Come monday morning, Its time to get back to business,

The structure of the club will come under fire. Does anyone know who will be in the new boardboard.

Also will lfc have managing directors? directors of football. Will lfc be setup like a itailan team where the manager is a figure-head that is easy to replace and has little say over transfers.

where can i apply for a management job at lfc? is it in echo

My main concern is very much that due to the extended NESV takeover and International week, Reds fans appear to have forgotten about the Blackpool result which if iam honest is still harder to accept than an almost expected defeat by the toffee's! Whilst oy was seen by many as a 'safe pair of hands' appointment (me included) i feel having suufferred our lowest points return in over 53 years yielding a 25% return he is clearly out of his depth! Whilst i may not have been one of Rafa's supporters towards the end of his reign, i know that had he still been at the helm he would have got more from this squad than what Roy and his backroom team are at present. The players clearly are unhappy with the new dynamics and as we have seen before with Chelsea and the Scolari appointment, player power will always undermine the coach if they are unhappy and results do not go as expected. Defeats v EFC, Mancs x2 and Blackpool suggest the Scolari factor is very much a part of Melwood and Anfield and i can only see things going worse before better and with Big Sam and his clear affiliation for the Scousers on the horizon who would bet against him being another party pooper! I have watched now for over 25 years ( home and away / season ticket etc) and feel that whilst he is not to blame for all of the problems he will be the fall guy and be put out of his misery before December whatever the results. Nice guy but not upto the challenge of returning this club to greatness. My money would be on a swift appointment of the King until the summer then either Hiddink or Jose either would suffice!

Pellegrini does not speak English.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Neither did Maldini, Capello, Ancelotti etc means nothing really. I'm sure he could start learning it as there could be a job being made available in England in January or even before.

Roy can't even speak proper English.

Does anyone have any info on the whole torres situation?

There was that incident a few weeks ago against sunderland where torres assisted gerrard in the goal to bring the game level at 2-2 and where he would usually celebrates with torres just completely blanked him.

Again against everton you could see signs that the relationship between him and gerrard also carragher is not healthy.

Has his head been turned, because where I'm sitting he looks like he will be gone in the summer.

Hey ed what would your opinion be on signing podolski for left wing or a forward role? {ed's note - I think he would be made for the English leagues. I think he would be an excellent signing.}

he strikes me as the sort of player who would get homesick, would be worth sounding him out tho {ed's note - that would be the main worry about him - would he settle in England?}

Get Klinsmann in and he will come. Maybe Schweinsteiger, Muller and Lahm too. Who knows. The talent is in Germany though.

i heard intrest from city and we obviously can't compete with the likes of that wishful thinking BelfastRed {ed's note - he is the kind of person who wouldn't go for the money any more mate. He went to Bayern chasing money and glory and it was a bit of a disaster for him. Though the amount of money they can wave under his nose will probably sway him!}

Roy Hodgson was brought to LFC because he is a well respected manager who knows how to get the most out of players. At Fulham he had an average squad of players and created a strong team who all worked hard for each other without having too many gifted players. .I like Roy but think he looks a little out of his depth with the large ego's and high earning and very average players we have in the squad. He can't get the team to fight or work for each other, Don't get me wrong I have said before that this is a tough job and will take a long time to fix, thanks to Rafa's shocking dealings in the transfer market. But he doesn't fill me with confidence when he gives interviews and is starting to sound like Rafa saying he thought we played well today? ?
We need a really strong manager to come in and be harsh with all the players who don't give 100% including Torres. .Who that is Mourinho for me. .Maybe Kenny short term although he has been out of the game for a while. .Any thoughts guys. .

Roy H has to go by december, King Kenny in until the end of the season. . .it won't be an issue for him to be in charge for 5 months. HE WANTS THE JOB!, so let him do it. As long as we finish in the top ten his rep will still be intact.

New manager beginning of next season, potentially:

1.Manuel Pelligrini (Unattached)
2.Frank Rijkaard (out of contract in June)
3.Marco van basten (Unattached)
4.Michael Laudrup (Managing small club in spain)
5.Didier Deschamps (May well take it if offered again, as we have new owners).

