Ed do you no if liverpool have ever been interested in marin from dortmund.MATTYLFC {Ed002's Note - See earlier answers.}

Probably not because he plays for werder bremen

16 Feb 2012 22:11:09
hey eds. do u think there is a chance of getting Jefferson gargantuan or Alan dzagoev (spelling) in the summer as they may be up for free. {Ed002's Note - See earlier answers and Dzagoev contract will run through the end of the Russian season, not the English one.}

Would he be able to sign a pre-contract in the summer then? Just from a purely knowledgable interest.

TSP {Ed002's Note - Yes he would.}

16 Feb 2012 20:19:53
Hi eds,
is Marko Marin a premier target for the summer? {Ed002's Note - Arsenal, AC Milan, Chelsea, Liverpool, Spurs, Napoli, Juventus and Roma have all shown an interest in Marko Marin in the past. Much will depend on whether or not Liverpool make the Champions League as to whether he is a viable option or not; and the summer is a considerable distance away at present. Perhaps Italy is the most likely destination, and I understand his preferred destination.}

Marin was a target for spurs and was close to signing! They did speak again in jan but spurs now see other players a potential targets rather than marin? You may laugh you may mock but the hazard rumours are not going away, also eriksson, a spurs fan, is affordable, but I'm sure he will go to spain? despite saying it would be a dream to play for the club!, I personally like marin and think he would do well at liverpool but as an outside observer I think you need a goal scorer

Hi ed just a quick one. Not lfc but the hulk (not the green one) is he moving on, who is interested and what kind of money would he cost someone. cheers mate {Ed002's Note - I don't know that he will be moving at all. He has a "release" clause that Porto would want met (100M euro) and I cannot see anyone doing that.}

Cheers ed. he is good enough to play for the best teams in the world. So basically if he is happy there no one can touch him.
{Ed002's Note - I suspect he will move at some point - but not for that money.}

His contract runs until 2016, as well. So, he might have to sit tight until then.

Espnstar report PSG come out and tempt Suarez in summer they are leading in France league and will be in CL football next year. with the Arabian Oil money they want to buy big name player. and Carlo is there who always like to give Liverpool £50m :) any idea Ed

R-R

I'd only take 40 million plus if we can actually spend it but theres no one of Suarez's quality who would be willing to come to Liverpool who aren't in Champions league [we might though]. Hopefully he stays and gets us shooting up the table!

BthekingB

So, the Uraguain captain (who happens to play for PSG) has come out and defended his fellow countryman. Now let me see, if I put 2 & 2 together.........I get 22!

16 Feb 2012 19:28:36
there have been alot of big names linked to liverpool or people saying they are being linked to liverpool but who do you think has the most chance of actually joining us?

None of the above. We wont get into champs league so shop in lesser circles. Hope we arent one of clubs paying epb funds to our foreign stars and owe the taxman. Enuff negative press as it is. Our american friends be getin fed up! Ynwa j4da96

None of the above players now.
We wont get into champs league or Europa.

Just a team with fantasic memories.
Its going to take a long time to get where we should be, but players are not in it for the long haul.
KK is right to get British players who will respect the LFC tradition.

Hello Ed002,
if Suarez wants to go, the club should let him go. If he really wants to stay, he should be given a chance! He is great but there are plenty of strikers in the world. The club will probably ear good money too. Maybe Cavani, maybe De Jong, maybe a swap deal with Madrid for Higuain. A FAST WINGER is needed. The rest of the squad looks good.

But if we are letting our best players leave why would any great players like you mentioned want to join ?

I think if there was to be a player to exchange for Suarez, then I'd only be happy with Higuain.

Both different players, but both good ones.

As for now, Luis Suarez YNWA

How can you talk about getting rid of him?? Hes one of the best players we have had in years,the liverpool way is sticking together not pulling apart!! The media have always had a go but all this rubbish of getting rid of one the the greatest talents around from are own supporters is hard to take!! Y.N.W.A

How do you expect to attract players to a club with someone like Suarez damaging our world wide reputation. Who is going to want to play with someone with such a massive lack of respect.

