Reports in Spain say that we are about to bid for Alvaro Morata? Do we have a interest eds? {Ed002's Note - RM expect that Liverpool will ask for Alvaro Morata as part of any transaction for Suarez. Sevilla are keen on him as are Atletico. He sees keen to bide his time where he is right now.}

The fact that we don't have cl football doesn't mean we can't lure in world class players! Look at moneybags Monaco! I know they can lure them in with money, but if the fsg just forked out a little more, then I'm sure we could lure in atleast one world class player? {Ed030's Note - It unfortunately will not work as simple as that look at the type of fee Monaco and Psg are paying Cavani could end up costing Psg over €100 million euros. }

What about FFP? How does that effect the rich boys? or do they get away with it. {Ed052's Note - Ed002 has explained FFP. Read up, but perhaps get a double espresso and clear the meetings for a day before having a read.}

Ed002 did a great job of explaining the rules, but I think everyone is still struggling to understand how Monaco and PSG are going to meet them with the ridiculas sums they are spending?
And Ed a quick one for you if I may, do you think FSG would have bothered investing in football if they new these rules were going to be so easily worked around?
From previous comments by them I 'd suggest not. {Ed002's Note - The rules are not being worked around. At the end of this coming season the rules will start to kick in and at some point those clubs qualifying for European competition will need to argue their spending. I have explained that this summer will see record spending and when it kicks in you will see warnings etc. as I have explained.}

What we won't get is world class players in their peak years. They want to be in the top competition while they are at the top of their game, for them they are ever mindful of the short lived career they have chosen and that CL football is gaurenteed to only a handful of clubs season in and season out. However there is no reason in the world why highly rated younger players wouldn't choose Liverpool even over a CL team. For its lack of champions league it is still a prestige club in world football with a global brand name, it is still a comparatively wealthy club paying good salarys. A talented younger player will get more first team game time at Liverpool than Bayern, Chelsea or RM and their agents know this. Sign enough young talent and we might scrape back into the CL scene then anything is possible.
Hope springs eternal, ;)

Carny.

Modern day footballers - overpaid prima donnas, they go where the money is, and CL teams tend to pay more money - however, but if none of the CL teams want their services then it's a tough choice - no CL but massive wages in sunny Monaco, or less wages in the North West of England, sadly it's a no brainer, history means nothing to the modern day footballer.
Even thinking of MK going to Dortmund, full house of 80,000 every week, good wages and CL - if everyone on here was honest, they'd have made the same choice, so it's immaterial whether or not we'd bid for him.
FFP will have absolutely no effect whatsoever, the mega rich owners will combat it and beat it.

Agree1 Disagree0

No tax in Monaco to now

Agree0 Disagree0

I think we may see some really interesting "sponsorship deals" to combat these rules.
All of these mega rich owners own Billion Dollar companies!
This represents an easy way to filter funds into any football club in a legitimate way?
Ducati Stu. {Ed002's Note - Why not take the time to read the rules - you will see that provision has been made for this.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Cheers, would be interested in reading the rules! Do you know where I can find a copy?
Stu. {Ed002's Note - The UEFA website or there is a summary here if you search on FFPR.

Agree0 Disagree0

Where is eds 002's note on financial fair play? I'd like to have a read, given I did a dissertation on it at university for my accounts degree. {Ed002's Note - Search on FFPR.}

Agree0 Disagree0

PSG have Champions league football! Also, another reason why Monaco is seen as being a good destination for the money hungry players is because it's a tax haven so players pay no tax on what they earn.

Hello eds. Can anyone let me know if we show ANY interest in Benfica players? Such as Nico Guitan or Rodrigo? I believe both posses the qualities to play in our team, and both are very skillfull players. Would love to see either of them in an LFC kit. (But I know we can't sign everyone and Portuguese sides usually have crazy release clauses. Also, sticking to Portuguese clubs: Any interest in Jackson Martinez or Alex Sandro of Porto? Much love thanks.

{Ed002's Note - My understanding is that Manchester United and PSG did speak with Benfica previously but no bid was made as the asking price was seen to be far too high. I understand that Benfica had an approach from Anzhi for Gaitan but the player has made it clear he has not any interest in talking to them - but expect them to return with a package that may just entice him to Russia. Else, I understand that the interest still remains from Manchester United and PSG with Bayer Leverkusen and Arsenal also showing interest. He will be allowed to move this summer.