5 really good candidates but maybe only a couple until end of the season.

Ed, what do u think of this analysis, fair comments? {ed's note - not really, van Basten is unattached because he has not been a success anywhere he has been as a coach. But more importantly, Mallorca are hardly a 'small club in Spain', they may not be Barca or Real Madrid, but they are a top flight side with their very own oil sheikh backing them.}

Ed, i believe u may be talking about Malaga, who have indeed been bought out by a member of Qatars ruling family. . {ed's note - oops was it not Mallorca?}

was malaga CF {ed's note - oh ok cheers, I always get those two mixed up, the places as well as the teams. My knowledge of Spanish geography is so bad I am not even sure if they are in the same region.}

Ed doya reackon roy will be given the sack or wat? {ed's note - he was always going to be given the push when the new owners came in mate. His only chance was to do so well during the troubled times that he was seen as irreplaceable. Unfortunately he hasn't done that, I doubt he will have a second chance.}

Who do you think should get the job if Roy gets his P45?

I said before Roy got it i'd like Michael Luadrup but i think he went to Mallorca. I like Pelligrenni his teams seem to play good attractive football. I just can't think who else we could get IF Roy gets the sack of course.

Blair Mayne YNWA {ed's note - I think O'Driscoll from Donnie, though no one else seems to agree, failing that (other than the 2 you have mentioned) I would look at Di Matteo.}

doubt odriscoll will come in considering the team he manages at the minute if roy does get the sack the owners board should be looking for an experienced manager that plays lovely attractive football then again stranger things have happened BelfastRed

Aquilani put in a Man of the match performance for Juve against Leece and opened the scoring with a 35 yard belter. Surely he has something to offer Liverpool. He can bring more to the team than Lucas or Maxi. And if not in the starting 11, even his sternest of critics (thats you Ed) would be hard pushed to say he wouldn't drasticaly improve our bench. As bad as we have played/ started this season, with everybody else dropping points we're only two wins away from a CL position.

Roy do us all a favour and stick Lucas, Poulsen and Maxi in the freeads under 'Free to good home' {ed's note - I don't think he is a bad player, he is just the biggest wimp on earth. He makes Aurelio seem like a hard man and even Darren Anderton pokes fun at his injury record.}

Have heard rumours that came from a steward at goodison that torres and carragher where having a stand up screaming match after the game. Something is really wrong with torres and the only reason he didn't go in summer was no one offered the price liverpool wanted. As a life long fan and I hope I am wrong expect the mancs to make a bid for him to replace shrek.
Things have to get better soon.
Hopeful red.

Ed what players do you think we should get/ need?

wingers such as arda, mata, elia? {ed's note - a couple of wingers and a target man. A utility player, I think most of the regular posters will know I want Honda to be signed for that role. Banega would be the only other player I would be considering.}

Hi first time posting but i read posts every day on here great work ed and fellow supporters,

i feel hodgson is too nicey nicey and worried our tradition of not pushing managers out might do more harm then good,

konchesky and poulsen are shocking buys, i like merieles mind you, but too be playing lucas, maxi ahead of babel and gerrard centre mid and ngog (still not good enough) up top 2 make 4-4-2 is beyond me, he looked stuck on sidelines whole match and only made decisions when was too late, days are numbered i hope as we can get manager in now who can put there stamp on team and then will know if will work and how many signings needed in jan, personally id love to have taiwo/ cissoko left back, sanchez/ mata on wings and llorente upfront, and i no will not go down well but carragher has had his day and id replace with either one of the brum boys or cahill from bolton just my point of view for first post, agree or disagree down to you. .