He want to go then he can go , £50m nothing less then that

Suarez is a player that will always be surrounded by controversy. Good player but he will be a target now for defenders referees and fans alike, he didn't think about Lfc when he decided not to shake evra's hand only himself. Do you really want to support a player who acts so selfishly? Like ballotelli you will always have to exept his poor behaviour and possibly suspension as Ajax said this week he makes some mad decisions?

Cavani won't come to Liverpool if Suarez has gone

Would like to believe the Lavezzi stories are true as he'd be a great buy at 15 million (if true).

If Lazio haven't yet signed Honda he too would also be a great buy for 14 million. So for me I would like us to bring in Lavezzi, Honda and two of the below.

Ibrahim Affelay (R/W Barca). 6-10 million.
Jan Vertonghen (C/D Ajax). 12-16 million.
Javi Martinez (C/M A. Bilbao). 20-25 million.
E. Banega (C/M Valencia). 17-22 million.
S. Defour (C/M Benfica). 8-14 million.
C. Eriksen (C/M Ajax). 15-25 million.

I know people will look at the prices of Honda and Lavezzi but I did say if the stories were. 14 million was agreed for Honda.

The other valuations are rough (as you probably guessed), but I'd say they are roughly close.
An out and out winger like Affelay is what were crying out for. Plus he's quick and skilful. True hes currently out injured but he will be due back in the spring, so has time to get some fitness before summer.
Jonesred

The problem with Affelay is he dives quite a bit and rolls about that kind of player. Bit of an ego, a good player though. There's a video of him faking an injury to Suarez, seems very unsportsman-like. Not sure if Kenny wants someone like that, seems more suited to italy/spain.

All foreign players do that though. It is usually taken out of their game once they reach England.

Not all clubs obviously.

Jonesred

Defour plays for porto not benfica

I do not believe we need an out and out winger. With the system we play are full backs do that job and having an out and out winger closes the space off for them. I don't understand the downing signing for that reason. The mata ( who we were looking at) or the silva player is what we need. And then a real goalscorer. After that I believe we would have a great squad. I would get rid Of downing and kuyt. Carrol is getting there and is something completely different up top and the more I watch Henderson the more a rate him. Just my opinion
Cheers
Liverpoolone

Do we need more center mids?

I find it funny how ed02 plays down ANY big named player coming to liverpool.I'm sure he/she is still butt hurt about us putting chelsea out of 3-4 competitions in the last 7 or so years.I'm sure if it was asked who would sign for chelsea 02 would reply a lot more positive even though they have almost zero attraction to there club.any neutral would rather play in a red shirt than blue.play for one of the most historic teams in european football history,or play for a team that's best known for sacking managers and signing lfc cast offs.hmmm {Ed002's Note - More bleating from a retromingent glifnard. I think you will find Liverpool have had more managers than Chelsea in the last two years and many more owners in the past 7 or 8. I personally don't give a damn about who knocks any one club out of a competition. However, your moaning about me saying the likes of Coentrao, Alexis Sanchez, Young, Neymar, Ganso, Falcao, Canales, Dzsudzsak, Gomez, Taiwo, Tevez, Alves, Cavani, Goetze, Hulk, Ilicic, Iturbe, Klose, Lucas Paizon, Lucas Moura, Martinez, Muller, Higuain, Hummels, Neymar, Pato, Sneijder, Wolfwinkel, Adebayor, Reus, Ribery, Aguero, Bastos, Costa, De Federico, Defour, Demba Ba, Eriksen, Falcao, Forlan, Hazard, Jose Angel Valdes, Lamela, Lavezzi, Lucas Ocampos, Malouda, Nasri, Navas, Ninis, Higuain, Nolito, Oezil, Menez, Modric, Pastore, Pjanic, Robben, Subotic, Vargas, Vidal, Banega, Barrios, Benzema, Boudebouz, Cazorla, Clichy, De Bruyne, Etoo, Godin, De Gea, Elia, Hernandez and Jovetic not joining Liverpool - was I correct or not?}

Boom...roasted.

