Hi guys I'm well informed from an excellent source who I have no reason to doubt about two transfers to be completed within the next week or two maximum. Both are Southampton players!

The first is Alex McCarthy with a 7.5 million fee wanted.

The second is Matt target and is valued around 15 million although Liverpool want to do a deal for both players closer to 15 million.

Both could be excellent home grown snips.

Lets see.

As long as it's Southampton I'm alright.

We have more saints than the local temple lol.

I’ve got the same source lerchy. It’s call every sports news outlet mate. It’s been in the news all day but thanks anyway.

Is targett decent I haven't seen much of him, hoping he is firstly good defensively and then can get forward if he was too come.

17 Jun 2019 21:42:52
Cheers for sharing lerchy.

{Ed025's Note - i dont know why klopp never just took the southampton job in the first place and had done with it PB.. :)

17 Jun 2019 22:27:39
I think you picked up the wrong sauce.

17 Jun 2019 23:08:56
no kidding Ed.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jun 2019 00:44:11
Nice 1 ed25. Imagine what he could have done at Southampton when they had just bought VVD.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - they have had some very good players robbo, their scouting network is very good but it must be frustrating for their supporters when moneybags liverpool just come and pillage all their players mate..

18 Jun 2019 07:26:08
Ed025, come on now these little partnerships exist all over, not just between Liverpool and Southampton. I mean don't Everton have a history of pillaging Man Utd of its players?
Granted, it's the tosh that they want out but still, Everton have definitely got a load of loyalty points for shopping at Man Utd.

Agree5 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - it does happen at other clubs bobby but there is such a thing as overkill, for gods sake let that poor club breathe!, they will be one of the favourites to be relegated next season and its all down to liverpool, its bullying its intrusive and its unfair, get your own scouting network..

18 Jun 2019 07:31:11
That's why he struggled at Dortmund wasn't it ed except it was bayern.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - thats right berg, so you think he would have more decorum mate..

18 Jun 2019 08:02:23
To be fair, we did give saints about £80m For Lallana, Lambert, Clyne and Lovren so they probably don't mind us shopping there!

Agree9 Disagree1

18 Jun 2019 08:15:35
To be fair, klopp has only bought two players from Southampton.

Agree4 Disagree1

18 Jun 2019 08:21:13
Yep, its all down to Liverpool, nothing to do with players wanting to play at a higher level or Southampton getting tens of millions for the players earning massive profits off them, haha.

Agree10 Disagree1

18 Jun 2019 10:01:26
We sold Ings to them and they could have Clyne and Lallana too.

Agree8 Disagree1

18 Jun 2019 10:07:23
Dont mind the idea of Mcarthy as a backup GK, but i would love us to go for Sessegnon as partner to Robertson for the LB position.

Agree3 Disagree4

18 Jun 2019 11:44:39
Not exactly top class player purchases are they? City are signing Rodri from Atletico and Cancelo from Juventus, how can Jurgen compete with that, if McCarthy and Targett are our only two signings for this season, expect the gap between Liverpool an City to widen significantly, no offense to both those players but they're mid-table signings.

Agree3 Disagree12

{Ed001's Note - Robertson has done ok on bridging the gap and he was not even mid-table when he joined.}

18 Jun 2019 12:21:04
I agree lerchy, that they sound like good deals. Homegrown too.

They may seem underwhelming to some but so did Andy Robertson and Aoc. If klopp and the team have identified them as good targets then i trust in them completely.

Eds, could some deal with Danny Ings be involved?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - the Ings deal is done.}

18 Jun 2019 12:52:52
Thanks for the rumour lerchy.

At the price of 15mill for both decent backups to have. Yeah Targett is a weird one but young enough to make a go of it if he can improve under the set up at lfc.

Maybe a couple of signings like that keeps funds free for a attacking mid or help for the front three usually a position that’s more costly.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jun 2019 13:01:49
Exactly Robbie mate, targetts first team chances have been limited due to the excellent bertrand. If Klopp thinks it’s a good signing I’m with him, with the transfer fee it’s a low risk gamble plus it adds to the home grown quota.

Agree1 Disagree0

18 Jun 2019 13:20:46
Re-bolsters the HG quotient, seems a reasonable amount of money for a couple of decent backups.

Agree1 Disagree0

18 Jun 2019 13:32:35
ed001 what's your thoughts on Targett, from the games I see him play last season I don't see the point as I would much rather Milner cover there or even give Adam Lewis a shot as he never looked any thing like good enough for are first team.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I don't want to waste Milner on covering left-back except in desperation. And I am not convinced by Lewis at all. Targett's issue is injuries, he was way ahead of Shaw in youth teams until injury ruled him out as he was set to make his debut. He still struggles to stay fit, that is why I would not be so keen on him.}

18 Jun 2019 15:07:38
A good homegrown option as backup imo, who won't cost much or expect to start games, yet has the potential to become very good. If our medical team can get Sturridge fit they can get anyone fit!

