Hola eds,

Question for Ed001 or macca if they're around. Anyone know anything about Milan wanting to take brewster and moreno on loan?

Thanks.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I don't know if the interest in Brewster is still there, they wanted him if he left us. Moreno is someone they have shown interest in.}

How good is this lad tipped to be my friend?

Seems a lot of hype!

A kind of hope we trim the squad a little of players who always seem to be there when there are injuries - much rather give solanke, Woodburn, Brewster the minutes. In recent times Flanagan, Gomez and Trent have all been given chances through injury and did well - I know Flanagan hasn't pushed on, but it's always nice seeing a player come through the academy, and I hope we see some more.

I would rather have a capable squad player in a key position than gamble on an 18 ear old prospect. He can get minutes when we are 4-0 up against Arsenal. Not when 1-1 against Spurs.

Thanks Ed heard it from a friend of mine in Milan and it was first I'd heard so was initially skeptical.

Apparently they'll be making a loan offer for the pair just after WC ends. Not sure why then since neither players are involved.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - they were showing interest in Moreno last summer as well.}

18 Jun 2018 08:45:31
Tried the search engine to see if the Grulic thing had been addressed in detail but couldn't find something . Is there any serious interest in the kid that could result in him leaving or is the club looking to rid of such as Marko and Allan who play similar positions and facing similar issues such as work permits and any hope of getting game time?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Markovic is still for sale and it will be a case of setting a revised price that is realistic. His loan last season eventually turned out not too bad but when he arrived at Anderlecht he was out of shape and they were obviously not happy with that. Anderlecht did enquire after buying him but the asking price Liverpool had was prohibitive. Allan has been injured - I am not sure if he has recovered now but he will be let go on loan or permanently as there appears to be no other option. Grujic is wanted by Lazio and there have been some discussions between the clubs but there was no agreement before he left for Russia. The player and his father are apparently keen for the move to go ahead so he can get his career back on track.}

Thanks for the detailed response, it's a shame how we contributed to the stalling of these kids careers. Best of luck to them where ever they end up. Thanks again for the quick and comprehensive response.

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - I failed to mention it is Olympiakos interested in LM.}

18 Jun 2018 12:00:22
Sounds like Brewster is supposed to be the real deal.

Agree2 Disagree0

18 jun 2018 12:55:08
when i read about "how we contributed to the stalling of these kids careers" i feel kind of strange, because it sounds like you are giving the club the "harms intentionally those players" tag. you mean, the club spent money, paid salaries and on purpose kept them away from first team action? because i don't feel like markovic wasn't given a chance, he just didn't perform. grujic also played and didn't look like he should be in the first team. allan just couldn't get a wp. etc?
so, all in all, in my opinion, can't blame the club about people not having a successful career, and also, at the same time, blame the club for not buying marquee signings (whatever that is), and then blame the club for taking gambles, and then blame the club for taking a risk with somebody, etc etc etc, list goes on.
truth is, business as usual, don't stare too much. life goes on, both for players and the club. no blame needed on any part. just best of luck to everybody is in order.

Agree0 Disagree2

{Ed002's Note - You are missing the point that Liverpool never had a plan.}

18 Jun 2018 13:42:07
I won't argue on what Liverpool did wrong about every single player, but I don't think they intentionally do/ did anybody any harm. The same window they got Grujic, they also got Gomez, who proved himself worthy and is now a valuable member of the first team - more or less same age, good prospects, etc.
Same window when they bought Markovic, they got also Lallana, Origi, Balotelli - of those 3, one turned out pretty awful, one was pretty decent for a while but got injured and one was so-so and went out on loan. So there you have it - four different cases with four different players, all signed in the same window. My point is, it is more or less up to the player to show that he's the real deal. And, I 100% agree that sometimes the club makes buys that are wrong, but looking back it's easy to say "they didn't have a plan and they ruined the boy". Had Markovic done a Salah first season, we wouldn't be having this conversation.

Anyway, no need to blame anybody on "failed careers" was my starting point. Of course things can go wrong, as in life in general. And it's easy to say when you look back "hey, that was wrong". Yeah, well, they didn't know that back then. I am sure everybody wanted Grujic to turn out to be a Gerrard, I know I did.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - Nobody has ever suggested it was intentional. It was more a case of buying players at the wrong time and having a manager who makes promises which are simply not true.}

18 Jun 2018 14:37:59
Whz whilst it wasn’t intentional we had no idea what we wanted to do with these players. This was rodgers spending money for the sake of it. 20 mil and when he played Markovic he was played out of position. We then turn off clubs wanting him as we want to recoup our money which is never going to happen. So Markovic has barely played whilst his value has gone down year after year. What’s the point in that?

