rather than help him.

Makes zero sense.}

Ok thanks

Was just thinking out loudly is all not living in the past I do hope can can work hard on his defensive work as I previously said he has really good potential but is young so presuming he is willing to learn from his mistakes take them on board and work hard, that goes for the rest of the squad as well bar a few

Mingolet
Skittles
Loren
Moreno and Clyne to an extent

Who just are stuck in their ways or just not good enough for where we need to be

Thanks again for your input.

You know players have coaches to learn from right? And in terms of defensive work, Can has Lucas to learn from if he needed to be copying another player.

We should have brought him in this or even last season (if that been feasible) .

Makes less sense now that Lucas playing well and Can, Rossiter, Chirivella will have had another year under their belts and can be considered credible backup.

Hjikle I don't think there's any advantage from copying another player, when can is younger and can also be potentially in the long term a better player than lucas, Zimbo I totally agree with you it would have been great but like ED02 said it doesn't really make sense for a lot of reasons, let's just hope Klipperty and his coachin staff can work him hard on his defence as he has all the attributes of being a top class midfielder like rossiter, both ones to hold onto and ones to watch for the future

( I REALY HOPE WE CAN HOLD ONTO PLAYERS LIKE THESE AS WE NEED STABILITY IN MIDFIELD WHICH LOOKS LIKE ITS GETTING THERE NOW BUT WILL TAKE TIME ) HOPEFULLY DURING THE SUMMER WE CAN REARRANGE OUR DEFENCE AS IT SEEMS STILL OUR WEAKEST PART OF OUR GAMES EVEN THOUGH AND i HATE SAYING THIS BUT SKITTLES IS ACTUALLY PLAYING A LOT BETTER AS OF LATE.

Hello Ed002 if you are around,

Hope you're well. I know its been said repeatedly by you and the club that this January window will be quiet.

So even looking beyond that, I'm looking for players that Liverpool perhaps scout more extensively since Klopp's arrival and where interest is likely.

From the posts I gather Rui Patricio, El Ghazi, Subotic and perhaps a lingering interest in Sane. Is there any names I could perhaps add to that list?

Thanks a mill,

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Dortmund would be open to letting Subotic leave so I don't think that would compromise the promise made by Klipperty - and it would not be out of the question to see Liverpool look to him.

Patricio has been looked at before and has been looked at again (on more than one occasion this season) - it does't mean there is particular interest but they are keeping him in mind.

El Ghazi has been watched by Liverpool and a whole bunch of other clubs. Sane is similar to El Ghazi - a lot of clubs have been looking at him, including Liverpool.

Real Betis were aware of interest in Dani Ceballis from Juventus, Roma and, in particular, Real Madrid. Additionally Arsenal, Spurs, Swansea and Liverpool and others, have had the player watched throughout this year, but no EPL side made any approach to Real Betis about him. For now Ceballos has signed an extension, so he won't be moving imminently, but it would not be a surprise to see Real Madrid retrun for him in the summer.

Liverpool are one of the clubs who have enquired after Birmingham's Demarai Gray - albeit before Klipperty arrived.

Liverpool had scouts at a Porto match (against Maccabi Tel Aviv), I don't know who they were looking at as several Porto players are attracting attention (Martins Indi, Brahimi and Neves).

PSGs Lamine Ba has been of interest to Liverpool but he would be an unlikely addition to the first team squad.

I suspect a lot of what will happen going forward will be dependent on sales as well.}

Just as an additional complement to Ed002's response, I believe it wasn't that Klopp promised not to pursue *any* Dortmund players, but simply that he would not do so "behind the back" of the leadership team over there.

So long as as he approaches BvB respectfully and is up front, don't think any pursuit is an issue.

Thus, Subotic would be a potential target. I would say Gundogan too, as he only signed a 1 year extension in July, which takes him through to 2017. They are unlikely to re-sign Gundogan, so he is another player BvB are going to try to get some value for while he's still under contract. I predict Gundogan is most likely dealt in the summer, but possibly in January, if the offers are right for BvB.

Agree10 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - You are simply making stuff up. Firstly it is not Klopp who would make any approach to Dortmund for a player. It is not his job and it is specifically something he has never been involved in previously. Secondly, if Liverpool did make any direct approach to a player without the permission of their club that is tapping up. Perhaps Klopp is a liar and perhaps Liverpool will be tapping up players - and after the idiotic admissions of Gerrard there are people waiting for that to happen.

As I said, Dortmund are willing to sell Subotic so it is of no consequence.

You make the people running Liverpool look like cretins with this nonsense.}

15 Nov 2015 22:58:26
Seriously, what are you on about Ed002?

First, I'm not making anything up. I'm going by an explicit statement made by the Watzke to several media outlets about Klopp pursuing BvB players.

Direct quotes:

"Jurgen would never do anything which would harm the interests of BVB – I am 100 per cent sure of this

He would never get in touch with players behind our back"

Go google it. It's not hard to find.

