Ed what are the chances of signing Hulk this summer? Reckon we could snatch him with the big bois' eyes on other players and Liverpool being deemed a step up from Porto. {Ed001's Note - pretty much zero.}

You have more chance of lou ferringo

Lots of BIG BOYS are watching Hulk. chelsea were willing up to 85 mil for him. not the 100 on his clause

As much hulk is a hefty built player, one his first touch is either clumbsy or to heavy, second, did u watch him play against Manchester city awful, which still wouldnt put liverpool but the price tag is 84million

First touch isnt everything, look at Drogba in his prime. Not trying to shoot you down by the way just a thought.

Not gonna happen anyway...

PDUK

Hardly a step up from Porto as they are in Europa League and Liverpoo are not?!

J-RED

Why, just looks overrated, Portuguese league is hardly a massive proving ground for english football.

hey ed r we keeping tabs on iker muniain? he wud fill the right wing position perfectly, plus a potential world class player.
Indian Buzzer {Ed001's Note - we were offered him in the run up to January but they wanted too much for him.}

Him or marin would be great, where is munian from? {Ed001's Note - Bilbao.}

17 Feb 2012 17:55:30
hey eds,
were we ever interested in van der vaart before spurs signed him?
JoshLfc {Ed001's Note - no because they were looking for a lot more money up until the last minute.}

Will we be in for isla and ola john in the summer?

Isla probably not. Now he's gonna be out for a few months with injury

Square tomato

17 Feb 2012 13:30:20
Ed001 is the injury to Isla likely to put off our interest in him as I thought he was very good candidate to replace johnson. He is not only versatile but also quite good in all the positions that he plays. {Ed001's Note - almost certain to put off interest in him.}

bbc sport says palermo might be in for suarez. do they even have enough money? {Ed002's Note - They have lots of money.}

Mate, its on the BBC football gossip page....its the Metro that are talking about this not the BBC.

Its not hard to figure out....Gossip Page is a roundup of Gossip from OTHER sources. NOT the BBC

PDUK

Palermo have found a Arab Consortium headed by wealthy businessman Ahmed Al Zubeidi.

to all eds

in the papers today it is saying Theo Walcott could leave arsenal could Liverpool get him to come to anfield next season as he is young {Ed002's Note - I guess it is possible but it seems unlikely to me.}

Why would we want him ? Hopefully in the summer we will be gettin rid of over rated dead wood not adding to it

Why sign another rubbish winger when we already have one at the club?
Indian Buzzer

Walcott worse than downing. Buy coleman from bitters. They be taken over soon moyes was watching ajax forward ericksen they shopping at harrods soon. I know u be laughin n doubting but its from a gud source. Moyes n round were at the game

Shall we just buy him because hes young, sounds great lets buy young players dont matter if they're not performing for there clubs

I don't know why we would look to sign an arsenal reject when we are looking to overtake them. We need a pacey winger but it seems to me walcott does not fit the bill. Hence Oxlade-Chamberlain taking walcott's place in recent starting line-ups

Walcott is a waste, did you see him in the AC Milan game... Useless!.

As a United fan I hope so as Wallcott is a load of carp. About your level though I would have thought

So...Suarez out, Walcott in?

Hear Malaga are intrested in suarez i hope he stays put

17 Feb 2012 13:32:58
Eds do you think we may sign Jackson Martinez as we were linked with him recently and his contract will expire soon? Also do you see us making a move for moussaka sissoko in the summer thanks {Ed002's Note - Martinez probably not. Sissoko perhaps, but Liverpool have been slow on the uptake.}

17 Feb 2012 13:19:26
Ed just wondering to your knowledge who are the clubs interested in Suarez ?

Cheers
Aussie red {Ed002's Note - Palermo are certainly interested. PSG and others will likely become inteerested nearer the summer.}

I just hope IF he is to leave that Liverpool insert a clause so that he cannot return to another English club for 5 years. {Ed002's Note - Such a clause would significantly reduce his value in a sale. It would be unenforceable and is never going to happen.}

Ok what is this stupid idea of insisting that we will or might sell Suarez? Probably the stupidest move ever made by a club. It will show like we take orders from Red Nose! What did he do wrong I still don't understand. Real fans would have gone up against Ian Ayre for not supporting his player and instead has gone with the media...shows how pitiful we became last few years. Bring back Benitez...and give him full control! We need some balls back

Nobody has suggested Suarez is for sale!? People are just making comments about clubs interested if he were to become available, which he wont. Chill out!

17 Feb 2012 13:06:17
Just out of interest ed,

What kind of value do you think Suarez has in the transfer market? Considering he has damaged the reputation of every european club he has played for, has had a poor shots to goals ratio this season.

I was speaking to a journalist friend who has connections at a couple of italian clubs and he said that Palermo feel that 25m is a fair market value for him and thats the kind of offer they would make, if any.