Atletico Madrid have shown an interest in Rodrigo since the winter, but for now anything else is speculation. Juventus dropped what interest they had.

Porto are prepared to cash in on Jackson Martinez with varying degrees of interest from Napoli, Atletico Madrid, Chelsea, Manchester City, Spurs, Galatasaray, Juventus and Barcelona. However, Porto will seek his full release clause of 40M euro but would likely need to settle for less. Two bids from Juventus were turned down but Napoli are looking to negotiate a deal still.

Sandro does not look likely to leave.}

Posses the quality to play in our team? Give your head a shake son! It's Liverpool not Barcelona!

Hey eds, what's the situation with Ibrahim Afellay? Any interest from Liverpool? {Ed002's Note - Barcelona will be happy to see him move on loan again. Right now I would think that he will either move to PSV or possibly back to Germany. Spurs also enquired over a loan.}

Believable2 Unbelievable13

He's just injured himself again, out for a length of 3 months+ according to fresh reports today and it's a rupture of his previous injury.

Affelay is a sick note, sad but true.

Agree1 Disagree0

He's going nowhere as he's got injured again!

If Brendan Rodgers lands us Shaqiri, I will be extremely happy! Great player, and at 21 years of age still can live to his great potential! Is there any concrete interest eds? Thanks:) {Ed002's Note - He is not one of the players they are looking to sell. There was some talk of a loan to Hamburg. Liverpool has not approached Bayern about the player.}

Believable27 Unbelievable11

Real Madrid haven't approached Liverpool about Suarez.clubs don't approach clubs anymore they talk to agents.so he could be a target. {Ed002's Note - You seem to be nailing the uneducated comments still.}

Agree0 Disagree1

I'd like Shaqiri but I think we'll still need someone to fetch the goals when Sturridge is injured and I don't think Aspas can be expected to fetch more than 12-15 in the best scenario.

Losing Suarez is going to put a 30 goal hole in the squad. Now I know we were on fire when he wasn't playing but we still need that attacking bite (no excuse) in the line up.

Agree2 Disagree0

I don't see any educated comments from anyone!i see opinions about rumours.i don't see news from those who claim to be "in the know".i just see responses to other people's gossip.but it's all good clean fun you have just got to cut through the BS.:)

Well said kernow. This site gets taken far too seriously sometimes.

Hi Eds, good work as always and I appreciate your experienced comments, what's the possibility of Liverpool bidding for Rooney and selling to Manu? SPR REDS Singapore {Ed002's Note - I would not think there is any chance of bidding for Rooney.}

Believable5 Unbelievable27

Why would we want Rooney?
He would want 200k a week and he won't even get in the side!

Rooney>Liverpool that is all

Agree1 Disagree1

Thank God he is nowhere near the player he was. Let Chelsea have him that should finish him off ala Torres lol

Agree1 Disagree0

Really stupid post but vrcomp tops it then by saying he wouldn't even get in the side, what la la land are u living in vr?

Agree1 Disagree0

That would be great though!

Agree1 Disagree0

Would not want Rooney very overrated in my opinion yes he scores but he dose not work hard for the team he looks good at Manchester United because of players around him but when he plays for England he dose not seem the same player and cannot be botherd half the time.

Afternoon Ed's and Red's. Just a quick question related to PSG's latest press release. Now that PSG have said Thiago Silva will not be allowed to move this Summer, do you think this steps up potential suitor's for Agger's signature?

Hope not personally, I love the lad, slick and skillful and has gotten over his annoying injuries and become one of the best about in my opinion. Cheers, love and peas. :) {Ed002's Note - Barcelona are looking for a centre back and Agger is a player they might turn to.}

Believable7 Unbelievable10

Agger won't be leaving

Jonny spandex.

Ok I don't know may be its just me agger was sluggish last season he did let in few goals hopefully he will improve on that next season.

Hey eds,
I remember last summer you said that we were interested in amorebieta as a potential replacement for skrtel/agger, do you know if we still hold an interest in him?
Thanks {Ed002's Note - He has moved to Fulham.}

Believable5 Unbelievable19

Was he a free transfer? {Ed002's Note - He was.}

Agree1 Disagree0

A decent signing on a free. he is a good player (if of course he can adapt to the pace and physical side of the Prem. League.