Lewis is going to go out on loan, he's got a lot to prove so a season in the lower leagues should show whether he's got enough potential for the top or not.

Have the Eds any tid-bits on clubs interested in loaning Liverpool players? The limit has been reduced, right? How many allowed now?
Thanks Eds!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It depends where they are loaned to. I have answered this before.}

18 Jun 2019 16:43:41
Just an observation about Southampton and Liverpool 'pinching' their best players; I recall reading this a couple of years back. Draw a 50 mile radius from Southampton and you get a lot of sea to the south but you capture 4 million people. Do the same in Liverpool and you capture 8 million people. The academies that Southampton compete with include Bournemouth and Portsmouth and at a real stretch Reading and Brighton. Liverpool compete with Everton, Tranmere, all Greater Manchester clubs, Preston, Blackpool, Crewe, Stoke, etc, etc. This is picking kids for academies not scouting, but I think it is a fair point to make about competition for local talent.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - You mean like Lovren, van Dijk and mane?}

18 Jun 2019 11:53:36
Come on Ed025. Nobody, and I mean nobody, can do anything to you if you don't allow it to happen, in the first place. So Southampton are willing sellers because they allow it to happen. And I think they have been very handsomely compensated with the fee for VVD, to balance out any other previous misgivings. It's the business. We do to Southampton what Barcelona did to us. 😉.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed025's Note - 2 wrongs have never made a right ArAy and i feel for their supporters who pay good money and see their team decimated every season mate..

18 Jun 2019 17:51:46
I will agree with Targett at this moment ed025, but I feel if Liverpool had not secured Mane and VVD, another top 6 club would have definitely signed them and Southampton would still have been in the same state.

In that case, it would have not only been damaging for Saints but also for us mate.

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed025's Note - im sure if everton had signed them 2 then i would certainly not be complaining MH, it must be terribly hard to stomach for the saints fans though mate..

18 Jun 2019 18:35:49
ed025 is it not like Barcelona signing player of us.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - in a way it is grino, but if they took 3/4 of your side then you would really have a case mate..

18 Jun 2019 19:04:25
I feel for the saints fans, every window must be sickening. But they really need to look at who's running their club and not ours. Football is all about what players you have and who you can buy to strengthen the team, and what youth players you can bring through to save and make money. They can always say no, but when a players heads turned, it's very hard as we have experienced before and will again no doubt. But if saints have a player we want, we should make a fair offer and respect their reply.

Agree1 Disagree2

{Ed002's Note - You don't want to worry too much about them. Liverpool massively over paid for van Dijk in cash they didn't have and had to borrow. And it was yet another attempt of the Liverpool directors trailing a trail of slime to beg them not to make a complaint about the tapping up. And they have had to do that over another player since.}

18 Jun 2019 19:15:54
Absolute bull Ed 2. Your smear campaign isn’t working.

Agree3 Disagree5

{Ed002's Note - What smear campaign - what isn't true there? Every word is true as it always is. Klopp is a cheat - there is no disputing that. Liverpool paid for van Dijk after he had been on strike for 6 moths - a bottom of the pile human being. Liverpool paid £15M pounds more plus enormous agent fees than the club was asking from the non cheating clubs. Liverpool paid in cash with money they borrowed as they did not have it. Moron.}

18 Jun 2019 20:07:27
Ed001 only just catching up with things on here mate. Do you no if any interest from us in Targett then?

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - I don't sorry.}

19 Jun 2019 01:01:19
I live in Southampton, and yes their fans are pretty fed up of us poaching their players.
We're not too popular a club down this way.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jun 2019 20:16:31
Ed002, FSG stumped up the cash for VVD, am I correct in saying that.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - They borrowed the money.}

19 Jun 2019 07:03:42
Ed25. Just saying, but Klopp only signed 2 Soton players. Just saying. 😅.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - your right robbo its not really a klopp issue, its a liverpool one, the saints are struggling to stay afloat as are a lot of teams and the big boys take advantage of that....when i was at school (many many years ago) it was called bullying now its called business..

19 Jun 2019 07:03:15
I don't get it why borrowing money is a problem, this is how business works antway, of course they will do it. And it paid out, as Van Dijk is a Ballon d'or contender and we won the CL, so good loan right there.