Ed what you think about santi cazorla? he can play on both flanks and seems to be quality {ed's note - I would want to see a bit more of him before making a decision on him. I do agree though, he does seem quality from the little I have seen of him and he plays positions we need to strengthen.}

Macca, you clearly are someone who knows what's going on if Torres does not want to be around Anfield it won't be good for team morale. At one point today Carra was shouting at Torres who turned and put his finger to his lips basically telling him to shut up. Somthing is going on

Great spot ED on Di matteo! Me and the brother were just talking about him and how good we thought he was. I also think it might be a bit to soon for him. But there's no doubt 2-3 years if he keeps doing what he's doing then i deffiantly see a big job for him. Chelsea maybe?

I read from a few article's that both Barcelona and Real were now looking to sign Llorente after his good form in the last 18 months for club and country. He'd be perfect for us you might see him going to Barca in January as a straight replacement for Ibrahimovic.

Blair Mayne YNWA {ed's note - I hope not, I would like him for us. He will definitely be on the move before next season though, injuries and form permitting.}

Alonso Honda sanchez nilamar mexes and coentrao. Highly unrealistic but what would you think Ed? {ed's note - would be nice, but yeah very unrealistic. What would you think of Banega in place of Alonso? Very similar players, but Banega is a bit younger and obtainable.}

Llorente has a 36million buy out clause according to Sky Sports coverage of the Spanish football tonight. So, I doubt he'll be coming anytime soon. {ed's note - that doesn't mean he would cost that much. They normally put a ridiculously high valuation on the buy out just to make sure that players only move when they want them to.}

First off-sack hodgson, bring in Flores, klinsmann or pellegrini. Secondly take everyone out of the team for the next match (as none except reina and gerrard look like they shud be there). Next match play GK: reina, RB: Darby, CB's: Kelly and Wilson, LB: ?, RM: Amoo, CM's: Shelvey and Suso, LM: Ince, ST: N'Gog and Ngoo."

Anyone else think that it is time for Carragher to play a bit less of a part in the EPL? He has lost half a yard and now is more suited perhaps to playing the games in Europa League and FA Cup? I think a centre pairing of Agger and Skrtel or parhaps even Agger and Kelly would be better, more pace, strangth and younger so we have more years left in them.
Believable if you agree - Unbelievable if not

(What do you think of this Ed? Good idea or not?) {ed's note - Carra needs someone young and with a lot of pace alongside him if he is going to play. Skrtel and Kyrgiakos are just not good partners for him.}

Click believe if you agree with my assesment of the squad players below.

Konchesky - Out of his depth
Maxi - Chicken with his head cut off
Cara - Sorry but past his best
Skrtel - Dodgy defender
Cole - Out of position
Torres - Head has been turned and on his way
Jovanovic - He wishes he never came
Kuyt - Out of position
Lucas - Liability
Babel - Had his chance
Ngog - Reserve striker at best
WOY - HAS GOT TO GO. . . .

King Kenny was behind the new owners today and his face was bitter for some reason. .he is usually quite upbeat, I wonder if he know's something. Like woy is on his way and they have lined up someone else. . .

Ed, i feel like i posted something about ayala being our best defender a few months ago, but it never got posted. Let me repeat, Ayala is our best defender.

Hodgson after Chris Brunt, decent player, but 9mil is a heavy price tag, would rather go for Jarvis if we're going for a low budget Prem player. TBH, would rather see Turan or Mata, Turan being more realistic.

As for a striker, two names that haven't come up that a certain source tells me to keep an eye on are jerome and agbonlahor, they both pitched in with over 10 goals apiece last season and wouldn't come with a ridiculous price tag.

I put off posting this email until after todays game, (I have a headache and feel depressed, ) H&G have been shown the door the home side, so today we should be putting on a show maybe not a win but certainly a show of spirit, we haven't moved on since the backend of last season.We've gained konchesky poulsen & jovanivic. We've seen nothing of wilson shelvey and little of kelly Roy we are been beaten with our regulars so we may as well bring in the youth, Roy I'm sure you are a nice guy but you are NOT the man for LFC (if I had to pick one manager from the Premier league it would be Owen Coyle at Bolton) Lets not be suprised when our new yanks decide that enough is enough and King Kenny is brought in as a temporary measure

