Man City it is, No shock for it to be 2 English sides drawn together!

Worst possible draw - and second leg away! At least we know what we’re up against though.

We'd better not perform as badly as we did last time out at the Etihad. The only positive is that we tend to do better against teams that don't park the bus.

This is where Coutinho's loss / lack of a replacement is going to bite.
Why oh why have we left ourselves short?

Didn't we beat City without Coutinho?

I love being the under dog. This is not the draw i wanted before. However, this reaction is perfect! Everyone is writing us off. The Chsmpions league was made for under dogs and we have no pressure. People expect us to lose. They have huge pressure because they're expected to win, and their fans and older players want this more than anything else.

I can't wait. I hope we shatter their dreams. 8 European trophies. How many do City have? Even since they had all that money, We've still had more success in Europe with that runners up medal in 2016!

Anybody remember Klopp's first season when we drew the Europa League favourites, Dortmund and then lost the first leg? We still had the heart to pull through.

I AM BUZZING!

We were doing alright at the Etihad until the red card.
At least they will be entertaining games with plenty of goals. 6-5 Liverpool on aggregate! :)

We lost to heavily to city because we went down to 10 men, until then, we had a number of opportunities to score and we more than matched them!

Its going to be entertaining for sure. What a draw, simply amazing. All the other draws are just meh.

Looking forward to the game.

I can assure you that the City dressing room did not want this draw either. There is an added pressure when you face teams from your own country, especially when you are theoretically the favourite. If you face Barcelona or Bayern and lose, you give it your best shot and the world say's you are not quite there. This is a pressure game for many other reasons. Also, Pep knows that Klopp does have the ability to fashion a side to beat one of his.

We are strong in Europe. We are very strong at home. We weren't as bad as the result suggested at the Etihad.

So be firm in your support, we have every right to win this tie.

Peace.

I don't get why everyone is upset about the draw, this is an elite competition and at this stage all teams are elite. If we truly belong in the Champions League let's face anyone with no fear. If we can't beat City then imaginae how we would have done against Barcelona.

I’m not upset because we can’t win - I believe it’ll be really close. it’s just that we will be playing a very very tough team, but without the joy that comes with playing a Bayern, Juve, Real or Barcelona in Europe.

Hopefully we get through and get that pleasure next round!

I think being away second leg could really play into our favor. City have an awful record at Anfield, and if we get the result, then there will be even more pressure for City to attack in the return leg. Plays right into Klopp’s style to hit on counter.

I love Klopps response - it’s a dream draw, for all Manchester United fans.

It’s Champions League

It’s Liverpool

THEY should be worried about us.

I personally would have rather faced another team, We haven't played a top European team in a while. So it would have been nice to see how we stack up against the likes of Juve or Barca, that said we have played city before and know what to expect. Likewise they know what to expect from us.

Additionally would have been nice if the possibility remained that maybe we could face city in the final and have 2 English teams then. Anyway, come on redmen :) YNWA.

I believe we are the favourites against city! I just can't understand the fuss. there are no teams remaining g dat park the buss. y worry. just give our best and who knows dat . it b enuf for d cup!

Every game that Liverpool have left is a cup final now.
You can't look at any game in isolation and to have had that extra dimension would have been a huge benefit.
But it is what it is.

I think they're only loss in the league to us may play on their mind a little. I'd rather have faced City than any of the other teams at this stage, simply because we know how they play.

The juicer, as people have alluded to we beat them without coutinho and we play better free flowing football without him. You could argue we would have had a better chance if Gerrard was playing in midfield and if carra was next to VVD but football moves on.

I'd love to see us go for veratti and ndidi in the window our midfield would be so much better! Especially with the arrival of keita in the summer. Imagine we did buy werner too we'd be an absolute force!

Believable3 Unbelievable8

Nice dream but if the spanish giants couldn't prise Veratti loose then i don't expect Klopp to either. Werner won't be coming to us as a plan B option which means we either get rid of Firmino or we look elsewhere. Ndidi would certainly strengthen us but will klopp change his philosophy?

I think PSG again failing with CL would mean all realistic clubs who can give equal/ more money to PSG players will have a chance at vooing their players. I assume no top player realistically wants to play in the french league if not for money. So if the madrids, barca, bayerns and manchesters come, it will be hard for PSG to keep their players.
Hell PSG won't be holding on to Neymar for more than a year. so Veratti, Rabiot, Le ceslo and Draxler may well look to move this summer or definitely the next.
However Liverpool is not in the picture. Cannot see any of their top top player leaving a city like paris to move to Merseyside. Moreover i don't see us matching the wages on offer.
As for Ndidi, love the player but foxes will make us sweat out every penny we have for him. I think they won't be selling under 50 million and i'd rather see that money invested in bringing a top keeper and best CB available. i don't want to miss on say someone like Alisson because he was 25 million over our budget.
Dont particularly think midfield is a priority with ox, hendo, keita, gini, grujic and ejaria on the books. That is excluding milner and lallana who i believe will be sold and of course Can who is off. Personally i'd like us to convince Can to stay with us and give milner another season ( he is too good as a utility player, covers multiple positions, sobs about it but does the job)
we 100% need a keeper and center back. Can not overlook those two positions again this summer. we fans should be shouting for it. We cannot go into the next season with same defensive fragility.

I don't tnk Werner is a plan b option. its for Bobby to drop to midfield I tnk which will make him more involved in the match than he is now!

Agree0 Disagree15

Come off it Livebird, he's involved in almost everything where he is, he doesn't need to be moved about, why change his position when he's playing like he is? I seriously wouldn't understand it if he got moved, why change something that is working as well as it is. He's not only doing an amazing job himself but he's helping Salah and Mane as well, don't get me wrong they all help each other but everything is around Firmino, he doesn't need to be messed about with changing his position, we need cover sure but nobody's before Firmino for me.

16 Mar 2018 13:55:33
Firmino is the most important player for Liverpool. Moving him to attacking mid would be like putting VVD at defensive mid. sure, it might work, but why in God's name would you?

Agree4 Disagree0

16 Mar 2018 15:35:22
Not everything is around Firmino. Salah is out best player. Salah got marked out of the game last week and we created zero chances.

Salah is the main man. If he plays badly then normally we don't win. Firmino is doing well but not quite at Salah's level. Even when Firmino doesn't play Salah still gets goals and assits, but if Bobby plays without Salah he looks a bit lost and there is no end product.

Agree3 Disagree11

16 Mar 2018 21:21:29
And exactly how many games has Firmino played when Salah wasn't in the side?
Sorry dude, that's utter rubbish.