Agree2 Disagree0

19 Jun 2019 11:27:04
Klopp does what a lot of managers and players do, tap up their fellow countrymen while away, Madrid and Barcelona are the worse by a mile, if Saints didn't want the money they could say no and so could the player, like it or not Liverpool is a massive step up and any player with ambition would choose the move.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jun 2019 20:10:00
The way I see it, whether it's Liverpool or not, these players would have probably moved elsewhere cos I don't think we were the only interested club at the time. I don't get the "bullying" thing. To blame their struggles to stay afloat in the league on Liverpool is a little misplaced for me. But, what do I know?

Agree2 Disagree0

17 Jun 2019 17:13:48
Any truth to the rumours we are negotiating with Barcelona for dembele eds?

It's likely he'll leave Barcelona this summer with coutinho but some journalists are reporting we have been in touch with barca.

Believable0 Unbelievable10

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any negotiations.}

17 Jun 2019 20:40:41
3! Dembele questions in the space of two hours - all answered with the most minimal of fuss.
Just another thank you for all the you do and are (Ed) dies!

Agree0 Disagree8

17 Jun 2019 22:11:35
If the stories about his off field behaviour are true- and let's face it, we don't know for sure do we- but if they are, then the club will be aware, and they will surely steer clear of his lad at £90m, however gifted he is.

Agree2 Disagree0

18 Jun 2019 08:23:06
I hope not, Barcelona are like any club and made a desperate signing to appease fans that Neymar had gone, the lads not all that at all, hope we don't touch him.

Agree0 Disagree2

18 Jun 2019 11:01:12
Hi Eds,

You say there has been no negotiations but is it a player we have an interest in?

Thanks.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any discussions with Barcelona and again he would be a Salah replacement- or is he a Dembele replacement - who replaced Pepe who replaced Salah.

18 Jun 2019 12:29:34
Lol ed02. But again he plays on the opposite side to salah, same with sane. Dembele was looked at last year i remember, or there was a lot of talk. Macca predicted we'd sign him.

I think to call the lad "not all that" is way way off the mark. He's a fine footballer and i think he'd be brilliant in the premier league. A club like liverpool and a boss like klopp is just what the lad needs. Too young to write him off. Some are debating whether wilson should get a shot and the two lads are pretty close in age. Only one has played for dortmund and Barcelona the other has played for derby.

If we can sign him we should. I would see him more of a Danny Sturridge replacement than a Salah one. DS came to us as a forward/ winger who scored goals.

Agree0 Disagree2

{Ed001's Note - the lad is an idiot of Neymar proportions though. Steer clear please.}

17 Jun 2019 14:54:52
Hi Eds, apparently Barcelona have offered Ousmane Demebele to Liverpool as long as we match there valuation. I believe we had previous interest in the past, i think Klopp liked him. Would this be someone we would go for as a Salah replacement should he leave knowing that he is available?

Believable1 Unbelievable5

{Ed002's Note - Ousmane Demebele would obviously be a Salah replacement but I suspect a move to Liverpool is unlikely and I am not aware of Barcelona offering him to Liverpool- but they are certainly not happy with him.}

17 Jun 2019 19:10:19
Thanks ED002, thought it would be a longshot.

Agree6 Disagree0

17 Jun 2019 23:28:07
So there's the two players Barcelona bought with the nemar money surplus to requirements, and both going on strike to force the move. Grass not always greener.

Agree5 Disagree0

18 Jun 2019 00:54:44
Well said port red. Not to go against anything the OP said but, if Barcelona are trying to call us out on prices for their reserves, they might want to take a step back and look at the 6 times European Champions record of selling them OUR reserves.

Agree1 Disagree1

18 Jun 2019 12:31:59
Already said it but i reckon dembele would be a Sturridge replacement. As salah is not leaving this year. And there was interest last year when Salah certainly wasn't leaving. And they play on opposite sides of the pitch.

Agree0 Disagree1

18 Jun 2019 14:36:34
I keep seeing "dembele plays on the opposite side to Salah" but he's left footed right? Klopp has the system setup so the wingers cut in on their strongest foot meaning dembele would go be for the right side.

Agree1 Disagree1

17 Jun 2019 17:08:56
Any truth in the dembele links or is he seen as a replacement for 1 of the front 3 leaving. Ousmane dembele that is.