And correct me if i'm wrong they never signed for Chelsea either! ;-) {Ed002's Note - I did not say they would.}

Well that's truly woken up one liverpool fan from his dreaming!!

I think ED002 does a great job considering the circumstances. It can't be easy with all the traffic that comes through this site. Personally, I appreciate that ED002 does not support Liverpool. His/Her input is always straight down the middle and defiantly less biased than tomorrow's chip paper tabloids

Ed02 All those names were just rumours on a rumour site ;)
kidmillions

Look up glifnard and see what comes up.....

GuvTOB

Glifnard is now my favorite word-

Holy sh*t what a list of players sounds like the City bench. lol

Well without doubt my historical favourite reply on this site
Bloke should be banned for walking into it tbh congats ed002

Let's be honest ed, he isn't saying you should say they are going to sign but when you say "there is 0% of them signing" or something to that degree that gets fans [not me, i don't agree with the poster] mad at you. Okay, those guys didn't sign but they could do! Although, I am pretty sure 80% of those are money grabbers and would prefer champions league + the overpaid cheques than history. Shame really ;)

BthekingB {Ed002's Note - So how many signed in the summer or winter window? None.}

Ed.2 Shut up no 1 likes u {Ed002's Note - I love it when you tease me.}

Look's like he touched a nerve there ED002! {Ed001's Note - or perhaps he was just an idiot in need of putting in his place?}

Who gives a rats ass about prima donna players, we need hard working players that play for the badge week in week out, the old liverpool teams were full of grafters.that played for the badge

gee man

What is a glifnard ?

Glifnard Someone who is a lame mother.....r. Often viewed as useless and retarded. Many times just looking at this person can cause one to do bodily harm

You said neymar twice btw :) {Ed001's Note - well I'm not telling her!}

Are you implying Liverpool are a more attractive club than Chelsea at the moment...? Really?

I'm sure people think that because we have history we're entitled to more in the present.

Haha glifnard. my new favourite word. the poster is a glifnard

De gea is crap ed002
Shanio1 {Ed002's Note - Tryt not to be an idiot and just read the post.}

You also said Suarez would not sign {Ed002's Note - I did indeed. And Marveaux before he changed his mind and went to Newcastle. But I still have to put up with people going on about it - I least I can ban them if they piss me off.}

Actually she mentioned a few twice but hey I've been on the wrong end of womens outbursts. you was howling wrong about marveaux though!!lol {Ed002's Note - Perhaps he was also influenced by seeing the comments on this site. He only turned down the contract at the last moment.}

16 Feb 2012 18:42:07
Ed can you confirm if Honda has actually moved to Lazio?

I don't think he did but would appreciate the confirmation. If it hasn't does that mean other clubs could still show an interest?

I was gutted we never stumped up the 14 million to bring him to Anfield in January. He would have provided that spark of creativity, and plays a number of positions which is exactly what we need.

Anyway if he hasn't then let's hope we finally show some interest in the summer.

Jonesred {Ed002's Note - He is still at CSKA but Liverpool clearly do not want the player after so many chances to buy him have been passed on.}

True I know where your coming from, hopefully a change of heart or another target falling through might bring us in.

Fits the clubs criteria young, sell on value and plays a number of positions.

14 million as well is a snip.

16 Feb 2012 18:40:16
Whoever eventually gets hold of Eriksen is lucky. The kid oozes class. Wouldn't be surprised if he ends up playing in the Nou Camp. We can always dream! Nick. {Ed002's Note - Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and AC Milan have shown an interest in Eriksen. He has already rejected both Manchester City and Chelsea but AC Milan remain the most interested club. Back in mid July someone from the Milan Press Office told me he had heard of interest from Manchester United and that may well be the case. The player has expressed an interest to move to Spain.}

Expert claims: Argentina star will 'sign for Liverpool' in the summer..