Ed who do you think would be the ideal manager or is roy the right man {ed's note - I can't say I ever saw Roy as a long term option, myself I feel we need someone much younger who will be here for the long term. I have given the list of 4 I would want already but I suppose it can't hurt to say it again: Sean O'Driscoll (Doncaster Rovers), Manuel Pellegrini (I believe he is currently unemployed), Roberto Di Matteo (West Bromwich Albion) and Michael Laudrup (who is managing in Spain but I can't remember which team it is he is at). Heard that Kenny Dalglish is a big fan of Arda Turan - he's a smart, pacy, skillfull winger; exactly what we need (real width). He would cost about 15M-20M. If not this winger then maybe Mata for Babel and 10M?
Its obvious that we need a partner of quality for Torres so:
Dzeko (30M) / Llorente (15M) / Suarez (20M) / Aguero (30M)
I also think we should sell Aqualani to buy Keisuke Honda. There's no denying Aqualani is a talented player but he doesn't have the physical strength for the premier league. Honda is young and will make more money through causing shirt sales in Asia than his transfer fee :)

So the team could be next season: -

Reina
Johnson - Carragher - Skrtel/ Agger - Konchesky
Turan - Meireles - Gerrard - J.Cole
(one of the possible strikers above)/ Kuyt - Torres

Something is wrong in the dressing room, and I am not sure it's Roy's presence. After Xabi left, we just seemed to have no enthusiasm for playing, and the poster who talked about the Hull game is right. After that game, it seems like there is a deep rooted dissatisfaction either between some of the players or between the players and the staff. OFC Roy is looking nonplussed, you forget he has to look at this sh1te as well. I don't care if you are God managing, if the players will not do what you tell them, whatever you tell them will have no effect. There is an open wound at anfield. I felt completely robbed and frustrated when Xabi left, like it was the selling of our ambition, and I have a feeling that some of the playing staff have felt it too.

Surely the owners knew they were going to need alot of money to get the sucess at liverpool expect liverpool to spend big in jan and in the summer and be refreshed for next season as there are no world cup or euro championships so of the players at the moment don't look confident and there touches are poor and we need more pace and skill in our team heres to the future it can only get better and it won't be long before other teams will feel the pinch and have to tigten there belts man utd already on the slide and tottenham can't keep spending even though harry redknapp seams to by good quality at good prices so all is not lost yet keep the red flag flying high we will be back

Jose mourinho is the man nesv want, and more importantly need. he won't leave madrid untill the end of the season, if by that time he has added a la liga title to his impressive c.v. jose mourinho loves the idea of bringing the title home after 20years. he is the only manager that wud be able to bring in the quaility player with out the lure of champions league football. nesv no this and that's the man they will pursue, after crisis talks with steven gerrard and fernando torres later this week.

"Surely the new owners are on the phone to Martin O'neil as we speak."

Dear God I hope not. Anyone who thinks Martin O'Neill is the route to success has taken all leave of their senses - it's nearly as proposterous an idea as Dalglish or Keegan.

It is obvious our future is not Roy Hodgson but it never was to start with - he is merely a stop-gap until we could first of all obtain new owners and secondly said new owners took stock and start the process of finding and appointing their own men in the dug-pout, on the pitch and in the offices (Purslow is apparently safe with John Henry seeing him as the long-term occupier of his current post.)

Hodgson is here until Christmas at least and very probably until the end of the season - NESV will be more interested in behind-the-scenes consolidation at the moment not more turmoil. It would only be a player-led revolt that would see Hodgson out the door before then. Funnily enough, Gerrard, Hodgson and others had lunch with John Henry & Tom Warner yesterday and discussed the team and the club. Did Gerrard knife Hodgson or back him I wonder? The latter for the immediate future would be my guess.

Anyway, the first one out the door needs to be Lee.

And at least we're still above West Ham.

I understand that Roy has been summoned to a high level meeting tonight.

After the euphoria of the court case earlier this week, purslow and broughton will seek to reassure the fans by making a sweeping announcement.