Nevada {Ed002's Note - It sounds about right.}

Nonsense.how would you replace him for 25m, especially with our transfer record? kevin davies perhaps?

£ 25M lol. Anyone who wants to buy Suarez have to pay atleast £ 50M!

We paid 23m for him mate. Doubt we aren't going to try make a huge profit. 35m at the least I would say.

BthekingB

25 mil my apse

He is our best player i would never sell him for any ammount 25 million is laughable

25m ed 02 what have you been smoking? Yet again showing your lack of knowledge. Suarez would cost at least 40m despite his reputation. As John Barnes rightly said the Evra issue would not matter in other countries, thus they would pay his true value, taking into account only his footballing abilities. And if you genuinely think that Suarez would join Palermo then you should change your medicine dosage, because this one ain't working out for you.

So surez 25mill seems about righ eh edd? in that case torres back to a madrid for 10mill?
yes i dont think so.
frankyscouse {Ed002's Note - It is strange that you cannot look at anything objectively and persist with comparisons. Is this something that started in the showers at school.}

So how is it that you all seem to think that between us buying him and now his price has doubled?

Don't get me wrong, i would love him to stay as he is a great player, but if he were to go i would expect his price to be roughly the same as we paid for him.

On the £25m valuation - that might be an opening bid if there was only on interested party and his goal scoring record doesn't improve.

If he scores and makes 6-8 goals and assists a reasonable few, I think £33 is closer to a sale price as he will have 4 1/2 years left on the exisiting contract...

Would like £50, or even £40 but it won't happen because of the perceived risk.

Suffolkn'Red

More like £250m, amirite or amirite? {Ed001's Note - for a lad who has had two big bans in the last couple of seasons, meaning he has missed significant chunks at crucial times?}

I love how everyone is disagreeing because Saurez is worth more than 25m.

He's magic, but let's be fair, he's missed 1/4 of this season and the more for the season before, he's deemed a racist (of course he is not, but the rest of the world doesn't want to listen to details, just the verdic) and does he want to play in a league where every match every oppositions fan boo's and sings at him reminding him of Evra's b/s?

Then there's the owners influence, who are based in a country where equality in race is on the rise who wouldn't want to risk sponsors, PR, and marketing value on one player.

I hope we'd get 40m, even 30 I'd feel was good business, but I wouldn't be surprised with a sell at 25m.

Don't get me wrong though, I really, really hope he stays, that we get behind him at every game and make him feel like he'll never walk alone, but we've sold our stars before, and will again.
DAn

How Suarez value has increased. He has a long contract and he is not officially for sale. Suarez was voted the best player in the Copa America 2011. He has playhouse in the PL and creates numerous scoring opportunities. His age is optimal. Several wealthy clubs (Real Madrid, PSG, ...) are interested in him.

If the owners want him shipped out, or Suarez asks to leave, then he will be sold for whatever another club offers. It is as simple as that. If it's 25m, then that's it.

If there's a bidding war, then obviously we may get more.

If Suarez is to be sold in summer, it will be for anywhere between 30 and 40M. There is no way he'd be sold for 25M and that can be taken to the bank.

BooDaBooze

He have made 13goals and 11 assist in 36 games, Not bad for a first season. It will get even better next season. I dont think that suarez want away and LFC wanr get rid of him either because his brilliant potentiel. And it Looks too me like LFC is building the team up arround too keep him, with buying coates and looking for more uraqien players... like abel hernandez, David Taxiere....and so on... I see him staying for at least 1 season more...! and at the same time i dont see him stick up the teammates and fans after all the support. with a 50+ LFC would maybe consider... but not less... that would be stupid, if you look at the prices for attackers now a days

Pretty simple if we learned anything from Torres replacement cost+ 15m

Nice analogy edd2 but will throw one back at you , following the sheep, even you edd with your knowledge should know liverpool will never accept 25 mill, at the end of the day the market dictates and if a quality footballer becomes available (which i do not think he will) and quality footballers always attract clubs willing to pay high transfer fees especially clubs you have mentioned ,malaga/psg etc etc just getting a hot shower not a cold one.
frankyscouse {Ed002's Note - I have no idea what you are talking about. Sorry.}

Lol check out the Pool fans getting defensive/protective

£25m sounds bang on IMO. lets remember he is not THAT young, hasnt scored many goals in the Prem and we are only talking about him leaving due to his disciplinary problems

so to you guys quoting £40 - £50 mil your living in dream land

Gav

Surez out £25m, Darren bent in £25m...imagine a combo of Carroll and Bent up front!

hey eds any possiblity of hazard joning spurs considering the fact that they were short of means to meet mata's wage demands ........RED INDIAN {Ed002's Note - His favourite today is Arsenal.}

Don't Spurs have a strict 'wage cap', Hazard would be too expensive, he is a greedy one!.

