Hi Ed's
You know what type of players Liverpool want to sign in Summer?
Any names?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - CB, CM/LM, AM and the will likely go for a S as well. Much will depend who leaves, particularly from the front three. I don't think there are new names at all from what has been explained before but Diego Carlos and Ben White remain the main CB options, but others have been looked at. Todd Cantwell (LM) is of interest but a decision needs to be taken over Grujic. Kai Havertz (AM) has been of interest but there is interest from elsewhere and he is very expensive. Philippe Coutinho (AM/LW) will likely be discussed. Milot Rashica (LW/RW) has been watched but no more at this time.}

Could the striker be the various discussed Timo Werner, or do we have someone else in mind? there's been a lot of noise about him of lately.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool have tapped up Werner as far as his club is concerned with perfornces now dropping off. There was a discussion with another interested side and his clubthis week in London and that was the message that came through. Other sides are interested but I am not aware of any options as Brewster will also return.)

No Timo?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I am sick of answering that Liverpoolhasnot spoken with his club and have no agreement at all.}

16 Mar 2020 17:42:50
Thank you so much
What about Buendia, Lewis, Werner, Sancho and Saka?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I forgot them. And Mbappe.}

16 Mar 2020 20:19:48
I mean did you know about interested in this players from LFC or something
Also Zakaria and Thomas
Or is just bull?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - As I have explained over and over, there is interest in Werner. I don’t know who Jones is and if Liverpool want Zakaria it would be as a replacement for Fabinho - and there is a 60M euro asking price. Maybe you should read through the posts and use the search function. I have explained about other players who have been looked at.}

Thanks for reply and sorry for stupid questions.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - No stupid, no problem.}

Carlos, Cantwell, Havertz, Rashica and Werner
Possibility or too many?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I cannot possibly say f all are possible.}

17 Mar 2020 06:13:34
Where are we going to get 300m euros to spend on them all, Matteo?

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Mar 2020 09:48:24
It"s around 150-200 if we sell players like Lovren, Shaq etc.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - how on earth do you figure that out? You do realise that we don't get the full amount of a transfer fee? Even if we did, I doubt we would get much for two injury prone players.}

17 Mar 2020 10:01:25
Belevie, money it's the smaller problem, we have a fantastic net spend and it's going to be a big summer, don't forget money from Grujic, Wilson etc.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - if you say so. I am sure FSG will just be happy to continue to run up debts, rather than looking to have them repaid at some point.}

17 Mar 2020 11:28:25
If we have tapped him up Ed002 I guess we could be forced to pay way over the asking price again then for a player. Wish we did things the right way. Just hope he doesn’t go on strike.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - What asking price are you referring to? At the moment his club are unhappy with the player - very unhappy.}

Hi Ed002. It has been reported today that Dejan Lovren has a few suitors this summer. A price of £18m has been suggested but I don't know where they've plucked that from. Lazio, AC Milan, Lyon are all mentioned and, somewhat surprisingly, Tottenham and Arsenal.

Also today, his potential replacement, Diego Carlos is in the news. Rumours that we approached his representatives in January but these were rebuffed due to him not wanting to move mid-season. Do you have any information on whether Carlos is open to the move to us or potentially waiting for Real Madrid?

With Lovren being behind Matip and Gomez and his replacement eyed as a starter, I do wonder what Matip will think of this. With the emergence of Gomez in the second half of this season I started to question whether a younger, perhaps home-grown option would be better to replace Lovren. Klopp does seem to be a bit harsher on Gomez's performances than others. Tends to speak of improvements needed in his game and so I can see Carlos coming in if Klopp wants and of course the player himself.

{Ed002's Note - Milan were interested last year but that interest has likely gone with them having identified several options for this summer - and they have serious money issues that mean they have to balance the books. Lovren spent a year or two at Lyon but their priority is RM, CM, S and possibly RW. Possible but I am not so sure they have shown any interest. Lazio is a better option as a Plan B to first choice replacement for Luiz Felipe who is expected to leave in the summer. I am not aware of any approaches by Arsenal or Spurs.

We have dealt with this before: Diego Carlos (CB) Manchester City have dropped their interest and are looking at others. Real Madrid has a sustained interest and Liverpool has declared an interest in taking DC in the summer as the player wants to see the season out. If this happens, I would think it would be the big move for the club this summer and would leave Gomez picking up pieces across the defence. The player would want assurances about game time as he would be a starter.

Matip will know that he is not going to be first choice going forward - in the same way that this could see Nathaniel Phillips thinking about future options.}

Hi Ed002, with everything being so up-in-the-air at the moment due to the SARS CoV 2 virus, do you think there will be a knock on effect to the summer transfer window?

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It is a good question and depends on when the decision comes to draw the line across or when the games are played. The issue of contracts running out June 30 will likely see UEFA agree to month on month extensions or even game by game. If it could be completed by say August 30 then you could see the window reduced to one month potentially.}

16 Mar 2020 12:30:37
I must admit I often overlook Phillips due to his lack of game time, I imagine he would look to leave after gaining a lot of first team football this season. He signed a new contract last summer. I imagine that was to protect his value or hope that he does well on loan. Perhaps if he leaves, Lovren leaves and Matip considers then the defence will need a couple of new faces? Or Hoever and van den Berg will need to rapidly step up. Interested to see what happens. Many thanks.

Potentially in turn Ed we could we see the end to this football season running on until say July or August?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - At won't restart in a couple of weeks. At some point a decision needs to be made - and probably by the start of May the decision will be an informed one and the EPL can continue an intrude in to the summer a little, or it will then need to have the line drawn across and preparations made for next season.}

16 Mar 2020 15:02:57
Thanks, Ed002.you've already answered the next question I had about contracts. With the infection pattern across Europe, I'd be surprised if they manage to finish domestic leagues without serious compromises by all national leagues.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It needs a rule change by FIFA - just for say 12 months.}

Thanks Ed, appreciate you are mainly giving us what you no on the same subject. I hope this season does get concluded, even if it is May and behind closed doors.
