There are reports coming out of Spain that Barcelona want Sterling, however the player wants a return to Liverpool.

Can any of the Ed's please pour some cold water on this? Or liquid Nitrogen if you have any to hand!

{Ed002's Note - Raheem Sterling (LW/RW) At the right price his sale will help the start of a rebuild. He will be available for perhaps £60-70M. Could be one of the players offered to Spurs for Kane or Barcelona if any part exchange is possible, although Barcelona want to keep hold of their most desired players and have other options . Arsenal may offer an option as a Pepe replacement. Else he will have to settle for a new contract. I am not aware of any interest from Liverpool who are not short of LW options. I am not aware of what the player wants.}

There is no way we are giving City £70m so they can rebuild and we can have him sat on our bench.

Thank Fowler for that then!

surely City don't need to sell Sterling to start a rebuild?

{Ed002's Note - Clubs cannot simply keep adding players and must stay within the FFP rules.}

As thick as Raheem Sterling is (and he ranks somewhere between pigsh*t thick and as being as thick as mince), even he must be self aware enough to know how detested he by us? I can’t imagine that it’s true for one minute that he wants to rejoin. And if there is any shred of truth in it, I’d hope the owners remember him mocking Hillsborough and Sean Cox.

ya hear that everyone? the guru has spoken. City, like liverpool, need to sell to buy.

Does Pepe want out of Arsenal Ed002?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Pepe's agent is offering him around.}

19 Nov 2021 09:36:56
Apparently Arsenal are prepared to take around a £50m hit on Pepe, Barry. That is actually worth a punt (whereas he’s not a £70m player, he’s decent value at £20-25m), he did manage to get 10 goals in a relatively poor Arsenal side last season. I think there is a bargain to be had there.

{Ed002's Note - He will not be moving to Liverpool.}

Ed02, how is replacing Sterling with Kane a rebuild?
Sterling 26, and Kane 28?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Who is suggesting that?}

17 Nov 2021 09:50:36
Ed002, you've explained a number of times about interest in Traore and Bowen for the forward positions, but do you know any interest in strikers/ no. 9's to compete with Bobby?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool need to sell if they are going to buy as they have huge debts that need to be serviced and plan on doing additional work on the stadium. Regrdless they do have an interest in Karim Adeyemi (S) Interest from several sides who have been watching including Barcelona and Liverpool but will not be sold in January. Bayern Munich were told Adeyemi is not for sale and his agent says eventually a move to RBL is planned and I would expect him to be playing in Germany next season. However, Bayern Munich will look to early discussions to try and strike a deal for next summer or just possibly 2023. Juventus offer an option in Italy and Sevilla do in Spain. RBS will continue to resist an early sale but will be will open to an auction next summer. I would not rule out an offer from Borussia Dortmund.}

Thanks Ed, any other strikers than Adeyemi? Sounds like he's very unlikely to join.

{Ed002's Note - Not out and out strikers that I am aware of but the club continue to look at more versatile players like Traore.}

The word Traore is usually a trigger for mass hate/ hysteria on this site Ed please use it wisely (or were you hoping for a few bites? )

Traore is versatile in the respect he can play in multiple positions and be completely ineffective in all of them.

I don't get the Traore hate. He's extremely athletic and strong, and also has decent skill. If the price is right, I am interested to see what he can become playing for a manager like Klopp and a club that does a good job of drilling players into great, consistent form. . Or maybe this will indeed play out like real life is Football Manager, and be a disaster. Who knows.

Me neither buddy, I'd support anyone if they pooped the jersey on. He tore city a new backside in a couple of games a few years ago. He attracts at least 2 or 3 opposing players so will create space for others and with some coaching could be a great signing.

mftonjes he literally doesn’t create or score goals, he is the footballing equivalent of a pub with no beer.

His only attribute is his physical strength and pace. He can’t pass, his crossing is awful and his shooting is non existent and his decision making is terrible, if they couldn’t train that into him at La Masia (widely regarded as the finest place in Europe for developing technique in young footballers), then no one can at his age, he’s as good as he’s ever going to be, which is somewhere less than mediocre. We’d be just as well flushing the money down the bog.

And considering we don’t have much money, we can’t afford a mistake like Traore. It’s not hate, it’s just criticism of a player who simply isn’t good enough to play for a team competing at the top.

{Ed014's Note - I make you spot on in your summation mate! 👍🏼

VVVV, I cringe at the thought of him being a guy we rely heavily on ("Salah replacement" OMG), but having him coming in for 25-30M as a squad player (Origi replacement perhaps) intrigues me. If he's just impossible to teach, then I'm not interested, but I haven't heard any credible rumblings on that at all. There just seems to be such a high ceiling for him in our squad, finally getting the chance to play for a creative coaching staff as an adult pro. He has the potential to be unmarkable, and that could be a great option in the right hands. We just seem to do really well with guys who have question marks following them around. I'd love to know what our research team thinks of him.

Hi Ed’s and reds, been reading lots of reports linking us for a move for Alexander Isak, is there anything in this? Looks like the sort of player we go for. Seems as though he’d fit our team really well. The other player I’d noticed links to was Carlos Soler another one I feel could be a brilliant accusation. He’s a player much like Gini maybe more of a playmaker than a b2b but and plays in numerous positions something. Just wondered if the had any thoughts or insight into these rumours. Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - Alexander Isak (S) Michael Zorc wanted to take him back from Real Sociedad regardless of any different wishes of the coach at Borussia Dortmund and the interest from BD may continue still. Barcelona see him as a possible addition but are not well placed to add him. Manchester City have a desire to add the player and Chelsea have considered him as a Tammy Abraham replacement but consider the asking price high. Manchester United have watched the player but are less attractive as a destination. Arsenal see him as an option to their preferred Lacazette replacements but the price is a concern and again they will not be attractive. Real Madrid are keen but have preferred options. Real Sociedad have financial woes and may take the opportunity to profit now they have removed the buy back clause to keep him this season. They will seek the full €70M termination fee in cash from sides other than Borussia Dortmund who will have a discount - but will likely not get takers at that price.

Liverpool has not shown any interest in Carlos Soler.}