Hazard's favourite seems to change like a political opinion poll.

eds just wondering when did palermo come into the money to be able to fund a move for suarez? {Ed002's Note - Palermo do not have money problems and certainly the sale of Pastore in the summer helped. Add to that the 100M-200M euros investors are looking to put in to the squad and they can do pretty much whatever they wish. Palermo has always had strong links with South America and already has several Argentinean and Uruguayan players at the club.}

Sounds very unlikely. Only 3 Italian teams will qualify for Champs League,and it is not likely to include Palermo. Can't see Suarez wanting that sort of move.

17 Feb 2012 09:58:01
Palermo will make a 45 million pound bid for suarez in the summer and make him one of italian footballs highest earners. The owner said they will pay more if that is rejected.

Also inter milian want Agger and kuyt is wanted by four italian clubs one of which is napoli.

have mates in italy and they are normally on the ball with signings. {Ed002's Note - Palermo are certainly interested but not at anything close to £45M.}

No Italian team will get Suarez. £50m can be paid by Real, Malaga, Psg, and Anzi. {Ed002's Note - Nobody is going to pay £50M for Suarez but Palermo are looking like a very viable option for him.}

Ed002 you say not anything close to £45m,just wondered how much (roughly/or what u may have heard) they would be willing to pay?
cheers ed
Bulford-widnes ozy {Ed002's Note - I have no idea what they will wish to spend but it will not be anything of that order.}

We will most likely sell for peanuts then pay over the top for a replacement! Like the norm. I hope we keep Suarez for the length of his contract.

Suarez will stay. but if he doesnt it will be for the club. not for the money. he plays with heart and at times stupidity but i want him here.

45M? FSG would probably see that as good business and bite their hands off, but i don't see Suarez going to Palermo.
Suarez will not be sold, in any case.

BooDaBooze

It may well be true, but it made me chuckle to think of the owner saying that he'd bid 45 mill but will go higher if that's rejected, real poker player this bloke!

I'm told that Palermo consider 25m to be fair market value for Suarez.

He would be worth more if he hadn't...

Taken Groningen to court to force his move to Ajax.
Bitten a fellow professional in the Dutch and damaged the reputation of Ajax
Been involved in a very public and global race row damaging both his and the clubs reputation.

Thats what I have been told although it was an italian journalist that told me but he is fairly well connected at a couple of italian clubs.

Nevada

Nevada, stop giving it 'all that'. If, as you state, you have friends in other countries, as many of us do, then you will know full well that the reputation of Liverpool Football Club has not been damaged one little bit by Suarez or anything else. The only thing that has been damaged in all of this is the reputation of England as a fair or sensible place. The entire spanish speaking world is laughing it's socks off at us for our over-sensitivity and frankly our ignorance of foreign cultures and language, especially given our colonial past and the slave trade. I advise you to google the Chicharito interview whilst at Chivas regarding Omar Esparza before slating Luis any further. {Ed002's Note - Rather naive if you think Liverpool's reputation is not damaged.}

We've got to make atleast £5m on what we paid in January 2011 to Ajax if we are not going to get the £45m + we could have got 6 months ago.

Suarez has never been worth more than £30m

I am from Blackpool and have watched them a bit this season, they are playing some fantastic football and in particular the young lad Matty Phillips is a real talent.....any chance of us signing him in the summer? Hes a winger by trade, quick, skillfull and full of tricks and he can strike the ball too....exactly what we need.....do we know of any intrest? {Ed002's Note - I understand from Ed001 that Liverpool have indeed been looking at Matty Phillips of Blackpool.}

I'm sure LFC will look and ponder, ponder, ponder then some one else will sign him & LFC will ponder again.

What is wrong at this fanastic Club now adays

17 Feb 2012 09:23:15
What about Hoillett joining on a free in the summer? Jez.

{Ed002's Note - I don't know of any interest from Liverpool in Hoilett at this time. Bolton, Spurs, Newcastle, Stoke and possibly Aston Villa and QPR have been interested - plus a couple of clubs from Germany, including Bayern Munich. I understand that Roma may press to have Hoilett sign a pre-contract agreement with them before Easter - which may spark further interest from Germany. The English sides are very much at a disadvantage in the chase for Hoilett now as he is in to the last six months of his contract and he can talk to interested parties from outside of England.}

A lot of reports claim Wenger is prepared to sell Walcott. I know many of you think he doesn't have anything to offer, but surely he is a lot better than the options we have at the moment. Eds I want to know whether he will add any quality to the squad. Thanks {Ed002's Note - Personally I would say no he would not - I think there will be better options available in the summer.}

I wouldn't touch Walcott with a barge pole. Very fast with the ball but there is rarely an end product off him. He was supposed to be Tierry Henry Mk2 but he has done nothing since joining Arsenal.