John Henry will show that he will and can make decisions in the best interests of the club immediately.

Press announcement soon, one years severance pay for Roy.

Kenny is being tipped behind closed doors, pelegrini from january is a possibility

Unfortunately it could be argued liverpool have been too loyal in the past. If John Henry makes this statement of intent with the removal of Hodgson, he must also be critical of the players who just aren't doing anything well. Remember Ambramovich criticised the Chelsea team last year. It does work.

Well guys its that feeling again, we have two options

1. Give Roy more time and hopefully we will see an improvement
2. Sack Roy and pull in either KK as a temp or bring in someone new.

If we go for the first option then its a big gamble. Our goal for this season has to be 4th place and to do that we need to be in a position at Christmas where we are not too far from the top. If we are where we are now it doesn't matter who we bring in we will not have a hope in hell. Roy has constantly said give "me time", however if the performances were getting better and you could see improvements then you would have faith in the manager but they are not.
If we go for the second option, history tells us that in football changing the manager in these situations usually gives a short period where the team starts getting results e.g. Tottenham and Chelsea.

Roy has constantly said that things will improve however what is he going to do next week that is different to this week and the week before. Can you really see things changing over the next couple of weeks, because any more results like today and we will be so far behind that if we bought Messi, Ronaldo, Alonso, Xabi and Iniesta we still wouldn't finish 4th.

Its a critical period for Liverpool this year and a decision has to be made soon, because if we are not in the Champions league next year it will be very difficult to attract any sort of player with the calibre we need.

Guys Click Believe if you think Roy should be sacked or Click Unbelieve if you think he should be given more time

Can you imagine Henry and Hodgson after the game,

Henry - "Tell me again Roy, who were the international players on the pitch for us today?"

Woy - "Well to be honest, nearly all of them"

Henry - " And we can swap players on the pitch at any time?"

Woy - " Yes, anytime"

Henry - " and who decides on this?"

Woy - "Well, I do"

Henry - "Who tells the players on how to play the game?"

Woy - "That'll be me again"

Henry - "Do you get any help with this? who was that little fella you were talking to?"

Woy - "Thats Sammy Lee, been at Liverpool for quite a while, my right hand man"

Henry - "So, I hope I have got this right, you and Sammy pick the team, tell them how to play and make decisions on when to make substitutions I think you call it?"

Woy - "That just about sums it up, yea"

Henry - "have you done this job before Roy?"

Woy - "Well yes, I have been a manager for 20 odd years now"

Henry - "On Monday come into my office, oh! and bring Sammy with you and we can go over the business of Fxxking both of you off, and you can take the rest of the so called internationals with you"

Dalglish may be out of touch with modern sport science, but as an interim Braveheart-style flag bearer he may be what we need ? {ed's note - my personal choice would be Doncaster Rovers manager Sean O'Driscoll. In Jan we need Gomez

Well the bbc reporting we are looking at signing brunt for 9m well no way in hell would p pay that for him and this is the type of player woy wants, for me he should go out and try n get jarvis of wolves if he hinks brunt is good enough. Personally i would welcome a move for Honda, Defour, Benega, Mata and then a decent striker not gomez for me Suarez, Dzeko, or forlan for me would be ideal ten in the summer go for more quality.

well wat do you think ed

starting 11 for the derby

. . . . . . .reina. . . . . . .
kelly. .cara. . .soto. . .konc
amoo. meireles. .gerrard. . babel/ cole
. . . . . jova. . .torres

i would play johnson at rw if he is fit wat do think ed {ed's note - if we have sunk so low as to play Kyrgiakos on a regular basis, then we may as well give up.}

January
Woy will be given no exact funds just will be told to find 1 or 2 player he thinks will help improve the first XI
I belive woy will blow it but i would like to see him get a winger and a second striker and if possible a new CB

LM Bastos (can play LB)
SS Honda (can play cdm cam ans ss )
Cb roger johnson (Could be world class )