That doesn't sound like some kind of blanket moratorium on Liverpool pursuing BvB players.

I was just making the point that if Gundogan, Subotic, or whoever else is actually available, there's no reason to think Liverpool would not be a part of the conversation.

Second, you're the only one making things up. I didn't say Klopp would personally approach any players. That's ridiculous. I know that it was Zorc who was involved with most player dealing BvB when Klopp was there.

You can read what you want into my posts. But that's not my problem. It's just your imagination.

Agree12 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - In which case you have made a whole lot up - perhaps reading what Klopp said in German and you would not look such a jerk. You seem to have no grasp about how transfers work at all. We have to suffer one idiot after another who somehow can't help but make stuff up.}

16 Nov 2015 06:09:22
It would be tapping up ed, but from what I read, many clubs get away with tapping up and escape consequences, implicating that tapping up is not a very well-policed activity. Liverpool for example blatantly tapped up the likes of Kroos and Willian, yet escaped any punishment.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - No problem then. Klopp is a liar and Liverpool regularly tap up players.}

16 Nov 2015 18:52:32
Hey fear, Cmon, u need to read between the lines. Dortmund is just saying if u wan our players just pay us a good price like Bayern did. period. wats wrong with sounding out a player if he like playing for klopp and liverpool and then paying him and his club a good sum. Everybody is happy.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Nov 2015 06:16:53
I'm not trying to say that at all Ed.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Many Liverpool fans are of the opinion that "tapping up" is acceptable because "other clubs do it" and because, super hero, Steven Gerrard has admitted that he did it on behalf of Liverpool. Furthermore, many fans believe Klopp to be a liar when he says he will not being conducting any transfer business in January; that he will not be spending money that the club does not have; and that he will not be returning to Dortmund for players.

As I have said previously, I have no doubt that the money will be made available for the right player at the right price.}

Hi Eds,

We all know from the major tournaments like the world cup and other competitions that Germany have a great solid way of defending that is what makes then very hard to beat, and they have a great midfield and a few good strikers, so with Klopp as our manager do you think there will be some top or very good german players wanting to join us because of our link with german players in the past and with Klopp as our manager, i'm sure he has a good name in germany and top players will come because of him, but when we had BR as our manager we got player who came for the money and not the manager, where as players will come because of Klopp, as they would have seen what he done in germany and what he has won, but with BR they will look at what he has achieved and then would not even consider coming to us, players now know we have Klopp and they will look at him and our clubs history and they will know they have a chance of winning things when they join us

so eds do you think we will get some very good players from germany, and if we do who do you know or think will want to come to us.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool are not in a position where they can rebuild the team yet again. Klopp has made it clear he will not return to Dortmund for players and that there is no money to spend in the short-term. Obviously I don't know what players you are specifically thinking of but the history of German players at Liverpool will be of no consequence. Klopp would be a draw, as would the money in the English game. As for the owners, I am not sure how much stomach they will have for making continued significant investments whilst the club is carrying a great deal of debt and their investment is being eroded. I can imagine a couple of players based in Germany that might be an option at some point.}

15 Nov 2015 15:05:30
Gundigon and who else you thinking mate?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I am certainly not thinking of Gundogan.}

Hi eds, have Liverpool shown any interest in Roberto Sapponara from Empoli? Thanks.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Empoli's Riccardo Saponara continues to be of interest to Juventus who have been told they will not listen to offers before the summer. Previous interest of Norwich and Everton has waned.}

Hello eds. Just wondering what you think might be in the future for Yarmolenko? I used the search and saw some chatter months back about him but I value your folks great input. Surely he is set for a big club soon but honestly what are our chances? I know you've explained our Financials but wondering if he is on our radar and whether we realistically have any shot. Big thanks for this rocky Mountain red.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool has shown no interest.

Dynamo Kyiv managed to persuade Yarmolenko not to move this past summer and managed to get him to sign a new contract. There has been interest over the past year from Roma, Spurs, Stoke, Fiorentina, Everton, Inter and Dortmund.

Bayer Leverkusen, Valencia, Napoli and Manchester City all dropped their interest and PSG, who were considering Yarmolenko as a possible option to replace Lavezzi this past summer, seem to have done the same - at least for now but there is a reasonable chance Lavezzi could move in January. Yarmolenko has expressed a desire to move to Barcelona or Chelsea - and there has been more than one approach made directly to the Chelsea to gauge their interest. Right now it looks like Barcelona are considering their options for a January bid, but much will depend for them on an entirely separate matter. Whilst an approach was made to the agent of Yarmolenko by Arsenal in the summer, nothing could be done.

He spent the summer screwing everyone around and there is still a lingering view he could do the same in January. I don't know if anything can be done or if Arsenal or Barcelona will push, but Piero Ausilio was at a recent game to look again at him - so Inter might still be in the mix.}
