Hi Eds,

Have Liverpool ever shown any interest in Norwich City LB, Jamal Lewis? As I think he would make an excellent player, to push and back up Andy Robertson.

Also, what are your thoughts on the player?

Thanks

Marc.

{Ed002's Note - No, he looks to be heading elsewhere in the ummer - and Liverpool have two good young options at LB.}

Will he be staying in the PL Ed?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Yes, that is the plan. But Liverpool has no interest in him.}

i really think we should be giving Williams, Lewis and Larouci the chance to push to become back ups for the full back positions.

spending 30m on someone who won't be first choice is a bit mad! ed do you think we will see more of the above once we win the league?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Larouci seemed to have got ahead of Lewis and is well thought of as a player. There has been some eyebrows raised over his deciding to reject France as an International side which may see him depart for the AFCON. The club have some good young players and need to have some sort of plan for them - and the club know that and I expect them to act on it - else they will have the same fate as others from the leading sides who have walked.}

thanks ed!

from my limited watching of them, larouci has more skill and flair but lewis offers a better cross and defence.

is he seen as near to being called up to the international side, or is that more of the long term view.

completely agree on the youth front which is why i am not keen on us looking at cantwell, lallana leaving should be an opportunity for the likes of jones etc to step up.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I know little of the Algerian international side. Jones plays a different position to Lallana - hence LFC looking at a prior option to replace him in the correct position.}

Admittedly I've only seen Lewis in one game against Shrewsbury, but I think he's a better player currently than Larouci, and I think he's got more potential than Larouci too, who seems overly reliant on his physical attributes. It's just my opinion though, I'm sure Klopp and Ljinders are better equipped at judging these players than I ever will be.

How should the club act on it Ed? I refer to the situation with the young players. Better loan system? Clearer route to first team?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - They need to have a plan for each player - there will not be loans for the Under 18s. What gets players who are close to the first team is young players arriving who are going to be ahead of them.}

I think we've seen that klopp has intentions to challenge these youngsters to break into first team squad roles and it's healthy to have the likes of 2 different type of LB competing for that spot while Williams has the chance to claim RB squad role. We've seen the likes of clyne, Moreno, sturridge deemed surplus and klopp instead giving youngsters the game time in their positions. Hopefully Hoever, VDB, Jones, Elliot, Brewster can also continue to play and develop and we get to see a few success stories like Trent as klopp genuinely seems to have an interest in improving these guys who are yet aged only from 16-19yrs and have time on their hands. It's the likes of Woodburn, Wilson, Kane, ejaria etc I see no plan to integrate in future squad.

Hi Ed 02, any legs to the Todd Cantwell rumours. Young, English so would certainly help with homegrown quota. Looks like plenty of room for development too. Cheers.

{Ed002's Note - Todd Cantwell (LM) a Lallana replacement who shares and "agent" with Sancho - and he says Spurs, Liverpool and Manchester United have enquired about Cantwell. So it seems so.}

Thanks for the swift reply, would be a good addition to any of the above clubs imo. Have a great day.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome Simon.}

Hi Ed002,

Is this a signing with the homegrown quota in mind, because i feel Cantwell plays in the same sort of positions Minamino and Ox would occupy who already don't get games. I feel like is interest i don't see why as we don't need him as we already have enough in that position. I don't get this one.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Typically Minamino plays on the right and more attacking positions. Oxlade-Chamberlain is perhaps closer but seems to have re-invented himself as a central midfield player. Cantwell is a straight replacement for Adam Lallana Alex. He would be maintaining the Home Grown quota, but it is indeed something Liverpool need to keep an eye on.}

why buy Cantwell when we have Curtis Jones? should he not be Lallana's replacement?

What would signing Cantwell mean for Curtis Jones? They play in very similar positions.

I thought Jones might take Lallana's spot in the squad the kid is chomping at the bit, he might well spend next season on loand but I'd rather not bring someone in to replace a loan player.

Cantwell is a young Lallana and, as much as I love Adam, Cantwell is a poor mans Coutinho. Won’t be a starter for us. So it would have to be for homegrown quota though I think Jones is equally as good and will fight harder as a local lad.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Jones plays in a different position.}

{Ed002's Note - Jones does not need to take anyone’s place in the squad - he is underage.}

Jones should go on loan.

why should jones go on loan? he has shown that he can offer something on the pitch currently.
