According to Paul Joyce of the Express we are interested in signing Joel Matip on a free transfer next Summer. Plays predominately as a right sided centre back but he can also play at right back or holding midfielder.

From what very little I've seen, he seems good enough to replace skrtel, and he is only young for a centre back. Big and quite quick, good in the air, but I'm not sure he's a big step up, but like I said he may kick on. I'm still not convinced on lovren, yes he's playing better, but one big mistake and he could resort back to his former self, let's hope he brushes it off! For me, if we buy a centre half, he should be good enough to put lovren third choice, as cover, and build a relationship with sakho, and is matip that player, like I said, I haven't seen enough myself.

Ya I'd agree with you to be honest I think if we sign Matip he will a squad player. I'd say in the Summer we will sign a top centre back to partner Sakho. Ya lovren's has been okay then again I really have no confindence in him unfortunately same goes with the donkey skrtel.

what sort of fan call our player donkey. can't believe how often our players got assaulted by our own fans here.

Matip is a decent young player but IMO nowhere near good enough to be a regular ahead of Skrtel.

For me I think promote ward, use Marko and wisdom, buy the best cm on our list of targets and decide if we are going to use coutinho left or centre and if its going to be the left, much to everyone's disagreement I feel we need that bit of special player to unlock the doors i.e. ozil. my feeling is Gotze although if pep leaves I imagine he will be kept by the new manager.

Ward, wisdom, grujic (possibly), Marko and gotze. I would be happy with that for the summer.

Ward
Clyne skrtle sakho/lovren moreno
Henderson lucas
Lallana gotze coutinho
Benteke/firmino or sturridge.

Bogdan, flanno, grujic, can, Marko, origi, firmino

Maybe one or two sales and I would still like Kent to have a look in.

So far only Stones fits the bill.

Ed002, have Liverpool looked at Salvatore Sirigu at all? He is a top goalkeeper coming into the prime of his career and he's sitting on the bench because of PSG throwing money around like it's going out of fashion. Think he'd be an excellent buy and probably wouldn't cost that much due to being out of the side. There is no shame in losing your place to Kevin Trapp.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - No, but several sides are looking at Sirigu. Milan, Newcastle, Roma and Aston Villa have all declared an interest. Approaches to his agent from Lazio and Trabzonspor have been rejected.}

Cheers Ed. Hope we do take a look. I rate him in the top 10 keepers in the world based on his form of the last few years. He's only started one game all season for them and he played brilliant. It's just hard to get in a team ahead of Trapp whose probably only behind Neuer and Courtois as the best in the world.

I agree. I think Sirigu is an excellent 'keeper.

Newcastle? Their top two keepers are amazing, even their third is good value.

Hi ed1 if your about, looking ahead to the summer apart from potential departures of milner, allan, ballotelli, markovic maybe mignolet who else do you think will likely leave as it seems again that quite a few players will go? And can you see us going on another stupid mad splurge or hopefully bring through some youth players to perm fill the postitions and only fill the areas we really are clearly weak in?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - it is a bit far away to know yet mate. Though I would like to see Allan kept and Joe Allen might well be on the move in January.}

16 Dec 2015 12:07:01
Sorry yeah meant joe allen! Any idea were he might be iff to ed? Thanks for reply as always you guys do a great job keeping us fans informed!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - he was likely to be off back to Swansea but have to wait and see if the new manager will want him.}

16 Dec 2015 12:53:17
Ok cool shame its never really worked for him i guess he just isn't good enough for a team like lfc.

But if of any merits to the team. Milner should go first, J. Allen is much better than him.

16 Dec 2015 23:32:52
Milner is better than Allen in about 4 different positions on the pitch imo.

17 Dec 2015 14:37:34
Agree that Milner has more to his game than Allen, but he has yet to really step up. His passing, decision making and first touch has been consistently poor.

We all know he has the quality. He just needs to show it more.

Morning Eds and Reds. Ed01 have you heard anythin in relation to Huddersfield taking our players on loan?
i went to watch them last night against Rotherham and it was a decent game to watch but they look like they need acouple of additions in attacking positions!
Cheers

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all!

{Ed001's Note - nothing sorry.}

Cheers for your time Ed01 I'm obviously getting carried away with the German connection!

hey eds what dou you know about Trent Alexander-Arnold, is he rated highlighy within our system?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - highly rated enough, defenders usually mature slower so he is not expected to be a first team player in the next couple of seasons. I know there are a few clubs that want to take him on loan in the January window, Rangers in Scotland were one, Crewe were another interested. Not sure if anything will happen right now though, last I heard the academy was not keen to send out too many more on loan as Klopp wants to take more of a look at them all.}

16 Dec 2015 12:34:28
He is being played more and more as a central midfielder this season.

Eds is Studge expected back at weekend mate? Also was Lucas injured for WBA or just rested?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - both Studge and Sakho could possibly be back at the weekend, though I wouldn't hold my breath on either. Lucas is not injured that I am aware of.}