19 Jun 2018 01:14:43
I think eds has clarified what was meant to be said, in all honesty the tone was set for the lads the moment we signed them without a plan in place for them to progress. Let's face it with broken promise from management and club that's has not planned a path to at least develop you further the odds are just not in your favor.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Jun 2018 15:44:40
Eds I definitely think we need different options up front, maybe a target man for certain games, is the young lad taiwo awonyi anywhere near up to it as this year he has progressed more with the club he on loan at, from what I can see he looks tall strong quick an potentially a nuisance, what's your opinion on him.

Believable1 Unbelievable3

{Ed002's Note - Awoniyi will go on loan again - getting a Work Permit has proven not possible. I suspect the club will look to Anderlecht as the preferred option but other sides such as Brugge and Standard Liege might be interested in a loan.}

17 Jun 2018 16:25:59
That does make sense Ed. He did quite well in Belgium, would playing for a more higher profile team help get a permit Ed?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Potentially, but one I suspect will be a struggle to keep in the longer term. He will go on the pre-season tour of the United States and then on loan.}

17 Jun 2018 16:35:20
Ed2 are the work permit committee pissed off with us? The only reason I ask is because of how we got Grujic his by lying and I can only imagine we aren't in their good books because of that?

Agree4 Disagree4

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool abused the system so they were certainly at the time. The whole Grujic situation has been a terrible mess but it will soon be over.}

17 Jun 2018 17:17:35
How in demand is ..............

{Ed002's Note - This is the page - we are not going to answer questions about random players.}

Why can’t Solanke be the target man?

Agree6 Disagree0

17 Jun 2018 18:26:49
He is better behind a striker apparently slightly deeper that's where he plays for England youth teams.

17 Jun 2018 19:44:49
Ed002, will it be even more difficult after Brexit?

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - Not for people like Awoniyi.}

17 Jun 2018 21:09:46
Sure, but I’m mean will the permit panel be a bit overwhelmed when the EU players have to apply?

Reds very keen on Lucas Paqueta, talks set to start soon.

Dave Mattock has said on Twitter that the rumoured interest is wrong.

17 Jun 2018 02:52:51
Hi Eds, any truth to the Lucas Paqueta rumours? Cheers.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - I don't know because I don't know what rumours you are on about. He was scouted last season, as was Ziyech and a number of other players that play a similar way but Fekir was chosen to be the signing. I have not heard of us moving on yet, but I have been too busy to chase up anything over the last couple of days so might easily have missed something.}

17 Jun 2018 05:58:30
Ed 1 is there any update on shaqiri? Is he even a target?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - as I keep saying, I don't know mate. I have not heard anything either way with regards to him.}

17 Jun 2018 08:39:01
Morning Ed, when you say you are not aware of us moving yet do you still think that there is a chance fekir still signs? Are you aware of the complications of the medical and if so would you still sign him?
Thanks for your time.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - yes there is every chance. Things were just put aside until after the World Cup.}

17 Jun 2018 09:35:07
Cheers ed, would you say all possible signings have been "put aside" until after the world cup, or are we looking at options/ something could hapen during the WC?

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - it won't stop, it is more of a pause to reconsider options.}

17 Jun 2018 11:43:16
I've heard that we're seriously reconsidering all our targets after one of our scouts accidentally stumbled across some charity match yesterday. Make of it what you will.

He comes with a free drink and pack of crisps.

He isn't a bad player if you have ever watched more than a couple of games of his. Don't think he's good enough for liverpool but a mid table prem team yes.

Quick question to the Ed's. After going through the search engine I see Ed001 and Ed002 have mentioned interest in Clyne, Lallana etc. just wondering if there's been anything a lilttle more serious or enquiries lately for any of our players that we're hoping to sell. I realize it's still early days, cheers in advance Ed's. Appreaciate all the work you all do on here, I'm on this page everyday!

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - not that I am aware of. Might be a case of them becoming late options due to the injuries they have suffered meaning they are not first choice.}

17 Jun 2018 10:54:06
Thank you ed!

{Ed001's Note - welcome.}