South America football expert Jose Alberti claims that Napoli Striker Ezequiel Lavezzi will be a Liverpool player next season.

In an interview with Radio CalcioMercato last week, Alberti - who is often mistaken to be Lavezzi's Agent - said:

"Ezequiel Lavezzi will definitely will leave Naples at the end of the season, but he will not go to Italy; He will move to England and sign for Liverpool".

That is quite an emphatic claim, but given Alberti's contacts in the football world, it's conceivable that he has some inside info on the issue. He also claimed that Manchester City failed with a recent bid to sign the striker:

"Two years ago Manchester City made an offer for him but it was not enough".

It's unclear whether Alberti meant the transfer fee or the salary figure wasn't enough, but based on his next comments, it's probable that the salary City offered wasn't enough for Lavezzi:

"When Lavezzi discovers that Cambiasso and other players earn much more of him, it is normal to want a change. He's doing very well for Napoli, but he is 27 years old and it is time for a change"

Liverpool's interest in Lavezzi is well documented. In 2009, Rafa Benitez tried to sign the Argentinean as a striker partner for Fernando Torres, and this was confirmed by Alejandro Mazzoni, Lavezzi's Agent, who told The Telegraph:

"I reiterate that a Fifa agent presented Napoli with an offer from Liverpool for Lavezzi. This was a formal procedure as the player cannot be contacted directly because he is under contract with Napoli"

This was taken from the net last night.

I would love this to be true as he's a great player. Exactly what we need, even at 27 I think he would be a player who could add something instantly.

Ed have you any info on this or should I not even bother getting excited about this?

Jonesred
{Ed002's Note - Done to death yesterday. There is interest in Levezzi from several clubs including Manchester City, Juventus, Zenit and PSG. I think it would take a very high bid to get Napoli to consider selling the player and I think the player himself is happy where he is right now. If Suarez leaves perhaps a chance for Liverpool.}

Cheers Ed, could you not see Lavezzi and Suarez in the same team?

It seems a strange claim to come out with and I was surprised at the fee quoted being 15 million. If we did for that price I'd be very happy.

I think we would be looking at more in the region of 20-25 million.
I don't know how well informed this guy is. Would you say he has some credibility?

Jonesred {Ed002's Note - I can't see Lavezzi and Suarez both playing for Napoli, no.}

No need you know what I meant. I could see them both in the same team to be honest.

We'd finally have more threat that would be certain. He is a class act.

Would you say the football expert who's claimed a deal is done was a credible source? Not sure if you know of him?

Well, i can see LFC selling Suarez to finance the purchase of Lavezzi. Same kind of player, less controversial. But i doubt such transaction will take plaace because the uruguayan ain't going nowhere.

BooDaBooze

16 Feb 2012 18:05:05
How u doing eds r wr still looking at de Jong is there anyone at the match tonight? {Ed002's Note - De Jong will remain an option.}

16 Feb 2012 17:36:04
Looking through the list of players that are out of contract at the end of the year, I was struck by a trio of names that (I believe at least) would improve our 1st XI...all young enough and with decent experience:

Salomon Kalou (26) would give us options up front
Tranquillo Barnetta (26) would give us wing options Mathieu Flamini (27) who was one of the best DM's around... (big knee injury aside!)

So Eds / fellow posters...my question to you is: Possible bargains at £8m each, or not worth the effort?

LeTrench {Ed002's Note - I think a free Jefferson Farfan would give much better wing options.}

ED is there any interest in Farfan? Cheers,

MansfieldRED {Ed002's Note - Assuming Farfan does move, I expect Italy with Inter, Juventus, Palermo or Roma most likely. However, interest from England will not be out of the question and several clubs (Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea to name but three) are looking for wide players. Schalke made it clear that they will sell in January for 7M euros, but a niggling injury kept buyers away. As such, he will be available for a free transfer this summer.}

Montolivo's is also up in the summer. Wouldn't mind him on a free.
Jonesred {Ed002's Note - Montolivo will leave Fiorentina in the summer and regardless of interest from Juventus, Liverpool and Roma will almost certainly move to one or other of the Milan clubs.}

All 3 players that are named are not good enough to play for LFC. Face it, we were better last year when Kenny took over before he bought any players apart from Suarez. Since then we have gone backwards.