Cheers.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - I don't know mate, Klopp was interested before he went to Barca so it could just be putting 2 and 2 together and coming up with 22 or it could be genuine. I will try and find out now.}

17 Jun 2019 17:33:54
Another transfer window another Demebele to Liverpool rumour. It’s like doing your taxes. You will get the notice every year!

Agree8 Disagree1

17 Jun 2019 17:41:36
A new name every day lol. Pepe Fernandez Fekir and Dembele. It will be more BS mate given what’s been advised about Pepe only being an option if Salah leaves and the fact we won’t make any major signings.

Non starter.

Agree1 Disagree2

17 Jun 2019 17:42:03
Let us know when you can Ed

Do you rate him? Sometimes I think he looks mustard other times pretty poor

Thanks.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - very inconsistent but there is talent there.}

17 Jun 2019 17:54:23
Cheers ed and posters. Wouldn't mind him but concerned that he struggled at Barcelona making that step up in expectations how would he cope going up again lol.

Agree6 Disagree1

17 Jun 2019 22:28:30
It’s also his lack of focus and determination.

Agree1 Disagree0

17 Jun 2019 16:02:01
Acc. to Sky Sports, Coutinho has ruled out a move to United out of respect for Liverpool.

Believable8 Unbelievable4

17 Jun 2019 16:22:27
Out of "respect" for Liverpool? More like he knows how disliked he is by Liverpool fans for the way in which he left, and that he's afraid of the reception that he'd get if he ended up signing for United?

Also, surely he can see the mess that they're in and wouldn't want to be part of it anyway. It could end up being terribly embarrassing for him if he signed for them.

Agree9 Disagree8

17 Jun 2019 17:08:35
He should’ve ruled out a move to Barcelona instead.

Agree15 Disagree1

17 Jun 2019 17:25:04
Shouldn't gloat I know but I do enjoy it when a player agitates for a move and then it all goes pear shaped. Regardless of how you see him now, at least Suarez has had lots of success since he went out there!

18 Jun 2019 01:10:41

18 Jun 2019 12:38:37
I believe him when he says that. He was a red for years. We developed him into one of the best players in the world. It has been said that he regrets leaving Liverpool and i believe that too.

It won't be the only motivation behind him snubbing utd, much more likely is the state that utd are in right now. But i believe that liverpool are part of the reason.

Dodgy theory: coutinio, through his agent, generates interest in a utd move. Snubs them at the last minute because he still has love for liverpool. Paving the way for pipco's return.

Hi Ed002, Dorukhan Tokoz is the latest player we have been linked with.

Know about it or is it just the media blabbering on?

Believable4 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - I know that Udinese have been in talks.}

17 Jun 2019 11:31:13
Dorukhan Toköz is an interesting link as he's fairly versatile and can equally play at right-back as well as in midfield. He wouldn't be too expensive (although Udinese had a bid of around £7m supposedly turned down) and could provide back-up in numerous areas. and he gets the odd goal and assist from defensive midfield. not a bad squad player IMHO but allegedly Beşiktaş want around £9m for him.

Agree3 Disagree2

17 Jun 2019 12:08:26
Only way we will sign another CM is if they are able to provide cover in other positions in defence like Fabinho does.

Agree1 Disagree2

18 Jun 2019 01:15:00
@reynard have you seen him much? As you say, he's interesting, especially at the price quoted mate.

I have never heard of him tbf.

Agree1 Disagree0

18 Jun 2019 07:58:13
@Robbospress I've seen him a few times as my mother (before she died this year) got me addicted to (some) Turkish Football. He reminds me of Henderson (with a touch of Emre Can) in his tenacity and playing style. He certainly can defend but I think he is more cultured in attacking situations than the statistics suggest. I'm not sure he'd get much game time here but if we're to get one more year from Millie then I'd imagine he'd be given (if bought) the task of learning as much from Millie as possible. My problem is that he is prone to injury because of his playing style so I'd discount everything until one of OUR medicals was passed. From what I saw on Turkish tv Arsenal are also interested.

Hi Ed's just wanted to ask has there been any new developments in Clyne at all?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - not that I know of. I had expected him to make the loan permanent, but they are having a rethink due to his lifestyle.}

He got the munchies!

Agree9 Disagree0

17 Jun 2019 10:36:17
Should have never signed him. The Southampton defence at the time before he moved made him look good.

He is just costing the club more and more money the longer he stays on.

We would be better off terminating his contract and pay what is due to him as he is on holday at Anfield and unlikely any club going to take on his wages.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - he never looked good at Southampton or Palace, it was a bizarre signing caused by bad scouting. One of the most important things is to check out a player's background and lifestyle and no one did that.}