Roy may get 40 million pound for spending and there is a chance that roy will bid for chelsea and man city january target kaka for 30 million euros because kaka also want to leave and jose mourinho also want to offload him.

other targets

mario gomez
mata
may be lisandro lopez

roy will also want to sign a good defender
remember rooney alo may leave manu so there can be a surprise for liverpool fans

To Blaire Mayne and eds .
Do you see Roy or any manager at the time of january recieving 40 to 50 million for transfers in the january transfer window? Even if the team is still not doing great then?
I don't think so. I see a max of 25mil plus player sales. Although it goes upto 40 million this way, it still doesn help. Cos we have to fill in for the players sold at that point as well. .

Breathtaking PHOENIX

Red for life! {ed's note - I personally would prefer one or two in and 3 or 4 out. I don't see the need to spend huge sums, and I very much doubt the money will be given to anyone to spend much - unless it is on one big move.}

Just to answer your question blaire I find it hard to trust Roy wit a 50 mill kitty. I have a feelin he will try sign Carlton" I get more injured than Torres " cole.really hope not Honda, banega, mata, turan for me any 50 mill well spent! Wat you think?
Fowler is god

I kind of agree with you mate. IF i had 40-50 mill and maybe player sales. The players i would go for would be Suarez, Benega and Turan and Honda IF we had the funds left for him. Suarez for me would be a no brainer as you know we've needed a 2nd decent striker for the past 2-3 years.

Ed, is there any chance Liverpool could get Rooney as he's from Liverpool, but was he an everton fan as a kid?
Please put this on rumours site I want to see how many belivs (for going for Rooney) and unbelivs (for not going for rooney) this gets

Thanks {ed's note - no, and I for one am glad.}

Ed am i right in saying the fact we have not signed turan yet is money, i have read king kenny is a fan of his and would love him at the club. and for all the people saying roy has a bad record in the market, i have to disagree, the only time he had serious money to spend (after monster masch) he bought meireles.
i will addmit poulsen was a bad buy no matter how cheap. and konchesky for me has done nothing wrong he was cheap maybe roy should not of thrown dalla valle in the deal but that's what happend. he is a proven british lb. would we have got baines, would wornock have come back.
anyway looking forward to todays game.

always a red {ed's note - I believe the reason we have yet to sign Turan is that both our recent managers have disagreed with Kenny's assessment of him. Neither of them believe he is the right player for us.}

Liverpool to sign 3 PSV players in jan: Dzsudsak £13M, Toivinen £15M and Afellay(pre-contract for summer). The other signing will be a CM in Banega £8.5M as Valencia arent using him much 2 games so far, and a winger in Mata for 13M + Babel
Spending roughly:£49.5M
This is more realistic than saying Mata, Sanchez, Aguero but is it still too much for january?
[ED's?][ED's?][ED's?] {ed's note - Banega has been injured, he was first choice while fit and the main reason Valencia went straight to the top of the Primera Liga.}

I hope Liverpool gets Turan and Honda in January. . Both are great players!

Two fantastic players and two players who are practically begging us to go buy them. They are making enough noise's about how much they love our great club.

To anybody IF the new owners set aside a transfer kitty of 40-50 mill for January would you trust Roy to buy quality?

To the person who said this
J w henry will insist on 2 players of his own, as many people have stated keisuke honda to raise the profile of lfc in japan, and none other than the captain of his homeland micheal bradley. to tap in2 the american market and knock man u off the pedastal.

You may have a point about Honda because Thomas c Werner said in an interview with 5live they they out bid the Yankees and several other teams to get a japanese baseball.

Hi ed just voted on a poll on either to make anfield bigger or build new ground myself build new ground i know the history our great club has and im proud everytime i visit anfield but i think to build a new ground would also bring some freshness into the city itself would you agree the liverpool people deserve the best im from n.ireland myself but love liverpools way of life quite similar to ours {ed's note - I would rather expand Anfield, I have never liked the idea of a new stadium myself. I have too close a personal attachment to Anfield.}