We need a BIG clearout again. Downing can go for a start...

16 Feb 2012 17:30:32
Is Rene Adler available on a free? If so i think we should try and sign him. Great keeper IMO {Ed002's Note - Hamburg, Schalke and Spurs have enquired after Rene Adler who will be leaving Bayer Leverkusen in the summer. He has struggled with injury for the most part of the season. I expect he will join Hamburg.}

Oh and don't we have a keeper called pepe reina

16 Feb 2012 17:20:26
Eds, Isla had an ACL operation and may be out for 6 months which would make him available only in august at the earliest, Would u see us still being interested in him and buy him.

AJ {Ed002's Note - To me he would need to prove his fitness. So it is something which perhaps may be up in the air.}

I can share some knowledge as someone who had ACL reconstruction, meniscus repair and meniscus resected on 16th January. My MCL was also torn - the injury is called the "Unhappy Triad".

Mauricio Isla not only ruptured his ACL but also his LCL. They will probably reconstruct his ACL with 20% of his hamstring and there is no chance of him playing competitively again before nine months post-surgery.

Lucas won't even make pre-season for Liverpool and I was shocked to see the guy return to Liverpool on crutches six weeks after his surgery!

Back to Isla, this will almost certainly scupper any transfer before next winter.

Nads!

Hello I'm Isla I'll be round to your house later Ed002 to prove my fittest maybe Kenny will take me on then

16 Feb 2012 17:05:47
Hi Eds, is there any truth in the PSG interest in Suarez? Sorry if this question has been asked before.

Matty p {Ed002's Note - I suspect that they may show an interest in the summer with a number of other clubs.}

16 Feb 2012 16:34:54
Ed002, do you have that link to the players out of contract in the summer? I would like to check a couple of things. Thanks,

TSP {Ed002's Note - tinyurl.com/6smd33y}

Thanks Ed

TSP

16 Feb 2012 16:34:21
Eds is it true that palermo are interested in suarez...

KingMiz {Ed002's Note - Yes it is and they certainly have the money to fund a move.}

Where did they get the money from- cavani sale?
I don't see suarez being sold and anyway y wud he go to palermo? {Ed002's Note - Palermo have a consortium finalising an investment deal for the club that will see between 100M and 200M euros available for strengthening their side. Palermo also have very strong links with South American football - having a number of Uruguayan and Argentinian players in their current squad.}

16 Feb 2012 16:21:31
Hi Ed's - I know summer is a long way off, but I've been thinking, and I don't think a ST should be our main priority in the summer. If Suarez stays, I'm confident that he will score more goals, also I think Andy Carroll is improving for every game IMO - Of course we need a striker, but I think that a CAM and a RW should be top of the list. So my question is, do you think Liverpool will step up the chase for Gaston Ramirez in the summer? (If there was serious interest in him the past month) And I'm also curious about Dries Mertens of PSV, he's had a really good season for PSV, do you know any clubs interested in him? Thank you {Ed002's Note - There might well still be interest in Ramirez but I don't see Mertens moving to Liverpool - if he moves I suspect it may well be to Bayern Munich.}

16 Feb 2012 16:21:12
Hi ed hazard said he was drawn to england today so any chance at all he could come to lfc? {Ed002's Note - No, he won't be moving to Liverpool.}

16 Feb 2012 15:31:29
Ed what happened to us signing Kristoffer Nordfelt?
And With Jones and Doni going do you think he will sign or another goalkeeper, if so who would want to play back up to pepe?

Cheers thanks again

Dano {Ed002's Note - I have heard no more of him since the beginning of teh month - he was certainly expected to have joined by now.}

16 Feb 2012 14:52:13
Hey Ed's what's the chance of us landing Darren Bent i know we was linked to him in Jan but is it just pure Speculation. Think he'd be a good signing running the line and Suarez just behind or along side him And Lets face proven goal scorer. {Ed002's Note - I don't know of any interest in Bent, now or back in January.}

16 Feb 2012 13:32:45
This south american football expert "jose alberti" seems to be 100% sure that lavezzi will be a Liverpool player in the summer 2012, he said;
"Ezequiel Lavezzi will definitely leave napoliat the end of this season, but will not go to italy, he will move to England and sing for Liverpool"
Any truth in this story edds? If this story is true lavezzi will be great for Liverpool I think.

abbs
{Ed001's Note - I have not heard anything recently regarding him at all, so I really don't know.}

He might SING for liverpool but i cant see him SIGNING for us lol

James

He's a great player. I hope he does sing for Liverpool

Rather he played for us than sing.

But he has a horrible voice. this makes no sense. why would we pay him to sing?

So he will sing for Liverpool, we can always use another one singing "You'll never walk alone"..... so sing along

Pavarotti would be better to be fair.

I agree he's a better dancer than a singer lol he dances his way around defense, but you know what I meant lol
abbs

Not signing for man utd, they only sing when there winning

He wont sign for us. he just came out in the last few days saying he cannot see himself leaving napoli any time soon. Anything can happen tho. would be very happy to see him in a liverpool shirt!

16 Feb 2012 12:51:45
What's the chances of signing Dusan Tadic?

Who the hell is he ?
I've never heard of half the players on here. Lol.
The Real KB

Youtube?

16 Feb 2012 12:26:03
PSG linked with Suarez on sky news.
Hope not.
Lyndon

Telegraph is running the same story

Hate when the words "champions league need to be made before they can sort a deal" it's great to be in it. But it's far from the be all and end all but Players seem obsessed with. Suarez as a lot to do with it if we don't.
lyndon

Suarez is not moving anywhere. Stop believing this bull, it is utter nonsense, no sources or anything about this story, stop believing everything you read

Rocky

I think his departure was inevitable after Saturday.

16 Feb 2012 11:49:18
Agents of Suarez in talks with PSG over a possible move in the summer. This is from a newsarticle in a norwegian newspaper db.no

Oh, yeah, right. Well, the Norwegians would obviously be the first to know.

Just wondering why PSG would want to sign Luis Suarez's agents...

16 Feb 2012 10:32:59
Hi Ed's
Do you know if there is any interest in Leandro Damiao of Internacional, is someone like Luuk De Jong more likely if we dont get into the CL.

jim {Ed001's Note - we did look at Damiao a while back, but we withdrew our interest I believe. De Jong does seem the most likely, though it does depend on who else wants him.}

I think that damiao wants to link up with "his" best friend sandro at spurs, probably one of the reasons we pulled out? Certainly not for football reasons as the lads a top quality player! {Ed001's Note - I believe it was the price quoted.}

I thoght de jong was down to us and NUFC and that he wanted to go to the EPL. for little wages. im sure he would go to LFC CL or no CL. seems like a guy who would. that being said we must buy the guy first

De Jong has looked excellent this season

16 Feb 2012 00:45:59
Eds, do you think there would be any chance of us landing Hazard? {Ed001's Note - nope.}

I'm pretty sure u can't land a plane on a hazardous area.

16 Feb 2012 00:02:16
hey eds any interest in joao plata of TORONTO FC he is better then aguldelo who was said not to be good enough {Ed001's Note - never heard of him or any interest sorry.}

As good as plata is he is not good enough for LFC maybe blackburn, toroto is not that strong. eric hassli of whitecaps has a better chance at 21. fron NB in Canada here so get to watch a lot of MLS

15 Feb 2012 23:44:57
Hi Ed, any transfer rumours for the summer to cheer me up?! Will we be shopping in Harrods or Aldi? Cant believe we seem to be out of the Hazard race, although I expect a lot depends on Champions League qualification {Ed001's Note - it's February! We don't have any idea where we will finish and so what players we can attract, yet.}
